Welcome back everyone, I hope that you enjoy this chapter.
Lily ran about her house, getting everything clean; perhaps it was absurd, her home was never really messy, and all that there was to clean was a bit of dust. Literally, everything could be fixed with a simple flick of her wrist; yet she was still worrying herself. But Sirius and Remus were coming over, and while they had seen her house messy before, the first few years after Hagara was deemed dead, being the primary example. But they were meeting Hagara today, meeting her alive and well, and Lily wanted everything to be perfect, to make the occasion special, an absurd notion, but one that she couldn't shake from herself.
Thankfully she wasn't given time to freak out over the clean house due to a sudden knocking on her door. She quickly made her way to the front door, and there stood Sirius and Remus.
Sirius was in his typical attire; a clean wizard-style suit, though every button was undone, exposing the shirt, he wore under the rest of the clothes. It was immature of him, especially as an adult. Still, Lily had come to understand that even today, it was an act of rebellion against his family, he wore the fancy clothes that he always had to, but he did so while breaking every rule of etiquette he had ever been taught. Lily would not tell him off for dressing as he did.
Remus wore a similar suit; though he seemed to prefer a style of cut more similar to a Muggle suit, it was made of tweed only further sold the look of it being Muggle. He wore a slight bit of makeup, making the scars on his face not appear as grotesque as they sometimes did; since he was wearing it, Lily assumed that the two of them had come directly from work to her place. They were just as excited about seeing Hagara as Lily had been, how she still was, every day.
"Sirius, Remus! It is wonderful to see you!" Lily exclaimed; if she put a bit more emphasis on Remus's name, no one mentioned it.
"It is wonderful to see you as well, Lily; we had heard the news of Hagara, and Sirius had devised a plan to break into Hogwarts to see her if it wasn't for all of our work. I am pretty sure he would have gone through with it." Remus laughed, bringing Lily in for a hug as he did so. "If Dumbledore had not allowed for this short vacation, I might have joined him." Remus whispered; evidently, he did not want to encourage Sirius.
Pulling out of the hug from Remus, Sirius finally spoke up. "It is good to see you as well, Lily… I'm sorry about James." The last half of his sentence was quiet, and it dulled the mood from before. Sensing this, Sirius spoke again. "Where is Hagara, by the way?" He asked, changing the somber subject.
"She's in the family room, Honey likes sitting on her lap, and outside of Madam Pomfrey, I'm pretty sure the cat is the only other thing that she will listen to." Lily said as she entered the family room, only to see Honey happily sleeping on the couch, without Hagara.
Lily approached Honey, who got up when he noticed her; when Honey got up, he revealed a letter, written in a language that she did not recognize. Pulling out her wand, Lily cast the translation charm, as it had to be a note from Hagara, one that would hopefully explain where she was. "Transferendo." Lily murmured.
The letters on the paper shifted till they were English. Picking up the paper, Lily began to read out loud. "I am currently searching for an item that I require so that I may confront aquatic humanoids; I shall arrive back at this establishment in due time. Also, paper is a very wasteful product. Regards, Hagara Kallig."
Lily stared at the paper in confusion for several seconds, followed by the front door bursting open. The three of them turned around in shock; Hagara stood at the front door, wearing Muggle clothes and carrying a large piece of machinery in her arms. She stood there staring right back at them; she seemed surprised by the fact that there were more people than just Lily.
"I will be with you in a moment; first, let me put my equipment away." Hagara stated as she carried the massive piece of machinery through Lily's family room and then up the stairs and out of sight. Lily, Sirius, and Remus all stared at the stairwell in varying states of confusion.
"You told us that she was older than she was supposed to be; I didn't think you meant she was a full-fledged adult." Remus commented after a long moment of silence. "What was that she was carrying anyways?"
"I have no idea; I doubt she will explain it either." Lily stated offhandedly as they all continued to watch the stairs.
Hagara came down after a moment, Honey trailing behind her as she reached the main level. Once she reached the ground level, she turned to Lily and looked at her with a mixture of boredom and curiosity as her yellow eyes subtly drifted to Remus and Sirius. "So, who are these people?" Hagara asked, gesturing to both of them with her hand.
"This is Remus, and this is Sirius; he is your godfather." Lily stated, being direct, even if it was a lot of information, seemed to leave Hagara happier than if someone tried to be indirect with her.
"So these are the two people you wanted me to meet; I can understand you wanting me to interact with Sirius, as they are apparently my godfather, but this Remus guy is just here as well, for some reason." Hagara stated flippantly as she gestured to the both of them before she walked off, following Honey on the cat's way to the couch. Lily followed behind her, Remus and Sirius followed as well.
"Hagara, please don't ignore them; they wanted to meet you, they managed to get a break from their work to come here." Lily exclaimed as she followed Hagara into the family room, where Honey was demanding Hagara to sit.
"They have met me, have they naught?" Hagara asked, turning around; when she spotted them from behind Lily, she gestured broadly at herself in a show of her being there. "I am Hagara Kallig; behold, you have met me."
"They want to talk to you as well, Hagara!" Lily cried out before sighing in exasperation as she heard Sirius break into a fit of laughter from behind her. She was sure that she heard Remus snigger from behind her as well.
"Then speak." Hagara stated plainly as she stared at them, ignoring Honey, who was pressing against her legs and meowing in a bid to get her to go to the couch.
"How old are you?" Remus asked after a moment; the question seemed to have been bothering him, especially since Lily had only told him that Hagara was older than she was supposed to be, not how much older she was.
"I believe that I am twenty-one, though I may have turned twenty-two while being here." Hagara stated tentatively. "This kidnapping is weird in terms of time and age." Hagara said, brushing off the confused stares when she was hesitant about her age.
"What is your occupation?" Remus asked.
"What does that matter?" Hagara asked in return; Lily sighed; this was going to be slow and not remotely fun.
Time Skip:
They had eventually moved to the couch, where Honey was now sitting on Hagara's lap, which seemed to keep her in a better mood.
Hagara had refused to answer most of the questions that Remus and Sirius had leveled at her; some were questioned that Hagara had previously given answers to when Lily asked, but other questions she had neither asked nor received answers for herself. Lily was not going to go and betray Hagara's trust by telling Remus and Sirius what she had told her; having Hagara trust her meant too much to risk it.
Eventually, the questions about Hagara's life had ended; and instead, Remus and Sirius had been talking about themselves. Currently, they spoke about how they were working together to create legislation that would prevent people from being fired from their jobs on the basis of being a werewolf, vampire, or anything similar.
"I cannot believe that this is something that even needs to be signed into law with you people; how desperate is everyone here to create an enemy out of each other." Hagara stated with a sigh, leveling the three of them with a glare that seemed to indicate that she was superior.
"Wizards have a lot of backward practices, but as time goes on, stuff has gotten better." Sirius stated; Lily looked at him in surprise. She always forgot that after becoming Lord Black, he had actually forced himself to somewhat mature, at least pretend to be mature. He was no longer the kid that encouraged James's idiocy.
Hagara snorted. "Every practice I have seen has been backward in this Force forsaken place."
"By the way, what was that thing that you brought in earlier?" Remus asked suddenly.
"It is what I will use in the next task. Hopefully, this task will leave me with my insides still inside me." Hagara commented snidely.
"Eh, perhaps this stupid ball thing will kill me. I haven't prepared for that either." Hagara commented, she did not seem to put much thought or care into the ball that was coming up soon. "Thank goodness I found that stupid thing; we are leaving the day after tomorrow, aren't we?" Hagara asked, looking at Lily pointedly.
Lily confirmed what Hagara had asked.
"Perhaps we could return sooner; I have completed my task here, so I might as well prepare back at Hogwarts." Hagara stated, her eyes flashed brightly for a second before returning to their normal yellow color.
"Your eyes; when you were a baby, your eyes were green like Lily's. What happened to them to cause them to change color?" Remus asked, having noticed Hagara's eyes flashing a moment ago.
"At one point, they were a very similar color to Lily's eyes; they are not anymore though, and that is all that is important." Hagara stated, leaving no room to ask further questions, at least no questions that Hagara would answer.
"Now, if it is quite all right will all of you, I am going to go to that park outside to exercise, as I wasn't allowed to do that back at Hogwarts, and I need to be in good shape; to face whatever challenge is next." With that, Hagara stood up and left the living room; the sound of the front door closing was heard a moment later.
Lily sat still; Hagara had talked to Sirius and Remus for a decent amount of time, though it was clear that she had not really wanted to connect with them at all; even though the both of them desperately did. She wasn't going to try and force anything; perhaps she would even follow Hagara's suggestion of returning a day early. Sirius and Remus had planned to stay for tomorrow as well, but if Hagara did not want to interact with them, she couldn't force it; she wouldn't force it. Not that she could.
"You're welcome to stay for the rest of the day, you two, but I think Hagara and I will be returning back to Hogwarts tomorrow. Perhaps you guys can spend the extra time getting more work done?" Lily said in an apologetic tone, though based on both of their expressions, they understood her plight, or at least they were trying to understand it.
With a sigh, Lily got up, and the three of them went into the kitchen to prepare something to eat; with luck, Hagara would join them after she got back from her exercise.
Time Skip: Perspective Shift: Hagara
Hagara wondered the halls of Hogwarts, her eyes sweeping over the renovations that had been done in her absence. Decorations, similar to Life Day, hung about the castle, creating a very different atmosphere compared to how the castle typically looked. She could say with certainty that she preferred the look of the castle without the decorations, but seeing them and them being so similar to Life Day decorations did give her a bit of comfort. It made it feel like she wasn't stranded on some planet who knows how far away from the part of the galaxy she was truly familiar with.
The decorations were a distraction though, she needed to find Hermione and Luna; she had promised them that she would make them her Apprentices, yet she had done almost nothing to train them. She had the hidden room, though, so she could train them in private now; she just had to find them first. Great Hall was probably a good place to check; it was almost mealtime after all.
With that, Hagara twisted on her heel and began marching to the Great Hall.
With long strides, she quickly made her way through the castle and to the hall where everyone was eating. Walking through the doors boldly, she scanned the room, looking for the two girls, neither of whom were in the hall. Hagara raised an eyebrow in confusion and scanned over the room once more, making sure to pay extra attention to every face. However, she doubted she would have missed them; if they were here, wandering around the rest of the castle would be a tremendous waste of time. But even after looking across the room for a second time, she was unable to find them.
Her brow furrowed in frustration; she was going to have to find them herself then.
With a sigh, she opened herself up to the Force and felt the beacon that was Hogwarts fill her. Feeling across the castle, she quickly found her two Apprentices as they were some of the only people not currently in the Great Hall; they were also together; which was nice as it would make collecting them easy. Keeping her connection so she could follow them if they moved, she began making her way through the castle; ignoring every painting, student, teacher, and ghost; the latter of who seemed particularly interested in her after she consumed several spirits.
They did not matter at this moment though, she could consume them later; right now, she needed to find her Apprentices and start training them.
She stopped outside of an abandoned classroom with raised eyebrows. She had not thought either of them to be the type of people that would go to abandoned classrooms to find pleasure. It did not matter; passion was good for being a Sith after all.
Hagara swung open the door without hesitation, fully expecting to see them both halfway undressed and on top of each other. Instead, she found the both of them sitting at an abandoned desk together, looking at a book.
"Hermione, Luna, it is good to see both of you." Hagara stated, quickly composing herself, having not expected to find them as put together as they were.
Both of them jumped in surprise upon her entering the abandoned classroom, Hermione flushed in embarrassment, but Luna was unbothered upon being caught where she wasn't supposed to be.
"What schoolwork are you working on?" Hagara asked curiously as she stepped further into the room, though she made sure to give both Hermione and Luna plenty of space and room to hide the information if they did not wish to share it with her. She was deprived of privacy her whole life; she would not do the same to the two of them. She was curious about what they were looking at though, the classes in this place were pointless and horrible, but the materials they failed to teach were actually rather interesting.
"Luna was trying to get me to rejoin divination." Hermione stated though Hagara could sense that it was not the whole truth. Not that it wasn't apparent that they were hiding something. As she saw Luna try, and fail, to slip several pieces of parchment back into her bag while Hermione attempted to distract her.
"I am surprised that you quit a class; you seem to always stick around, no matter how worthless the teacher is." Hagara commented, raising a single brow.
"Okay, but Professor Trelawney is actually the worst teacher that we have ever had!" Hermione exclaimed; Hagara watched her with amusement. She was a very passionate girl and could do very well as a Sith; she just needed to break a couple habits that she had picked up, or perhaps she could implement those habits as she grew as a Sith; using your oddities works well when trying to fool an enemy.
Hopefully, Hermione and Luna would never have to face an enemy outside of petty school rivalries and the rivalries that are formed all throughout one's life. Hopefully, they could avoid war, unlike the rest of the galaxy. They were too young, and Hagara liked them far too much.
"Well, if you are done working on divination, I was planning on beginning my own lessons with the two of you, training you in the arts of the Force that I know." Hagara said, and she had to suppress a laugh at the sheer excitement that crossed both girls' faces.
They both quickly put all their materials back into their respective bags before following Hagara out the door of the abandoned classroom. The three of them quickly moved through the castle till they eventually made it to the blank wall on the seventh floor. Hagara began pacing around it, she needed a place to train Hermione and Luna, preferably someplace cleaner than the storage room, but it would make do. She really just needed the private place.
The door suddenly appeared, surprising both of her Apprentices, though Hermione seemed far more surprised than Luna. "Come, this is where we will train." Hagara stated as she opened the door, only to pause in shock upon seeing the state of the room.
She had expected the mountains of junk that were in here the last time she had come, but instead, she found a clean room, similar to the rooms she had first begun training in when she was learning how to hold a protosaber. It was brightly lit, with firm yet soft floors, upon the walls were many training sabers, designed to not cause anything more than a solid bruise. A large area in the middle of the room was empty, perfect for performing exercises. And on the far side of the room sat a large bookshelf full of what looked to be tomes. Though how useful they were remained to be seen.
"This is amazing; how did you find this place?" Hermione asked excitedly as she and Luna both entered the room. Hagara was too distracted by the changes of the room to notice how close the two of them stood next to each other.
"I found this room a while ago when I was looking for an advantage for the first task." Hagara stated, turning to look at them. "I have three options on what we can work on today." Hagara began as her two Apprentices turned to look at her.
"Option one is that we work on theory. I am not sure how much history is in this room, but I can discuss my own knowledge on the Sith, and you can learn the Sith Code." Hagara stated, noting the excitement on Hermione's face and the interest in Luna's.
"Option two is that we work on the physique. Exercises that can help the two of you build up stamina, strength, and dexterity. Perhaps if we work on it enough, you can even learn how to implement the Force into your movements which would allow you to move in ways that no other human could possibly be able to." Hagara explained the second option of what they could begin with; both of them seemed decidedly less excited, though the idea of moving, unlike anyone else, seemed to weirdly excite Luna.
"Option three is that we work on training your abilities in the Force itself, learning how to work without a wand, and then we will learn some of the most powerful aspects of the Force, secrets that few would be willing to teach you." Hagara stated, seeing the clear interest in both of them.
It was evident that they were not going to choose to work on their physical strength, but Hagara was unsure if they would want to work on mastering the Force itself or if they were going to choose to study theory first.
"Can you show us an example of all three?" Hermione asked, surprising Hagara.
"Of course." Hagara stated with a smirk.
"Back up, and behold the power of the Force!" Hagara proclaimed as she began walking backward into the middle of the room. Halfway to the middle of the room, she suddenly did a backflip, using the Force to enhance her strength, allowing her to leap from her backflip to the center of the room onto her feet.
Looking up from where she landed, she saw that Hermione was already looking at her in utter shock; Luna just seemed interested. That was something that Hagara was going to change.
She drew the power of the Force into her hands till electricity cracked across her fingers; she held it, letting it grow more powerful. The electricity arched across her hands, growing in intensity and power the longer she held onto it. She did not let go though, the electricity began arching across her arms, but it did not harm her; it was hers to command.
Throwing her hands above her head and as far away from each other as possible, Hagara let the electricity go. The electricity exploded above her before it crashed onto the ground around her, charring the floor with its intensity, but it did not harm Hagara. The lightning storm lasted for several seconds before it faded away, leaving her standing in a circle of charred ground.
With a flick of her wrist, she shot another blast of electricity at the wall; the short burst of energy made contact and exploded, though it faded quickly and without much residue. Using a burst of Force Speed, Hagara raced right up to her two Apprentices, stopping right in front of them. They both stared at her in awe now, but she was not done.
Using the Force, she lifted both of her Apprentices up and let them lazily float about, allowing them to feel weightless in the middle of a planet, something that even the greatest technology struggled to do.
"Behold my Apprentices, the power of the Force." Hagara said as she turned them around from floating randomly to facing her while still floating above the ground.
"I think we should start with theory though, not Force techniques or exercises; though you will be exercising before you get a chance to do a lot with the Force." Hagara warned as she gently set the back onto the ground. Neither of them seemed shaken from being lifted in the air, which was due to the fact that Hagara was still holding onto them with the Force, preventing them from being shaken.
"How about we start with the Sith Code?" Hagara asked, to which both of her Apprentices eagerly listened.
"Peace is a Lie; there is only Passion. Through Passion I gain Strength. Through Strength I gain Power. Through Power I gain Victory! Through Victory, my chains are Broken, the Force shall set me Free." Hagara proclaimed, amplifying her voice with the Force ever so slightly, just to add to the power of her words, to allow the Sith Code to truly get ingrained in their minds.
Hermione raised her hand.
"What is your question?" Hagara asked, looking at Hermione in confusion; the Sith Code was relatively straightforward after all.
"What do you mean, peace is a lie?" Hermione asked; she seemed itching to ask about the other aspects of the Sith Code, but evidently, that one was the one bothering her the most.
"Peace is a lie." Hagara stated simply.
"No, it's not, no wars are going on right now, no one is fighting; we are at peace." Hermione stated, trying to explain her point; Hagara shook her head.
"Someone in the world is fighting, someone is killing someone else, someone is committing a violent crime against someone, a child is being abused, wars are being waged somewhere in the world, someone is in mental turmoil, someone is suffering emotionally, someone is suffering physically. Peace is not present, nor has it ever been present; our debate at this moment is only further proof of that fact." Hagara explained, looking down at Hermione, yellow eyes strangely eerie in the sterile light of the room they were in.
"Are your minds at peace? Does doubt, pain, fear, anger, worry, and sadness not constantly plague your mind? Peace does not have to cease just because such a thing as war exists in the current moment; no peace is absent whenever conflict exists, no matter how small or insignificant the conflict is. That does not mean that you do not have moments in your life that are joyful, that feel peaceful, but that peaceful feeling, in the end, is just a distraction from the inevitable. Indulge yourself in those moments that are peaceful; precious few of them will exist in your lifetime." Hagara did not know when her explanation turned into dropping wisdom for her Apprentices, but it seemed like they had needed that pep talk just as much as they needed to know the folly of believing in peace.
"What were your other questions, Hermione?" Hagara asked after finishing her explanation and giving them both time to think it over.
The rest of the lesson consisted of Hermione and occasionally Luna asking questions about the Sith Code. Hagara was glad that they showed genuine interest in learning about the Sith and the Force, but she also realized that she was not prepared for this. Obviously, she had known this stuff; she was a member of the Dark Council after all, but how she had first started learning was drastically different than how they wanted to learn.
When Hagara had first started training, she had only just gotten out of slavery and was still heavily under the influence of slavery. She had taken what was told to her and went with it. The Sith Code was something to memorize, not something to use or ask questions about; how to hold a lightsaber was a new job, not something for her to stylize. It had taken months to break out of those habits, and Zash had been no help with that. Hermione and Luna were going to be much more unique Apprentices than she ever was.
Perhaps that would annoy other Sith, but she felt like she was going to enjoy it. She was not their master; she would never, ever call herself something so vile; she was simply their teacher, and she was excited to see where her teachings would lead them.
Time Skip:
Hagara was growing frustrated, two months had already passed, and she was no closer to finding out who had brought her here. At first, she had assumed it to be Lily, Dumbledore, or someone who had tried to grow close to her. Though, none of them had shown any signs that they were secretly the person who had brought her here.
Lily wouldn't have been able to hide it; she was too vocal in the Force and was easy to read. So while Hagara had been suspicious of her due to how joyful she was about Hagara being here, it was also evident that she could not hide if she was the one responsible.
Dumbledore was trickier, he was a master at concealing his emotions from those around him, but he did not see too keenly interested in Hagara, primarily worried about her. He had shown genuine remorse to Hagara's situation, much more genuine than what Lily could muster. While it was possible that he was the one that had brought her here but had grown to regret his decision, the Force did not seem to find him to be the one at fault.
Neither Luna nor Hermione could have done it; she had researched the Goblet and what had been done to it and had learned that no one under the age of seventeen had been able to place anything in it. That is not even mentioning the fact that Luna and Hermione had only ever known her after she had been brought to this world, and Hagara had been the one to seek them out when coming here.
Draco fell into all the same categories of innocence that Luna and Hermione did; in fact, he seemed even less suspicious since he had only grown to like her after she had shown him that she respected him. Their relationship didn't really even exist beyond that, so there was no reason at all for him to be the person who brought her here.
But those were the only people who were close to her, and Draco and Dumbledore pushed the line on being close; they were more just people she happened to know and talk to without having the desire to murder them.
It had to be someone else then, but she really had no idea as to who it may be. The only hope she had in hopes of finding them was to potentially draw them out of hiding. She just needed the right opportunity to do so, and she would need a time where almost everyone was in one place.
Time Skip:
Hagara wished the Ashara was here; she always wished that Ashara was here or that she was back with Ashara. But right now, she really wished that she and Ashara were together. As a supposed champion of the Tri-Wizard Tournament, she was required to have a dancing partner for the ball that was coming up. She wanted to choose Ashara, she had even made it clear that she was in a relationship, and while the Headmaster had been sympathetic, he had stated that she would need to at least dance with somebody for the beginning of the ball.
In the end, perhaps it did not matter; it wasn't like they could force her to go with somebody. But the idea of going with Ashara was enticing. Perhaps when she rejoined the wider galaxy, she and Ashara could do something similar? Though she doubted she would spend her time at an event like this, as she had better things to do.
In the end, it did not matter. The ball was tonight anyways; while it sounded like something fun, it was something she was forced to attend, which was an instant damper on the enjoyment factor.
Eh, at least she had something fun to wear.
Hagara thought as she looked at herself in the bathroom mirror of the Ravenclaw Dormitory.
It was a beautiful mixture of a dress and a robe; it hung loose on her body, yet it also revealed her shape, much more than any clothes she would typically wear. This robe dress was black but slowly faded into purple the closer it got to the edges, till the sleeves and bottom of the dress were a brilliant purple. The sleeves were wide and rolled back till they reached her elbow, revealing long violet gloves that hugged her arms and hands, ending with fake nails made of metal and sharp as a blade. The dress careened down her hips and legs, with a single slit on the left side, showing up to her knee, which was covered by a black stocking that continued to rise out of sight under the dress. She wore a large belt on her hip, weaved with black fabric; it hugged her tightly, further emphasizing her body. A hood rested on her back, the edge rimmed with silver fur, fur that was also covered the backs of her shoulders but left her chest with a crossing pattern of weaved fabric, exposing the smallest bit of cleavage. She was the pinnacle of a dangerous beauty, and Hagara reveled in it.
She smiled a wide smile, her ruby red lips making a nearly deranged smile spread across her face. With her will, she commanded the Force to pull her hair into a fancy bun that sat tightly on the back of her head; but she allowed a few strands of hair to escape the bun and instead fall down the side of her face. This made it, so her hair now hid one of her eyes from the world and allowed the other to stand out much more starkly with its yellow coloring. The yellow coloring of her eyes, while still unnerving now, also enhanced her beauty.
Twisting on her heel Hagara exited the bathroom she had been changing in. She walked through the Ravenclaw Dormitory with power and purpose, ignoring anyone she passed by. Quickly she reached the place she was told to be. Outside the Great Hall, because for whatever reason, where everyone ate was the best place one could hold a ball.
She arrived outside the Great Hall, and many people were already there, dressed in all manners of clothing. Hagara ignored them all in favor of finding a nice secluded spot where people would stop staring at her, or at least a place where not as many people would stare at her.
Hagara found her solace in the group of the other Champions. Cedric was there; next to his was a young girl who she knew to be from Ravenclaw. Fleur was also there with her date, a boy that Hagara believed also belonged in Ravenclaw.
Ravenclaw was rather popular, wasn't it? Hagara thought with a bored expression. Though she was surprised that Viktor Krum didn't have someone beside him yet; perhaps he had also done what Hagara had done and simply not chosen to take someone; it wasn't like he was in short supply of people asking him after all.
Eventually, a girl did come over to the small group that the four Champions had seemed to form; she was from the same school as Viktor, from what Hagara remembered. Looking over at Viktor, he appeared to be anything but pleased, but he took her hand, and she joined the group.
Getting ready to sigh in annoyance, Hagara interrupted herself when she saw two people descend the stairs hand in hand; Hermione and Luna. Her Apprentices had a thing for each other then? It did not interfere with anything she had planned; in fact, if they stayed together, their connection to the Force could actually grow greater, and they could grow stronger as Sith.
Hermione wore a fancy periwinkle blue dress; it was rather sleek minus the few intentional ruffles that were part of the design. Her hair was very similar to Hagara's own hair; part of it was pulled back into a tight bun, but the rest cascaded down her shoulders in a sleek shower of thick brown hair, so very different from her normal bushy hair.
Luna was dressed fancifully as well, though of course with her own unique twists. Her dress was silver and fluffy; stitched across it was a multitude of strange and wonderful creatures of odd sizes and shapes. They were all the creatures that Luna had ever spoken about; Hagara recognized them from Luna's detained descriptions that she gave during their nights in the Dream Walker's Realm. Luna had brought her creatures to life with her dress, and if that was as real as they ever got to be, at least she allowed everyone to see how fantastical they were.
The doors soon opened to the Great Hall, and the Champions were to lead the way; Hagara was fine with going last, but she had not expected to be cut off by the Transfiguration Professor before she could get in.
"Where is your date, Miss P-" Minerva cut herself off, leaving it as Miss.
"You know that a date is required?" Minerva asked.
"As I am sure you are aware as well, I was already in a relationship with someone before you kidnapped me, so forgive me if I do not wish to be frolicking with others instead of my partner." Hagara stated in faux politeness.
"Please, Hagara, why must you be so difficult; could you have at least just taken someone for one night?" Minerva begged.
Perhaps Minerva did not intend to come off as rude, but she was, and it ticked Hagara off. So much so that she was half tempted to leave, but she liked this dress that she wore and did not want to waste all the time it took to put it on. Hagara's rip rolled up in a snare of displeasure. This was utterly ridiculous; how could these people even believe that they had some right to dictate her life? Her kidnappers!
Hagara pushed past the older woman and entered the Great Hall, only for her burning yellow eyes to light up in surprise. The Great Hall was completely different from how it usually looked. Gone were the long tables and benches; in their place stood many small circular tables surrounded by chairs and covered with a white cloth; additional tables lined the walls, each full of drinks and snacks. The floor had been replaced from basic stone to a much more polished material, though Hagara suspected that illusions were more at play and less that they actually replaced the floor.
The only part of the Great Hall that she felt was downgraded was the ceiling. In place of the lovely night sky, there was a snowy blizzard that only just barely allowed for any starlight to peak through; a starry night would have been much better for a ball, in her opinion.
Turning her attention back to the ball in question, Hagara realized that everyone had begun dancing and that Minerva was currently giving her a death glare. The women's glare was impressive, but stare down a pissed-off Jedi once, and no one looks scary anymore. And Hagara had pissed off a lot of Jedi in her time.
Hagara did not care to dance; her fingernails were blades for a reason. So instead, she quickly made her way over to the tables that lined the walls; perhaps there was something alcoholic among the food and drinks? She was not sure how all these teachers were supposed to survive watching a bunch of awkward teenagers dance around without alcohol in them after all.
She paused in her thoughts of inebriation, remembering how it felt to be transported across the galaxy while full of alcohol. That had been miserable, miserable to the point that the idea that for some reason she might end up being teleported caused her to lose her appetite for the liver killer.
Instead of finding alcohol, Hagara simply decided to stay near the concessions and watch the dancing from a distance. She watched as many young couples flushed with embarrassment upon having to hold each other at the hip while they danced; or watched them turn bright red at the idea of a kiss. Hagara also saw her fair share of people storming out on their dates. It was gossip that the Imperial upper class would have loved. She found it woefully unpleasant and tedious.
Looking around, she spotted Dumbledore talking to the headmasters of the other schools. True to form, Dumbledore was wearing an exceptionally interesting robe.
The top half of his robe was made up of three different greens, the base was sea green, and the rims of his robes were a dull lime green; the ruffles in his fanciful robe had a turquoise like green as well. His lower robes, like the top, were made up of three different colors, except these three colors were different blues. The outermost layer was a sky blue, with the middle layer being a strong ocean blue, and finally, the innermost layer was a dark, almost purple-blue. To separate the layers of green and blue, Dumbledore wore a simple white belt that split the blue and green.
It was a very odd choice to wear to the ball, but it fit Dumbledore well and almost fit the theme of the ball.
Hermione and Luna rushed over to her excitedly, interrupting her thoughts and observations.
"Hello, my Apprentices, what are you doing?" Hagara asked, looking at the two of them with a dull expression.
"Luna insisted that you had Wrackspurts flying around your head and that you needed to go out and have some fun on the dance floor." Hermione explained; Hagara merely raised a brow.
"I did not think that you believed in Luna's menagerie of mystical creatures, Hermione." Hagara stated, her lips curving upward in amusement.
"Luna is brilliant; just because she expresses herself in a way different from everyone else doesn't mean that what she says doesn't have any meaning." Hermione exclaimed as she gripped the blonde girl's hand tightly.
"I'm glad that bringing you together has opened your mind Hermione." Hagara stated sincerely, looking down at her two Apprentices. Opening her senses, she felt the smallest of bonds between them, but already that bond was hard at work to strengthen both of them. They would become something exceptional one day.
"You need to get the Wrackspurts out of your ears; go have fun!" Luna cried out happily as she grabbed Hagara's wrist and pulled on her, careful not to touch her wicked fingers as she did so.
"It isn't like I have a partner to dance with; what do you expect me to do?" Hagara asked, amused despite herself. Then she paused; an idea crossed her mind, one that would be quite fun, if only to drastically change the tone of this ball.
She made her way onto the dance floor; a slow song was going at the moment; perfect.
Pulling at the strength from within herself, she summoned Myrtle into the middle of the ballroom, except it was not how people were used to seeing her. Gone were the baggy robes and large glasses, in their place, with the power of the Force and her unique affinity for the dead; Myrtle now wore a whole new outfit.
Dark purple fog careened off her body, leaving only her shoulders exposed, forming a dress of smoke that dissipated upon reaching the floor. Her hair flew back in a vortex of ghostly black hair and purple smoke, showing off her cheekbones and face. Her large circular glasses were gone, and in their place now saw a thinner, sharper pair of glasses that worked well with the dress of smoke she now wore.
They danced together, the Force and their bond allowing them to know where the other was so that they could hold the illusion of dance. With every movement, the smoke dress shifted and changed. A ghost was probably the only thing Hagara could dance with; her nails could not harm the dead, for they could not be harmed in a physical sense. Minerva wanted her to dance; well, now she got her wish.
They only danced for the one song, and Myrtle seemed to have enjoyed it. But holding the Force in the way she had, forcing it to change the shape of reality and the dead, had been tiring, and she did not want to continue with the charade for any longer than she had to. Plus, Luna and Hermione had gone off somewhere, so she did not have to continue to keep Luna satisfied by getting rid of her Wrackspurts.
So instead, Hagara made her way back to the concessions, only to be quickly intercepted by Lily.
"What was that?" Lily asked in amazement.
"Technically, a dance with the dead." Hagara stated as she looked back to the dance floor, where many people still seemed utterly lost on what to do; the scene she had caused seemed to have created some lasting chaos.
"It was… shocking." Lily said slowly; her eyes drifted to the dance floor, the memory of the events that had just transpired shinned in the back of her eyes and on the front of her emotions.
"Why?" Lily asked suddenly; the rest of the message did not need to be conveyed. Why had Hagara danced with the dead? Why did she disrupt the entire event? Why do anything that she had just done?
"For several reasons, actually." Hagara began, grabbing a glass, the scratching sound of her metal nails on the glass filling the space between her and her mother.
"Two girls that I have kept in communication with had said that I needed to relax and enjoy myself, though they didn't say it in that way. Perhaps they had intended for me to dance alone, or they expected me to have a partner already; maybe they just wanted me to cause chaos? But they really just wanted me to relax and enjoy myself, so I did." Hagara explained as she gently scratched her finger across the rim of the glass; the odd sound it produced was neither pleasant nor unpleasant, but it was quite interesting to listen to.
"In some ways, it was also to get revenge against this institution; for the ball, I was required to have a date to dance with. Despite the numerous times I had told everyone that I would not be taking a date since I am already in a relationship, they still insisted that I had to take a date. I came in here without a date and then caused a scene when I summoned the dead to dance with to exact my revenge, and trust me, it was a light revenge." Hagara further explained, her eyes flashing a dangerous yellow as she finished her explanation with a threat.
"I didn't know you were in a relationship. I would have gone to Dumbledore myself to tell him not to push you if I had known!" Lily proclaimed in surprise, though Hagara could also sense a lot of interest in her mother about the aforementioned relationship.
"It does not matter." Hagara said, brushing off Lily's concern. "Finally though, I did it simply because I wanted to; the dance seemed to be an enjoyable thing, and if I could make it known how powerful I truly am, in my ability to summon the dead, all the better. Plus, I've been looking for a reason to cause some chaos." Hagara said, smiling, before falling silent again, her explanation completed.
Before Lily had a chance to respond, Hagara set the glass down and made her way to the exit. She swung the doors to the Great Hall open, the sudden movement and sound drawing the heads of many. She turned around in a flourish, the backlight of the hallway outside the Great Hall making her into a silhouette, except for her eyes which shown yellow and dripped purple with power.
Everyone seemed to expect some profound words, what she thought about everything, what was going to happen in the next task. It was going to be something significant; why else would she do this now, when almost everyone was gathered and in the mindset of a night needing to be perfect. Hagara opened her mouth, and everyone went still and silent; even the music that had played all through the night went silent. Then, Hagara spoke.
"Mayhem awaits." With that, Hagara spun around once again and exited the Great Hall and one massive flourish.
Everyone was left in silence; emptiness now sat over everything in the absence of sound. What did she mean was she talking about the next task; what was she planning?
Ever so slowly, the night resumed. People began talking again, the music picked up once more, dancing filled the dance floor, but a new atmosphere now filled the Great Hall, one of trepidation and curiosity. It was an atmosphere that Hagara was in complete and total control of.
Her power over the dead was known; she had played her hand to the Wizarding World, now it was time for them to make their move.
Hagara has revealed her hand, now it is her enemies turn to make a move. Will she discover who brought her to this world?
I hope that everyone enjoyed this chapter, I really enjoyed describing the dresses for the Yule Ball, especially Hagara's and Myrtle's. Hermione's dress is book accurate which I hope everyone liked.
