In an endless expanse of darkness, Sonic and Reimu are seen falling down rather slowly with Reimu's hair and clothes and Sonic's quills and ears moving softly, as if the two are in a deep ocean. Their eyes are closed the whole time they appeared until they open it in time as a great flash of white light envelops everything and the two.

The next scene shows the two falling down the sky, the light seemingly teleporting them from the darkness to the view of nature below them which is approaching them as they see. Surprised as they may be, the two quickly collect their bearings before Sonic looks behind him, looking at Reimu's resolute face to nod affirmatively. The miko nods and smiles in response before she planted her shoes against the hedgehog's sneakers and, as they're really close to have a rough landing, they kick their legs at the same time, propelling the two into different directions.
After stumbling as he begins running, Sonic zips his way through the forest akin to a fusion between Mushroom Hill and Forest of Magic, hopping over obstacles before he Spin Dashes his way through the line of Egg Pawns, destroying them. As for Reimu, she gracefully flies around in the air above what looks like to be Cool Edge and Netherworld if the presence of cherry blossom trees are any indication, dodging and grazing through a layer of danmakus before unleashing Fantasy Seal against the fairies, disposing them as she continues her way further with a smirk.

As Reimu fly without a care for the world, Marisa bumps next to her, greeting her close friend with a toothy smile, Alice appears next to Reimu's right acknowledging the miko with a curt nod and Yuuka flying above the trio holding her umbrella, much to their little surprise. Soon, more youkais and a human begin appearing behind her, following her flight to wherever she wants. When they're in an open field, friends and allies of Sonic happen to be here with Amy noticing the group with a wave and smile, shifting their attention to them. Reimu and the others have landed on the grass just when Sonic appear next to Tails and Knuckles, catching a glance to her acquaintances and Reimu doing the same thing to his friends and allies. Then the two lock eyes with each other, his smug grin facing her stoic frown with a contrast.

However, their attention shifts to a large rift spewing out Badniks and fairies with the former imbued with magical abilities and the latter being roboticized and equipped with mechanical weapons to their bodies. The distortion around the rift seems to have an effect on time and space as the atmosphere shifted to night with lightning flashes and wind blows. As Sonic and Reimu witnesses these, the two gets ready to fight the enchanted Badniks and robotic fairies with their friends, allies and acquaintances standing side by side or behind them. Acknowledging them, Sonic gives the signal, the next scene shows multiple blurs, danmakus and explosions ravaging the once-peaceful field with vengeance before Sonic and Reimu emerges from the ongoing battle, running and flying their way close to three more figures coming out of the rift.

What came out last from the rift is none other than Doctor Eggman riding inside a modified form of Big Arms. He's accompanied by Metal Sonic and Tenshi, the latter riding a keystone in a manner similar to the Egg Mobile. The mad doctor flashes a wicked grin in preparation of killing his arch-nemesis and Reimu while Metal and Tenshi brandishes a claw and the Sword of Hisou respectively with a menacing look. Seeing all of this, the two share a glance with each other, knowing full well what's gonna happen next. With Sonic giving a thumbs up and Reimu nodding with a smile, the two go all out as they charge at the the enemies with a cry, Sonic using Boost and Reimu activating Fantasy Nature. All of this is witnessed by a hooded boy with butterfly wings above in the sky, his attention focused to the two "protagonists" as the duo and the trio collides in a flash of light, displaying the logo.
