Prompt: "(slams table) Da Vinci and Avicebro (and any others deemed necessary) teaming up to make a weapon to surpass Metal Gear, literally or figuratively." — Natsu
The bunker rumbled and the lights flickered. Electronic roars echoed faintly in the background. But Avicebron minded none at all. Weaving artificial magic circuits into a mechanical golem was not easy work, after all. Heavy focus was required.
"Avi, throw me a spanner!"
The smallest spark of annoyance caught in his throat.
"I believe I explicitly said don't call me that." He still threw the spanner up twenty feet to where the smaller Da Vinci homunculus was working.
"What was that?" she called back. "I can't hear you over this brilliant piece of art we're making."
He couldn't help but agree. That didn't mean he wasn't going to pay her back somehow.
"Oh, don't be like that." The full-sized Da Vinci joined him and held a joint up while he worked on some hydraulics behind it. "You need to be less antisocial."
"I prefer the company of golems, thank you."
"Ouch." She grinned. "So you're not interested in a skyline date next week?"
"Is this really the time?"
"It's always the time for romance."
Another electronic roar from outside rumbled the hangar.
"Hey, is it ready?" Ritsuka was vibrating visibly. He had spoken many times of his childhood dreams to pilot a "mecha", and when the opportunity arose, Da Vinci was happy to put her skills to the test to try to make them come true.
"I think so," Avicebron said. The boy didn't wait more than a moment before running up the metal staircase to the entrance.
Da Vinci sighed. "Oh, to be young again."
"...only if you promise to explain... electric wiring to me."
"Hm?" Her gaze grew curious. "Does that mean...?"
"Yes, yes. Fine."
Avicebron stumbled as Da Vinci jump-hugged him with a happy yell, and he had to lean onto the side of the golem for support.
"I can't wait!" she yelled as the hangar doors began to scream open. The electronic roars grew even louder. "We should get out of the way!"
"Yes, I suppose we should," he muttered. Ritsuka's golem stumbled forward as the enemy Metal Gear turned, cannon pointed menacingly.
"ENEMY MECHA SIGHTED."
"YIPPEE-KAI-YAY MOTHERFUCKERS!" the boy in the mecha yelled over the outside speakers. "Hell yeah, always wanted to say that!"
