Hello! I've just been reading additional background information of Harry Potter books. I found out a lot of interesting stuff I never knew! Anyway, I've just finished reading a fanfic of mine, so I can finally actually write compared to thinking. Good day. P.S *ATTENTION EVERYBODY! I DO NOT OWN HARRY POTTER! I ONLY OWN THIS STUPID, TWISTED PLOT OF MINE.* I think that's all then.
"'I'm all right," said Hagrid weakly. "Come in, then, all of yeh then." They didn't move, staring at Hagrid in horror. If Hagrid thought this was alright, then Harry didn't want to know what Hagrid thought was not all right. Hagrid was an absolute mess. His overcoat was torn in pieces, and he was standing unsteadily. His face was an complete disaster, cuts, bruises and blood were on his face with a bandage over his head. His skin was a pale colour, in contrast to the normally red, lively face.
"Hagrid, what's happened?" repeated Hermione, not moving
"It doesn't matter," said Hagrid dismissively, ushering them in, wincing internally.
"Blimey, Hagrid what attacked you?" said Terry, looking alarmed.
"N-nothing!" said Hagrid immediately. "Bumped my head or something." He pointed at his bandage. They sat down at the table and Hagrid brought them some food.
"Now Hagrid," said Harry, " I want the truth. What happened?" At Harry's straight forward manner, Hagrid seemed to have no other option.
"I er, was in the forest," began Hagrid just as Hermione interrupted him.
"Hagrid! The forbidden forest! It's dangerous Hagrid, that's why it was forbidden," burst out Hermione.
"Hold yeh horses, I haven't told yeh what even happened!" Hagrid said indignantly. "Now, as I was saying, I was in the forest looking for some yeh know, unicorns hair, cause I ran out of them. Dead useful, they are."
"Right," said Terry sarcastically, "and the hair attacked you or something?" Hermione kicked Terry under the table, but Hagrid didn't notice.
"Yeh, well," said Hagrid, continuing, "I saw one all right but it was lying on the floor, all silvery and white. And then I saw it was dead." Hermione gasped and covered her mouth.
"It was d-dead?" she gasped. "They're really powerful creatures, oh Hagrid, do you know who killed them?"
"Well, I wasn't going to stand there just looking, mind yeh, so I bent down and examined it." said Hagrid. "Then I heard a rustling noise and I turned around and called ,Who yeh? Next thing I know I was attacked!" Hagrid started to look rather pleased with himself for his storytelling at their faces. "Then, then... Hang on I can't seem to remember now..." Hagrid looked rather confused.
"Hagrid, are you sure you can't remember anything?" said Hermione worriedly.
"Oh, I probably crashed into something and got knocked out," said Hageid dismissively. "All I can remember is pain, terrible pain in me head and my mind seemed to have been twisted apart or something like that. And I seemed to go through my memories, I can't remember!"
"What happened to that figure?" asked Harry.
"Well, when I woke up, the unicorn was gone with the figure! And all I remembered about the figure was scarlet eyes!" Hagrid finished dramatically. There was a wide eyed silence and Hermione let out a little squeak.
"But I probably imagined it," said Hagrid. "After all, I got knocked out." Harry, Hermione and Terry continued staring at Hagrid very wide eyed.
"Anyway," said Hagrid, "went to visit the dragons! There doing nicely." They visited the dragons, who had grown much bigger than he last saw them.
"What is it this time," said a dragon. Harry replied without thinking.
"Just thinking," he said. The dragon narrowed his eyes.
"A s-peaker..." He hissed. "H-how can you speak reptile?" Harry was just about to answer when..
"Harry! Are you speaking to a dragon!" Hermione' s voice broke through.
"Wait, Harry can speak to dragons?" said Terry confused.
"Harry how long?" asked Hermione.
"Er, for ages," said Harry confused. "What's wrong though? I thought it was usual for dragons to speak?" Terry looked disbelieving at Harry's knowledge of the Wizarding World.
"No Harry," said Hermione, "it isn't usual at all. In fact, I don't think I have actually heard of people speaking to dragons. Except snakes, but they oh!"
"What?" said Harry and Terry together.
"What if you could speak to snakes?" Hermione exclaimed. "Then you could probably speak to all reptiles since they are reptiles too!"
"Yeh mean Harry here, can talk to my dragons?" said Hagrid.
"Exactly!" said Hermione. "He's a parselmouth!"
"Um.. how many parselmouths are they?" asked Harry. Hermione and Terry's smiles flickered.
"Er, Harry mate," said Terry carefully, " take me wrong but the last known parselmouth was was a pause. Then-
"Of course Harry here isn't dark," said Hermione quickly. Terry, Hermione and Hagrid all wanted to ask the dragon questions and wanted Harry to ask them and translate for them. They had fun for a while, but Terry's words still rang in his ears.
last known parselmouth was you-know-who
Did that mean Harry should have been put in Slytherin, where he belonged, supposed with the house of evil? Was that why the sorting hat wanted to put him in Slytherin? Had he perhaps, sensed the parseltounge ability? These thought clouded Harry's mind.
They left after a while, going up for lunch. Hermione told Hagrid to visit the Hospital Wing if his head still hurt and Hagrid said he might go.
An awkward silence was around them. Harry finally broke it.
"That was Quirrell! I'm sure of it!" said Harry. "I saw a flash of red eyes too behind that turban and Quirrell must have been wearing a cloak!" There was a hushed silence.
"Do you think we should tell the teachers?" said Hermione finally, biting her lip.
"No," said Terry. "What if they laughed at us and told Quirrell! He would kill us!"
"But we don't even know if it is Quirrell," said Hermione, and was just about to carry on but stopped. They had reached the entrance hall and they didn't want to be overheard. Not with Malfoy with them. Harry saw him shoot a triumphant look at him. They quickly made their way towards their table, found a secluded spot and sat down.
"Anyway," continued Hermione, "how can we prove it?" They bickered all through lunch, and the rest of the afternoon until it was time for dinner. Harry's mind wasn't entirely focused on Voldemort and parselmouths. No, he had just remembered. They had forgotten to tell Hagrid all about Malfoy following him! Just then, Harry saw Draco Malfoy smirking at him knowingly.
"You know," he said to his friends, "I wouldn't be Potter's friend even if you paid me. His inflated head would be scorched with arrogance. "
Harry didn't miss the jab that was pointed at him. It took all his willpower not to take out his wand and attack him on the spot. Harry met Hermione and Terry at the entrance hall, who said they were going to ask Flitwick something.
"We said we wanted to see ask about a charm mixed with potions," said Terry.
"Er, but why did you even ask about it?" said Harry confused. "You could have just looked at the library or in one of our textbooks?l
"We know Harry," said Hermione, "what we really wanted to know where was Snape."
"Why?" said Harry. "I thought we all said it was Quirrell."
"We know," said Hermione again, " but we've got to have an alibi for Snape. That way, we can cross out him!"
"Anyway," said Terry, "We know that Snape was talking to Flitwick around the morning, because I saw them and Flitwick said that we should ask Snape if we wanted to know more. And Flitwick also mentioned that he was talking to him before the match ended, about the time when you had just finished your detention?"
"Oh," said Harry, now understanding. Snape could now be ruled out. Snape couldn't have been the person in the forest.
"See!" said Hermione proudly, "Terry actually thought of it."
Terry blushed and muttered something about reading a few muggle detective books.
Now they were certain it was Quirrell. He was the only one who could have done it. It all fitted. They sat down at the table, munching through Yorkshire pudding and Pork chops. Harry told them about forgetting to tell Hagrid about the dragons, but Terry said he had sent an owl to Harris and told him already.
"He's probably already moved it," Terry said cheerfully. "No proof see!"
Speaking of Malfoy, Malfoy was now complaining about having people grown up with muggles in this school.
"I mean, they're just not on the same level as we are, are they," said Malfoy, haughtily to tow boys who were basically his henchman, Crabbe and Goyle.
"I mean the mudbloods here don't even know about magic till they received their letter! Imagine!" Harry was very glad that he when had heard Malfoy was sorted into Slytherin, he had immediately begged the sorting hat to not sort him with Slytherin. Harry was very glad now that he was friends with Terry and Hermione. He didn't know what he would do without them! He supposed Gryffindor would be alright, though he had heard a person called Dean Thomas complaining about his fellow dorm mate's loud snoring waking him up and not having any sleep.
They finally gotten an agreement. They were going to see Dumbledore about the stone and their suspicions about Prof. Quirrell. But they never got their chance. For when they were eating dinner, Professor. McGonagall stood up and made a very surprising announcement.
"Please can I have your attention," she said imperiously. " We regret to inform you that we have some bad news." Harry had a plummeting feeling about this. Had Malfoy blabbed about the dragons? Surely not? But the next words took Harry, Terry and Hermione from complete surprise.
"Professor Quirrell had handed in his resignation." she said. There was a silence, then as though like a car starting up, a buzzing filled the hall, until voices were talking. Students all looked at one another and began to talk. Harry looked at Hermione and Terry who were both looking at him in shock.
"What happened?"
"Is he ill?"
"Wonder who who have next? I hope they're better than Quirrell!" McGonagall raised her wand and several loud cracks issued from it. They quietened down.
"Thank you," she said. "However we have some issues. Quirrell's contract lasted the whole year but he resigned early, so we our at a fix what to do. We have decided to hold a meeting in London, with the board of governors. Most of the teachers will be there. We will hold a conference and then we shall meet Prof Quirrell in his home. However, Professor Snape will remain to supervise you. I trust that you will be more able to take care of your selves when we are gone. That is all. Thank you." She sat down again, and the students stated talking again.
"He's going after the stone, tonight" Harry said urgently as they quickly finished dinner and walked back towards the common room.
"We must tell the teachers," said Hermione up at once.
"No," said Terry. "It's too late." They entered the common room and looked glumly at each other.
"I'm going after the stone, tonight to try and beat Quirrell to the stone," said Harry. They gaped at him.
"Harry you can't- You'll get killled!"
"I have to!" said Harry. " If Quirrell gets the stone then Voldemort comes back to life and then it will be all over." Silence again. Then,
"We're coming with you," said Terry.
"Yes," said Hermione. "We are." Harry tried to argue.
"We have a right as much as you do," said Hermione very quietly. Harry's shoulder slumped in defeat.
"Ok," he said ,"you two can come."
"Right," said Hermione brightly, "now I'm off to read about breaking enchantments and all that, want to come?" They helped, looking up various spells they might have to tackle, preparing for the fight to the Philosopher's Stone.
Yeah! Got a chapter finished. Now Harry, Terry and Hermione are stopping the person who is after the Philosopher's Stone. Okay. We are heading towards the last few chapters. Expect 2 or 3 more. That's all. See you.
