Overlord Universe.
One Hundred And Fifty Years Since The Banishment Of The Third Overlord.
The Infernal Abyss.
Abyssal Palace Throne Room.
"So this is how the world ends," the Third Overlord, otherwise known throughout the entire world as the Infernal God, dispassionately watched through a magical window into the mortal plane. "Not by the stupidity or greed of the various sentient races of the world but by dimensional parasites obsessed with gaining immortality." The mystical view screen showed the slayer of the Forgotten One images of locations and the various races that called those places home being destroyed and consumed by two silver and gold humanoid entities. Whose primary goal seemed to be killing and retrieving the shards of power that they'd gifted to the races of the world.
The Infernal God's burning crimson orbs narrowed with hatred and scorn as the entities continued their rampage through what was once upon a time the capital of the Glorious Empire. The ones brave or foolish enough to fight back against the parasitic duo were easily killed off by the muscular golden male. Their shards were collected by the beautiful silver female. Those who didn't possess a fragment were exterminated with the same ferocity as those gifted with a piece of the abominations. Once the extermination and harvesting of shards was done, the parasites obliterated the capital and soared away to their next target.
"These parasitic creatures are truly arrogant and foolish if they believe that their actions shall grant them what they seek." The former Overlord continued to watch from his obsidian throne as the entities butchered everything or anyone unlucky enough to be within the parasites' line of sight. The Infernal God even chuckled darkly. Some elves prayed to the Mother Goddess for salvation, completely oblivious that the female creation deity had died from personally fighting the parasites a few days ago.
"For death comes for everyone eventually," the Infernal God summoned a glass of wine. "Not even the divine can escape death's cold embrace forever." The Third Overlord slowly took a sip of wine whilst lazily watching the end of the world.
Unlike many of the divine beings who knew about the Mother Goddess's death, the Infernal God wasn't surprised by the goddess's demise. Faith and honest devotion had been slowly declining ever since the former Overlord's castle exploded and caused The Great Cataclysm. Emperor Solarius and his Glorious Empire had, over the years, destroyed temples and sites of worship; without a constant supply of faith and energy given through prayers, the Mother Goddess power had been significantly weakened and thus allowed the parasites to kill the creator of the world.
"However, while the parasites have failed to understand this simple truth," the Infernal God banished the wine from his hand. "I've embraced it and learned that as death takes our souls from this reality. Life shall come forth from the remains." With a snap of his fingers, two fist-sized black and white crystals manifested before the demonic God's throne. These tiny crystals were The Infernal God's recreations of the parasites own shards. However, unlike the entities shards, these won't simply lech off the host and subtly force the unlucky soul to fight and kill for data; instead, the crystals shall entirely fuse with their hosts and grant them the power needed to kill the parasites once and for all.
The former hero gazed into the depths of the crystals for a moment before fusing them. "The Mother Goddess is gone only a fragment used to forge the white crystal remains," it had been an ungodly pain to convince the creation goddess to part with a fragment of her soul, yet now that the end times were upon them, it had indeed been worth the effort to obtain. "And the dark crystal created from a remnant of the Forgotten One, my ascended powers and the mantle of the Overlords." The dark crystal was more complicated to forge than its white counterpart as it had required fusing three parts from potent sources to accomplish its birth.
"Now, all that's left to do is trick the entities into taking the fused crystal into either of their bodies." The world was doomed; there wasn't any way to save it from destruction, yet with this last scheme, the Overlord turned God would make sure that by the time the dust finally settles, he'd be the one to have the last laugh. A quick illusion spell transformed the fused crystal into an exact replica of a parasitic shard. It shall fool the entities long enough for the Infernal God's plan with the crystal to work, and by the time the entities figure anything out, it will be far too late to stop it.
With disguised crystal in hand, the Infernal God summoned his massive legions comprised of wraiths and other evil spirits. The hellish landscape of the Infernal Abyss rumbled as millions of armoured feet marched towards the palace. The army of the damned had grown over the past one hundred and fifty years since the Infernal God had slain his predecessor and took the Infernal Throne for himself. It shouldn't be surprising as souls, even without a dark deity guiding them, could still be sent to the Infernal Abyss and face their well-deserved punishments for their sins.
Once every wraith legion was assembled at the Infernal palace's gates, the Infernal God used his dark divine powers to teleport the whole army of the damned to the mortal plane where the last great battle upon this world would take place. The legions and their master knew that victory against the parasites wasn't the objective. Their main goal was to weaken and tire them until neither parasite would notice an extra shard amongst the untold number they've already harvested from the mortal races.
"We'll all perish this day," the Third Overlord summoned a massive spiked mace that was constructed from Infernal metal, an unholy metal that can only be found within the Infernal Abyss. "Yet from our destruction, revenge upon the parasites can be obtained." The evil God opened a gateway to the mortal plane and stepped through it; for the first time in over a hundred years, the Infernal God shall walk amongst the mortals and do battle against his enemies.
The Mortal Plane.
The Town Of Nordberg.
The Thinker entity, otherwise known by its mate as Eden, uncaringly watched as Zion used a combination of fire-based shards to engulf the once peaceful town of Nordberg in an inferno of burning death. It was childish of Zion to take out its frustrations out on the town of humans. However, Eden couldn't entirely fault her mate as it was taking far longer than usual to gather their shards and explode the entire planet. The strange overweight creature calling itself The Mother Goddess, which they encountered days ago, had even caused a great deal of damage to both entities before she was finally put down.
"It's such a shame that nothing is remaining of that unique life-form," Eden used a blaster shard to savagely kill a family of five that had just tried to escape from Zion's wrath. "The overweight female could've provided much interesting data." However, much to Eden's annoyance, The Mother Goddess, after realising defeat was inevitable, had used the last of her godly power to eradicate herself from the world. It was such a waste of potential data and knowledge that Eden had exterminated the entire elven population as a means of petty revenge against the dead goddess.
The deceased Mother Goddess wasn't even the only obstacle that had been delaying Eden and Zion's quest to retrieve their shards from the local planet's population. The magic wielders and the various magical creatures, both light and dark, have cost the entities months worth of precious time and energy. It was also frustrating for Eden to learn that the strange mystical power that allowed this world's inhabitants to use magic was out of her and Zion's capabilities to use. That little discovery made her beloved mate cause several volcanos across the planet to explode, an understandable reaction as the task to exterminate the magical races had cost them many shards.
Eden frowned whilst mentally calculating the benefits and losses that this world had given the travelling duo of multidimensional entities within microseconds. The Thinker concluded that planets with the capability to use magic were best avoided. It takes too much time and effort to seed their shards into the local population and then harvest them once the experiments were completed. In the end, it just wasn't cost-effective to try planting magical worlds, plus magic was too unstable and dangerous to try creating specialised shards to control the unique energy source.
As Eden contemplated on the next world to visit and seed with shards, Infernal gateways suddenly appeared across the entire Nordberg settlement, causing both Eden and Zion to stop what they're doing and gaze upon the golden structures with confusion and interest. From the golden Infernal Gateways came the wraith legions. Twisted souls of the most evil beings to ever walk the earth marched out into Nordberg's streets carrying swords, daggers, shields, bows, and every kind of primitive weapon that the entities have ever seen in their travels.
The wraiths upon the ground were the least of the entities problems as Infernal Dragons soared out from multiple gateways and gleefully proceeded to burn the mutated monstrosities that Eden had created from the local animal populace to help with exterminating the remaining sentient races. The sudden attack caused Eden's advanced mind to pause as such an overwhelming assault against her, and Zion wasn't anticipated by The Thinker entity. Fortunately, Eden's beloved warrior wasn't kept stunned for long and was already engaging with the wraith legions within the human settlement.
"This must be quite a surprise for you, abomination?"
Eden kept a blank expression as the Infernal God appeared before her, The Thinker Entity wouldn't ever admit it, but the heavily armored and skull-themed Overlord was giving Eden a sense of fear. It shouldn't have been possible as Eden was and always shall be a higher life-form than the expendable vermin of this mystically infused planet, yet, as she gazed into the burning eyes of a true god. The Thinker felt a sense of dread and despair that none of the entities throughout the multiverse have felt since the first few millennia of their existence.
The Infernal God brandished his Abyssal Mace while glaring disdainfully at the female Entity. "To learn that for all the abilities granted to your parasitic kind," wraiths with bat-like wings soared from the gateways and joined their God as he confronted the Entity whilst the other one was distracted by the wrath legions and Infernal Dragons. "Shall one day cease to exist and that all the horror and death you've inflicted upon untold civilisation will be for nothing." Eden's blank face morphed into a nasty snarl upon hearing the dark God's cruel words.
"Rejection!" Eden snarled, sending a massive energy blast born from combining multiple Blaster Shards, all the while cursing the Infernal God within her mind. Who did this lesser being think he was even to dare insinuate that the entities would die out before the grand project was finalised, the entities were the highest form of life within the multiverse! And thus deserved immortality and to rule over every lesser species that they came across whilst travelling the limitless worlds within the multiverse.
"It is impossible to deny death entity," with a lazy swing of his Abyssal Mace, the Infernal God separated the energy blast that could've erased a small continent into two halves. Much to Eden's disbelief as she could only gaze with anger and shock as The Infernal God floated towards her Abyssal Mace resting upon his left shoulder. "To believe oneself above the rule of death is the height of delusion and insanity." Wraiths sailed towards Eden with weapons raised, ready to kill the abomination that had dared to stand against their Lord.
Eden blasted the charging wraiths into nothing but ashes. However, whilst she was distracted with the damned souls of the Infernal Abyss, The Infernal God had closed the distance and violently slammed the Abyssal Mace into the Entity's exposed back, causing Eden to be sent flying into a nearby Nordberg house. The Infernal God didn't stop there as he summoned a massive ball of Infernal Flames and gleefully proceeded to throw it at the house containing the downed Entity. Within mere moments the flaming ball smashed into the house, causing everything within to burn and melt from the intensity of the heat.
As Eden tried to escape the hellish inferno that was trying to devour her flesh and soul, Zion suddenly appeared and angrily smashed his fist into the Infernal God's helmet, sending the dark deity soaring into another building. Which swiftly collapsed from the impact. With the former hero out of the way, Zion rushed into the inferno that had entrapped his mate and quickly used shards specialised in water and air manipulation to extinguish the raging inferno created by the Infernal God. Who a few moments after Zion extinguished, the inferno rocketed out of the collapsed house. He glared with disdain at the entities.
"So the mindless brute comes to protect its mate," more wraiths and Infernal Dragons marched out of the Infernal Gateways. "It wouldn't be enough! Your time has come, parasites!" The Infernal God waved a hand, and the legions and demons under the dark God's command charged the entities with the full intention of tearing Eden and Zion limb from bloody limb.
Eden and Zion glared defiantly at the dark deity that dared challenge them. "Rejection!" Both entities roared whilst using their respective shards to obliterate the surrounding legions of the damned. Sadly it only temporarily stopped the wraiths as more and more kept coming out of the Infernal Gateways attacking everything tainted by the entities. Worse, Eden noticed that the newly summoned legions were actually the same wraiths and dragons that had first appeared from the gateways leading into the Infernal Abyss. Some were still in the middle of regenerating from their wounds and were glaring hatefully up at the creatures that slain them.
"It's pointless to resist parasites," the Infernal God appeared in front of the entities with his mace held high. "For no matter how many of my wraiths and other servants you slay, there shall always be thousands more to take their place!" The former Overlord turned God smashed the mace into Zion's face sending the Entity's avatar soaring away from the battlefield. Eden tried to intervene only to receive a concentrated blast of Infernal fire to the front for the trouble. The hellish fire melted over half of Eden's face before she used healing shards to reverse the damage done by the supernatural flames.
Things didn't stop there as wraiths swarmed Eden wildly, stabbing at everything and anything that might be a weak point; as for Zion, he was getting bathed in dragon fire which was melting the weakest parts of his flesh. It wasn't enough to kill the male Entity. However, Zion's regenerative capabilities prevented the hellfire from finishing him off, and much like Eden, the warrior entity's avatar form was healed within moments. Once the damage was gone, Zion went back on the attack sending tens of thousands of wraiths and other hellish monsters back to the Infernal Abyss. Too bad for the entities that the dead didn't stay that way for long as the vanquished wraiths returned with a vengeance.
The entitles raged as the wraiths wounded their avatars with twisted weaponry forged from the Infernal Abyss' unholy flames. It was madding to creatures such as Eden and Zion. They, for countless millennia, have traveled the multiverse, ravaging and destroying an uncountable number of worlds and civilizations without encountering anything that might be called a resistance. Yet, now they're against a single entity that was giving them more trouble than the combined might of all those that they've devoured before coming to this strange world.
The entities realising that holding might actually result in their deaths summoned their most powerful shards. They once more blasted the wraiths into ashes; without wasting a moment, Eden and Zion returned to the sky and turned to glare at the Infernal God, whose legions had already reinforced their dark master with more troops. The man that had once been a hero of the currently dying world grinned darkly as his plan was coming together quite nicely now; all that remained was to tire out the entities before they eventually overwhelmed his legions.
The Infernal God moved his mace and intimidating form into a salute. "From death, we shall take our revenge!" The entities were confused by what the dark God just said yet were unable to contemplate his words for long as the wraiths lead by their master charged towards Eden and Zion with the full intention of murdering them.
The Entities sneered and raced towards the legions with the same goal in mind as them; the end of the world and the final battle for the Infernal God has truly begun. The earth shall tremble as the battling forces unleashed powers that should've remained as a last resort. Yet were used when both sides kept increasing their capabilities and energy levels bound what any mortal being could never hope to withstand, let alone survive. It was the end times, and the entities and the Infernal God will be the ones to herald the world's final hours.
Time Skip Fifteen Years After The Infernal, God Appeared To Challenge The Entities.
The Ruins Of Nordberg.
It took Eden and Zion fifteen terrible years of relentless battles and an untold number of shard sacrifices to finally be able to kill The Infernal God. It had cost Eden and Zion every new shard they created and harvested on this accursed planet to remove the former Overlord from the multiverse. Yet it was a hollow victory, and both entities knew that the Infernal God had robbed them of everything they've worked so hard to create on this world. Worse still, the landscape was a hellish inferno across the globe as a whole, meaning that trying to start again with fresh meat to house their shards was impossible.
Eden was furious with the losses that they've taken, thanks to the drawn-out fifteen-year battle against the Infernal God. It was going to take decades before she and Zion recovered from this incident. That wasn't accounting for how Eden was now forced to carefully calculate their future voyages, as ending up on another magically infused planet was not what she ever wanted to happen again. Not after this madness and the waste of valuable shards. Not to mention the near termination of Zion when The Infernal God had managed to separate them during the halfway point of their fifteen-year battle. It was the closest Eden had ever gotten to losing Zion, and that wasn't an experience she'd ever want to repeat.
After incinerating the last remnants of Nordberg, the Thinker Entity was quick to start gathering all of the Bio-Tinker shards that she used to create an army of monstrosities to fight back against the Infernal God's wraith legions. It was a minor miracle that these particular shards had survived their foe's relentless onslaught. Yet, they had and were now returning to their respective Entity and empowering them once more. However, thanks to Eden's and Zion's tired state of mind, neither of them noticed that the disguised black and white crystal was absorbed into Eden's flesh just as The Infernal God planned from the start of this conflict.
Once Eden was sure that everything linking the dead winter lands to either Nordberg or the Infernal God was eradicated, she sailed into the sky. She began to telepathically communicate with Zion, who was busy checking the planet's areas for any remaining signs of the wraiths or other damned monsters that lived within the Infernal Abyss. It was a tiresome task, yet for the sake of his beloved mate's safety, he'd spend as much time as needed to ensure that the threat of the Infernal God was exterminated once and for all.
"Completion, satisfactory, desire, travel." Eden sent her emotions and desires to leave the dead world through the connection. Zion responded in microseconds and sent back his own feelings to Eden. Who raised an eyebrow when The Warrior Entity expressed the desire to stay and check everywhere on the hellish planet for signs of their recently defeated enemy, making sure that they can't return and threaten them a second time.
The Thinker entity gave the idea serious thought, weighing both the pros and cons of letting Zion stay on the dead world for a little longer. After contemplating every possible outcome and the use of The Path To Victory Shard, Eden agreed and used multiple multidimensional travel-based shards to open a hole in the fabric of space, time so that she might safely leave the planet. Once through the rift, Eden set a course for Earth Bet, a world that showed much promise when seeding and harvesting shards from the populace.
It was too bad that in Eden's arrogance and belief that the shards made her practically invincible. She failed to notice that the crystal was already working its way throughout her form and has begun the task that its creator had given it before his death.
Earth Bet Approximately Forty-Seven Years Before Zion Arrived.
Location Of Eden's Arrival Central Africa.
Eden floated above the continent of Africa, its beautiful jungles, poorly kept settlements, and the mistreated African population's general attitude made this particular area of Earth Bet a satisfactory testing ground for the first shards to be seeded on this planet. The Thinker Entity raised her arms to the sky and prepared for the separation of her fragments; however, before Eden could start the process of seeding the African continent. A white-hot pain suddenly spread throughout her silver form as the crystal took its chance and used its divine power that came from two gods and seized control of the female parasite's body.
"Confusion! Shock! Displeasure! Demand release!" Eden screamed within her trapped form as the crystal started consuming shards from within the parasite for additional power. The Thinker Entity could only watch on in unrivalled rage as the crystal containing the remnants of the Goddess of Light and the dark gods brought forth its divine might and started to change the very reality of Earth Bet. Shards vanished one after the other as the landscape was changing and shifting before Eden's eyes. The timeline that would've ended with the death of Zion by Taylor Hebert's hands was obliterated, and a new path that the Entity had no clue as to its beginning or end was created.
It got worse as the crystal consumed Eden's vast knowledge on biology and, much to the Entity's disbelief, was recreating and improving the races that had once inhabited the world she and Zion had just destroyed. Once the improvements were completed, the crystal forced Eden to use more shards to spread its creations throughout Earth Bet. After that was done, more and more continents went through a startling transformation that to Eden's eyes appeared to be as if the crystal had taken the entire world of Bet and photoshopped over various places with bits and pieces of its former world.
Of course, Eden tried to fight back every step of the way against the crystal that was leeching off of her shards. Yet, it was useless as time and space across Earth Bet was changed beyond reversing as the remnant of the gods removed everything that wouldn't help with killing Zion and all of the other entities. Within hours everything that the crystal needed to manipulate for its master's grand plan for revenge was completed. A fact that Eden was quick to notice as the crystal split into two halves, each piece contained the godly powers of the Mother Goddess and the rulers of the Infernal Abyss.
The Thinker tried to reach out and adsorb the divine powers locked within the crystals. Yet, Eden's shards' draining left the Entity far too weak even to try such an attempt. And could only watch in horror as the crystals blasted away from the area to seek out suitable hosts to inherit the powers of the deities that had caused the entities so much trouble. As Eden stood above the clouds, she came to realise that something else was wrong as more energy was being taken from her body, and if nothing was done, she'll die before Zion could find Eden's injured form.
The Thinker Entity tried to save herself from deaths cold embrace, sacrificing hundreds upon thousands of shards in a hopeless attempt to stop the energy drain. It wouldn't stop the inevitable as the travelling crystals took more and more energy to help them in their search for those that will inherit the legacy of the gods. It might of taken hours, months, or even years for the last bits of life-force to be consumed. Yet, either way, the result was the same Eden, the Thinker Entity like a comet come soaring from the sky and crashed landed within a newly formed jungle near the least populated area of Africa.
Eden was dead. Her life-force and shards were used to change Earth Bet via the crystals in ways that can not be understood. History was now in chaos, readily waiting for those with enough skill, power and charm to write their names and legacies for all those of Earth Bet to witness. Zion would eventually find his way to Earth Bet and follow a similar path of a hero and protector that one man had desired for the Warrior Entity to take. However, this time forces just as powerful as Zion shall growing and take the world by storm as the crystals, after years of searching, found those that would inherit the power left by the Mother Goddess and The Infernal God.
The Reborn Realm Of The Infernal Abyss.
Remains Of The Infernal Abyss Palace.
Infernal Palace Royal Bedchambers.
"Hum, so this is the last great hope for evil?" Thoughtfully said Gnarl, Minion Master, devoted servant of darkness and chief advisor to the currently sleeping Overlord/Demonic deity. "She's a little young to be an Overlord, but that's nothing time, and a few good trips to random villages to pillage and spread some true carnage wouldn't solve." Gnarl wickedly chuckled whilst gazing upon the slumbering form of Taylor Hebert A.K.A the inheritor of the title of Infernal God and the responsibilities of an Evil Overlord. It had surprised Gnarl that a teenager was the one to inherit his former Lord's godly powers.
Gnarl frowned while stroking his goatee. "The Transference into this new reality has also changed us, minions." An excellent example was that the minion master, Giblet, Quaver and Mortis, the only minions currently alive within the Infernal Abyss Palace's ruins, were far taller than they used to, almost the size of a fully grown human adult. Gnarl's own silent observations revealed that he and the others were far more sturdier and resilient to pain than when they were still in their old world. Gnarl was confident that future minions born from The Brown Hive, which was the only hive currently in his new Overlord's possession, would produce minions possessing the same 'upgrades' as himself and the others.
Of course, extensive and thorough testing would need to be done to ensure that was the case. The Minion Master could already imagine the excitement and happy faces of various minions as they gladly die in the service of their new Overlord. It always warmed Gnarl's ancient heart to witness minions murdering, looting, stealing and just unleashing senseless carnage in the name of the Overlord.
"Ah, it does excite my wicked heart to know that a new grand evil shall soon take the stage." Gnarl lazily walked to the only entrance to the royal chambers. "Those parasites may have won the battle for our old home," Gnarl exited the room whilst also ordering Giblet, who was assigned to guard their sleeping master, to inform him when Taylor finally wakes up immediately. "But in the end, we'll come out as the ultimate victors of this war. Because evil is patient, cunning and knows when to pick its battles and can survive anything, the forces good might try using against us because evil…"
Gnarl chuckled evilly as he descended the ruined stairway, leading to the minion hive chambers, as the Minion Master wanted to have a little talk with Mortis about how they'll open an Infernal Gateway into the Mortal Plane. After all, it wouldn't do to have their Overlord stuck within the Infernal Abyss and not out and about causing mayhem and evil deeds.
"Always Finds way!"
