Risk of Being Found
Chapter 6
Edward and Garrett had settled into wedded bliss and were the typical newlyweds. Having dinners and spending time with them was refreshing after a stressful week, especially since they worked in the same field and we could all vent to each other. Garrett and Felix would laugh at Edward and I as we'd complain about doctors.
"I had a patient yell at me because her doctor didn't call in her prescriptions on time! She said that's why she was in the ED." He laughed "She was in there because she sliced her hand open!"
"Maybe she was shaky?" Garrett snarked.
"No, more like she probably drank an entire bottle of cheap wine, because she smelled like rotten grapes." He made a face.
"Hey, I had to listen to a woman talk about her raw ass because she's had diarrhea for a week."
They all started laughing.
And that is how most of our time was spent.
Our first anniversary was coming up and Felix wanted to get dressed up for a night on the town. I agreed because we were homebodies with Edward and Garrett most of the time.
Felix had reservations at a brand-new restaurant that just opened. His family knew the owners. Then he was taking me to our favorite jazz club.
Edward and I went shopping and I found an amazing dress, composed of a melon and cream combination. The melon top was tank top style, and the skirt was a bias-cut with a silver jeweled belt and center back zipper. I found a pair of cream-colored heels and a matching handbag and I was pairing it with a pair of my grandmother's silver drop earrings. Edward found Felix a matching melon colored handkerchief to go in his pocket.
Edward talked me into a spa day the morning of and we proceeded to get mani/pedis and a massage as well as a makeover. He helped me get ready so I wouldn't mess up my makeup and hair, and insisted on staying until Felix was dressed so he could take our picture.
Felix had opted for a simple brown tweed suit and loved the handkerchief Edward picked out.
Felix had arranged for a limo to take us out so we could enjoy ourselves.
Arriving at the restaurant and seeing the people waiting to get in, I questioned Felix "Are you sure we've got reservations?"
"Sweet woman, I wouldn't lie." He tried to do a southern accent and failed, making me laugh.
Helping me out of the car, we bypassed the line and were escorted in through a side entrance.
"I feel like this should be illegal."
Felix just rolled his eyes at me.
We were led into a quiet table at the back of the restaurant overlooking a beautiful little garden.
"This is beautiful."
"Wait until you taste the food." Felix smiled.
The waiter came by and Felix ordered our wine and almond-bacon cheese crostini. I had no idea what to expect, but it was delicious. I ordered pork lettuce wraps, which came with a side of assorted vegetables and Felix ordered the mango mahi-mahi with a side of jasmine rice. We shared our food which was delicious, and we shared a salted caramel cheesecake.
"Ready for some jazz?" He helped me up and I nodded as I snuggled into his side.
When we arrived at the theatre I gave him a questioning look. "Why isn't there anyone here?" I asked.
"We've got a private show." He wiggled his eyes.
"Felix, I don't need a private show, that's too much." I protested.
"I want you to have everything your heart desires." Felix kissed me softly as we walked in.
The lighting was dim, and a table was set up in the middle with candles, wildflowers, wine and a charcuterie board.
"You've outdone yourself tonight." I smiled as I pulled him on the dance floor.
As we were dancing, the band continued to play soft jazz music and Felix was placing soft kisses all over my face.
"Bella, I just want you to know how much I love you and I can't imagine my life without you." Felix held me close as he whispered in my ear.
"I feel the same way Felix. You taught me I could trust again. Thank you."
The next thing I know, Felix is getting down on one knee and our family and friends come walking out.
"Bella, I have thought about this moment for months. My heart has been filled with love and joy since I met you. You are a dream come true. We were made for each other. I promise to be there for you every moment of our lives. I am asking you to take this next step with me. Will you marry me, Bella?"
"YES!" I did not even hesitate.
Felix told me that the ring was a Bezel solitaire 3.9 carat round diamond in a platinum setting, I didn't care about the type of ring, I was just happy for this day and that I was finally able to start the next chapter of my life.
AN:
