Chapter Twenty Six

"How can you…?" Rory giggled as Logan lifted her up and he slipped inside of her easily, she lost her train of thought as she was gently propped against the Carrara Marble countertop and felt the coolness on her ass as he waited a moment for her to adjust. When she did she kept her arms firmly on his shoulders as he began to move slowly in and out, the truth was she wanted him to move faster but she also was enjoying the relaxing pace of their early morning lovemaking. "Oh my god," Rory moaned at the sensation of him.

"You're beautiful," Logan was massaging her breasts with his right hand and his tongue. Nipping and sucking as he pumped in and out of her, slowly picking up the pace with her encouragement.

"Harder," Rory grinned as she tossed her head back for a moment which allowed him better access to her breasts as she wrapped her legs firmly around his waist. "Oh my god I love you."

"Tell me again," Logan grunted, he playfully nipped at her neck.

She knew he wasn't talking about her proclamation of love, that was hardly new. He loved when she was direct about what she wanted in bed, he loved when the doe eyed, soft spoken woman he loved came apart before his eyes. "Fuck me harder," Rory moaned and he certainly lived up to his end of the bargain as he quicken his pace.

He couldn't tell you if it was seconds or minutes or hours later as she pulled her body closer to him and then their lips were fused together, tongues duelling for a moment until she pulled away, her eyes were fluttering back and a smile was dancing on her lips, he knew she was getting closer, "come on Ace," he encouraged her, as much as he loved starting his day like this, it was never as long as he wanted. The reality of the day ahead was lingering in the back of their minds, but there was something about the way she had walked across the bedroom in just his t-shirt that morning that he couldn't resist when he had pulled her into the master bathroom.

"Oh my god," Rory threw her head back in pleasure as Logan thrust into her, his head buried in the crook of her neck as he felt her muscles contracting around him. "Fuck," she cried as his fingers moved between their mouths and he covered hers to keep the noise from travelling to his children.

"Come on Ace," he looked up at her and smiled as she bit down on his finger which turned out to be his unravelling as well as they both came. He held her up against the counter for a moment before pulling out and kissing her, "good morning."

"Good morning," Rory grinned.

"DAD!" Olivia shouted from what sounded like the hallway, "RORY!"

"Good timing," Rory kissed him quickly as Logan set her down, she could hear the shouts getting closer.

"Life with kids," Logan smirked. Rory had been staying with them a couple of days earlier than planned with Olivia's persistence of course. "You go?"

"RORY? WHERE ARE YOU?"

"One minute Livie," Rory shouted from the bathroom as she turned on the faucet to wash her hands. "I don't even have pants."

"Wear my shirt," Logan told her as he passed her the old Yale t-shirt he had worn to bed which had ended up on the floor, Rory pulled it on and at least knew it covered her butt before Logan retreated to the corner so Olivia wouldn't see him and Rory stepped outside into the bedroom, closing the door tightly behind her..

"Hey kiddo," Rory smiled as she walked to the closet.

"Where's my Dad?" Olivia crossed her arms across her chest as she watched Rory make her way to the closet.

"He's in the bathroom."

"You were just in the bathroom…"

"Uh huh," Rory nodded as she tried to pull on a pair of sweatpants without flashing the little girl in front of her. "He was just helping me with something."

"Can you make pancakes for breakfast?"

"Livie, you don't normally have pancakes on school days. I think we can have pancakes tomorrow."

"Will Tia be here tomorrow?"

"Tia is coming tonight for your school show and then I think that everyone is coming for brunch before your grandparents go back to Hartford." Rory didn't add if they leave for Hartford which had been the question the last few days as Shira kept mentioning how lovely Christmas as a family would be, Logan had mentioned more than once that he intended to have Christmas with his family, but those comments seemed to go straight over Shira's head.

"Will they leave presents?" Olivia asked.

Rory was barely paying any attention, mostly just relieved that she was now dressed in front of the child. "Why don't we go get you cheerios or toast, and Daddy will be down in a minute?" She added the last bit a little bit louder so Logan would know he was on a timer to get downstairs and actively participate with the morning. Jack was still asleep and he could stay in bed until Logan was out of the shower. "Just us girls can have breakfast together…"

Olivia considered the suggestion for a moment and then nodded her head, "did you know you get to see my teacher tonight?"

Rory smiled as they went down the stairs, Rory a couple of steps in front of Olivia, "I do know that and I'm very excited. Did you know that my old job was teaching?"

"You were a teacher? For me?"

"No," Rory laughed as they got into the kitchen, "not for you, for older kids. But I worked at a school."

"Why you stop?" Olivia grabbed her plastic plate from the drawer as Rory pulled out the toaster and bread.

Rory paused. There was no easy way to answer that question; 'because your Grandfather is an asshole who decided to try to fuck with your Dad…' didn't really seem appropriate, "I decided I wanted to be a writer, so I went back to where I grew up for a little while, and then I really missed California…"

"And me," Olivia giggled.

"Yes," Rory put the toast in the toaster and went about making herself a cup of coffee. "I really missed you and Jack and your Dad, so I came back."

"i'm glad you came back."

"I'm glad I came back too sweetheart."

Rory stood in the lobby of the school auditorium waiting for Logan with Jack on her hip. Logan had left her a few minutes earlier to go and find his in-laws and parents who had somehow managed to get lost on their way into the auditorium. "Daddy will be right back," Rory assured the little boy who was adorably dressed in a suit that matched his father.

"I Jack Jack," Jack grinned as he put both of his hands on Rory's cheeks, his fingers splayed out on her porcelain skin as he squeezed them together and giggled when she stuck her tongue out at him. "Tia!" Jack grinned and pointed behind Rory.

"Tia is here?" Rory grinned and turned around, relieve to see a somewhat familiar face. She had only met Victoria a handful of times but they got along well enough. Rory had to assume that Victoria was part of why Michael had come around to her. "Oh my goodness" Rory smiled as she saw the woman walking towards them. "Thank god you're here, I felt like a fish out of water and I swear, everyone keeps staring at me. It's like they know that I don't belong here!"

Victoria laughed. Her dark hair was pulled back into a bun and she was wearing a gorgeous black off the shoulder dress with a sweetheart neckline that managed to cling to her in all of the right places. "You look stunning, most of the women here will only be concerned with you because they thought they had a chance with Logan," she took Jack from Rory, "my little boy, who dressed you like a homebrecito? It must have been your Shira, the woman is loco," Victoria kissed Jack.

"Tia pretty," Jack kissed her cheek.

"Sweet boy," Victoria smiled as she saw her parents approaching with Logan a few steps behind with his own parents. "Now we should all pray that we get through this and hopefully Abuela will be more focused on your papa than she is my dress," Victoria spoke in a sing song voice as she bounced Jack on her hip playfully. "Mom! Dad!"

"Uppy!" Jack reached for Michael as soon as the older man reached him.

"Come here," Michael gladly took his grandson and greeted his daughter and Rory. "You two look beautiful."

Rory blushed, she felt out of place. Her NIC + ZOE dress was just a bit longer than she would've liked, falling midway down her calf and it didn't feel like it fit quite right. That however could've been because between moving to Hartford and back to San Francisco and all of the stress surrounding the upheaval in her life, Rory had lost some weight and hadn't managed to gain it back. She had blamed her aerobic sex life when Paris and Taylor had brought it up, but she couldn't say that in front of many other people. So now she was standing there in a black dress with diamond cutouts on the bodice and hem feeling like she was wearing a paper bag, oh and she couldn't forget that Logan had warned her not to talk about not looking good enough because he had already told her she was over thinking this and that not only did she look beautiful, but plenty of the options she had brought over would look perfect. Thankfully he had promised her this was the only Christmas occasion she would need to be dressed up for. Everything else was just family time and it was pretty casual. "Thank you," Rory smiled as she was greeted by Maria and then a moment later Mitchum and Shira.

Things with Mitchum and Shira were at least a tenuous peace. They had talked again earlier in the week, just Logan and his father and they had reached a truce of sorts wherein as long as Mitchum was behaving, they would coexist, but if Mitchum stepped out of line, Logan wouldn't hesitate to cut them off again permanently. Of course, Rory had immediately thought but didn't feel the need to point out; if Logan was in charge of deciding what exactly was out of line, Mitchum was essentially doomed to fail. It was a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts. At the very least she hoped the two men would make it through the holidays…for the sake of Jack and Olivia of course.

"We should," Logan nodded to the open doors where people were filing in. He put his hand on the small of her back and as they walked Rory could hear Maria chastising Victoria for her choice of outfit only for Victoria to explain sarcastically in a hushed tone that she had a date afterwards and how did Maria ever expect Victoria to get married and pop out children if she didn't put the goods on display. "This is us," Logan kept Rory by his side as his in-laws filed in first, followed by his parents and then Rory and then himself. He knew that Jack would simply be passed up and down the row and that was fine with him.

"How long is this?" Rory leaned over and whispered into his ear. She smiled as she saw the hair on his neck stand up ever so slightly and took advantage of the dim lighting to lean forward and press a gentle kiss into the small gap of exposed skin between the collar of his white dress shirt and his ear.

"Longer than any of us would like," Logan smirked. "I'm sure Dad and Michael will be fighting for who gets to take Jack out of here pretty soon."

"Oh it can't be that bad," Rory laughed as he reached into her lap and took hold of her hand, lacing their fingers together and then bringing their hands to his lips and pressing a kiss onto her knuckles.

"It can be," Logan corrected her with a smile, she loved when his smile came from his cheeks, there was just something about it that was so child like and sweet. "But there is an intermission once we get to the third grade kids, so the younger year kids can go to their mini-reception for half an hour and then go home and we're all good for bedtime."

"Well whoever planned that deserves a raise," Rory giggled as the master of ceremonies came to the stage. She listened as he thanked the parents, he thanked the students, he talked about the importance of community and family, and then after what seemed like an eternity he introduced the first class of performers. Upon realizing that it wasn't Olivia's class, Rory promptly tuned out of the occasion. Sure, watching kids sing Christmas carols could be adorable, but something about the off-tune singing when you weren't invested in any of the children was a lot less appealing. It was another three performances and Rory estimated about seventeen minutes until Olivia sauntered on the stage showing her normal level of sass. Rory noticed how Shira sat up a bit straighter and nudged Mitchum in the ribs as the little girl and her class took the stage. "She looks cute," Rory had only seen the little girl wearing a Burberry jacket on her way out the door and hadn't seen the full look at Olivia's insistence.

"She will not shut up about the dress. Honor had it sent," Logan explained of the mint coloured lace dress that his sister had insisted that Olivia needed for her performance. Logan didn't even bother looking at the price tag. He had seen the Dolce and Gabbana tag and that was enough to let him know that it was absurdly priced. Sure, he liked expensive things, but he also knew enough not to spill ketchup all over himself and wasn't growing so fast that he needed a new wardrobe every three months.

"I wouldn't either."

"I'm sure my sister could get you one in your size," Logan made a face as the music started and Logan recognized the lyrics as something Olivia had been practicing at home for a few weeks. "Jesus," he groaned, regretting more than a little bit the Catholic private school his daughter was attending at the insistence of his in-laws.

Rory smirked and heard Jack let out a little squeal at the sight of his sister. She looked to her right and smirked as she saw Mitchum Huntzberger with his face contorted. She wasn't sure if he was having gas pains or trying to keep from laughing but with each word and action that came from the stage he seemed to be slightly more pained as his granddaughter sang Happy Birthday Baby Jesus with her classmates. Rory looked forward again as Olivia pretended to drum on her legs and the children sang off-key together. It was painful of course, as most things with that age group were, but it was also adorable. She saw that Maria was recording and Shira was trying to get a few photos despite the numerous requests for no flash photography…for the sake of the performers of course. Rory leaned back to her left and brought her lips towards Logan, "your dad looks like he is going to have a coronary."

"Something had to do the old bastard in," Logan whispered back, "might as well be baby Jesus."

Rory smirked as they both refocused their attention on the stage and watched as the kids sang and danced on stage. Olivia, ever the drama queen was happily twirling in the front of the group as she belted out the words at the top of her lungs. Rory couldn't help but feel her heart swell and as she looked out of the corner of her eye to the right of her she could see that same pride in Michael, Lucia, Victoria, Shira and even a little bit in Mitchum…not that he would ever admit that he was taking any pleasure in watching the performance. The performance ended and Olivia excitedly waved to her family and left with her classmates. Rory watched as a few minutes later they were all shuffled into a front row to watch the performances of their fellow younger students.

"Come on," Logan interrupted Rory's thoughts with a squeeze of her hand as the lights came back on and the MC explained that the lower class activities were completed. Logan stepped out and Rory found her way to his side while the rest of the group filed out, he did take advantage of the opportunity to grab Jack from Victoria, "he's not a man finding machine," Logan smirked as Jack snuggled against him. "Did you like watching sis?"

"Uh huh," Jack started playing with his own hair and smiling as Logan began walking up the aisle with Rory's hand still intertwined in his. "Where sis?"

"We'll see her in a minute," Logan told him. They made it back to the lobby which had been transformed into a small reception of sorts with finger foods and non-alcoholic beverages. Logan watched out of the corner of his eye as he saw his father realizing he would need to get through this without a single malt and remarkably Mitchum managed without steam coming from his ears.

"Rory," Jack reached out to Rory and immediately started to move from Logan to her, completely unaware of the fact that his father was not prepared for the lurch. "Hi," Jack smiled as Rory grabbed him and adjusted him on her hip.

"Hi sweet boy," Rory grinned, "should we get a snack? Or look for sis?"

"Chippies please. I want chippies."

Rory smiled and nodded towards the food stations so Logan would see where they were headed as he moved to chat with his parents. She noticed a few glances from other guests, mostly women as she took him to the snacks and let him point to what he wanted to eat and she put it on the plate for him. "Can we share?" Rory asked as she filled the plate. Jack made a face, unsure for a moment of what his response would be and Rory smiled as his face broke into a huge grin and he nodded his head, leaning forward and placing a wet kiss on her cheek. "I love you sweetheart," Rory told him quietly as they moved back to their group where Olivia was now gesticulating wildly to her father and grandparents about her performance and just how well she did. Jack began wiggling out of her arms and Rory put him on the ground so that he could see his sister; holding the plate of snacks until he came and said he wanted more.

"Rory," Olivia tugged at her arm.

"Yes?" Rory smiled and bent down to Olivia, "you did so well today, I loved watching you perform!"

"Come meet my friends," Olivia pulled at her arm once more.

Rory looked at Logan who shrugged, "Daddy and Jack too?"

"Sure," Olivia nodded even though her attention was focused solely on Rory as they began to migrate around the room. Rory was introduced to Olivia's two best friends from school. Macy and Cruz who, based on Rory's limited interaction with them seemed nice. Rory learned that Macy liked the movie Tangled and Rapunzel was her favourite princess, and Cruz liked Toy Story but he did not like Cars because of the whole Cruz Ramirez thing. Logan quietly explained that Cruz had for years thought that he was the only person named Cruz on the planet and it had been a struggle as far back as when the kids were in preschool together. "Oh! Oh! Miss Brown! Miss Brown!" Olivia giggled as she saw her teacher.

The red headed woman walked over with a smile to Olivia, "hi sweetheart. You performed so well. You were the best drummer I have ever seen!"

Olivia grinned and her face went a bit red at the compliment. Logan smiled and greeted the teacher who was immediately taken with Jack. "This is my Rory," Olivia tugged on Rory's arm, "she sleeps with my Daddy."

Rory was certain any colour in her face drained from it at that moment as she looked at the five year old in front of her with a wide grin on her face. "I…" Rory began fumbling over her words. "Logan and I are in a relationship," she clarified awkwardly, "I'm his girlfriend…"

Miss Brown laughed, of course she had heard nearly everything from kids over the years. She heard about parents who loved wine and parents who liked to snuggle naked, she heard about mommy snuggling uncles and daddy kissing the nanny…so hearing a little girl tell her that her father was in a relationship was certainly no surprise. "Well that must be nice," she kept her attention on Olivia, "to get to have more girl time."

Olivia curled her index finger towards herself to try to get Miss Brown to lean down. The woman bent down and Olivia whispered in her ear, unknowingly loud enough for everyone to hear. "I hope she never leaves."

Logan looked in the back seat of his Range Rover and smiled at the sight of his sleeping children. "Can I ask you something?" He looked at Rory who was staring out the window, she had told him a few days earlier how she liked to look at the Christmas lights as they drove.

"Anything."

"Do you…I mean, we talked before about kids…and the past…I just…I guess I'm wondering where you stand on that now." Logan wasn't sure what exactly he was saying because he didn't even know if he wanted more kids but he saw Rory with his own kids and he couldn't help but want a blue eyed, blonde haired baby of their own.

Rory looked at him, he expected to see a bit of fear or shock in her eyes, but instead there was a soft smile on her lips. "I love Olivia and Jack," Rory told him honestly. "And so…if we could have a baby…and it would be…" Rory swallowed the lump in her throat, "the five of us…"

Logan smiled. He thought back to what Lucia had told him shortly after he and Rory had gotten back together, she had told him that Lucia wouldn't have let him fall in love with someone who wasn't right for him, and for them, for all of them. He didn't particularly know what he believed about the afterlife, but looking at the woman beside him and seeing his kids in the back seat, he had to believe that Maria had been right. "The five of us sounds pretty perfect. I mean…you can't forget about the boys because sometimes they are like more kids…but…"

"They don't need to move in," Rory countered with a laugh.

"No and they are fully potty trained unless Finn has had too much to drink," he reached over the centre console and took her hand, giving is a quick squeeze, "you were great tonight."

"Well, I would hardly call Olivia a difficult child to be great with," Rory countered. She was never one to simply accept a compliment and no matter how long she was around Logan, that didn't seem to change.

"I meant my parents, and Michael and Maria…Miss Brown…"

Rory laughed a little bit thinking about the teacher who had now been told about her adult sleepovers. "That woman probably hears a lot."

"I would imagine so," Logan smirked. "You should hear some of the stuff the kids say at play dates. I didn't used to know until I started doing more of them, but…man…kids hear everything."

Rory cringed at the thought but of course she knew from her own experience as a teacher that it was true. "So…" she inhaled, "I'm not…I don't want you to think I'm…I don't expect anything…"

"Ace," Logan smirked, "you're rambling…I just asked you if you thought you might want to have a baby with me, so I think you can pretty much ask me anything at this point…"

"I always thought that before I had a kid…I would be married. Obviously I never thought that I would end up with children…like this…but…I just…"

Logan nodded, he understood what she was saying. "Well Lorelai Leigh Gilmore," he could see that Rory froze as he was speaking and he immediately understood why, "shit…no," he shook his head. "I'm not proposing. But… I think we're both on the same page about where we are heading and in the meantime maybe we can do some dry runs of the whole baby making thing?"

"Dry runs?" Rory raised her eyebrow and smirked.
