I Can't Go to a Hero School with my Little Sister!

Okay, uh, most of the characters have have powers and Kyousuke has powers and, uh, he goes to a hero school with his sister Kirino and he saves the world and the universe and stuff, doesn't get anymore complicated then that, I swear.

17. Chapter 17

Sorry about the long wait everyone and sorry the chapter isn't very long, lot of stuff been going on in my life, making plans to move, sister (no I don't have feelings for her) needed lots of help with her kids, work has been laying more mandatory hours on me and I've been trying to start up a small farm for supplemental income, I'll try to put out the next chapter faster, so I hope you enjoy this one.

Tokyo: Subterranean Offices

Ki: "Hmm, huh?"

Kirino had woken up after being knocked out by a big chunk of cement falling from the ceiling, she got up to see the whole room was a mess but fortunately everyone else was okay, Arika, Naoki and one of the computer operators were still conscious while the other one remained on the ground but still drew breath.

Ki: "Ow."

Ar: "Oh, hey little sis, have a good nap?"

Kirino got up and made her way over to the others to see the operator was tapping away at a computer they managed to set back up.

Ki: "What are you guys doing?"

"All cameras on the surface have been destroyed so I'm currently trying to send a drone up to the surface to get a visual on the damage."

Na: "And get a confirmation on the destruction of the Cosmic Devourer."

"I don't think we need to worry about that miss, the Tsar Bomba Maximum detonated that close would definitely have deatomized the target instantly."

Na: "This is an eldritch abomination we're talking about, we can't be too sure about anything."

Kirino watched the monitor, it showed a feed from the drone as it moved through the underground roadways then it stopped in front of a door leading to the surface.

"I already set off some explosives around the door to clear any debris so we should be good to go."

The door opened, letting in large amounts of dust and sunlight and everyone saw the clear blue sky above.

Ar: "Daaamn, the bomb even blew up the typhoon."

"And the O-zone layer above Tokyo, so along with having to wait for the radiation to dissipate and for the whole city to be repaired we'll have to stay in the Bunker for an added week for us to artificially restore it."

Na: "We'll just tell everyone that the typhoon was worse than we thought."

"Alright, heading up."

The drone headed upward, finally crossing the threshold, getting the first view of the surface in the aftermath.

Ar: "Jesus Christ, the whole place is a parking lot."

"That's the power of the TBM."

The drone panned around, seeing that the whole area was flattened but then…

"N-No way."

Na: "Dammit."

Naoki turned away to talk into her radio.

Na: "Visual confirmed."

Ki: "No."

Na: "Mission failed."

Ar: "Well shit…"

There on the screen, the drone viewed the Cosmic Devourer, still floating above the ocean, completely unscathed.

Ar: "The bomb didn't work."

Na: "The Cosmic Devourer is still alive."

Tokyo: Surface

Ky: "Of course it didn't work, THE BOMB NEVER WOOOORKS!"

"Hmmm, a finely matured godling, rich with energy, you will make a fine starter to my feast."

In the moment Kyousuke was still scared but not by his own choice, he realized it was whatever he was feeling in his chest that was compelling him to feel scared and it was then his frustration surpassed his fear, so much so…he didn't even feel scared anymore.

Ky: "So what are you going to do now? Eat me?"

"…Move forward."

The floating eyes began to move aside along the stairway that led up between the spires, not seeing any other choice…I moved forward, I kept walking until I was between the spires enveloped in their sh.

"Now…see-ee-ee-ee."

In that moment I saw everything, all the truths being kept from me in my life and the true name of the Devourer, Ytdrod Gusvgald (Itrod Gus-fgaald), an ancient monster of a billion mouths, all connected to a single disgusting body hidden in unknown space through portals held within the polygonal stone shapes that travel throughout the universe.

"See-ee-ee-ee."

It hacked into his mind and showed Kyousuke the fact that he was a godling, that the world feared him and rightfully so, the fact that his parents hated him and why they hated him, he learned about Theodore Matthews and how he was contracted to monitor Kyousuke and kill him should he ever become a threat and how Theodore was the only superhuman with the power kill Kyousuke, then the Wave Disruptor and all its capabilities, the device specifically designed to kill godlings.

Ky: "What are you doing to me?"

"I find that souls taste better when they figure out their lot in life, a way of seasoning it if you will, now I will share with you the final truth, of godlings, where they come from and their true purpose, this revelation should twist your soul enough to be…perfectly tender."

Holy crap…I'm finally going to see what all this bullshit is about.

"Stop!"

Just then another voice rang out and I turned to see a human sized figure floating in the distance.

Ky: Oh god, what now?!

"Devourer, I've come to challenge you."

"Hm?"

"I am, the most powerful superhuman on Earth, the ultimate psychic, capable of interacting with matter at an atomic level, I will-"

{SLAM!}

"Be still morsel, my attention is required elsewhere."

In the middle of the hero's monologue an unseen force violently sent him smashing into the ground below, Kyousuke didn't know if he was still alive but he certainly did not get back up, though that gave him some time to get his head together and made a run for it back down the stairs and jumped off the ledge but a bunch of invisible hands grabbed him all over his body and lifted him back up to face the devourer.

{CRACK! Crumble}

A small portion of the Devourers front face shattered and fell away to reveal a large inhuman eye beneath similar to the ones he saw before.

"Do you not wish to see?"

Ky: "Listen here, I don't care what truths you have to show me, I do not want to get eaten."

"That is hardly a decision for you to make."

It was then that Kyousuke tried to activate his powers, attempting to charge up Thermal Release as his hand began to glow brightly.

{JAB!}

But then he felt a severe pain shoot through his chest, felt as if one of the invisible arms was imbedded there and his heat quickly dissipated, he tried to use his power again but nothing happened, he couldn't heat up or freeze, his power was completely disabled.

"You may be powerful compared to the other humans but to me…you are nothing more than a newborn struggling in the hands of a meat farmer."

{Rip!}

Just then Kyousuke's left arm was ripped from him, he only felt the pain momentarily but saw as the bleeding appendage floated in the air next to him.

"Even your indestructible body fails against my will."

Ky: "…"

Kyousuke could only stare in shock as he continued to bleed.

"Mmm, I cannot wait any longer…my feast begins."

{Crackle! Crumble!}

The devourer's face began to crumble again but this time all the way down its center beneath the eye, then what looked like dozens of white bones began to push outward from the crack and gallons of cloudy viscous fluids spilled out before the bones separated, opening the rock outward in either direction, revealing a massive, pink, horrifying, drooling mouth filled with hundreds more massive jutting teeth.

Subterranean Offices

"Holy shit!"

Ki: "Oh my god."

Ar: "It's gonna eat him, Kirishima we have to do something."

Na: "We just dropped the most powerful explosive known to man on the damn thing and the most powerful superhuman on Earth just got flicked away like some insect, there's nothing we can do."

Kirino stood there, hand over her mouth in horror as she viewed the screen but she quickly recomposed herself before running out of the office and to the nearest route to the surface.

Ar: "Hey where are you going?!"

Arika began to follow.

Ki: "What are you doing? Stay there."

Ar: "Are- are you going to the surface?!"

Ki: "Yeah, and?"

Ar: "What the hell do you plan on doing?!"

Ki: "I don't know but there's no way I'm going to let Kyousuke die alone!"

Ar: "Kirino stop!"

Kirino continued on into the roadway, there Arika opted to activate her empowerment and summoned her power armor before flying over to block Kirino's path.

Ar: "Kirino sto-"

{Smash!}

As soon as Kirino got up to Arika she immediately sent her smashing into a wall with just a swipe of her hand.

Ar: "Agh, damn girl."

Arika quickly got back up and continued her chase, now with her suit moderately damaged. She caught up with Kirino just before she reached a surface door and grabbed her by the hand.

Ar: "Come on little sis, if you go out there you'll get eaten alive, do you think your brother would want that to happen to you?!"

Ki: "I don't care what he thinks! …That monster has him and I…I…"

Kirino was on the verge of tears but Arika just gave up and released her hand.

Ar: "Ugh, yeah I get it, you can't live without him…well we're boned anyway."

Kirino went up to the door, trying to pry it open but couldn't get a grip, then she tried punching it.

{Crack}

Ki: "AH! Shit! God dammit!"

She was unsuccessful.

Ar: "Did you forget? This is part of the bunker, if you could smash through that door, it wouldn't be very safe."

As Kirino was trying to open the door, Arika had made her way over to a console on the right wall where she dialed in a code on the keypad and the door started to open up.

{VWOOMMMM!}

They walked out into the sunlight which gave Kirino's skin a slight burning sensation due to the lack of an O-zone layer but she powered through the pain as she made a run for the Devourer.

Ki: "Kyousuke!"

Kyousuke could neither hear nor see the girls due to being thousands of feet in the air. The Devourer licked Kyousuke with long tentacle-like tongues, tasting him as it drew him closer to its mouth. Each lap of it tongues sapped a bit of energy from him, making him feel weak and before long the Devourer began to close its Jaws around him.

Ky: Whelp, looks like this is it…I'm dying a virgin…fuck.

Just then Ytdrod suddenly froze in place.

"Ngh, urgh."

Its mouth began to twitch back open as if something was forcing it and Kyousuke was pulled back out.

"W-What is happening?!"

Kyousuke thought that maybe the hero from earlier had gotten back up but he felt a familiar yet unknown presence and he looked up to see someone different floating high up in the sky.

"Hmm, a disgusting glutton attempting to prey on a fledgling civilization, I was wondering when you'd arrive."

"A godling, this powerful? How did I not see?"

"An ant such as you would be blind to a giant sitting next to them."

The person was too far away for Kyousuke to see clearly but his voice rung in his mind as if he were speaking in his ear.

"Now listen closely you obese swine, if you ever come anywhere near this planet again, I will hunt you down where you hide and rip every flab of fat off of that putrid body of yours."

"Ngh, ack."

"Now be gone."

The Devourers body then began to twist.

{Crack, Crack! CRACK!}

"Agh, Ah, AAAAAAAAAAAH!"

{RRRIP!}

It continued to twist until it was ripped in half sending torrents of blood, stone and viscera flying in every direction and a light concussive shockwave cracked outward as the portal connecting the mouth to the body was dismantled.

{SPLASH!}

The corpse finally fell into the shallow waters, turning the whole bay crimson, it's pointed lower half stabbed into the water and remained upright while the top half crashed down sideways as its giant eye rolled back in its socket.

"Now continue your futile progression, usurper."

Ky: Wait is he not going to catch me?

Kyousuke immediately felt his body go into freefall just before the man disappeared.

Ky: Guess not.

Ki: "Kyousuke!"

Kirino and Arika began to rush towards Kyousuke as he fell, Arika used her suit's boosters to fly over to him.

Ar: "I got you!"

But her five minutes ran out and the suit quickly disintegrated.

Ar: "Shit!"

{Crash!}

Kirino kept shooting forward at highway speeds, pushing herself to just past her maximum running speed, vigorously grunting and tearing up from muscle pain trying to go even faster, managing skid to a stop below him just in time.

Ki: "Kyousuke!"

Ky: "Oh hey Kirino, OOF!"

She broke his fall, catching him in a princess hold before setting him on the ground, keeping him upright with her hand on his back.

Ky: "Agh, dammit that hurt, ah and it's gone."

Ki: "Kyousuke are you okay?"

Ky: "Other than being severely traumatized, getting chest raped by a phantasmal tentacle and having my arm ripped off, I'm dandy."

Ki: "{Sniff}."

Kyousuke looked up to see Kirino crying like her puppy just got ran over and she pulled him into a tight embrace a she cried onto his shoulder.

Ky: "…"

Ki: "Don't ever do that again…you idiot."

Ky: "Whoa…you're crying pretty hard."

Ki: "Of course I am, you almost died! Idiot, idiot, idiot!"

Ky: "Jeez, if I didn't know any better I'd think you were in love with me."

Kirino didn't hear Kyousuke's last statement as he unconsciously rubbed her back with his left hand, just then realizing that it had been restored but without the sleeve, it surprised him for a few seconds but then he remembered what the Devourer had shown him. He looked around for a few seconds and noticed his original arm lying about a hundred feet away, still in its sleeve and blood still dripping from its torn end.

Ky: "Ugh."

He also remembered the Devourer revealing his hemophobia and how it involuntarily activated his Godling instincts, so he looked away as soon as a cringe shot through him.

Ky: I have a lot of plans to make.

He placed his hand back on Kirino's back and hugged her close as she continued to sob.

Ky: "Haah, since when did you start loving your big brother so much?"

{Squeeze!}

Ky: "Agh!"

Ki: "Shut up jerk, you're ruining the moment! {Sniff} Just stay quiet."

Ky: "Hm, yeah, yeah."

{Squeeze!}

Ky: "Ack!"

Ki: "What did I just say!?"

Ky: "Oh by the way, Mr. Johannes is an alien."

Ki: "Eh?!"

Later That Day

Nicola was able to detect the destruction of the Devourer and returned to Earth within a few hours, totally shocked to see it ripped asunder. Theodore's team recovered Kyousuke and the girls, Kirino didn't leave Kyousuke's side for a single second even when Nicola performed an examination on him, after that Naoki gave them a debriefing.

Na: "So you really couldn't see his face?"

Ky: "No, but Ytdrod-"

Ni: "The Devourer?"

Ky: "Yeah, he referred to the stranger as a godling and a very powerful one at that?"

Ni: "A godling powerful enough to kill a Cosmic Devourer with such little effort? Not that it's impossible but I've never encountered one like that, so I wouldn't know how one would get to that level."

Na: "Still we have to share this information with every top government official as soon as possible, a being more powerful than our strongest superhuman, than even a Cosmic level threat, is a serious security risk."

Ni: "Anything else you wish to share with us?"

Kyousuke told them about how Ytdrod Gusvgald revealed everything that was being kept from him, said it was a way of "seasoning" his soul, Kirino herself also looked shocked at what he had now come to understand. Though they were even more surprised that Kyousuke didn't feel any anger or pain from the information.

Ky: "It's not like I don't feel upset, I mean as long as I have this core, I'm a ticking time bomb and my parents basically think that I'm some demon that ate their son's soul, took over his body and is pretending to be him, on top of all that, they were forced by the government to continue treating me like their son, honestly if I were in their position I would've acted the same."

Ki: "…But are you?"

Ky: "Huh?"

Ki: "Are you…really Kyousuke? Or are you the thing that ate him?"

Ni: "Yes, did Ytdrod show you if you are still human or not?"

Ky: "Haah, unfortunately it didn't have enough time to show me before it got interrupted."

Ar: "Does it really matter?"

Just then Arika came in with a few bandages on her face.

Ar: "Even if you were able to barf up the real Kyousuke's soul right now he'd still be that same little kid as when the godling core first activated. The Kyousuke you are now is the Kyousuke all your friends and fam- uh, Kirino know and love, just because you might be some alien consciousness shouldn't change that."

Ki: "…"

Ky: "Nice philosophical tangent Arika but there is a huge risk in me being an alien, what if my creators are able to take control of me or what if there's something about me that makes me more prone to aggressive or even psychopathic behavior as I mature?"

Ni: "He does have a point there."

Ar: "Oh didn't think of that, guess we should call Theodore and have him take care of you right now just in case, Naoki go ahead and dial him up~"

Na: "Don't tell me what to do."

Ky: "Sorry Arika, I really do appreciate the kind words but we can't forget the reality here."

Na: "Anyway I have one last thing to discuss Kyousuke before I let you go."

Ky: "Hm?"

Na: "The ability you displayed, you used Item Summon, like Arika."

Ar: "Oh yeah, guess that makes us twinsies now~"

Ky: "Ugh."

Na: "Do you think you can use it now? If you can, try summoning the largest item you can."

Ky: "Okay let's see."

Kyousuke set out his hand, closed his eyes and tried to concentrate on it, a faint glowing blob appeared in his hand that quickly formed into…

{Poof}

Ky: "Huh?"

A pen.

Ky: "Um, let me try again."

He set the pen on the desk and tried to summon something else but as soon as he tried, the pen disintegrated.

Ky: "Eh?!"

The blob in his hand then turned into a rock.

Ni: "Let me ask, do you know what a Multifacet is?"

Ky: "Yeah, a superhuman capable of using more than one power though no superhuman in existence is capable of having more than three, something about mental overload."

Ki: "Wow, you actually did some research?"

Ky: "I thought the topic was interesting."

Ni: "You're pretty close, now think of your brain as a gaming computer and your power as a high demand video game that's perpetually running, now imagine trying to play two games at once on a casual grade rig?"

Ki: "It would end up running crazy slow or just catch fire."

Ni: "That's right, you'd need something higher level, a pro rig to be able to run two games at once and an elite rig to run three, though there are some that are able to temporarily shut down one power to run a different one."

Ky: "And by higher level do you mean higher IQ?"

Ni: "Bingo."

Ky: "Makes sense, so I guess that means that since I'm a casual level rig, I can only use one power at full capacity at a time."

Ni: "And the only reason you were able to use both effectively before was because your core was more active instead of its current passive state, it acts as a sort of secondary brain."

Ky: "So, what? Once my core reaches max level I become the Hero Avatar, wielder of all powers?"

Ni: "Don't know, maybe you are, maybe you're capable of much more than that, your level of connection and control with a godling core is completely unobserved in my line of study, so what happens from here on is a total mystery."

Ki: "I don't like the sound of that."

Na: "Well that's enough for now, you two head on back down, you need to take some time to get your heads together after that whole ordeal."

Ki: "How long will it take to cover everything up? Weeks? Months?"

Na: "While we are basically having to reconstruct all of Tokyo Prefecture from scratch and parts of surrounding prefectures, along with having to haul all forty thousand feet of the Cosmic Devourer out of Tokyo bay, wipe the internet and people's minds clean of any information based on this event, scrub the area of any radioactive fallout and repair the hole we punched into the O-zone layer, everyone should be back on the surface in two weeks."

Ki: "Really?!"

Ky: "You'll get all that done in just two weeks?!"

Ni: "Well we are having all the best specialists from around the world to help with the cover up, even the teams that built all the Bunkers will be joining in, can't afford to have people getting suspicious from staying down there too long."

Na: "You two hurry and get going, the memories I implanted into your parents have already been set and we don't need them wondering where you are."

Ky: "Yes ma'am."

Na: "Oh and Kyousuke?"

Ky: "Hm?"

Na: "About your vacation request, I got the KDL to approve it, fully paid, until the Falling Stars this February."

Ky: "Whoa, awesome, thank you very much ma'am."

With that the siblings left.

Ar: "Huh, pretty out of character for you Naoki."

Na: "I thought he deserved that given how cooperative he's been."

Ar: "Hm, big change from wanting him dead a few months ago."

Na: "…Don't misunderstand, I still wish to see the threat he poses gone from this world and from the way he looked at me I'm sure he understands that too now but that other godling is an even greater threat and requires more of our focus, also…at the very least I want to believe there's a chance that he may be able become a valuable ally to humanity and treating him with too much animosity wouldn't help in that end."

Tokyo Bunker

After Kyousuke changed out of his tattered suit the siblings continued down to the Bunker.

Ky: "So how you feeling?"

Ki: "I should be asking you that, idiot."

Ky: "Yeah I may need a few feel-good hugs a day for the next rest of my life but I'm none worse for wear."

Ki: "Jeez, you really are the right person for this job if even this didn't get to you."

Ky: "It's not that it didn't get to me, trust me this experience has been burned into my memory and will haunt me til the day I die, I just won't let it change the way I live or effect the people I care about and yes that includes you."

Ki: "{blush}So, after we get back home is there anything you want to do?"

Ky: "Eat, Sleep and relax, I want this day out of my head as soon as possible."

Ki: "I hear ya."

The siblings met with their parents with little suspicion, they ate dinner, watched TV and went to bed. For the next two weeks things were mostly boring while Tokyo was being rebuilt. Kirino acted as Kyousuke's emotional support until his panic attacks died down, she even let him sleepwalk into her bed, much to her enjoyment, though that stopped before the last few days.

Ky: "Finally! Natural sunlight!"

Ki: "Holy crap."

The siblings along with Mochi finally set foot on the surface, it looked practically untouched aside from a few buildings and trees strategically left moderately damaged. Kirino even climbed onto the roof, Mochi following excitedly behind, to get a view of the city in the distance and saw that it too was the same as before.

Ki: "This is crazy, they really got all this done in only two weeks?"

Ky: "Yo monkey girl?!"

Kirino looked down from her spot on the roof to Kyousuke.

Ky: "Just got a text from my friends, so I'm heading out!"

Ki: "Uh, yeah sure, see you when you get home."

Ky: "Alright later."

The past two weeks with her brother had been rather intimate given how much time she had spent with him helping to get his mind back together after his encounter with an alien demigod. So seeing him leave was a little upsetting, she was already starting to feel lonely.

Ki: "Haah, guess I'll call the girls and see if they want to do anything."

Elsewhere

"Hey, I've got something you guys will want to see."

"What is it?"

As some researchers were looking over the eviscerated maw of Ytdrod Gusvgald within the security of a secret government facility, another came in carrying his laptop.

"It's some footage from a drone that was monitoring Tsar Bomba Maximum impact."

The researcher had set down his laptop in the table before clicking the play button. The video was a frame by frame playback of the initial impact and while the bomb had indeed made contact with Ytdrod's exterior, the very millisecond it did, Ytdrod completely disappeared, the video was then overtaken by the light of the explosion before it cut out.

"That's strange."

"Very, this particular model of drone is supposed to be beyond top of the line and I was able to confirm that this wasn't a glitch or error of some kind."

"What do you think happened?"

"I think I might have a clue."

One of the researchers then moved in front of the laptop and rewound the video to the point Ytdrod disappeared.

"Look there."

He then pointed to a small point on the screen that looked warped, like the light pixels were stretching to converge on a single point.

"You said that you were able to confirm that there were no glitches or errors in this video?"

"Yeah."

"Then I guess we can assume this little artifact is a genuine anomaly."

"Perhaps the Devourer used its rift to retreat back to its hiding place before returning once the explosion dissipated."

"But to do so, so fast? It had to be moving at practically the speed of light."

"Well this is a Lovecraftian space god we're dealing with, wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility."

"Though if what you say is true I think we can confirm that the bomb would have been effective or even fatal had the devourer not retreated like it did."

"I say we focus on the examination of its stone carapace, perhaps the secrets of its rift abilities lie there."

"Speaking of which, what are your current findings from the, um, DNA scan?"

"Well it looks like the Devourer's main organic structure is actually carbon based and we were even able to figure out that it's actually a type of mammal or well a very mammal-like alien, so we shouldn't worry about its blood polluting the ocean. Heck if anything, given how nutrient rich its blood is, we may actually see a boom in oceanic life around Japan's western coast."

"Though that could also potentially mean a boom in ocean monsters."

"And with the next Falling Stars event just around the corner, with so many animals congregating and most likely breeding in those shallow waters, that boom may be larger than we think, we may even see mutations of animal from the deep ocean where the radiation would normally be unable to reach."

"Damn, it's almost like a perfect storm of chaos, come February Tokyo is going to be the new center for the Extermination Hunters."

The Following Day: Tokyo Hero Academy

Kyousuke and Renji were once again having lunch together in the Kousaka dorm though Renji was more focused on his laptop than his food.

Ky: "Man can't believe the school year is already almost over."

Re: "What are you talking about?"

Ky: "Uh, it's almost Spring, you know graduation season."

Re: "Maybe for normal Japanese schools but hero schools follow the global standard, for us the school year ends at summer break and starts back up at the end of break."

Ky: "Seriously?"

Re: "Haah, figures a transfer wouldn't know that…huh?"

Ky: "Something up?"

Re: "Just got a message from a friend, btw he doesn't know I'm plotting against Akihiko…what the…no way."

Ky: "What?"

Re: "Sergeant Sunrise just challenged Akihiko to a duel."

Ky: "…Excuse me I have to make a call."

Kyousuke quickly got up from his chair and headed to the bathroom to dial up Shuichi.

SS: "Hello Kyousuke."

Ky: "Uh, hey there Mr. Sosuke, just wanted to confirm, did you challenge Akihiko Toyama, the Kanto hero student champion, to a duel?"

SS: "Why yes I did."

Ky: "Why?"

SS: "…I wanted to get a read on him."

Ky: "What?"

SS: "The best way for me to get to know someone without talking to them directly is by getting a taste of how they fight, I want to see for myself how shady Akihiko is."

Ky: "Alright, just want to make sure you're taking this seriously."

SS: "Of course I am, you shouldn't take your perception of adults from pop culture, I'm not the type to disregard a person's claims just because they're a teenager, I like to follow the American philosophy of giving everyone the benefit of the doubt."

Ky: "Cool, thanks."

SS: "Also given your plans to challenge Akihiko, perhaps you can take this opportunity to study his fighting style and his capabilities."

Ky: "Will do, so guess I'll be seeing you from up in the seats."

SS: "Great, I'd like that, see you then."

Ky: "Yeah."

They hung up and Kyousuke rejoined Renji at the table, where they continued to talk about their plans for Akihiko.

Later That Day

Ki: "Here's some open seats."

Ar: "Finally."

Ky: "Man, it feels weird being a spectator again, I think the last time was when I watched your match against Daiki."

The siblings and Arika filed into some seats up in the nosebleed section though despite that, they still had a good view of the field.

Ki: "Here they come."

Shuichi came out in his full hero suit and an HP shield head band and Akihiko came out in a fancy looking, fully but lightly armored, black HP suit.

Ki: "Wow, he sure looks intimidating."

Ky: "If you're saying that, then I'm starting to have second thoughts about challenging him."

Ak: "So Sergeant, you ready to do this?"

SS: "Absolutely, I'll give you the first move."

Ak: "Just remember, I'm still a student so try to hold back enough so you don't accidentally kill me."

SS: "Haha wouldn't dream of it, now let's get started."

"And…Begin!"

Akihiko was quick, generating a massive torrent of fire around himself before blasting it at Shuichi. How Fire Elementals work is that they are able to use their selective form of telekinesis isolate volatile gases from the surrounding atmosphere then accelerate their particles until they ignite, so they can create as much fire as they want, at least in an open space, doesn't mean they're able to control it all though.

SS: "Hm good first move, it would indeed be foolish to go all out in your first attack."

Just as Shuichi was bringing his focus back on Akihiko, a hand came into view right in front of his face.

SS: "Uh-"

{BAM!}

Akihiko immediately hit Shuichi with a powerful concentrated jet of fire, equivalent to the force of a fighter jet engine. It kicked up a bunch of dust and sent Akihiko skidding backwards a few dozen feet, Shuichi then dashed out of the dust cloud straight toward Akihiko, who was able to bring his arms up just in time to block Shuichi's high powered punch that sent him slamming backwards into the wall.

Ar: "Oh hey Kyousuke? {munch, munch}"

Ky: "Huh?"

Ar: "Remember when you were talking to Nick about Multifacets?"

Ky: "Yeah?"

Ar: "You know Sarge is one too {munch}."

Ki: "Seriously!"

Ar: "Oh yeah, he's able to use two different powers, the first is obviously super strength and I'm pretty sure he's about to use his second."

Ky: "Whoa."

Ar: "{Munch, munch, munch}"

Ky: "…Where'd you get that popcorn?"

Shuichi charged at Akihiko for another strike but just before he did, Akihiko aimed his hands to his left and blasted jet-like flames from them, sending him speeding off to the side and out of the way of Shuichi's strike. Before Shuichi had a chance to realize what happened, Akihiko turned back around and used his jet flames to fly back to Shuichi, once closed enough he aimed both his palms at Shuichi's abdomen and rapidly charged a concentrated ball of fire which he then released, creating a large explosion that actually knocked them both back though Shuichi was able to stay on his feet.

Ak: "Hm, fully charged."

Shuichi dashes forward again but Akihiko again uses his flame jets but this time to fly up into the Air and as Shuichi turns around to once again face, Akihiko's body becomes enveloped in a white light.

Ak: "Super…Nov-"

{FWOOSH!}

Just as Akihiko was about to unleash his ultimate attack Shuichi lifted his hand and the light covering Akihiko's body dissipated.

SS: "You really need to work on your execution speed."

Akihiko was too shocked to react but with another wave of his hands Shuichi manipulated a powerful air current to send Akihiko flying towards him as lunged forward into one final powerful strike right in Akihiko's face, hitting with enough force to knock him out and wipe all his HP.

"{Whistle!} Winner Sergeant Sunrise!"

A few seconds later Akihiko came to.

Ak: "Augh."

SS: "You fought well son."

Shuichi offered his hand to help Akihiko up from the ground and he politely took it.

Ak: "Thanks, it was an honor fighting you sir."

After a bit of fanfare and interviews Sergeant Sunrise left and the students went back to their dorms.

SS: |Hey Kyousuke!|

Ky: "Hey Mr. Sosuke, so now that you've fought Akihiko, what can you tell me about him?"

SS: |…I have to admit he does seem like the shady type and I can tell he's hiding something, so your suspicions may have some validity.|

Ky: "So are you more willing to cooperate with us."

SS: |I still need a little more to convince me but for now you have my aid, just ask and I'll do what I can within reason to help you and even do some more investigations of my own.|

Ky: "Thanks, I'll be sure to keep you updated on the goings on here at THA."

SS: |One more thing though.|

Ky: "What?"

SS: |As I was fighting him, I think he was holding back, like he knew that we were studying him, I believe he may be suspicious of your plans.|

Ky: "Really? Well he's been pretty hands-off with me since I transferred, probably to get my guard down before he makes his next move, possibly during or after the year change."

SS: |I suggest you watch yourself, too many undercover missions like this fail from underestimating the enemy's intelligence.|

Ky: "Will do, later."

SS: |Stay safe.|

They hung up and barely a second later Kyousuke's phone rang again and he saw it was Hitaro calling.

Ky: "Hey what's up."

Hi: |Hey bud, how's Mochi doing?|

Ky: "Good, more than good, Kirino treats the little guy like it's her own kid, brushing and cleaning him every day, taking him out for walks, she even uses of her own money to take him to vet check-ups."

Hi: |Wow, that's good to hear, so my bad news might actually turn out to be good news.|

Ky: "Really?"

Hi: |Yeah, I've checked all over Tokyo, Chiba and the other surrounding prefectures and no one has claimed ownership of Mochi so I have to assume he's a stray, which is rare here in Japan, Puffball Spiders aren't expensive but arachnophobia is so common here that there's hardly a market for them so most are imported from breeders overseas.|

Ky: "I see, so where do you think he could've come from?"

Hi: |No idea, maybe he came in the contraband container we found him in, possibly a pet of one of the smugglers. Well whatever the case, you're more than welcome to keep Mochi for yourself, after all it sounds like he's formed a pretty close bond with your sister.|

Ky: "Awesome, she'll be happy to hear about that."

Hi: |Also, I heard about your vacation, hehe, you lucky bastard.|

Ky: "Hey if you're going to miss me that bad the four of us can still go out together, just say when."

Hi: |Heh, sure thing, but really after what you went through to save the world, you really do deserve this vacation, even if you didn't exactly defeat the cosmic devourer.|

Ky: "I still managed to nail it with a giga-nuke."

After a little more small talk they both hung up and Kyousuke went out to the living room where he saw Kirino watching TV with Mochi sitting calmly in her lap, gently brushing his fluffy fur. He thought about telling her the news right then and there but decided to make it a surprise, they had a collar on him with a plain temporary nameless tag so Kyousuke thought to go out and get a new named tag with a cuter design.

Ky: "Hey I'm heading out for a little bit, you want anything?"

Ki: "Ooh, could you get me that new chip flavor, I hear it tastes nasty but awesome at the same time."

Ky: "Sure Ms. Adventurous, just don't expect me to get you new chips if you end up not liking them."

Ki: "Yeah, yeah."

Kyousuke walked out and headed to the nearest pet shop where he chose a blue tag designed to look like a wad of mochi and got Mochi's name and their info lasered onto it, he also got some spider treats and a new toy for him.

Ki: "Perfect."

Kyousuke walked back to the campus and went into the store to get the snacks but as he was perusing the aisles, he heard a group of guys walking in and heard a familiar voice.

Ry: "It's noodle time, hope they still have my favorite flavor."

"I'm heading to the sundae bar, hm? Hey Ryuu, look who it is."

Ry: "Is that Kousaka I see over there?"

Ky: "Shit."

They walked over and surrounded him.

Ry: "So Kousuka, how've you been since I kicked your ass?"

Ky: "…"

Ry: "Hey, I'm talking to you."

"Hey, what's this?"

One of his friends, either an Earth Elemental or Magnetokinetic, used his powers to lift Mochi's new tag out of Kyousuke's bag.

Ky: "H-Hey!"

"Hm, Mochi? What kind of name is that?"

Ry: "If I remember, after I beat you, you sneakily made some edits to our contract to make it so you could keep a pet spider in your dorm, while that normally isn't allowed, if it's a contract with one of the top ten, then it will always go through. Though I still find it kind of annoying that you pulled one over on me like that, sort of gives my victory a bitter aftertaste…hey Hayama how would you feel about taking on Kousaka here?"

Ky: "What?"

Hay: "Heh, if you could beat him, should be no problem for me, been wanting some practice."

Ky: "I don't have time for this, I suggest you find your kicks elsewhere."

Kyousuke reached for the tag floating in mid-air but just as he was about to grab it, it was crushed into a small bead and dropped to the floor.

{Clingalingaling!}

Hay: "Whoops, my bad~"

Ky: "…You want a match, fine, if it get's you asshats off my back and if I win, you head back to the pet shop for me and get an exact replacement for the tag you just crushed."

Hay: "Sure and if I win, you give me that spider of yours, I hear they're pretty tasty roasted on a grill."

Ky: "Deal."

For a second Hayama thought he saw Kyousuke's eyes flash with light for a second but didn't pay it any mind as they all went their separate ways.
