Day 21

Three weeks into this new life and I sit here as a blooded warrior, a novice scribe, and have made new friends! To start with I hadn't actually realized I was do a day off so when Gurnag told me to get lost for the day I decided to head for Ratchet and check out the auction house. I had plenty of coin after the bounties I'd picked up so I didn't mind a little look.

The view of Ratchet from the road stretched on and on and made me eager to see more of it. Of course my luck just had to have me nearly knock over this tiny woman while on the road and I had to apologize. This was my first chance to properly use Common with a human but it started awkwardly.

The human woman scowled at me. "Would you please watch where you run? Not all of us are tanky oafs."

I was sheepishly rubbing my head. "Sorry about that. Are you ok?"

She blinked before nodding. "Yes, I'm fine."

"Good." I replied before pausing for a moment. "I'm Borgin by the way."

"Menara. I know that look, what do you want?"

"Could you show me to the auction house?"

And that is how I got free tips on auction house trading. And met yet another warlock. I could do without the demons but Menara apparently specialized in capturing them. I could vaguely understand demonic and arcane sigils imprisoning a demon but the more technical details were difficult to follow. At least the listings she showed me made sense.

The sights and sounds of Ratchet on the way to the auction house brought to mind an insane version of Vegas. Casinos, banks, shops, warehouses, and homes were everywhere I turned. I need to come back and explore it more when I get a chance. The scale was just so much more than represented that when I stepped into the large auction house and saw members of damn near every race listening to auctioneers or browsing book listings I almost expected it.

Total honesty here, I didn't get very far in my browsing. I splurged almost everything I had on a worg pup. The adorable black furred beast tried to bite a finger off when I let her out of the carrier. Thankfully she was too small and slow to really do anything to me so I just scooped her up and let her relax in my arms. Her fur reminded me of the darkness of night so I named her Nyx.

Menara seemed to find the sight amusing for some reason but Nyx and I definitely bonded when I bought a Horde Pennant and tied it to Nyx's collar. I spent quite a bit of my afternoon playing with the pup once Menara departed. Nyx has plenty of energy and a desire to pee on everything. We made a rapid retreat before an ogre guard could notice she had peed on him.

The sheer number of goblins in Ratchet made me develop a twitch when they talk. I can't help it alright, those loud annoying voices and insane ideas drive me nuts. I'm just glad I wasn't the only one suffering because I saw more than one person, Horde and Alliance, cringe at an unexpected noise. Then again they could all have hangovers and I could be the odd man out but at least none of us were as weird as the blood elf running around in his shorts.

Nyx drew plenty of admiration as I presented her to the others. She displayed just the right deference when meeting Gurnag as the orc stared down at her. Now that she's fed she lays quietly at my feet while I write. She has a good idea.
