Sitting quietly with someone who could relate to every aspect of your life was a unique feeling. Sasori had never really believed in the idea of soulmates, but there was something special about Deidara, even with his anger and mood swings. It was as though their bones had been shaped from the same stone and split between the two of them.
"Sorry again." The blonde whispered hoarsely, after they had been sitting quietly for a time. He seemed like the sort of person who was never silent for very long. A body that craved constant movement and excitement. It contrasted sharply with Sasori's own preference of remaining still and soundless as much as possible. "When your dad called…It was already a bad time. And everything just…"
There was a gasping sob beside him and Sasori swiveled sideways quickly only to catch a glimpse of Deidara folding in on himself, shoulder blades trembling. He had never been good at comfort, more often slapped away whenever he tried to help, but he still reached out and laid a hand on those bones that felt like a match for his own. Deep blue eyes shot up as soon as there was contact, shock and hesitant relief evident in their depths.
"I…I didn't know that would happen…" It felt inadequate. It seemed like an excuse, but it was the truth. He had no way of knowing that their fathers knew each other or that everything would escalate so rapidly to this point.
"My mother is leaving. She doesn't want me. She never wanted me." Deidara stuttered out, his voice growing more and more erratic as he continued. "My dad blames me and he's right. I should've never been born. Everything would be better if I didn't exist."
"I killed my mom. And my sister left with my brother. She hates me." How odd, to have miraculously found a mirror of his soul so randomly. What were the chances? "If you shouldn't exist than neither should I, but…."
Sasori loved beautiful things. They were so rare and precious in his world. Beauty should be preserved. Flowers pressed between pages of books, paintings kept from light and oxygen, silk wrapped in paper and handled gently. Deidara was the same, a work of art that needed to be carefully protected and kept from fading or decaying. What would those infinite eyes look blank and empty? How could he let the electric energy in those narrow hands disappear?
"I think we are meant for more than just fading away." He thought of his father's hateful eyes and mean fists. He could hardly let the bitter, ugly man win. "What if we make them fade away instead?"
Deidara's tears had dried by now, his attention completely caught by Sasori's passion and hatred.
"We're just kids, we can't do shit all." He pointed out. He clenched his fists, not wincing when the action reopened the cuts there.
"So we bide our time. We won't be kids forever. We'll leave for now and come back later." Sasori could see it all now, a few years of them settling, putting themselves together into a shape that could accurately destroy the very thing that attempted to destroy them. His mouth watered. "I know where my dad keeps his emergency funds. We could leave. Deidara, let's run!"
"Run…" Deidara repeated quietly before a smile slowly stole over his face. "Run! Ha! We'll race the sunset! Come back a bomb and burn this whole town to the ground!"
Sasori grinned and stood, holding his hand out to his mirror, his broken soulmate. Deidara reached back and grasped that hand so hard both their joints creaked.
"Together. Let's go. We won't let anyone bury us."
"Not till we can go out gloriously."
The sunset was waiting for them to chase it, but for Sasori, the only blaze he could see was light of vengeance burning in Deidara's eyes. The light in those eyes was a beauty he would fight to preserve.
(A/N: Ha, Hello. I just wanted to say, to anyone who decides to read this, I do hope you enjoy. I've been thinking about this old story recently as I write fics for new fandoms and just wanted to finally give it an end. You can decide for yourself if these two do decide to come back and destroy the people who tried to destroy them. Anyway, thank you to everyone who enjoyed this story~ You are the reason I continue to write to this day! Thank you thank you! I hope you all find this as satisfying to read as it was satisfying for me to write.)
