-They can come home now.
It has been more than a year since Reign was defeated, finally all is calm for Kara Danvers. Her mom, Alura, is alive and well back at Argo City, J'onn is happy with M'gann, Lena is up and about running CatCo with James, and her sister Alex is living her best life as the new director of the DEO.
But Mon-el was still gone. She made her peace with it, she's happy that he gets to lead the Legion, the he was inspired by her. Kara is happy that the love of her life is with a good woman, Imra.
She's happy for him, happy for everyone else around her, but not for her. "I guess you really can't have it all, but life keeps moving" she told herself.
Once again crime was down in National City, there is no big fish to fry. So right now she is home with her family in Midvale.
She sat on the couch as she watched Eliza play with the twins.
Yes, Alex has kids. She had adopted two-year old twins, a boy and a girl. Baby Jeremy and Baby Elle, named after her parents. It was hard at first for Alex to be a single mother of twins, but with everything that Alex Danvers does, she does gracefully and she gets through it. Besides Auntie Kara, Grandma Eliza, Uncle Winn, and even Grandpa J'onn helps all the time.
As Kara watched her nephew and niece, she again thought about the time she and Mon-el were together. Mon-el liked talking about their future together, she on the other hand stays in the present. She remembered the time when Mon-el was blabbing about having off-springs together. Mon-el wondered a lot about how a child of a Daxamite and a Kryptonian would look like, that time Kara never really thought much of it, but seeing the twins more and more reminds her of that moment.
"How would a a Daxamite and Kryptonian child would look like?" She wondered. Would she even ever have a child?
As her mind started to explore, she felt her heart beat louder and louder. It was as if her heart was longing for something...for someone? Could it be Mon-el again?! No…this doesn't happen when she thinks about Mon-el!
Kara's heart pouded more and more, she held unto her chest so tight that she wanted to rip it out just to make her heart stop.
Eliza noticed that her daughter was having a problem. "Alex!" she called. Eliza then put the twins to the couch and instructed them to behave.
Eliza went near Kara and just held her shoulders. "Kara! Kara, what is happening to you?!" Eliza shouted.
Alex came running from the kitchen to see them. She saw that her twins were okay so she rushed to where her mom and Kara is.
"Mom! Kara is having a panic attack!" She screamed as she made her way to her sister.
"Kara! Kara it's me!" Alex told Kara as she was trying to calm her down.
Kara is now breathing heavily and her heart is pounding more and more, she's shaking more and more.
"Kara breathe!" Alex shouted more to Kara. Alex is a woman of science, but at that moment, she does not know what to do for her baby sister. She was also being consumed by panic and so is Eliza.
"Kara look at me!" Alex pleaded to her sister. Kara then looked at her sister, she is now also consumed by fear and still holding onto her chest.
Alex saw fear in Kara's eyes, it was a heartbreaking sight for Alex to see. Her baby sister is scared and sad... "Kara, it's gonna be okay!" Alex said. "I'm here, mom is here, the twins are here, you're okay!" Alex told Kara.
With that said Alex hugged Kara with all the force she have, Eliza then hugged her girls as well. Kara's shaking calmed down, her heart calmed down as she felt her sister and mother's embrace. As the twins saw a group hug they came close too and joined in. It was a wholesome moment for the Danvers family.
Later that night Alex tucked in her twins and Kara to bed. To sum it up, Alex Danvers really has three children. Jeremy, Elle, and Kara.
Alex had talked to Kara once she had calmed down. Kara told her that it started as soon as she thought about Mon-el and having kids of her own. It was as if Alex heart was cut into a million pieces.
She knew why her sister had a panic attack, she knew why her sister was hurting!
More than a year ago when they defeated Reign. Mon-el stayed with Kara and they lived happily ever after. Within weeks the couple announced that they were expecting. Alex remembered everything, her sister was on cloud nine having Mon-el back and expecting a child. It happened so fast, yet so perfect. At that same time she decided to adopt the twins.
But as Kara's pregnancy grew long, the more it became a danger to her and to the child. Due to the lead still on the earth's atmosphere no Daxamite would survive. Kara and Mon-el's child is a half Daxamite, so the air was poison to the child and since Kara is carrying the child, it became poison for her too.
Kara became more weak as the pregnancy progressed, but her Kryptonian biology kept her strong, and as long as the baby was inside of her, it will be safe. Kara knew the danger that her child would be in once she gives birth, so she decided to make the ultimate sacrifice again.
Kara asked Mon-el that the moment she gives birth to their child, he will have to bring it to the future where it will be safe for them, where no lead is in the atmosphere.
Mon-el disagreed to Kara, saying that he will not leave her again, but Kara persisted that it was a small price to pay to keep their child safe and alive.
Kara was set on the decision she made for their family, so Mon-el had to make his. Mon-el asked J'onn that once Kara gives birth, she would be weak enough that J'onn can mind wipe her. J'onn, Alex, and Winn disagreed to it, but Mon-el explained his reason.
Mon-el knew what happened to Kara before when she saved him from the lead bomb. Kara was broken, Kara didn't want to be Kara. So he wants Kara to be mind wiped so that she will never have to go through that again. This time if she remembers everything, it will be double the pain, since she will be loosing both Mon-el and their child.
Alex disagreed at first, but she knew that what Mon-el said was true. Her sister would be in a world of pain if she knows, she would barely function as Kara Danvers and as Supergirl.
Before Kara gave birth, she knew that she would not be able to be with her child. She and Mon-el had a deal. When she gave birth, she had a brief chance to see her child, her daughter. Her last words before she lost consciousness was "Hope..."
Right when their daughter was born, with a heavy heart Mon-el immediately went to the future to keep their child safe. Mon-el knew that he and Kara were doing the right thing, but he's loosing her again, when it feels like he just got her back.
But he promised himself that once everything is okay, he and their daughter would immediately come back for her.
When Kara woke up then, she was told that she just passed out from using her powers too much. All she remembers is that she defeated Reign and Mon-el came back to the future to lead the Legion with Imra. She remembers Alex adopting the twins, but she doesn't recall being with Mon-el and being pregnant. Her mind was altered, she was mind wiped as Mon-el had requested...
It's been five months since it happened. For five months Alex and the DEO is finding a way to create a vaccine to make Kara and Mon-el's child be able to live in this timeline, without Kara knowing.
Alex sat on their porch swing sipping her tea. It had been stressful day for her. All she knows now and prays about is that the formula for the lead vaccine will be ready, so her niece and Mon-el could be back.
She was worried about her sister's panic attack earlier today. She was worried that maybe Kara is now starting to remember the truth.
Alex knew that once Kara finds out the truth, Kara will despise her and everyone that lied to her, but her biggest concern is that how she will be hurt to find out that she actually has a family out there, and she doesn't know.
Alex drank her tea as she thought about how Mon-el and her niece is. "I hope they can come back soon..." she thought to herself.
Suddenly Alex's phone began to ring. Someone was calling. Alex went to pick it up, and it was Winn.
"Hey Winn, What's up? Is something wrong? Do you need me and Supergirl there?" Alex says.
"No Alex! You have got to Chill!" Winn replied.
"Then what is it?" Alex exclaimed. "Why are you calling at this ungodly hour?!" She added.
"Alex we did it." Winn says. "They can come home now!" He exclaims.
Alex was lost for words, she covers her mouth in shock. Tears run through her cheeks as she says "They can come home now…"
