Chapter 23:
Akihiko was left numb after the enemy had retreated, exhausted and shocked by today's events. It was like a domino effect; the attack of the Fire Giants, the reveal of the magicians, the Jashinist's attack on the youkai, Valerie's betrayal, the reveal of Ophis and the Khaos Brigade (revealed later on by Azazel), and the battle he had with her... all of it just rolled into one big mess for everyone.
The leaders of their respective factions conversed with different people, tending to their wounded. Some wept, others embraced each other. The younger Devils all seemed worn out and weary, unused to the violence and tension displayed on this scale.
Akihiko just sat on the ground somewhere, a good distance away from the others. With the focus being on everyone's respective allies, Akihiko just sat back, slowly processing everything. After a while, a hand was placed on his shoulder, snapping him out of his shock slightly.
He turned to see that it was his father, a sad look on his face as he stared at the broken look on his son's face. He didn't say anything, only stepping forward and hugging Akihiko tightly. "I'm sorry, son," he whispered.
The half-Devil blinked, slowly trying to process the hug. "... Why?" was all he said. His father pushed his face into his shoulder, comforting him as he slowly hugged him back. "Why did she do this?"
"... I don't know," his father answered, a pained look on his face at hearing the broken tone in his son's tone. Not just from the reveal, but after fighting Valerie.
Akihiko gripped his father's shirt as he grit his teeth, hard enough to chip them. His eyes burned, but he wouldn't cry. No, he wouldn't be weak. He couldn't.
Even still, Valerie's actions had left a hole in his heart. One which had left him feeling a myriad of emotions; loss, anger, confusion and sadness. All rolled up into one void.
Around the Azaroths, the others got to work. They carried away the corpses of the dead magicians, and looked to be cleaning up after the battle, each corpse either destroyed beyond recognition, maimed or covered in a small pool of their own blood.
Issei winced, not used to too much gore. "W-Wow. I didn't know this kind of stuff happened in a battle."
"You need to get used to it, kid," Azazel commented as he walked towards the centre of the school grounds with Gasper and Rias following behind him. It was clear that the redhead and the dhampir disturbed at the brutality. "The Rating Games you've had don't compare to an actual battle. What you went through with that Riser kid was a playground fight in comparison to the real thing."
Rias scowled at the fact that her battle with Riser's peerage was delegated to a 'playground fight', but she held her tongue, knowing that now wasn't a good time.
"But enough dawdling. Yo, Michael!" Azazel called out, catching the attention of the 12-winged Angel. "You want to spill the secrets of that fancy weapon the Greek kid had, or should I?"
Michael had a frown on his face, not appreciating the fact that Azazel was essentially calling him out, but he couldn't do anything. All eyes shifted to him, and he sighed, exhaustion creeping onto his face. His handsome features hardened, his gentle demeanor dimming slightly.
"Well, as you've so 'graciously' given me the chance to speak, Azazel, I'll tell you." Michael had eyes on him as he seemed to be deep in thought. "The weapon that you all saw was one of the lesser known secrets of the world; the Armoury of Sin."
Akihiko blearily paid attention, summoning his sword and looking down at it. He recalled the insane woman he'd encountered on his mission some time ago. How she'd remarked on his sword being part of this 'Armoury'. But his sword worked perfectly well, if a bit problematic at times. So, why did that woman consider his sword so dangerous?
"The Armoury of Sin was an off-shoot experiment, created by a Satan-class Devil long ago, after the events of the Great War." Here, Sirzechs and Serafall perked up, confused and intrigued as to how this Devil went unnoticed, and how Michael of all people knew him. "This Devil - named Izaya Dantalion - had one goal in mind; to replicate the Sacred Gears that my Father developed."
Gasps rang through the crowd, and eyes went wide at this reveal. Azazel in particular was surprised. While the existence of knock-off Sacred Gears wasn't a new thing to be surprised about - he'd created many an Artificial Sacred Gear, after all - he was surprised that he wasn't the first one to do so.
"How did we not know of this?" Serafall questioned, confused. "News like that would've made waves in the Devil community! The Dantalion line have gone practically extinct since ancient times!"
Michael had a frown on his face, and his pristine white Angel wings darkened a bit. Azazel had an eyebrow raised. His uptight Angel counterpart getting annoyed-no, angry? Enough to cause him to potentially fall? Nearby, Gabriel had a pained look on her face.
"The reason that his actions didn't reach your ears is partially my fault. During the many scourges that occurred from the Great War, I had to fight and even kill some of the remaining Devils still opposing us. This was long before the idea of our former uneasy peace settled amongst us. Izaya was... a troubling Devil to defeat. Not only was he a genius not unlike your Satan, Ajuka Beezlebub. He also was particularly crafty. I won't bore you with the details, but he and I fought mainly because he kidnapped and was planning on raping my sister, Gabriel." Michael continued on, not unaware to the shocked looks he received at the bombshell, nor the pained look on Gabriel's face.
"His creation of the Armoury of Sin was supposed to be the off-shoot production of the Sacred Gear. Thankfully, he didn't have a System inputted for it like there was one for the Sacred Gears. And he only managed to manufacture seven of them, with the resources he had. Still, they are quite powerful. Mainly because they represent the infamous Seven Sins belonging to Devilkind."
"You mean Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony and Sloth?" Rias questioned, drawn into the story like everybody else.
Michael nodded. "Correct. They were forged in the shape of standard weapons, although their forms have been... altered, for a better term, in ordered to be handled by others. Like your own sword, Akihiko-kun."
Akihiko held up his sword, inspecting it closely.
Here, Michael turned to Yasaka. "I also recall that another of its kind found its way into the one who was ravaging your lands, correct?"
"Yes," the fox youkai answered.
"Considering the reports that your people were driven into a frenzy of madness, I would say that the axe she wielded was of the Sin of Wrath. And your blade, Akihiko-kun, is aligned with the Sin of Pride."
"Pride?" the half-Devil questioned, astounded.
"Yes. The blade has a unique property to it, in the fact that its original design of a Japanese katana was 'morphed', to put it simply. It now represents its changed properties of a Masamune blade, upgraded for your benefit. It acted out because it felt like it old power was inadequate. And so, it scorned at its weaker state, and transformed itself to suit the wielder's needs."
Akihiko frowned. "I thought that it was my Power of Chaos that changed it."
"While your powers did help, the blade's function was morphing to suit what is the decided best solution, depending on both the wielder and the situation. It will always be willing to adopt a more... prideful shape, to be blunt."
"You act like these weapons are alive," the half-Devil remarked.
"Sentient, is the better word to describe it," the Archangel corrected. "My descriptions may be too ambiguous, but research on the Armoury of Sin has been sketchy. Izaya was a paranoid being, and if not for me invading his lab before he destroyed it, I would not have even known it would've existed."
"Do you have any more information to give as to where the other weapons may be located?" Sirzechs questioned, but was disappointed when Michael shook his head.
"I'm afraid not. The sword Akihiko-kun wields was arguably the most recent one to surface throughout time, and even then, it was hardly wielded. Information on the others will be hard to extract. The only indication of their existence is the unholy aspect to them. Moreso than even most demonic beings or artefacts."
Azazel sighed, pinching his nose. "Well, that was a fun history lesson, class. But unfortunately, we're going to have to focus our efforts to the future for now. Our peace treaty has already been set, and we'll set our sights on this 'Khaos Brigade', and their actions. Michael, you can help us locate those other Armoury of Sin later, until we're regrouped and more prepared."
The Archangel nodded slowly.
"Oh, yeah. Before I forget..." Here, Azazel turned to look at Akihiko. "Have you decided, gaki? About the choice you were given before we were attacked?"
Akihiko had a confused look on his face, before they widened in remembrance. His decision regarding his outlook on the Towairaito clan.
Akihiko's father glared at the Fallen Angel. "Azazel. Is now really the best time to ask such a thing?"
Azazel shrugged, sighing. "Better we get it out of the way now. Besides, his decision will impact his actions later on in the future."
"You-" His father was about to shout this time, but Akihiko placed a hand on his shoulder, silencing him. He took a deep breath, eyes closed in concentration.
Part of him wanted to punch Azazel in the face for bringing up such a point, especially at this time. His head was all fucked up by what had occurred, he certainly didn't even need to entertain the thoughts of anger and vengeance that he'd kept to himself currently. Clenching his fists, he did his best to push through those thoughts and tried to think rationally, despite how tired he was.
"I..." Akihiko took a deep breath, a feeling of a lead object sinking in his chest filling him as he closed his eyes. "... will push my personal feelings to the side and help promote the peace treaty made between the current factions. I will also use any and all resources to help combat this 'Khaos Brigade', who threatens the very peace that we are and will be maintaining."
Opening his eyes again, he could see the surprised but proud looks on the other faction leaders faces. Yasaka had an understanding look in her eyes as sadness filled them, Odin had a pained but guarded expression - although he did give Akihiko a brief nod. Sirzechs and Serafall had a relieved expression on their faces, while Michael and Gabriel had knowing but happy looks on their own. His parents in particular looked extremely proud of him.
Only Azazel nodded slowly, as if somewhat satisfied, but still looking for something more. "I see." He shrugged his shoulders and sighed. "Guess that's a wrap, then."
XXX
(Few Days Later)
"And so, from today on, I'll be the advisor of this Occult Research Club. Please call me Azazel-sensei. Or Governor is fine too," Azazel said, wearing a suit that looked slightly worn out. His grin widened upon seeing the shocked faces of the young Devils before him. In attendance also were Kalawarner, Mittelt, Asia and Akihiko, who had bags under his eyes as he glared at the Fallen Angel.
"Why the hell am I here?" the half-Devil growled. "I'm not even a part of this damn club. In fact, I have my own, dammit!"
Azazel shrugged. "Yeah, well, you weren't in attending for your 'Otaku Club' for most of these days, especially before the treaty was signed."
He grunted. "I was busy." Some of the others looked at him with concern, but decided not to say anything. "Besides, that's a terrible idea."
"I agree," Rias inputted, a frown on her face.
Azazel squawked in surprise. "W-What? Why?! I'll be the coolest advisor this school has ever seen!"
"You're too damn shady/too suspicious," were the resounding answers from the two.
"Sheesh, you kids today sure are too damn harsh," Azazel commented, sighing.
"I-Ignore them, Azazel-sama!" Mittelt defended nervously, fearful in the presence of her boss. "I'm sure you mean very well."
Azazel turned to stare at her intensely, causing her to blush and poke her fingers nervously. "... Who are you again?" he questioned.
The others sweat-dropped as Mittelt cried in the corner, a cloud of depression hovering over her as she was dismissed so easily.
"...So, why are you here?" Issei asked, perplexed.
"Hah! I was requested to take this position by Serafall's little sister! Well, it's because I'm a super-cool guy. I score even with schoolgirls!" Azazel boasted in a confident tone.
"... Your standards are dropping/Lucky bastard!" were the resounding responses from Akihiko and Issei.
"That's forbidden! Or rather, why would Sona do such a thing?" Rias asked, rubbing her temples a little.
"Mah, mah ~ You're so stubborn, Rias Gremory! I was told by Serafall's sister that this was requested by Sirzechs. That's why she requested me," Azazel answered grinning like a loon.
Akihiko snorted. "Ah. So it must be a Maou thing." At their confused glances, he elaborated. "Serafall and Sona makes questionable choices, just like you and Sirzechs, Rias."
A tick mark appeared on Rias' face while Azazel chuckled. "Hey!"
"... He's not particularly wrong," Akeno chuckled as Rias turned to stare at her in shock.
"You too, Akeno?!" she exclaimed in shock. The Queen merely chuckled in response.
"All joke aside, why are you actually here?" Akihiko questioned.
Azazel held up his finger up, like a teacher, and explained, "The condition for me staying at this school is that I make the immature Sacred Gears possessed by the Devils of the Gremory family grow. Well, my knowledge as a Sacred Gear enthusiast is useful, after all. You guys have also heard about it, but the organization called the "Khaos Brigade" is still out there, lurking. As a future deterrent against them, the "Welsh Dragon" and your family have become famous. Rather than that, I'm an expert on the opposing "Vanishing Dragon". From the information I got on him, I know that Valerie has her own team." Here, Akihiko winced. "We're temporarily calling it the "White Dragon Empress Team". Several people are gathering around the ones who've been identified at present, Valerie, Son Goku and Achilles," Azazel concluded with a sigh. He then turned to Akihiko.
"You're also in need of some protection and tutoring, Aki-kun. Considering your growing power, and the allies that you've made, you'll be a prime target for attacks and future ambushes. Luckily, you'll have me to protect and mentor you!"
"Yay," he muttered unenthusiastically. "I presume that my parents were against the idea."
"Actually, they were all for it," Azazel revealed, enjoying the shocked look on his face. "Said that you needed to be more well-equipped to handle any more future challenges."
A knowing look in Akihiko's eyes appeared, as he knew that it wasn't just physical training that he needed to improve in.
Kalawarner nodded proudly. "As expected of Azazel-sama! His genius knows no bounds!"
Here, Azazel looked at the blue-haired Fallen for a moment. "... Are you a new recruit or something? I've never seen you before."
Like before, Kalawarner had a cloud of depression form over her as she joined Mittelt in her sulking, causing the previous sweat-drop from the group to form again. Eventually, Asia comforted the two gently.
Akihiko sighed, thinking that was all that was needed to be announced. Now, he just needed to go home and relax-
"Are Valerie and the others going to attack here again?" Issei asked in a curious tone, only to wince as Akihiko gave him a deadly glare.
Azazel shook his head at Issei's question. "No, they won't attack here again. It was a rare chance for an assassination on the leaders of the three great powers - as well as the Shinto and Norse Factions - at the conference, but that also failed. Their current opponents are Heaven, the Underworld and Asgard, with Kyoto needing to regroup and militarise itself properly. In the Underworld, all the Fallen Angels under my orders have joined together with the Devils. The Underworld won't fall so easily. The Seraph guys in Heaven also wouldn't remain silent. And the Asgardians are fuming at the attack on their sacred grounds. Also, there are the free-loading strong sacred beasts in heaven and demonic beasts as well.
"Unfortunately, we're not able to fully account for splinter groups, like the remaining Jashinists. Not to mention other supernatural groups looking to join in the chaos. No pun intended."
"Other supernatural groups?" Issei questioned.
"Sure. Other mythological groups and beings. What, you didn't think that the Three Factions, the Norse and the Shinto were the only supernatural beings in the world, did you?" Azazel guffawed at his blank look. "There's plenty of other beings in the world, both weaker and stronger than the main Three Factions. In fact, pretty much every mythology is thriving."
Issei had a frown on his face. "How exactly does that work, though? Like, I know that there's a sun goddess in Japan; Amaterasu. But, there's also other gods and beings related to the sun, right? As well as the moon, for Tsukuyomi and others also. So, how can there be multiple beings, doing their own things and running their own... section of mythology?"
It was silent, as the others stared at Issei in surprise. It was getting uncomfortable for the Red Dragon Emperor, and he exclaimed, "What?!"
"You... actually asked something smart," Akihiko answered, a stunned look on his face.
"Y-Yes." Rias cleared her throat, acting less surprised as Akihiko. "It's just that, Issei... you're not... known for insightful speeches or questions."
A tick mark appeared on his head. "Oi! Are you calling me dumb?!"
"Yes," Akihiko answered swiftly, as Issei fell over in shock at the supposed 'betrayal'.
"Well, the kid's sudden burst of intelligence aside-" Issei yelled in frustration "-it's a good question. I guess, the easiest way to answer is each supernatural group has its own... schedule of the world, so to speak. I can interact with beings, gods and monsters from different pantheons and factions easily. I'm pretty well-known, actually. But we each do our own thing. Take the Greeks and the Egyptians, for example. Like you used, Issei, the Greek pantheon has their own sun gods, Apollo and Helios. They drive their own chariots that resembles the sun. I think it was Helios that was responsible for using some horses for their chariots to pull the sun across the sky that Zeus rules. Or was that Apollo? Damn Greeks need to decide on one..." the Fallen Angels muttered.
"Anyways, the reason they're both like that is because that's what their myths and legend paint them using. Daylight and night time are already explained for the Greeks in the form of their own gods. The same can be said for the Egyptians, with their sun and moon gods being Ra and Khonsu respectively. Going back to the schedule bit, think of it like a human job interaction. You have multiple humans working in the same job, right? Like, two software engineers who do the same type of work. However, they may work for different companies, so to speak. Their schedules may be different, their colleagues may be different, their attitudes to their work are a complete contrast, etc."
All eyes were on him as he explained it, interested in yet another nugget of information relating to the supernatural that they all seemed unaware of.
"My point is, different beings may embody certain aspects of the world, but run on different schedules - or in our case, scales of power and pantheons - to allow the world - which is one huge company, I guess you could say - to run smoothly. A better example being how your brother, Rias Gremory, holds the aspect of [Destruction] quite strongly, in comparison to, say, the Greek Titan of Destruction, Perses. This is done through his Power of Destruction. His immense power and control allow for this to be so. However, the Hindu God of Destruction, Shiva, holds a more firmer aspect of [Destruction] than Sirzechs."
"How is that so?" Rias asked, curious.
Azazel shrugged. "I'm not 100% sure, but I have theories. My guess is that it's more likely due to Hinduism - the religion and mythology that Shiva hails from - is older than the Faction or mythology that Sirzechs is part of; the Abrahamic religion. So, he's more in-tune with [Destruction] than Sirzechs, so thus more powerful. Another theory is that the power difference from faith for Hinduism, and the slower methods of power that Devils seem to have as they age could be the key difference."
"... Woah," was all Issei could say after the huge dump of knowledge that they received was somewhat accepted. "S-So... if all of these... workers, I guess, were to join in on the consequences of the actions of the Khaos Brigade, there'll be war?"
"No," Azazel answered, drawing a huge sigh of relief for everyone. "It's still at the skirmish level. You could say both they and us are in a preparatory period, and hopefully, no one adds more fuel to the fire from other factions. Don't worry, something like war won't occur until you people graduate from university, let alone this school's high school division. Enjoy your school life fully. However, it is the long-awaited preparatory period. So you'll be doing various preparations, right?" Azazel asked raising an eyebrow.
""Yes!"" was the resounding sound from all who stood in the room.
Azazel smiled. "Good. "And gaki, don't think about it too hard. Either way, since you lack brains, you'll make no progress if you worry too much. Valerie is your enemy to the bitter end. Just don't forget that single fact."
As Issei gulped, Azazel turned to look at Akihiko, who scowled. "And what about you? I know that Valerie was very dear to you, but-"
"I'll do what needs to be done," was all Akihiko said, eyes narrowed. And while that sounded satisfactory to some, Azazel frowned.
"Look, you can't bullshit the grade-A bullshitter, ya know? You obviously not in the right state of mind to-"
"That will be for a future problem," the half-Devil retorted, chaos wafting off of his shoulders. The others stepped back, a little fearful.
Azazel pinched the bridge of his nose. "Look, Akihiko. I get it, okay? Valerie was close to me, too. I'm just as unhappy about this as you. But the chances of you fighting her again are quite high. You along with Issei were only able to repel her because of you two working together, despite it being very rough with your combined might of the dragon-slaying sword Ascalon, and your unique Power of Chaos. Also, she didn't go all out. If it weren't for that, you two would have lost. If it was another opponent that wasn't a Dragon and possessed power of Vali's level, both of you would have been killed."
Akihiko clenched his jaw while Issei looked depressed at the hard truth of the matter.
Azazel sighed. "Although I guess I take the blame for that, since I was in charge of Valerie, and she did both attack you guys first. Oh, well. You guys will just have to train to reach higher levels and stand a much better chance. Luckily, I'm well-informed to help all you guys out."
Rias raised an eyebrow. "How do you know about our powers specifically?"
Azazel scoffed. "You Devils aren't exactly discreet with your powers, since you all love to show them off at Rating Games." At her shocked look, he chuckled. "Devils aren't the only fans of the game, you know? And thanks to the peace pact, there are also a lot of Angels and Fallen Angels going out to watch the games."
Seeing Rias nod, Azazel turned to Akeno. "Do you still hate us- no, Baraqiel?"
Akeno scowled. "I have no intention of forgiving him. Since it's that person's fault that my mother died."
"Akeno, when you fell down to being a Devil, he said nothing," Azazel stated seriously.
Akeno's eyes narrowed. "Naturally. That person isn't in a position where he can say something to me."
"That's not what I meant. No, well, it might be thoughtless of me to enter into the space of you parent and child," the Fallen Angel Governor replied.
"I don't consider that person as my father!" Akeno said angrily.
'I see. But, I don't think it's bad that you joined the Gremory family. If things were otherwise, what would Baraqiel think, I wonder?" Azazel mused, more to himself. He scratched his chin as he was deep in thought.
Akeno didn't respond to Azazel's comment and stood there sliently, looking conflicted. Sighing, Akihiko walked towards her and held her hand gently. She turned to him and briefly smiled at him.
Azazel chuckled, causing Akihiko to turn to glare at him. "What the hell is it now?" Akihiko questioned, annoyed.
"Nothing, just... proud that you seem to be growing more and more into a man by the day," Azazel sniffled, looking teary-eyed.
"Piss off," he hissed while Akeno uncharacteristically blushed. The others looked on in confusion, before they eventually figured it out.
Rias pointed at the two, shocked. "Y-Y-You... h-had-"
"No!" Akihiko and Akeno denied, although Akeno had a blush on her face, as thoughts filled her head.
"You'd think that because you're no longer a virgin, you wouldn't act like this." Azazel's nonchalant comment had most of the girls glaring at both him and Azazel, causing Akihiko to groan. "You thinking of gaining a harem, like Issei?"
"I'm not dignifying that with a response," was all the half-Devil said.
"Oh, come on! I can educate you men on how to handle a harem! I've had quite a few in my day, you know?"
"Really?!" Issei exclaimed, stars in his eyes. Akihiko just gave him a deadpanned expression.
"Of course! I've had access to women far and wide across the world! Women with big breasts! Big butts! Slim hips! Long legs! Thick thighs! I've seen it all! I can give you tips on how to properly lose your V-card, Issei! And Akihiko! You'll become more successful with the ladies, and properly form your own harem! So, what do you say?!"
"YES!/"NO!" came the responses from both Issei and the women in the room, for different reasons. Akihiko just sighed, annoyed.
XXX
Akihiko blinked slowly as he awoke early the next morning, and found himself immobilised. Looking at the pool of black and purple hair on his chest, he blinked fully as he recalled what had occurred. "... Dammit, Sirzechs!"
He vaguely remembered the decree that Azazel had told him about, that Sirzechs issued. The ORC members and his own 'peerage' would have the choice of moving in with either him or Issei's home, and he'd have his home renovated and upgraded, due to his heroic and brave actions during the battle of the treaty. His words, not Akihiko's.
Considering that Sirzechs' intentions ranged from wanting to build a stronger bond with each other, to allowing his sister to be closer to Issei (Akihiko was still skeptical in allowing Rias to come near his house, his parents agreeing), he was unsure.
His parents were also on the fence. On the one hand, they were getting a new house, to accommodate both themselves and the new house members. On the other hand, they weren't super enthusiastic about more girls sleeping with him, both literally and figuratively. Well, his dad was fine with it, his mother was the only one who was angry.
And while Akihiko would've been more happy with pretty girls (well, Akeno, Yubelluna and the others girls as well as possibly Rias moreso. Koneko simply wasn't attractive to him, and Kiba was a dude) living with him, he was still hung-up on the events of the treaty. Specifically with Valerie.
'I'm sor-' was what she was saying, only to be cut off. 'I'm sorry' was what she planned to say. For what, betraying them? Potentially lying to them?
He sighed, doing his best to clear his mind. The thought still shook him, even now. He couldn't eat or sleep properly, too depressed and annoyed at practically everything.
"Morning, Akihiko-sama," Yubelluna yawned, clad in a violet, low-cut nightgown.
Seeing that Yubelluna had woken up, Akihiko did his best to push his thoughts to one side. He had no desire to unload on the girls his problems about the whole Valerie deal. "Morning, Luna-chan," he greeted with a tight smile.
Seeing the false expression on his face, she frowned, before leaning forward and kissing him gently. Pulling back, she smiled gently at him. "You know that we are here for you, Akihiko-sama."
He nodded listlessly, listening but not responding properly.
"You're both too loud," another voice yawned. Lifting her head off Akihiko's chest - and now sitting up on his pelvis - was Akeno, who was rubbing her eyes slightly. She was clad in a low cut, white kimono.
Yubelluna glared at her, while Akihiko blushed slightly. Akeno had taken to living with him predominately, so had decided to take up residence in his own bed. Not an unwelcome change, just something that he was trying to get used to.
"Stay out of this, stupid girl. A virgin like you wouldn't know the first thing about helping Akihiko-sama," Yubelluna scoffed.
Smiling, Akeno turned to Yubelluna, before turning to Akihiko. "I may be a virgin, but - as it stands - I'm in the best position," she teased, as she ground her hips onto Akihiko's.
Akihiko involuntarily groaned, breaking out of his funk slightly.
If looks could kill, Akeno would've been struck down by Holy Light. The Bomb Queen still held a grudge against the half-Fallen from their last battle at the Rating Game, and didn't appreciate her moving onto her Master. "I do not mind if Akihiko-sama has needs satisfied elsewhere, but if you start hogging him, we will have a problem," she warned.
"Ara, it seems you'll interfere with my fun today," said Akeno with a soft giggle. Although, there was an angered glint in her eyes as she stared at Yubelluna.
"Is this going to become a regular thing?" Akihiko interrupted, feeling annoyed. "You guys do know I plan on training in the morning, right?"
Seeing Akihiko's expression, the two decided to cease their arguing. "Well, perhaps I could join you?" Akeno offered with a smile, taking the chance before Yubelluna could.
He grunted, not giving his input on the request.
"I-I would like to join you, too!" Yubelluna exclaimed, not letting Akeno steal Akihiko's attention.
Another grunt came as he pushed through the girls, causing them to frown a little, before they followed to join him. After running through to an expanded dojo (that seemingly came with the room) and having an intense sparring session, all three of them had worked up quite a sweat. Akihiko did admit that his mood had only slightly improved, but not by much. Especially since he had to break up a fight between the two Queens.
As they were relaxing, Akeno turned to look at Akihiko seriously. "Akihiko-kun, may I ask if you would take me on a date?" she asked bluntly.
Akihiko blinked, spitting out the water he was drinking. Yubelluna's jaw dropped at Akeno's unexpected tactic. "W-What?" was all he managed to get out, coughing a little.
Yubelluna glared at the half-Fallen. "You dare try to mess with Akihiko-sama, after all he has been through?!"
"It's because of what he's been through, that I'm asking him," Akeno rebutted, glaring back. She then turned to Akihiko. "He helped me, so I want to use the day to help and connect with him properly."
Akihiko stared at her, trying to formulate a proper response. Truth be told, he could see what Akeno was doing, but he wasn't sure if he was up for it. The fact of the matter was that he was still hung-over Valerie. It was obvious - even to himself, no matter how much he tried to deny it to lessen the sting - that he had feelings for her. Her leaving him after meeting for so long, to join the Khaos Brigade... left a hole in his heart. He didn't think that going on a date with Akeno would help, even with her point of helping him.
"I haven't planned anything for today," Akihiko decided to say, not wanting to give the actual reason.
'That's fine, you'll figure something out. Besides, I just want to spend some time with you,' Said Akeno, smiling innocently.
Akihiko raised an eyebrow at her expression, before shaking his head. If she's planning on helping me, I guess it'd be a dick move to reject her... "Fine," he relented, causing Akeno to smile. He turned to an angered Yubelluna. "I'll make sure to take you out on a date as well, Luna-chan."
Now, it was her turn to smile, and Akeno's to pout.
XXX
It was a little past noon when Akeno and Akihiko set off on their date, strolling down the streets of Kuoh.
The half-Fallen slipped her hand in Akihiko's own, causing him to be moving awkwardly. Nevertheless, he held her own hand and moved on, determined to at least enjoy himself today. He needed to do his best to clear his mind.
Unknown to them, the Occult Research Club was following them, along with Ravel, Asia, Mittelt, Kalawarner and Yubelluna. Issei was left at home, otherwise he'd be griping about how unfair it was that Akihiko was taking Akeno out for a date. That left Kiba and Gasper to tag along reluctantly. Rias' excuse for coming was that 'she wanted to make sure that Akeno was okay', in which Kalawarner called out, bullshit'.
"Why the hell are we following them?" Koneko muttered, eating the sweets she'd been given in order to appease her for coming out.
"I just wanted to make sure Aki doesn't act like a weirdo and embarrass himself," Mittelt replied, looking over the pillar obstructing their view. "It'd ruin my credibility if I was to hang out with a closet perv all this time."
Kalawarner scoffed, getting Mittelt to glare at her. "Oh, just admit that you're jealous and want to spy on them."
Mittelt growled. "And what, be as blatant as you?"
"Nothing wrong with that. Besides..." She smirked at all of the other girls gathered about. "I have nothing to fear from the rest of you, since I was his first."
Asia pouted while the other girls glared at her. Koneko was just eating her sweets, in her own little world.
"Although, I'm surprised that the tomato has feelings for him, considering that he hasn't shown interest in you," Kalawarner commented, pointing at Rias, who blushed.
"I-I'm just here for Akeno!" she retorted pitifully. "It's not like that."
"Riiight," Yubelluna scoffed, rolling her eyes. "And I'm Lucifer. I do not see how you would even mesh well with Akihiko-sama, considering the trouble that came from you during the debacle with Riser."
Rias glared at her. "Not that your opinion matters, but we've made peace with that. And I guess that being Riser's sloppy seconds, you'd know all about that, wouldn't you?"
Some of the other girls 'oohed' while Koneko called out, "Oh, snap". Yubelluna glared at Rias. "A spoiled little princess like you, should learn when to keep her mouth shut. I have no idea why Riser even found you remotely attractive, since your weakness and childishness makes you about as interesting as a Low-class."
Lightning danced across the girls' eyes as they looked ready to murder each other. If not for the other Devils to ward any oncoming humans away, there might've have been magic thrown around and causing some destruction.
"How dare you?!" Rias thundered, a crimson-black aura surrounding her. "I'll make sure you understand your place before me!"
"Please," Yubelluna sneered, a purple aura surrounding her. "As if I'm supposed to fear a fat-headed brat who can't even control herself!"
"I'll show you contr-" Rias started to say, only for Asia to point out something.
"Um... where did they go?" she questioned, causing the girls to look at her, then look at where Akihiko and Akeno were supposed to be.
"... DAMMIT!" A majority of the girls shouted.

(with Akihiko and Akeno)
"Well, that worked well," Akihiko said to Akeno, as they walked through the streets, heading for a booked-in pool.
"Ufufufu, it feels so sneaky, misleading everyone like that. It's so exciting," Akeno said happily.
"Did they really think that we wouldn't see them following us?" Akihiko chuckled, a little insulted. But then again, it was kind of fun. "So, are you looking forward to using the pool?"
Akeno smiled mysteriously. "Why, of course!"
Since Akihiko had had the date sprung on him that morning, he didn't have a lot of time to plan. So he decided for something simple; swimming and a movie. Two things that didn't seem too out of place.
It took a while for Akihiko to get it booked for his and Akeno's use, but he'd managed, and decided to head into the changing room. Hopefully, it didn't escelate into what had happened the last time they both were at the pool.
As Akihiko came out with his swimming trunks on, he quickly dived into the water, closing his eyes to enjoy the added-in heat. On a day like this, the water was proportioned perfectly to handle it, causing him to relax. And since he'd been training this morning, he really needed it. He rose up, floating inside. "Damn, this feels good," he muttered as the warm water surrounded him. He closed his eyes in bliss, enjoying the sensations.
"Akihiko, what do you think?" Akeno cooed, causing Akihiko to open his eyes and drink in the sight of Akeno.
Déjà vu, he thought to himself, though his reaction wasn't as surprised. Akeno was wearing a dark purple two piece swimsuit, which barely covered her body as it was. Regardless, it showed the entirety of her long, creamy white legs and left much of her bountiful chest on display.
"You look good," he said, thankfully having his reaction much more controlled.
"Ufufu. You don't seem to be as surprised as you were before," she commented with a smirk.
"Get used to it. I'll be seeing this vision of loveliness every single day," he said back, causing her to blush a little. He smirked at managing to get her flustered. Seems she wasn't as used to others teasing her as she was of teasing others.
"S-So, what do you want to do now?" asked Akihiko, as she glided towards him through the water.
"How about a race? The winner picks the movie," she suggested.
Akihiko raised an eyebrow at the challenge, but shrugged, not seeing anything wrong with it. "Fine. I don't plan on losing anyways."
(five minutes later)
"Oh, that is bullshit!" Akihiko yelled out in frustration, slapping the water in response.
"Oh, what's wrong?" Akeno asked teasingly. "I didn't peg you for a sore loser."
"Sore loser?! It's not that!" Well, it was a little like that. "There's no way in hell you could've beaten me!"
"It seems like I just have... advantages over you," Akeno commented, shrugging her shoulders and making her breasts bounce, causing Akihiko's eye twitch.
"That's exactly why you shouldn't have beaten me!" he exclaimed, pointing at her chest. "Those things should've weighed you down!"
Akeno giggled. "Ara, ara ~ it's because you were going against the water, instead of with it."
Akihiko kept sputtering, so Akeno kept on giggling. Eventually, she slowly swam over to Akihiko, standing next to him in the water, their shoulders touching.
Akihiko sighed, but then smiled. He turned to her. "Thank you, Akeno. For helping me with my... problems."
"It's alright," she said softly, holding him gently. "I don't know exactly what Valerie means to you, but I do know that she's dear to you. And while... you may have to confront her in the future, I'll be there to help you. But I do know you will have to fight her, even-"
She paused, not wanting to say it. But he knew what she was going to say. And it was something he didn't want to think about. Still, he did appreciate her support.
Looking at him, Akeno kissed his cheek, snapping him out of his thoughts. She giggled. "Ufufu, you looked so lost in your head."
"Yeah," was all Akihiko said, smiling with her. "So, what movie did you want to watch?"
Here, Akeno had an embarrassed look on her face. "Well, I have a... unique sort of taste. Which is why I suggested the competition in the first place."
"This have something to do with your sadistic tendencies?" At her embarrassed look, he sighed. "Look, it's fine. Honestly, I'm not planning on judging you too harshly. What did you have in mind?"
Akeno smiled sheepishly.

"The Human Centipede? Really?" Akihiko questioned Akeno as they sat in the cinema. They were watching the First Sequence, along with other people. Although, he noted that there wasn't many people in the cinema to begin with. "Is this what you meant by 'unique'?"
"Yes," Akeno answered simply, eyes gluing themselves to the screen. "Shh, it's about to start!"
Akihiko sighed. Honestly, he wasn't terrified, but more... disturbed. He never watched the movie, only seen some reviews on it when scrolling the web. Needless to say, he wasn't enthusiastic about it. But if Akeno wanted to watch it, he'd sit in and make sure time went quickly for him.
As the movie progressed and the screams of the victims rang across the room, Akihiko squinted his eyes in disgust.
"Ooh, this is the best part!" Akeno exclaimed happily, causing Akihiko to groan.
As he saw the scientist guy experiment on his victims caused him to groan even louder. I would be doing literally anything than watching this, he lamented, not wanting to sit through the rest of the movies.
Eventually, the movie ended, and they walked out. "Well, that was fun," Akeno remarked happily, a blush on her face. Akihiko was about to say something, but paused at seeing her blush. He then noticed that she was walking funny.
"Are you-" Akihiko asked, a disturbed look on his face.
"Oh, look! More popcorn!" she exclaimed, grabbing his arm and moving him quickly before he could ask.

Akihiko opened the door, eye twitching from the... partially disturbing experience. "We're home."
The girls' heads popped up in surprise at seeing them arrive so late. Rias stood up and walked over to them. "There you ar-" She paused at seeing that Akihiko had a disturbed look, and Akeno looked extremely positive. "What happened?"
Akihiko turned to Rias. "Rias?" She nodded, confused. "If you ever have a movie night here, don't invite Akeno."
"But-"
"Ever."
His forceful tone surprised the girls. Yubelluna looked happy that Akihiko was disgruntled, but didn't know why. "May I ask why?"
Akeno pouted. "Oh, how unfair! I've got so many more movies! The rest of the Human Centipede, Saw, It-"
"Fuck no," Akihiko enforced, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I'm just... going to bed." He walked off to bed, ignoring the other girls' questions.
Yes, yes, I know. Over month since I've uploaded any story. But, fear not. I'm alive and... well, I'm alive.
Had to deal with exams. Still dealing with exams, in fact. But I've got a break for a few days, so I decided to pump this out.
I was planning on updating Solaris, but run into a bit of a writer's block with what to put down. It'll take a while to go away.
I wasn't even planning on updating this story soon, but a reader by the name of Hsitirb motivated me to get this update down (a little slow on it, but better late than never). So thanks to him/her.
Hope y'all liked the chapter. I expanded on the 'Armoury of Sin' bit that I made up, and modelled it after the Seven Sins. I was planning on having a minor sub-plot added to the main one to spice things up. So, mostly a filler chapter with some info. dumps.
I also am including other Devil lines, like I did with Dantalion (who'll either be fitted in the story by being part of the Extra Devil clans). I'll use other demons from Demonology, like Raum, Mammon, etc.
Next chapter will probably either be another filler, or half-filler, half actually plot progression. Looking forward to that.
Guest Review time:
1.) Cheers, then fuck off
2.) Apparently, you can't read. Because it's already been explained
3.) Whiny bitch? I talk like that because I put little shits like you in place? Oh, woe is me. Honestly, don't read if you don't like it. I think I have to drill that into people's heads at this point.
4.) Fuck off you disgusting piece of shit.
5.) Then why are you reviewing if it's such a disappointment? You can easily just fuck off if you don't like it.
And with that lovely piece out of the way, I conclude. Updates after this will be slow, but hopefully not too slow.
Thanks to all those who f,f,r and r the story. Flamers can fuck off.
