Chapter 6
Cathedral Ward
BOOM
Gunshot echoes in the wind and falling debris rains down from above. Naruto and Father Gascoigne had drowned the attention of the reanimated gargoyles, the stone fiends now to the Overlord and swoops down to attack him and the blind cleric. Naruto swiftly perform hand-signs and cast Gudōdamas to launch at the swooping hoard of gargoyles. Many gargoyles were shattered by the black orbs, forcing the rest to land and charge on the ground.
Naruto raised his gauntlet high in the sky, emitting a loud horn-like bellow that echoes across Cathedral Ward. His minions emerge from the ground and comically beneath the tombstones.
"Mastah!" the minions answered the call of the Overlord and then charges at the gargoyles on the ground. Browns leap on the stone fiends and starts swinging their weapons hard to chip and break the enemy.
The Gargoyles are trying to get the minions off him, but they were only distracting them so that Naruto and Father Gascoigne can deliver the killing blow with their pistols. Each shot, taking a minute to load every time, shatters the Gargoyles, all caused by the quicksilver bullets.
Naruto didn't even notice how easy he killed the gargoyles with one shot each, Father sensed this and chuckled.
"Quicksilver bullets, they're no ordinary ammo like your average lead shots which our pistols usually fire" said Gascoigne "Popular against demons and beasts but are rare unless you have a node of quicksilver to forge more."
"huh" said Naruto with an impressed look behind his mask and shades, suddenly the 4th and 5th Remnants caught their second wind and resumed their battle against the gargoyles. "Rested enough, huh?"
"Forgive us, Darkborne-sama" said the 4th Remnants, Hayate as he draws his sword.
"We didn't mean to take advantage of your presence" said the 5th Remnant, Yūgao.
"No worry, its just means more for me to kill" said Naruto while loading his pistol and blast a nearby gargoyle in point blank range, reducing the creature into stone dust. "and I'm LOVING this gun, it's a shame they don't sell them at ninja shops".
"Firearms were introduced in the past to be used by the Samurai in battle, they were decommissioned not long ago during the first Kage summit." Said the 4th Remnant.
"But they can still be bought, thanks to us" said the 5th Remnant. "The right to sell and bear arms was popular for shooter-class Gamers, but it benefits the Slig Security when we supply then those arms."
"Good thing too" said Naruto while blocking an attack a Gargoyle and counters with another point-blank shot. "It's just the matter of getting the right resources for craft more quicksilver bullets."
"that's in our next meeting, but right now we must focus on liberating Cathedral Ward" said Hayate clashing his blade with a Gargoyle. "Nowadays, the guns the Shooter-Class have shoot unlimited but weak bullets."
"And they're demanding stronger ammo, even if guns aren't dangerous enough already" said Yūgao shaking her head at the idea of guns. She, along with her boyfriend Hayate prefer swords than swords. "But Hayate is right, we need to focus and discuss later."
"So where are the other Remnants?" said Naruto firing another loaded shot at a Gargoyle, unfortunately for him he has used up his ammo. "Damn it"
"The Head Remnant is in the cathedral tower, maintaining the barrier so the enemy doesn't escape" said Hayate "But we don't know how long he can hold back the acolytes or long."
"2nd and 3rd are at the Cathedral Courtyard with the Clerics, trying to besiege the cathedral when the Acolytes took over." Said Yūgao while destroying another gargoyle by slicing its wings off. "6th and the apprentice are up in on the rooftops, trying to infiltrate the cathedral from above."
"Apprentice?" said Naruto while a gargoyle attempted to catch him by surprised, but he reacted first by punching its head to pieces with a Chaos Claw.
"A request in exchange for info you might me interested; we can explain later" said Yūgao after taking down 3 more gargoyles though either decapitation or clipping their wings through her swift move of her katana.
"Although we were hesitant to agree with it" said Hayate while dodging a gargoyle and counter with a stab through the chest.
"Hesitant? You damn straight refused the offer the first time and didn't want to listen to her." Said Yūgao.
"Can you blame me and the other Remnants?" said Hayate turning to Yūgao when he said that.
"…No, I suppose not" said Yūgao before decapitating a swooping Gargoyle without even looking.
The battle against the gargoyles lasted for a little while longer until the entire hoard in the area is reduced to rubble. The Remnants pant tirelessly in relief since their master and Father Gascoigne came along to help them.
"Whoa, that was intense" said Hayate.
"Indeed" said Yugao taking off her helmet so she can wipe the sweat of her forehead, her long purple hair is tied to a bun so that her hair can fit in the helmet and not get in the way. She then turns to Naruto. "Anyway, that's the gist of it."
"So, what now?" said Naruto.
"Well, you can decide on your path from here, follow us to the courtyard and breach through the gates but most likely be aware by the enemy." Said Yūgao "Or do it stealthily up on the rooftops and assist the 6th Remnant and our apprentice, you will breach the cathedral with ease, but you will not get extra help from us until we manage to break the doors down.
Which path will you take?
Courtyard (barge in up lose the element of surprise)
Rooftops (sneak in the cathedral stealthily, but get less back up from allies)
Naruto started to debate about this choice. If he takes the courtyard, he'll barge into the cathedral with no problem, but this will lose him the element of surprise. Whatever the Acolytes are up to he wants to know, and to do that is by taking the Rooftops. He'll sneak in the cathedral with no problem and learn of the acolytes' plans but he will or get the aid from the 4 remnants and the Dark Clerics.
"I suggest the Rooftops, Naruto-kun, something isn't right about this attack" said Jūbi "Wouldn't your uncle put up a full-scale attack to dominate your domain, and yet his acolytes are focusing on the cathedral."
You think they are after something? Thought Naruto.
"Definitely. I mean this isn't the first time they did this, remember the Fire Temple?" said Jūbi.
Hai, Furido and his Acolytes snuck into the catacombs to take the Fire Hive… thought Naruto, now he's even more curious. Whatever Akenomyosei is interested in, is not a good sign.
Finding the reason, Naruto selected Rooftops so that he can learn what his uncle is plotting this time.
Father Gascoigne has left the Party

"I need to know what Akenomyosei is up too" said Naruto "And also ensure the barrier is secure"?
The Remnants nod at this decision and leaves Naruto to climb up the building wall where it's less defended by security fences. Father Gascoigne also joins Hayate and Yūgao to the battle at the cathedral courtyard. Naruto reaches up the rooftops stealthily while the perching gargoyles are focused on the roads.
Rooftops
Naruto ventured through the rooftops quietly so not too alert the perching gargoyles above and finally reached the dark towering cathedral. The young overlord hid behind one of the chimneys and look over to see the battle below. The 4th and 5th remnant, as well as Father Gascoigne have made it to the courtyard to assist the 2nd and 3rd Remnants, and the dark clerics in the fight against the demon prince's acolytes and more reanimating gargoyles perching on the walls and roofs of the buildings surrounding the courtyard.
Good luck, Naruto inwardly said until he heard battle not far and rushes to investigate. On the highest roof that is near the bell tower, he sees the two gamers are waiting him.
6th Remnant
The 6th Remnant, newest member of the Remnants of Ombré, donned with the dark remnant armour but with a beige surcoat with a hood. She fights with no sword but with either live snakes or leather whip.
Remnant apprentice
The other figure is a mystery, she is wearing a hooded cloak and a plain mask, underneath what appears to be a school uniform consisting with a black and red plaited skirt, and a yellow sleeveless cardigan with a white shirt underneath. The weapon she's wielding is a pair of wakizashi strapped to her hip.
Like Naruto, they are planning to infiltrate the cathedral from up the bell tower, but they are unfortunately halted by an unexpected foe. The 6th remnant and the apprentice are now battling against something large and made of stone. A gargoyle perhaps? He isn't sure as is too low to be sure.
He hurries up to the reach the gamers to help them, climbing up by using the chimneys as steppingstones and leaped to grab the ledge of the higher roof and pull himself up.
Made it, now he can see what the 2 remnants are fighting.
It's a Gargoyle but unlike the others this one is twice as big, wearing old bronze armour, has a long tail with a bronze axe head barb and armed with a bronze halberd. It's quadrupedal but fights bipedal while holding its weapon.
Bell Gargoyle
Description: once a gothic décor for the cathedral bell tower, this stone and bronze breast has been reanimated by the acolytes to fight against the Dark Clerics.
The Bell Gargoyle became aware of the 2 remnants' plan to sneak in the cathedral and glides down to stop them. With its bronze armour it has a defensive advantage against the 2 gamers, as well as a 12-foot-long halberd made entirely of bronze, from pummel to blade. Large as it is, it is surprisingly agile and quick, was well as intelligent than its smaller kin. Dodging by leaping backward from the 6th Remnant's lashing whip and the apprentice's swift cross slashes from her Wakizashis, it counters by lunging it's halberd and swiping its barbed tail.
Dodging this is limited for the Remnants for they are up on the roof and the risk of falling off is high. Plus, the footing is unstable as the tiles on the roof is now fragile and are now loose, slipping on these tiles will risk falling off or trip, leaving them open to the stone and bronze beast's attack.
The 6th Remnant is now cornered, she is trying to keep the Bell Gargoyle at a wide berth so not to knock her off the roof, the Apprentice is trying to do some damage, but she cannot break through the bronze armour with her Wakizashis.
"Damn it, I am starting to hate gargoyles" said the 6th Remnant.
"Me too" said the apprentice before the gargoyle knock her down with a swish of its tail. As she tumbles, the roof-tiles become loose and causes her to slide to the edge. The apprentice tries to stop by pushing her feet on the roof but that only caused more tiles to loosen. "Damn it!"
As the Apprentice was about the fall off the roof, she was suddenly caught in time by a hand reaching out. She took it while falling off the edge and looks up to see her saviour.
"Whew, that was close" said the apprentice looking at her saviour, whose face is concealed by the black face mask and shades, and his hair covered by the tricorne hat. The Apprentice doesn't have to guess who he is since the remnants already informed her during her training with them. "Thank you, Darkborne-san".
"No problem" said Naruto as he helps the apprentice back up on the roof and guide her to the more stable part. "Your footing need work"
"Like you're the expert" the apprentice said with an amusing scoff.
"You'd be surprised" said Naruto "Now if you excuse me, I need to get to the cathedral."
"That gargoyle won't let you" said the apprentice "it attacked the moment we throw our lines on the tower.
"Then I best deal with that creature then" said Naruto as he casually approaches the Bell Gargoyle while it's focus on the 6th Remnant is fixed. Naruto starts to channel it's red Phazon and activate his Chaos Claws. He then grabs hold onto its tail and pulls if away from the 6th Remnant. Surprised, the Bell Gargoyle is them being twirls around and around until it's arms and legs left the surface of the roof. Naruto is the one twirling like a hammer throw, springing his body while his grip on the gargoyle's tail is on.
Naruto lets go of the tail and tosses if off the roof, the Gargoyle exclaims with a panicked shriek before it falls off the roof. Naruto dusts off his hands, still shrouded in red phazon.
The Bell Gargoyle recovered from that surprise attack and climbs back on the roof, it shook the dust and debris off its body and starts roaring at a battle cry before posing for battle. Naruto starts cracking his phazon infused knuckles while approaching the Bell Gargoyle.
"You two get up the bell tower without me, I'll won't take long" said Naruto to the 6th Remnant and the apprentice.
"Are you sure you can deal with that beast?" said the apprentice, showing hidden concern for the Overlord…even though it's hidden it is noticeable to Naruto. "It wouldn't be fair to leave you when 2 of us can hardly fight the thing."
Naruto chuckled slightly as he is only a few metres away from the bell gargoyle and he isn't worried about facing the stone beast alone.
"I'll be fine, I will keep the beast busy while you climb up" said Naruto before tackling the Bell Gargoyle which begun their fight on the already unstable rooftops.
The Apprentice is somewhat hesitant, but the reluctance ends when the 6th Remnant nudged her on the shoulder.
"Come on, let's not waste any more time" said the 6th Remnant as she starts hoisting herself up to climb.
The Apprentice looked back at the Overlord, who is now in a heated wrestling match against the gargoyle. She stares for a few more seconds before she joins her partner/mentor in the climb up to cathedral's bell tower. The battle between Darkborne and the Bell Gargoyle has always started and with the Overlord's favour, he channelled his Red Phazon all over his body which mimics the kyūbi shroud and his animal-like stances with it.
It's not a battle against a man against a beast, but rather beast on beast fighting for dominance. Naruto is acting ferocious when he starts beating his phazon enhanced fists at the gargoyle's stone and bronze head.
"Whoa" said the apprentice while gazing at this faux style battle.
"Hey, focus on climbing, kid!" exclaimed the 6th Remnant "You can admire our master later".
The apprentice suddenly stammered and immediately turned away, luckily her face is conceals so that her blush isn't exposed.
"S-Shut up" muttered the apprentice at her mentor, but the 6th Remnant only chuckled.
As the two continue to climb up the cathedral's bell tower, Naruto remains in combat against the Bell Gargoyle, the stone beast managed to swat the Overlord off with its axe barbed tail and forced him to jump back onto the rooftops and their unstable roof-tiles. Now it's the beast's turn to charge and pounce at Naruto, but Naruto denied it the please and threw a phazon enhanced punch in its face.
The punch sent the gargoyle flying and crashing hard into the roof, the impact caused it to break the roof and crash-lands into the top floor beneath the Overlord. Naruto wasted no time and jumped inside the hole. With the beast staggered, stunned and on it's back, Naruto proceed in beating the living shit out of the creature.
A few minutes of hard punches, the Bell Gargoyle losing it's resolved to fight and tries to flee for its life. Naruto frowned after seeing this and grabbed the barbed tail tight so it wouldn't escape.
"Oh no you don't" said Naruto before yanking the gargoyle back inside the broken room so to beat the stone and bronze beast again. The Bell Gargoyle shrieks in plea and terror, trying to call for it's smaller brethren but sadly its pleas fall to deaf ears, for the battle at the courtyard is drowned by its own cacophony of violence and war.
Bell Tower
The 6th Remnant and the Apprentice finally reached the highest window of the bell tower with no problem. They climbed inside only to be greeted by the Head Remnant himself, who is right now leaning on the barricaded door so he can stop the acolytes from entering the room.
"About time you got here!" said Iruka while dodging a blade which pierced through the door. "I was beginning to think you've forgotten about me."
"Of course not, Sensei" said the apprentice as she rushed by to assist Iruka "Had a little problem with that giant gargoyle".
"you're not the only one, kid" said Iruka as he jerks his head up to gesture the hole on the ceiling. "I had a visit from our stone and bronze friend this morning."
"You may want to wait for a little longer, Darkborne's down below to help us."
Iruka said nothing for a while only to chuckles for a bit.
"I expected him to come, but never to take this road" said Iruka "He must he real concerned for his old teacher, huh?"
"As if he ever took your lessons serious" the apprentice said jokingly.
"Neither did you" Iruka retorted with a smirk hidden in his helmet.
"Hey, I paid attention."
"True, but you mostly faun over that broody emo time to time" said Iruka "You got lucky to pass the graduation exam because of your book smarts. But Intelligence alone will not aid you in missions which require combat and skill."
"…well obviously! But I'm not that girl anymore."
"We'll see about that, once you pass the trials." Said Iruka until he noticed something is blocking the light beaming out of the hole on the ceiling. "Kuso, it's back."
Suddenly something drops down from that hold in the ceiling, revealing to be Darkborne himself. He looks up at that very hole where you can see the rearing head of the Bell Gargoyle.
"Cheers, Victor" said Naruto "Now get Hugo and deal with those naughtier little gargoyles, will ya."
The Bell Gargoyle, which Naruto named Victor nods in obedience to Naruto and flies off. Naruto then turns to the 3 Remnants, who are frozen in place by shock and disbelief, he chuckles at their concealed expression.
"Hi" said Naruto.
"Uhh, hi" Iruka responded awkwardly at the Overlord. "DO I need to ask?"
"Short version, I beat them Bell Gargoyles into submission and learned who the true master is." Said Naruto "I even used the Evil presence spell on them just in case."
"Wait, there are two of them?" said the 6th Remnant.
"Hai, while I was dealing with Victor, another one which I call Hugo came to help him." Said Naruto "Now they're mine to command and remind them of their purpose."
"What purpose?" said Iruka.
"The purpose that gargoyles are meant to be guardians of the cathedral" said Naruto "With them, Father Gascoigne will rest easily with Victor and Hugo guarding this hold place."
Iruka chuckles in amazement at his new master, reminding him of the time back when he uses to serve under the Maelstrom Overlord.
The Overlord never cease to amaze me thought Iruka until the thought of mind was rudely interrupted by a hard impact from behind his helmet. Iruka move away from the door to see that one of the acolytes behind the door struck him with an axe. Luckily, the helmet he's wearing is dense enough to cause any damage. "Now that's rude".
"Indeed" said Naruto as he draws out his Saw Cleaver while the remnants regroup with their weapons in hand. "Let's teach them to respect the sanctity of the cathedral."
The door suddenly breaks along with the barricade, causing a dozen acolytes to barge in with weapons of their own. Naruto, and 2 remnants and the Apprentice immediately charge into battle against the acolytes.
Both forces clash in combat, their weapons clang and echo in the bell tower. The acolytes outnumber the overlord, the 2 remnants and the apprentice, but that disadvantage didn't last when Naruto clutch his gauntlet tight in a hard fist and raises it to summon his minions. Emerging from the floorboards and dropping from the rafters, the browns and greens came to assist their master and his allies. The greens ambush the acolytes from the above the rafters while the browns sneak from below from the floor.
Taken surprise by this, the acolytes were left open for Naruto and Iruka to throw fatal blows on some before they are aware of the vulnerability. With the minion's guide, the Overlord's party took down a handful which made their remaining enemy fearful and planning to flee for their lives, but their flee is denied when the minions cut off their retreat by standing in front of the door, backing them away with spears, swords and other sharp and pointy objects used as weapons.
Trapped, the remaining acolytes are now at the Overlord's mercy, but they know better that mercy means death by his hands. True to that, Naruto commenced the execution of his defeated foes who dare oppose him and Yami, for their crimes against the Dark Gamer community is siding with the so-called pretender known as Akenomyosei.
Some tried to beg for forgiveness and for the Overlord to spare their lives so they can be his servants, but Naruto saw this as an act of cowardice and slew them regardless. One by one, the Overlord struck down the defeated acolytes who tried to capture this room where the source of the barrier surrounding the Cathedral Ward is still intact.
Some of the corpses of the acolytes fade away, those who are gamers while those who aren't remained to litter the ground and stain the floor with their blood. But none of that bothered Naruto and the others for they are taking a little break from their combat against their foes.
"Alright, that's them dealt with" said Naruto as he then heads for the door. "Now we us see what my uncle is up to".
"Hai, whatever it is it can't be good" said Iruka as he joins Naruto.
Cathedral: Hall
Descending from the bell tower, Naruto and his party finally reached the main area of the cathedral, in the upper floor overlooking the main hall which is occupied with acolytes sitting on the pews while a certain man in white and gold stands before them by the altar. Akenomyosei, face concealed as always by his sun-shaped mask speaks out to his followers in an announcement while behind him and the altar are four wooden cranes around a large hole while being worked on by each from the acolytes.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the time of rejoice has come, for many long months since this town was built for this so-called Overlord has given us a window of opportunity to destroy him." Said Akenomyosei "Them fools in the Remnants of Ombre and my dear nephew has given us 2 components of our plan, the hearts themselves and this cathedral, there is just once more thing left to do…bring her in."
Suddenly 3 women walk in between the Demon Prince and his acolytes…or rather 2 people walked while dragging the third. The first woman is wearing a dark blue regal coat with a black blouse, black pants with long brown leather boots, her face is concealed with a black hanya mask. Naruto feels a demonic yet familiar aura around her, like it belongs to a certain girl he helped grow months back.
The other wear the similar dark gear as Darkborne's but with a white cravat around her neck, a pair of wine-coloured pants with knee high leather boots and her tricorne hat has a white plume on the side. Her face isn't covered, showing her pale flawless skin, piercing blue eyes and her long sun kissed hair tied in moderately lengthened twin-tails. Naruto couldn't help but gaze at her face, as if he have seen this girl before.
The third girl is wearing a white hooded cowl which her long blond hair cascades down from and her eyes are covered in white straps of cloth. She is being held and dragged by these other 2 girls as they were keeping her prisoner. She brought the hooded girl and forced her down to her knees before Akenomyosei.
"Thank you, Kurasa, Maria" said Akenomyosei before looking down to the kneeling hooded woman, who is right muttering in prayers. "Vicar Amelia, she had assigned her to guard the cathedral from us while that nuisance Father Gascoigne is relieved of duty to recuperate after those long months trying to reach this place. But fortunately, she is also the main key to our plan, she is the current guardian of the tomb."
Vicar Amelia reared her hooded head at Akenomyosei in anger and "Glares" at him.
"You are foolish to go to that tomb, you have no idea what you'll awake down there."
"Oh, I know" said Akenomyosei "I did my research, a part of my own father's history he didn't want everyone to know. His own dirty secret, the very secret in which I am part of."
"Then you must understand why it must be buried and forgotten, why the former Overlord did it, for our sakes."
"I care not for the wellbeing of the Gamers, Vicar" said Akenomyosei "I simply wanted what was mine. He denied me the position of Overlord, but he will not deny me of my other heritage."
"It is not the overlord who decides who become the new overlord, it's the will of Yami" said Vicar.
"Spare me that same old excuse, I heard it a thousand times" said Akenomyosei before looking at the hanya masked girl Kurasa and the mysterious Maria "bring her, she'll join the hearts in our ritual."
Kurasa and Maria said nothing but bring vicar Amelia back to her feet and drag her to the hole behind the altar.
"guard the area in case those fools manage to break in" said Akenomyosei to his acolytes.
"And if I happen to see the Overlord?" said one of the acolytes.
"Stall him as possible, he must not ruin the ritual" said Akenomyosei when a wooden platform emerges from the hole behind the altar, the cranes are holding the platform and work as a lift to take the Demon prince down to the bottom. "and keep your bloodlust aside when you see him, despite everything I still have use for him yet."
"Hai" said the acolytes bowing to their master while he descends the hole with his 2 allies and prisoner.
The Overlord watches his uncle go down the hole via the lift, he frowns for 2 reasons, one is for the desecration of the cathedral and for wonder what Ryo is after down beneath. Sadly, the hole is now being covered by a magical barrier casts by the same acolytes who are now guarding the holding the cathedral's hall.
Anyway, the time to ponder about it will have to wait as he need to get to Akenomyosei down that whole, where this tomb the vicar mentioned is located.
"We need to get down that hole" said Naruto to Iruka while looking at the acolytes.
"So, what's the plan?" said Iruka.
"We need to let the other's in" said Naruto as he turns to the main doors, which are boarded and barricaded. "We need to clear the doors and unlock them; this will give us some back up against the acolytes and Maria."
"But even if we do clear the doors, I doubt the acolytes will just sit there and let us do it." Said Iruka as he stared at the number of acolytes in the area. "and there are many of them."
"Then we'll cut off their numbers" said Naruto as he points up at the rafters, hanging on them are a couple of unlit chandeliers. "We'll drop them on the acolytes and crush a good number of them. But we need to do it simultaneously of they'll dodge them."
"But who's gonna do that" said Iruka.
"Leave that to me" said the 6th Remnant as she starts to stand up the ledge and jump to grab on the rafters. "Just give us the signal to drop them."
"Hai" said Naruto to the 6th Remnant before turning to Iruka and the apprentice. "We'll do this quietly as possible; we don't want to alert them early."
"Hai" said Iruka and the apprentice before they stealthily and quietly head down to the lower floor of the cathedral's main hall. They timed their moments to approach the doors and sticking to the shadows, quietly the move the barricades from the door, the progress is slow, but it'd be slower if they're caught.
They first move the smaller objects firsts away from the door, so they won't fall off accidentality and prematurely alert the enemy. Naruto looked back and no one ever noticed, either he's very lucky or something is not right about this. He turns his attention and activate his Mangekyō Sharingan behind his shades, with his enhanced vision, he suddenly noticed a strange aura emanating within the barricade he stops hauling the barricade to get a closer look. He found the source of the aura, and it looked like a sheet of paper wrapped around the legs of the pews.
Shit Naruto mentally exclaimed before he jumped away before the paper glowed and it spew out toxic gas. Iruka and the apprentice didn't notice this in time and got caught in the gas, they started to cough out loud which echoed around the cathedral halls.
The cough alerts the acolytes and turn their attention to the overlord and his party.
"Shit, they bobby trapped the barricade in case any of us got in" said Naruto as the acolytes got up from their seats and gather up to fight. "Looks like we don't have much choice them".
Naruto raised his gauntlet and waves a gesture in the air, the acolytes assumed he is summoning his minions and hold their ground, but in truth it was a signal for Anko who is still in the rafters, telling her to drop the chandeliers. The signal has been made and Anko cut the lines holding these very chandeliers which are hanging above the acolytes.
"Ha, surprise!" said Anko after dropping the chandeliers, which they fall and crush a good number at once. The enemy has been decimated and staggered in shock; Naruto saw this as change.
"Step aside!" Naruto commanded to his party.
Iruka and the Apprentice obeyed while Naruto swiftly performed hand-signs to conjure a jutsu. He uses Gudōdama for his choice and starts launching them at the barricaded door to force it open for the reinforcements. The barrage of black chakra balls slams through the barricade and riddled the front door, causing alert to the other side while making the cathedral accessible for the dark clerics and the other remnants.
Iruka was in awe at this but it was short lived when one of the acolytes tries to strike from behind.
CLANG!
Iruka dodged it and counters by disarming the bastard.
"Looks like them acolytes aren't waiting any longer" said Iruka "And neither are we. Open the doors, rookie!"
"Hai" said the apprentice as she rushed to the now riddled door after Naruto cleared it of debris. Naruto and the Apprentice heaved the twin doors with all of their might, luckily they got help from the other side as they are pushing it open so they can get in quick.
Finally, the door opens, and the other side are the rest of the remnants of Ombré and the Dark Acolytes who survived their endeavour against the gargoyles and other acolytes out on the courtyard.
The rest of the remnants and the dark clerics charge in to join their masters to fight against the acolytes. Now the battle wages inside the cathedral, the cacophony of metallic clangs and battle cries echo through the vast halls.
The battle continues for the acolytes are resilient, but Naruto knows better than to waste time when his traitorous uncle is descending to the bottom of the cathedral foundations.
"We got to stop Akenomyosei" said Naruto to Iruka while he and the Head Remnant regroup with the rest of the remnants. "Whatever is down there we cannot let him get to it."
"Especially when he's got the Hearts" said Iruka "We must rescue them and stop this ritual of his."
"Right, keep the acolytes busy" said Naruto as he heads for the hole behind the altar. "I'm going after them."
"Wait, you may need help" said Iruka "bring the lift up so I can join you."
"Good idea" said Naruto before he dives into the hole. "See you on the other side!"
Iruka chuckled at the sight, no matter how different Naruto is to the one he knows back in his lost realm, he is still that brash young troublemaker he knew back in the academy.
Some things never change thought Iruka before he continues to fight against the acolytes along with the rest of his remnants and the dark clerics. "Alright, let's clear this holy place of the filth!"
"HAI!" said the remnants.
Meanwhile
Up on the rooftops in the Cathedral Ward, Kamen Rider Ex-aid and Amazon Omega saw the storming of the cathedral. The gamer clad in electric pink, black and silver crouches on the ledge while his green and black clad comrade stands quietly.
"Looks like the fun started without us" said Ex-aid "we best now waste time or else this game is over."
"Hai" said Amazon Omega, who is now calm as he regained his humanity. "But I still think I should rest more."
"Disregarding Compa's orders, I hold a second opinion and decide you're fit for action, Haruka-kun." Said Ex-aid as he turns to his green and black clad comrade. "And don't worry, I always come prepared if things get out of hand for you."
Ex-aid pulls out a small medical pack which contains a bunch of syringes containing glowing blue liquids.
"You're not due for quite a while, and I'll make sure you get your treatment on time" said Ex-aid "I'm a doctor first, Rider second."
"O-Ok" said Amazon Omega
"Now come, we're wasting more time standing here" said Ex-aid as he jumps off and heads for the cathedral.
Amazon Omega is hesitant for a moment while Ex-aid runs across the courtyard and towards the open doors. He looks at his slightly shaken hand and clutches it tightly as the memories of last night's Hunt haunt him, of how he surrendered to the beast within and got lost in a feeding frenzy. It's bad enough for him to learn that he's not truly human, but to live though it while taming his primal urges to kill and eat like an animal is another.
I'm still not use to this thought Amazon Omega as he then heads to the cathedral and catch up to Ex-aid.

Saw Cleaver
Description: One of the trick weapons of the workshop, commonly used in the hunting business. This saw, effective at drawing the blood of beasts, transforms into a long cleaver that makes use of centrifugal force. The saw, with its set of blood-letting teeth, has become a symbol of the hunt, and only grows in effectiveness the more grotesquely transformed the beast.
