Chapter 9
"I am about as ready as I can be." Harry said taking the portkey "Look after Lady Carter and tell Kingsley to school his expression better the hate in his gaze is bothering me." A moment later he activated the key and was gone.
The portkey deposited him on a boat. Noting it was empty he turned his time turner twice and was suddenly beside a gray cloaked man. "Welcome Mr. Potter to the first part of the gauntlet." A grey cloaked man said and Harry noticed he could not see into the hood "I must ask you to remove any portkeys you might have brought with we don't want you leaving the testing area"
"I Swear on my Life and Magic I brought no Portkeys with me" Harry declared "Lumos, Nox. Are you with the Department of Mysteries?"
"Yes, I am, I am Aramis, before you ask Athos, Porthos and D'artagnan will meet on with you on your journey." The man said pulling down his hood revealing a what Harry could only call a handsome man. Not much older than hair long black hair, and sky-blue eyes. "Now you best be off you need to make landfall in three hours or less. Any tool or any spell save apparition is allowed. The last time a potential tried to apparate he exploded."
"No apparition, Check!" Harry said sarcastically "I want to apologize for the mess my friends and back in spring of 1996."
"All is well Harry Potter off you go! 30 miles that way and have care there is something in the water and it has a hate for travelers there is also Hungarian Horntail that makes it home in this area too" Aramis said with wry grin "how you planning on getting there?"
"Well, I could do snap conjuration and conjure a boat and propel it with magic, I could also use Gilly weed, maybe try to finish my Animagus transformation, or I could just you know … fly!" Smirking summoning his firebolt out of the pouch, mounted and accelerated
Aramis smiled and dug a mirror out of his pouch "Go for Porthos" there was a delay when his portly friend's face appeared in the mirror "Aramis I say the Ladies are asking for you when will you be here?"
"Porthos, Lightning Bolt is airborne release the Kraken" Aramis said shaking his head "I will be there shortly please order me my usual."
"Release the Kraken he says" Porthos grumbled "was enjoying a very good meal to" tapping his portkey he was whisked away appearing a minute later at a crystal trident, "Reaching out with both hands he twisted the trident 90 degrees and then pushed it down. It was then he noticed a shadow eclipsing him and heard breathing deep and heavy. it was only instinct that gave him the moment to roll backward as a dragons claw shattered the trident "Shit on me" he cursed activating his emergency portkey dumping him back at the pub where his three companions were waiting. "We have a problem a really big problem when I released the Kraken the dam horntail tried to kill me it succeeded in shattering the trident."
"You had one job Porthos!" Athos declared slamming his mug down casting a sonorous on himself Retreat to the mountain hold, Send out Patronus messages to all nearby islands." He repeated the instructions several time before ending the spells "Aramis send a Patronus to Lightning Bolt we are likely going to need his help. D'artagnan, Contact the ICW we are going to need a lot of help.
Harry was flying at or perhaps a bit above the top speed of the broom at about 100 feet off the water he could see mermaids, dolphins, whales and even a Siren, He then rose to 1000 feet or so and he could see the sun sparkling off the water he then it was like a wave of darkness flew past him in the water breaking up the shimmering of the sun on the water and he noted several Messenger Patronus. Flash past him and pulled to a stop hovering in the distance he could see the water roiling and creature from nightmares rose from the water it had six arms and its head was gargantuan.
Cerisuan the dragon looked up as the Kraken, a titan that had not been seen in almost 7000 years rose up, she looked back at her nest the first time she had clutched since that farce when the youngling stole a fake egg from her after she had been starved for a month, she had not wanted to harm the youngling but hunger and rage blinded her. She saw beings of light begin to streak past her and the titan she saw one making its way to altitude and with her enhanced sight she could see a lone figure floating above the water and one of the beings of light stopped right in front of the stupid human
Harry was floating there trying to formulate a plan when a Patronus stopped write in front of him "Mr Potter, I am terribly sorry to be the one to tell you this your test has now changed due to the dragon attacking Porthos The trident of Neptune has been destroyed freeing the Kraken which while it was going to be used to test you in a controlled fashion now for the first time in forever the titan is free. You are hereby deputized by the Department of Mysteries of the United states of America to deal with the threat in any way you deem necessary until reinforcements arrive. Harry felt more than saw the dragon as it floated above him
'Little one, it has been some time since we saw one another. You cost me an entire nesting of eggs but in return you gave me freedom' Harry heard the voice in his head and the entire world stopped craning his head he could see the iron collar still on her 'Unfortunately another of your kind appeared near my nest and activated Neptune's trident in trying to stop him I have set loose the titan that Moros sealed away.'
"Shit on me!" Harry exclaimed "How did wizards miss that you could communicate I would think that would be a notable discovery and it would be on the books."
'Well, little one, do you think cows try to talk to humans when they are being slaughtered?' the dragon asked gravely 'humas are a young race still learning. The ancients however knew and where friends to all. You have some of their blood in you it is possible you can hold the titan at bay should he attack an island I will try to lead him away from my nest.
Various places around the Universe.
Ganos Lal had been watching the Harry Potter since the incident in Rowena's room. His troth with woman who was going through the stargate. Had led him to study harder and be better in general. His people had made a critical mistake before activating the trident and now something they as a species agreed to imprison for the safety of the younger races was free with only a dragon and a semi educated wizard. Stood between it and the world. She had turned to the others seeing all of her race gathered in one place. It was disconcerting to say the least even Oma Desala was in attendance. "That which was bound was accidentally freed right now all that stands between it and the safety of the world is one of Moros blood kin."
"He is not Just of the line of Moros" A voice among many spoke "You speak of my son as if I were not here"
"We cannot interfere Lily it is against our highest laws. That this world is the origin of our descendants changes little." One voice among many spoke the others murmured their agreement
"I think it would do the lot of you good to descend for a lifetime" Lily Stated "A human mentored me while was mortal not so long ago. He said it is our choices that determine who and what are. Not just our circumstances of birth. That if one had power it was not a right to use but a responsibility. That Creature is of ascended making therefore it is our responsibility to clean it up."
"You are both right we cannot directly interfere but I believe we may work through an intermediary. "Moros's Heir sits their floating on air speaking with a dragon just as his ancestor had done tens of Millenia ago. Let him be our unwitting agent in the universe. It is only a matter of time before he steps across the gate into the wider galaxy."
The others discussed this She returned to watching. She Saw the titan move off and Harry being stupidly brave started peppering it with physically damaging spells which serve on to annoy the creature until he scored a hit in an eye leaving a bloody eye socket. blinding the titan in one eye. Which was bad because the titan activated all of its appendages wildly hit harry simultaneously knocking harry out and destroying the broom
The Pentagon
Sarah Ofenkil had just finished a particularly brutal meeting with the president, Senator Kinsey and the joint chiefs of the armed forces. She had told them that the magical forces of the United States could stand down the Terrorist known as Voldemort was dead and his organization was completely dismantled. However, the meeting had been interrupted by a patronus messenger
"This is Agent D'artagnan. Neptune's Trident has been destroyed the Kraken is free. We need reinforcements immediately Agents Athos, Aramis Porthos and subject Lightning Bolt are all that stand against it." the message stopped causing everyone to look at Samantha
"Madam Secretary, please tell me one of your agents is quoting clash of the titans on a whim." The president asked and chuckles broke out around the table she felt like curling up and dying
"We were going to use the titan as part of the Defense mastery test for subject lightning bolt Unfortunately the apparatus that predates every society on earth by 70000 years was destroyed. If you will look at the monitor you will see images of the Titan, Subject lightning bolt and apparently the Dragon that destroyed the trident."
"Why Is lightning bolt look like he is talking to that animal" Senator Kinsey snarled "Shouldn't the dragon be trying to eat him or something."
"Minister Ofenkil where is this satellite stationed"
"In order?" Samantha asked she looked around the table "One Dragons are not animals for the longest time they taught mankind magic. They are higher order beings than mankind, that they have not spoken to man since the age of Merlin is very telling of our species. The satellite is in geosynchronous orbit over the Bermuda triangle which has been a prison for the titan since before man discovered fire." She was about to say more when she saw Lightning Bolt Engage the Titan. Holding her breath she watched him fly rolling, faking and strafing the titan's head until he found his stride and sent out an overpowered Bombarda hex that blew out the Titan's left eye.. The loss of its eye sent the titan into a rampage, arms thrashing in every direction. She inhaled as Harry managed to avoid three of six arms before his luck ran out and he was swatted from the sky. She watched in horror as the young man was hit hard enough to break his body and the broom. he crashed into the ocean as his broom broke in two pieces. The other thing the thrashing cause was to make tidal waves start moving in several directions
In the end she sent 150 field agents and prayed it would be enough
British Ministry of Magic
Kingsley was sitting in his office thinking of ways to keep Harry Potter in the United Kingdom and helping the His Ministry and the only thing her could think of was to remove him from Samantha Carter's sphere of influence. His train of thought was broken when the patronus messenger charged through a nearby window. He was horrified to hear what was awoke after a hurried five-minute conversation with the head of the department of mysteries he dispatched 30 unspeakable field agents including the ghost and his apprentice. What he knew was under no circumstances could he send Harry.
The ascended watched in fascination as this child flew around peppering the titan with spells eve blowing an eye out "He is not doing to bad really" Janus surmised "are we sure he needs help?"
"Of course, he is not doing bad for human against a being of myth and legend" a very irate red head said appearing in their midst" Her green eyes met with Janus "We warded that thing in, Hells we were the ones who helped Moros entrap the thing there. You all know what happens to the world if this thing gets free. Oma if you will
"Janus were dropped on your head as a baby" Oma Desala broke her silence as they watched Harry fall into the water Oma raised her hand and Harry appeared before them "Welcome Harry son of James. I believe you have some explaining to do."
"Did anyone get the number of the lorry that just ran me over?" Harry asked plaintively Oma Motioned for Harry to turn around Harry turned around and there was lithe red headed woman looking at him with murder in her eyes
"Harry James Potter, I did not carry you for ten months, raise you for 15 months, sacrifice my physical form just to watch you try to kill yourself on a broom." Lily looked at her son tapping her foot trying to remain angry but eventually she opened her arms and Harry stepped in and hugged his mother. "You fly brilliantly. Watching your life has been a test I wanted to..." She was interrupted by someone clearing their throat "Right then right now you are not dead but your body is messed up pretty bad. We the ancients, the progenitors of humanity would like for you to temporarily be our agent in the physical universe."
"How temporarily and why?" Harry asked channeling Samantha
"The rest of your mortal life and because humanity has taken its first steps into the greater galaxy" Oma interrupted we have temporarily ascended you it will give you the power to complete your task you will also learn things but when you descend for the most part they will be locked away."
"Will I remember my mother?" Harry asked simply already knowing the answer but was surprised when another woman answered
"Yes, you will but you will only be able to discuss it with your wife and she will only be able to discuss it with you." She spoke quickly "look there is no easy way to say this but you have been down most of a day at this point the titan will be at the edge of the ward soon the wizards are putting up a good fight but it is pushing them back and there are those who are known to you who will die if you dawdle any longer swear on your life and magic here and know and you will be able to help."
"I Harry James Potter swear on my life and magic that I will be the hand of the ancients in the galaxy so long as those actions will be to the common good" he said clearly and he felt the magic really take hold on him "this place is really close to the weave. Magic is very strong here. Thank god Tom Riddle never found this place"
Lily stepped forward resting a finger on her sons' forehead "I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake from this. Dream of a life together with Samantha and the adventures you will have. Don't come back for a very long time I want to see you live. Live for your friends, for Samantha and live because you want to!"
