The events of this fanfic continue directly off of the final moments of Season 1 of the Isekai Quartet anime.
Chapter 1: New Arrivals
At the outskirts of the kingdom of Melromarc, Naofumi and his teammates, Raphtalia and Filo, are battling monsters to improve their abilities. Most of the monsters they battled they were fairly familiar with as they've battled multitudes of them before.
As they fought, one particular monster caught their attention: a new creature called a Dimensional Screech. It appeared like a large bird with multicolored feathers which seemed to change in color depending on how they looked at it. Intrigued by this new creature, Naofumi and the party did what they would usually do and attacked the creature.
"Raphtalia, Filo, finish this thing." At his call, the two of them fought off the creature, which in the end proved to not be too much of a challenge to the high leveled team. After the creature was defeated, Naofumi looked at his menu to check what item the new creature dropped.
What he saw puzzled him. It appeared to be a small red button attached to the box, strange since it didn't seem to be attached to anything. Confused as to what he was looking at, he decided to ask Raphtalia if she knew anything about it. "Raphtalia, any idea what this thing is?" Naofumi showed her the item the creature had dropped.
Looking at it, Raphtalia responded "No, I've never seen anything like it before. Naofumi-sama, why don't we ask the queen back in the kingdom. I would think she or anyone may have some idea what it's use may be."
"Good call, let's head back." Naofumi said to her. It was at this point that Filo started to have a growing interest in the button her two teammates were looking at.
"Master, Onee-chan! What's that?" Filo asked excitedly.
"We don't know yet. We're gonna try asking the queen if she knows anything about-" Before he could finish, Filo jumped towards them, and in the moment, accidentally pushed down on the button the two of them were holding. After doing so, the 3 of them began to shimmer and fade away from the field they were standing in.
When they reappeared, they found themselves in what appeared to be a tile hallway. As their eyes readjusted to the new scenery, Raphtalia turned to Naofumi. "Naofumi-sama. Where are we?"
"I have no idea. Filo, how many times have I told you to not rush into things without thinking first?!"
"Ah. Sorry Master. It just looked so shiny and cool!"
Knowing there wasn't much he could do to change her behavior, Naofumi decided to push it off for now. "Whatever. Filo, you gotta help us figure out where we are and how to get back. Understand?"
"Kay!" At that she started to look around, excited to explore the new area she was in.
Meanwhile, Naofumi decided to do the same. They appeared to be currently occupying a tile hallway. It reminded him of a high school he might have attended back in Japan. When he went to the window, he saw they overlooked a sports blacktop beside a common grass field.
'Are we really in a high school!? Surely we're not back in Japan, are we?' Naofumi thought to himself. As he turned back, he saw a new person down the hall, and he seemed to be approaching them.
The individual's clothing shocked Naofumi. The person in question was a man who appeared to be wearing German attire, with medals of war to add to the persona. His clothing was something Naofumi never thought he'd see outside of his own world, but here this man was, wearing just such an attire.
"Evening sir, and madams. I'm sure you're quite curious as to where you are, and what is going on." The man said acknowledging the new arrivals.
"Yeah, mind shedding some light on our little predicament? Depending on your answer, we may not go along so kindly with what you say." Naofumi said to the stranger who had just approached him. Rerugen, having seen his fair share of hostile people in the past, went on talking to the group without much annoyance from their remark.
"All will be explained in good time. For now all I can tell you is that you've been transported to this school which Mr. Roswaal has arranged. For now please stand outside this door, and he himself will welcome you in shortly."
Raphtalia, still a bit uncomfortable in her new surroundings, approached the newcomer. "Who are you, and who is this Roswaal person you speak of? Naofumi-sama, what do you make of all this?" Before Naofumi could respond, Rerugen opted to explain himself to her, understanding that brand new surroundings would make anyone feel uncomfortable.
"Apologies. My name is Erich Von Rerugen. I manage the student's behavior around here when Mr. Roswaal is away. Mr. Roswaal, on that note, serves as the head teacher here at this university. I act as his assistant. Now please, just wait here for a little bit and I assure you everything will be explained soon enough."
At that explanation, Naofumi and his party decide to go along with Rerugen's instructions for the time being and wait behind the door Rerugen motioned them towards, while keeping an eye on him every step of the way. Normally Naofumi wouldn't be so eager to adhere to the words of someone he just met so easily; however, with no one else around that he could see, he decided against his cautiousness for the time being. He wanted answers, and he wanted them as soon as possible.
From outside the door Naofumi and his party heard some voices.
"Oh one more thing. I nearly forgot to mention something rather important that youuuu'll all love. We will soon be playing host to some new traaasnfer students!
Ainz, Kazuma, Subaru, and Tanya exclaim their surprised reactions. "EHHHH?"
"Come in pleeeease!"
Naofumi opens the door, and immediately he's astonished to see a huge array of people, most shocking to him were the group of abnormal creatures sitting around in desks as if they were normal students.
On entry, Naofumi's party members exclaimed their fear and unease towards seeing the room they just entered as it was inhabited by monsters they had never seen before.
"Master! I see a bunch of monsters towards the back there. Do you want me to attack them?" Filo brought out her claws, ready to attack, though to some of the people in the room it just looked cute.
"Now please. Let's all settle down for a seeeecond here." Roswaal, noticing the newcomers' weariness, interjected to try calming the new students' distress. Naofumi, looking at the eccentric man before him who, to him, seemed delirious, exclaimed back furiously.
"Settle down! Are you crazy?! There are Waves of Destruction creatures sitting right before you, and you want us to just be calm about it?" Naofumi raises his hand to cast a spell but Roswaal interjects.
"I'm not sure what this 'wave of destruction' is but I asuuure you that we are all friends here."
Naofumi takes a second look at the creatures he suspected of being from the waves, and realized they weren't acting rampant like the zombies from the wave usually acted; they were just sitting there like normal students. As strange as it was, he did just come from a fantasy world. Deciding that going on a rampage right here would cause more trouble than good right now, he decides to listen to what Roswaal has to say.
"Fine. Raphtalia, Filo, let's hear what this strange guy has to say, then we can decide whether he's friend or foe." Naofumi says while looking at Roswaal, as well as the class, a look in his eyes that implied distrust. Roswaal, delighted that Naofumi and his party members had gained an understanding of the arrangements, went on with his welcoming speech.
"Wooonderful! Now class, these people here are our new transfer students. Would you kindly introduce yourselves to us, that way we can alllll become friends that much fasterrrr."
Deciding to go along with what this jester was letting on for now, Naofumi stepped forward to introduce himself to the classroom.
"Fine then. My name is Naofumi Iwatani, I'm 20 years old and used to be a student in college." Despite acting calm, internally he was still uncomfortable with his surroundings. Raphtalia stepped forward next.
"My name is Raphtalia. It's nice to meet all of you." After introducing herself she makes a light bow acknowledging her respect for her future fellow classmates. Filo then jumped in after Raphatalia stepped back.
"Filo's name is Filo!" Filo said, addressing herself in the third person. Naofumi couldn't help but let out a sigh, seeing how she still hasn't changed a bit since they started out together.
'How... quaint.' Demiurge thought, steepling his fingers. Regarding the figures in front of him, his brilliant mind was already factoring them into his next plans. Whether they would be a cog or a stick would be based on their future actions. Taking point for his fellow Floor Guardians and his Lord, Demiurge stood up. "I am Demiurge, Guardian of the 7th Floor of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. It is my... fondest hope that you will prove to be willing assets to Lord Ainz."
Raphtalia, though a bit confused by the demon's proclamation, stepped forward to politely address him.
"Though I'm not so sure what this Nazarick place you speak of is, we will be sure to make our involvement with all of you welcoming." She said, acknowledging Demiurge.
'As the primary wife of Lord Ainz, I can't stand the existence of these lesser beings.' Albedo thought. For someone created to be useful to the Forty-One Supreme Beings, there was no greater joy than serving Lord Ainz. 'Now that two more women have entered the scene, I must protect Lord Ainz from their unruly existences!' But knowing Demiurge and Lord Ainz, she knew they must have already concocted a plan for these new students. Albedo grinned at the thought of what might happen to them.
Kazuma looked at the newcomers who had just entered the class. He began to formulate quick notes about them in his head. 'Let's see...we have a guy who honestly looks like some sort of villain. Where does he get his armor?' Kazuma internally asked himself. 'A kid named Filo, and…' He glanced over at Raphtalia. 'A...is that a racoon girl? Man, I wish I had a half human half animal companion! At least she seems nice! But, what's she doing with that Naofumi guy?' He thought to himself.
Sighing, Kazuma got up from his chair to introduce himself. He cleared his throat. This was his chance to appeal to the new students and show them how cool he was. A chance to make a first impression! He had to do this right... "Hi, my name's Kazuma." And with that, he sat down in his chair. It seems he wanted to get his introduction out of the way instead of caring about first impressions.
'Heh, all these undead and mortals are so simple.' Aqua thought to herself. 'I'll show them how a goddess introduces herself!' Aqua stood up and proudly walked to the front of the class, clearing her throat to draw everyone's attention. "Ahem! I am the goddess Aqua, a powerful water goddess who blesses her party in this bizarre world! Don't get in my way, undead, or I will drown you with my magic! In fact, I should do it right now. Kazuma, can I smite them?" She looks at Kazuma earnestly.
Kazuma simply groans and places his head in his hands. "No, Aqua. For the umpteenth time, you may not drown then with your magic! We've been over this!"
Aqua pouts and reluctantly goes back to her seat. Mumbling under her breath "I'll get those stupid undead..." After a short pause, she says, "So... who's next?"
At Aqua's statement, the school bell rang, indicating the end of the school day. Being so, Rerugen spoke up to give his announcement of dismissal.
"Well then, it's been a long day for all of us. Class will continue tomorrow as always, so the lot of you had better get your sleep for tomorrow's studies. Don't be late! That includes you Mr. Iwatani."
"Yeah, whatever." Naofumi responds, not wanting to cause any issues with the lieutenant colonel right off the bat. After Rerugen made his announcement, everyone in the room started to file out, heading back to their dorms.
After everything that had happened that day, with the battle with the teachers and the Destroyer, then being introduced to new classmates, everyone had had enough for the day. However, some students had other plans.
Kazuma walked out of class. "This Naofumi guy must be from another world, just like most of us. But...how did he get here? And for real, what's up with his get up?!" He thought to himself. He decided to go over and find out. "Hey. Your name's Naofumi, right?" Kazuma asked, not really paying attention to when he introduced himself.
"Hm? Yeah. You're Kazuma right? The one who shut up that Aqua person next to you." Naofumi recognized him from before, as he had introduced himself to them only a minute ago.
"Yeah. That's Aqua. You should just ignore everything she says. Trust me, it'll save you the hours of raging headaches." Kazuma noted, rubbing the back of his head. "Just out of curiosity, with a name like Naofumi, it's safe to assume that the world you were in before this one wasn't your original world, right?"
"How did you-" Naofumi was at a loss for words. He had never expected anyone outside Melromarc to know that about him, let alone someone who had just met him. Though now that he thought about it, the name Kazuma did seem like it was Japanese of origin. Could he have been in the same spot he was, Naofumi thought.
"Judging by your loss for words, I guess you are." Kazuma said, nodding. He closed his eyes. "Now, the next question bears the most importance..." He dramatically shifted his gaze toward Naofumi. "Were you summoned or reincarnated?"
"Huh?" 'So reincarnation exists does it?' Naofumi thought. 'I've read and seen that sort of thing happening to teenagers before in manga and anime, though never really believed it to actually exist. Though I guess with everything that's happened, it shouldn't come to much surprise that reincarnation would exist if magic and summoning do too.'
"I guess there's no point hiding it. I was summoned, along with a bunch of idiots the people from my last world called heroes. Honestly they couldn't be more incompetent. You saying you're familiar with the practice?"
"Yeah, I was reincarnated after..." Kazuma began to say, but then stopped. He didn't want to tell Naofumi how he was brought to the world with Aqua: Death by shock and soiling himself. He figured it's best to not speak of it. "Actually, that isn't important." He added. "By the way, you were summoned with incompetent heroes?"
Naofumi thought, 'So this guy really is in a similar spot as me. Got to wonder how many other people that's happened to. This guy doesn't seem to be too happy about it though. When I first got transported I'd been super excited to get a new life, can't really understand why this guy... hold on, could he have gotten a bad draw too?'
"Yeah, they're either extremely cocky, full of themselves, or because there's new types of people there wanna see how successful they can be at getting others in bed with them." Naofumi told Kazuma, the guy who, based on what he told him, appeared to have been brought in from another world too.
'Why'd he cut himself off before, though? Could the details of his transference have been something he wasn't proud of? Whatever, it's no importance to me. I won't bother asking.'
"Despite being sent to another world, you don't seem to be all that excited about being here."
"You had to be lumped in with someone incredibly full of themselves too?" Kazuma asked. Could it be...that this guy would understand the constant pain, the never ending torture of having to tolerate such annoying people 24/7? "And no, I wouldn't say I'm all too thrilled. You see, all three of my party members came with me, and time and time again, I have to be the only one with a working brain cell!" Kazuma placed his hands on his head. "Now I gotta keep Aqua from getting into fights with a freaking Skeleton King! That's gonna fall back onto me!" Now he was just ranting.
As they were walking out of class and into the halls, Yunyun was just around the corner. She could hear Kazuma's voice, and one she didn't recognize, 'He's probably making new friends. Maybe I can... ah! I can't get distracted, I must find my rival... or my teacher, he seems to be gone today...' she thought to herself.
As Naofumi and Kazuma came around the corner, they saw Yunyun. She didn't expect them to be there so fast, and she blushed as she spoke. "Oh, h-hi Kazuma! Have you seen Megumin? My teacher..." She paused for a second. 'It would be pretty embarrassing if they knew he didn't show up...' she said internally.
"...Sent me to find some classroom supplies, so I'm looking for some here. Anyway, I want to challenge Megumin to a duel! School is so difficult and boring sometimes, I want to get back to the action!" Her eyes lit up at the thought of fighting Megumin again, though she'd probably lose again. Quickly, she noticed Naofumi. "Oh! Who are you? A-are you two... friends?" She looked at each of them with anticipation.
"And Aqua cries so damn-" Kazuma was in the middle of shouting his rant when Yunyun walked over to him. "Oh, hey Yunyun." Kazuma said, going back to talking in his regular voice. "Megumin's out sick."
Megumin had never been sick when she was learning magic with Yunyun at school. 'Hm, it must be this strange world!' Yunyun thought to herself.' She then turned to Naofumi, "Hello there, I am called Yunyun, a powerful arch wizard and Kazuma's friend! What's your name?"
Kazuma's ranting had begun to annoy Naofumi, and so he turned his attention to the girl who had approached him. At first glance Naofumi noticed she was pretty cute, even having a bit of beauty to her appearance. To him she seemed to be innocent enough, and so he introduced himself to her. At this point it had started to become a chore for him, as he's had to introduce himself for the third time now in the short span of 20 minutes.
"My name's Naofumi. My friends and I had just been transported to this school not long ago. And it seems we'll be spending some time here." Naofumi explained to her. He then paused for a second, recalling what Yunyun had . She'd mentioned she was looking for Megumin, and during Kazuma's ranting, he thought he'd heard him mention that name a couple times. "Kazuma, didn't you say Megumin was one of your teammates? You know this girl too?"
"Oh, this is Yunyun. She's a childhood friend of Megumin who comes with us on adventures from time to time." Kazuma explained.
Yunyun was immediately happy that they didn't tease her. "T-thank you for not laughing at my name, usually that's the first thing people do. Next time we eat something here, I'll be sure to pay for you both!" she exclaimed. Then Yunyun looked at the clock near the wall. "Ah! I have to go look for my teacher, it was nice seeing you guys". She waved goodbye and left.
"See ya." Kazuma waved and watched her go. He turned to Naofumi. "Yeah, she's super lonely beyond any comprehensible belief. It's actually sad. But hey, free food means I don't gotta pay for it!"
"Uh, yeah." Naofumi said to him. 'Wait, she's lonely? From what I saw she was pretty cute. I'd kinda expect at least a few guys might want to try dating a girl like her. If someone like Motoyasu saw her... Ugh, I'd rather not think about it.' Naofumi thought to himself. At the mention of food and of loneliness, he got reminded of Rishia when he first saw her with Istuki's party. She'd been treated like a slave, worse actually since Raphtalia was his slave.
Thinking back to that, he did kinda hope Yunyun might meet someone. It didn't matter to him too much so he wasn't gonna concern himself with her. Remembering that he was expected to get rest for the night, and not wanting to have to trouble himself with Rerugen, Naofumi decided this might be a good of a time as any to go check out his dorm. "Hey, mind telling me where the dorms are located?" Naofumi asked him.
"Sure sure, they're just down the stairs and to the left. I gotta go find the rest of my party. God knows what they've messed up without me watching them. Peace."
"Yeah... peace." Understanding the vernacular, Naofumi returned Kazuma's word of farewell with a raise of his hand as he walked off to meet with his compatriots at his new dorm room.
'Gee what a day. In another world again, this makes the third I've been in now! Last one I was in was bad enough. Hopefully this one won't give me too much trouble. That Kazuma guy was alright I guess. He kept rambling on about his adventures though. Can't really stand when people just keep talking over and over, though I guess I can't blame him that much.'
'From what he said it seems he's had it almost as bad as me. That Aqua person he spoke about sounds like a pain to be around. Seemed he had his own version of Bitch too, just switch out crazy psychopath with useless weight.' Naofumi thought as he made his way out of the building.
'I'd better get back now. If I don't Raphtalia might scorn me for being away too long.' He followed the directions Kazuma gave him and made his way out to the dorm building he saw next to the main building.
Off to the side, a small and strange yellow cat stared at the hero as he walked. "Nyannnnn..." it said, making the strangely human gesture of rubbing its chin with a paw. It ran off just as the hero went to inspect the noise.
As he walked towards his dorm room, Naofumi noticed the skeleton creature, Ainz Ooal Gown, off to the side with a few of his subordinates. He seemed to be speaking with that blonde girl he saw in the classroom before.
'That's a weird sight.' Naofumi thought as he saw the two of them chatting as if they were old friends. Naofumi walked over to the group, as he had something important he needed to say to Ainz. "Hey, skeleton guy, I need to speak to you." He called out, not caring much that the others around Ainz were watching him.
Demiurge stiffened, as did all the rest of the Floor Guardians surrounding Ainz. His gaze flicked over Naofumi, recognizing him from earlier in the school day. "Such insolence." Demiurge reprimanded, "Lord Ainz's time is more important than any troubles you'd be having. You will wait!"
Ainz switched his gaze from Tanya to the new student in school. 'Naofumi? What does he want?' Ainz thought. "You are that new student from school, correct? Why have you interrupted me, Naofumi Iwatani?"
Albedo then positioned herself next to Ainz. She seemed to almost cling on to the Skeletal Overlord. "You'd best be warned, insolent human. Do not speak to Lord Ainz in such a manner, as I Albedo, Captain of the Floor Guardians of Nazarick, will ensure your untimely doom. And as a reminder, keep your filthy animals away from my Lord Ainz." Albedo had a wicked smile upon her face that seemed to even make the 'bitch princess' pale in comparison.
Naofumi glared at the demons that stood before Ainz, prepared to battle if need be. He wasn't gonna lie, they did seem powerful. Based on his knowledge of gaming, he knew that the more sophisticated looking a creature appeared, the more sinister they really were. Keeping his calm, he confronted Ainz with confidence. "I'd like to discuss what you and you're compatriots are and what you're doing here. You guys seem like the type of folk who'd be running rampant destroying some town, not sitting around a classroom." Naofumi said to the group in front of him, unperturbed by the threats of the two who stood in front of him.
Ainz moved his body to face Naofumi. 'So, this Naofumi person thinks I'm hostile too. The same thing happened with Aqua, and to this day she still doesn't trust me. Hopefully this person won't be so persistent about it.' "Stand down my guardians, I shall hear what he has to say. Now, what kind of folk would do that in your realm?"
'My realm?' Naofumi thought. 'Are they saying where they're from, their kind isn't feared? I know other worlds and impressions exist, but I couldn't imagine a world where demons and skeletons weren't feared by the people. Am I wrong? Well, considering how they seem civilized and aren't going around killing people, I suppose maybe they're not too malicious. Still, they seem powerful, so there's no telling that they won't attack at some point.'
"I'm referring to the folk that look a lot like you who go around attacking people. You saying people don't fear you where you're from?" Naofumi asked Ainz. This whole matter confused the hell out of him.
A shudder. Strange. She hadn't felt that in a while... Nervousness? No. Unease? Maybe. 'At least I'm not in the front lines, enough to scare anyone.' Compared to when one is young, school is a different beast when you are older... Or at least, older in the mind. In the body of girl? Bit more different. As she watched the conversation, Tanya studied the man holding the shield, The Shield Hero... An interesting title... Most likely from another world like the rest of them were... It was safe to assume that at least... And it seemed to be that he also got "Isekai'ed" into another world, through death or other means, where magic exists... And monsters.
While in many regards undead beings known to wield magic would be a cause for concern, Tayna had known Aniz for a while... He and his subordinates may seem scary... But Ainz is a human underneath. Was it her place to speak for him? Or should she just let him speak? He knew his way with words, yet even then... It might be a good way to get to know this man, probe him for information that could be interesting or even useful for other means. "Let's see his true colors."
"Excuse me, but I would like to say that there is a form of magic here that prevents any acts of violence from occurring while in the vicinity of this school. It is not my place or anyone else's to ask about what they do back in their world, but for the time being... While I understand that in your world the undead may be a threat, here: They can not cause harm to the living." She spoke calmly. No use starting a fight... It would be pointless and a bad way to meet a possible new ally.
"That so?" Naofumi said in response. He then looked down to his shield. 'Guess that means I won't have to worry Raphtalia or Filo should my Shield of Wrath need come into play while we're here.' Naofumi thought, thinking back to all the times that shield of his caused him to go crazy with anger. 'I guess considering how this is meant to be a school environment the teachers would want to take some precautions to prevent the students from fighting with one another. I might have done the same.'
"Yeah I guess that makes sense. sigh" Naofumi said. "So I'm guessing you were all sent here by that Ros guy too? I'd kinda understand how some of you might get caught up in that kind of thing, but you," He looked at Ainz, "I'd kinda expect someone like you would be able to avoid such a calamity." Considering his appearance and subordinates, Naofumi figured he was some kind of super powered being. 'Was he really outdone by a guy dressed like a clown?' Naofumi thought.
Ainz recalled the events that led him to be transported to this world. He looked between Naofumi and Tanya talking. "Yes, it seems that his magical power was stronger than mine. Not actually, I just happened to sit on the button, transporting me here." Ainz was rather ashamed of the way he ended up here, and continued to hide the truth from his subordinates to avoid them thinking of him differently from how they did now. He certainly wasn't going to reveal the truth to Tanya or Naofumi.
"He managed to slip a button where I wasn't suspecting and I accidentally hit it." Ainz looked to Naofumi and Tanya "And how did you two get here?"
Naofumi put his hand behind his head like he was a bit ashamed of the circumstances. "I was fighting off monsters when one of them dropped a button I'd never seen before. While I was looking at it my companion, Filo, jumped on the button and one thing led to another, we ended up here with you guys." He looked towards everyone there with him. Expecting the blonde girl to speak next, Naofumi looked down towards her, curious to know about her circumstances.
"Guess we are sharing stories now." From an objective standpoint, there was no point in holding back information, they were all in the same boat, all brought here from another world. Tanya thought back, she was doing a test for a new computation Jewel... "Before I was here, I was helping one of our scientists test some new gear, some errors occurred, namely having two buttons to push when he said there would be only one." She would leave out this scientist's behaviour, the less said the better. Damned Being X "So, to make sure I got it right, I pressed both the buttons... One of which brought me and my Company here."
Ainz, wanting to go home by that point, spoke up next. "It has been a long day, so if that is all, I bid you all a good evening." Ainz looked to the side. "Gate." a large purple doorway appeared in front of him. "Guardians, unless you have something to do here, come." Ainz stepped through the doorway. Cocytus approached the doorway. "We shall see you tomorrow," he said to Naofumi and Tanya. He then stepped through. "Bye bye " Aura said stepping through. Mare then approaches the doorway "It was nice meeting you Naofumi, we shall see you again tomorrow," he stepped through. The other guardians then stepped through following Ainz.
"!", Naofumi exclaimed a bit of surprise at the sudden appearance and disappearance of the gate. While he's done it plenty of times before with his own shield, it still surprised him to see it open so suddenly, not to mention the size and ominous coloration of it. After seeing Ainz's group disappear, he turned to Tanya one last time, before turning towards his dorm to meet up with his teammates.
Tanya felt content with how this went, and gave Nafumi's reaction to Ainz's gate... Anything that goes on here shouldn't shock him too much. Not to sound too impersonal, but he is just another subject here, like the rest of us... In the long run, we have no idea what will happen next. At least in a battle you can predict the enemy's next move based on troop movement...
Nonetheless, there's no use trying to overthink it, they are all here and they will have to deal with the cards given. As Tanya watched Naofumi walk away, she felt... Happy. No fights, no wars... In a place of learning. Now the question was how long would it last? "Hopefully it would last long enough, I have yet to try all the chocolates at that one shop."
