He blinked his dark brown eyes open with a painful moan. Before looking around to see he was in a unfamiliar cave.

"Good, you're up."

Jesús looked towards the cave entrance to see Darius standing there. "How long have I been out?"

The dull beige lion shrugged. "A few weeks the most."

Jesús' eyes widened as he began to stand ignoring the pain shooting through his body. "I have to get back. Now."

Before Darius could protest, the reddish-brown lion walked out of the cave.

In the Pridelands

Sherise sat near the edge of priderock. A loving smile stretched across her elegant face as she watched Asier and a creamy brown teen lioness splash one another in the watering hole nearby.

The friends boarding had big smiles that reached their eyes as their contagious laughter went into the air.

"Beautiful? Isn't it?"

Sherise scrunched up her features into a frown. Before turning her purple eyes to her creamy brown cousin and sister-in-law. "Excuse me?"

Felisa looked at her daughter and Asier a moment longer before turning to the queen-in-command. "They're happy. The pride where Athena was born, she never really had friends. It's nice that she has one now."

Sherise didn't know what to say so she returned her attention to the friends in the the watering hole.

"I actually been meaning to talk to you. About Athena's future."

The heavily pregnant dark brown lioness' eyes widened before she snapped her attention back to Felisa with a snarl. "Now you've crossed the line. You have been avoiding everyone since you got here. Now you see a way to get your daughter to become royalty you want to talk. Well I have bad news! Even though Askari abdicated, neither the twins or Asier will be king!"

Felisa was stunned before she shook her head. "I'm sorry if I came across like I'm chasing the throne for my daughter but I know she has feelings for your son."

Sherise stared at the bit older female in shock. "What,"

Felisa sighed, there were a hint of tears in her blue eyes. "After my mate and I had Athena, we were going to try for another but Keres attacked our home and murdered him. In front of my daughter's eyes."

Sherise went to say something when her attention went to something approaching in the distance.

As it got closer, Sherise's eyes widened as it turned out to be her lost mate.

"Jesús!" Sherise cried out happily before rushing down the slope.

Jesús saw his mate and ran faster. To be pounced on, causing him to land on his back with his dark brown pelted mate nuzzling into his black mane while purring loudly.

The reddish-brown lion smiled before wrapping a paw around the younger lioness and brought her closer. Then he rubbed his head against hers.

Sherise sighed in content before closing her eyes. "I knew you'd return to me."

Jesús purred while nuzzling the dark brown lioness. "Always,"

A few weeks has passed since the Jesús returned. Since then, Jesús and Kenna had spent the day together. And since they have been close.

To Jesús, he hasn't felt the utmost need to protect her. He couldn't believe Jessica was so cruel. It was good to be close to his daughter, and he was happy she was happy and safe.

At the moment, Jesús was patrolling with Zeus and Dimitri. Spending much needed time with them when Mwezi and Kenna approached. Jesús looked from his sons to his daughter and his brother.

"What's going on? Is everything alright?" He asked them both.

Kenna and the white lion shared a look before looking at the reddish-brown lion. With a deep breath the young gold lioness spoke up. "Father... Mwezi and I have been seeing each other." Kenna started. "We want your blessing to become mates."

Jesús felt his blood freeze before he snapped his dark brown eyes on Mwezi. "You!"

Mwezi gulped. He never been afraid for life like at this moment.

Kenna looked between the males and saw her father fighting with his self before he sighed and lowered his head.

"You two have my blessing. But... Did you ask Kiara first? She is the regent queen."

Kenna smiled gratefully at her father. "Yes. She and mom gave it to us just this morning, but we wanted to ask you as well."

"Well you've got mine as well. Congratulations."

But all smiles fell when a loud roar echoed through the Pridelands.

"Skye!" Kenna cried out before bolting towards priderock.

In the cave by the slope, the tawny-beige lioness laid in the back while Kenna and Tiifu sat by their friend, looking adoringly at the tawny cub in Skye's paws.

"She's gorgeous, Skye." the creamy lioness cooed. "She's definitely going to be a heart breaker."

Sitting besides Kenna was Asier. No one expected it but Asier and Kenna became close. Sherise was grateful that they bonded closely as brother and sister.

The light brown teen was looking at the tawny cub with interest that he couldn't explain.

Like everything that made him who he was now —his love for his mother, his love for his siblings, his loyalty to his pride, his hatred for the ones that destroyed his mother's life and hurt her, his home, his name, his self—disconnected in that second—snip, snip, snip—and floated up beyond his imagining.

Asier was not left drifting. A new string held him where he was. Not one string, but a million. All tying him to one thing—to the very center of the universe. He could see that now—how the universe swirled around this one point. He'd never seen the symmetry of the universe before, but now it was plain. The gravity of the earth no longer tied him to the place where he stood.

It was this cub in Skye's paws that held him here now.

"Asier,"

The light brown teen jerked his head up to look at the concerned glow in his sister's dark brown eyes.

"Are you alright? You look spaced."

"I'm..." he wasn't sure how to respond.

"Do you wish to know her name?" Skye questioned.

Asier looked at the tawny-beige lioness and softly nodded.

Skye looked at her daughter with love that she never thought she would feel. She originally planned on naming the cub, Makosa. Mistake. But after seeing her daughter, everything didn't matter. The tawny cub looked up at her with orange eyes and a cute gummy smile.

Skye smiled before nuzzling her cub. "Ashni."
