A/N: So, am I a cool millennial yet? Thanks to quarantine, I have a TikTok ( bemyguestemily, if you're actually interested in me, ranking songs on albums lol), and I follow a lot of musical theatre content creators. There were 3 girls reenacting "Honey Honey" from Mamma Mia (aka one of my most favorite musicals ever). I sat and told my fiancé: "This is Trucy and Pearl" and then sat and watched the first Mamma Mia movie for the rest of the afternoon.
This is based on that. (PS: Huge ABBA fan)
Enjoy this blurb.

3168 Wabash Ave Apartments
City Terrace, Los Angeles, California
"Daddy? Maya? Are you guys home?" I yell as it echoes throughout the apartment once I open the door. As Pearl walks in behind me, shutting the door, I throw my backpack onto the couch. From there, I take a look around to see if anyone else is here. "Mystic Maya? Are you here?" I hear Pearl from the other side of the apartment, looking around in their bedroom and Daddy's office area.
"Anybody here, Pearl?" I yell from the living room area.
"No, just you and I, I'm guessing," she responds, walking back into the living room. I'm guessing that Daddy's still at work, and Maya maybe went to the food store or something? I don't know.
"Alrighty, I'm gonna get changed and then homework time…could you help me with my Algebra 2?" I ask. Math is my worst subject, and Pearl ended up with an A in Honors Algebra 2 during her freshman year. Lucky duck.
"Yeah, of course!" I hear her yell from the living room, as I walk towards my room. I shut the door, taking in the decor of my newly decorated bedroom as I change out of my uniform. Unfortunately, Garfield HS has a dress code, which makes it impossible for me to bring Mr. Hat with me, or my cape. However, we have no dress code at home (except dress decently around Daddy and Maya), so a pair of black yoga shorts and a blue tank top it is.
To be honest, there are days I don't understand why I'm still in high school. It's obvious that I have no desires to go to college: I already have a career going with performing magic, what's the point of pushing that off for an extra 4 years while I get a degree that I'll never use? I feel the same in regards to high school as well, but Daddy would kill me if I dropped out, especially with a year left after this one.
As I walk back into the living room, I find Pearl already starting on some homework. "What work is it this time? AP Psych, Organic Chem, or English?" I ask. Pearl is in all AP classes this year, committed to going to UCLA for Pre-Law. She graduating in the top 1% of her class, and she more than likely will be awarded being valedictorian. She's a smart cookie, and Daddy and Maya are so proud of her. Me on the other hand? I'm an average student, nowhere near Pearl's level. But I digress.
"None of the above. Studying for my Calc BC AP exam. I had my first part of the AP Psych exam today, tomorrow's Calc. I mean, I know the content and all, just doesn't hurt to study, you know?" She explains. AP students get their exams earlier than the rest of us, and then she gets to do whatever she wants for the rest of the semester once they're done. Lucky her. "But I'll help you first, that matters more!" she concludes with.
"Thanks a bunch, I just don't understand polynomial functions. I have a 74 in this class for a reason, it's too hard!" I explain. My teacher is a total nutcase too, who doesn't go over the material as he should.
"Ah! I have my old math book with notes in it still, it's in Maya's office. Do you want to get it so I can show you an easy way to remember it?" Pearl exclaims, in a cheery manner.
"Oh my god, of course!" I express, jumping up from the couch.
"It's on her bookshelf, next to her desk, the third row from the top. It says 'Algebra 2' on the side, and is green with a silver lizard on it," she yells to me as I walk into Maya's office.
I grab the step-stool that's next to the bookshelf to help me look for it. Maya's bookshelf is like a bookshelf from a library: large, and full of thousands of books. I guess being a Mystic causes you to read into a lot? No clue.
As I search the bookshelf, I find myself glancing over the titles that hold residency there. "You Are the Universe," "Awakening the Mystics," and many other titles pop out at me, as I search for this godforsaken math textbook. At last, I find it and reach to grab it, but accidentally knock into the bookshelf. Random books fall onto the ground, as I grab the book I need.
Well, shoot. I guess I have a mess to clean up.
I climb down from the step-stool, place the textbook onto Maya's desk for a quick second, as I attempt to find the places for these books. A handful of novels were there, that I put away in places I guess that the go? But one book, a purple, suede-covered one, has no title on it. No words on the spine, nothing written on the front or back cover, nothing. How am I supposed to find where this goes?
Attempting to figure this out, I open to the front page to see if there's any information on a title. To my surprise, I find a handwritten title: "Maya Fey, 2022 Diary."
Wait, this is Maya's Diary? WAIT. This is the year she and Daddy…
…Oh my God, I need to show this to Pearl!
"Did you find it?" I hear Pearl yell from the living room. I grab the textbook and the purple journal and bring it with me out of her office. "Yeah, I found it…but I may have found something else that might strike your fancy!" I respond.
I walk back in, waving the diary for Pearl to see.
"What's that?" she questions.
"This is the diary Maya wrote the first year she and Daddy started dating!" I announce, watching Pearl's mouth drop open and eyes bugging out.
"No," she bluntly states, shaking her head. "I know what you're thinking, Trucy. No way are we going to invade Mystic Maya's privacy." She looks back down at her Calculus book.
I sneak my way over to the couch, holding said privacy in my hand. "Come on, Pearl! You don't ever sit and think 'Hm, I wonder how Mystic Maya and Mr. Nick started dating? What she thought and felt about him? What they did?'" I watch as she shakes her head.
"Oh really? Because according to Daddy, you used to get angry when he would talk about any other girl who wasn't Maya and blush at the thought of him and her dating." Boom. Got her.
Pearl sighs, "Yeah, that's was ten years ago, Trucy. I've grown up a lot since then…" I cut her off.
"But Daddy's finally Mystic Maya's 'special someone,' you know," I hit Pearl with her own words as a child.
I watch as her lips create a line, knowing I finally got her. "Fine, you win Trucy. We'll read it one time, and that's it. We put it back where it belongs, and nobody else knows we read it, understood?" She states.
"Of course," I reassure her. "Nobody will know except us."
Pearl puts her Calculus book down. "They started dating in July of 2022. Not sure of the specific date though, you'd have to flip through to find it."
I take her advice, searching through the purple journal to find entries for July until I find July 1st. "Ah, here we go. July. July 1st-3rd talks about her prepping for a 4th of July party in Kurain with Iris…" I state, watching Pearl's eyes roll. I know of Pearl's slight disdain for Iris, she was used in a ploy to have Maya thrown in jail, or killed, not to mention her relationship with Daddy. It's, something we try not to talk about, like ever. "It seems as though Daddy and I were at the 4th of July party though. Weren't you there too, Pearl?" I ask.
"Yeah, but I was busy setting up and on clean-up duty. I was 13, and I barely remember back then," she explains.
"Yeah, I was only 12. I don't remember this party either…" I add. "But regardless:
'July 4th, 2022. What a crazy day! It was the party at the temple for the 4th of July. I invited Nick, since he called the other day, explaining that he and Trucy would be spending the holiday by themselves this year. I introduced Trucy to Pearl, and the two ran off to play in the meditation room. I, on the other hand, had the displeasure of becoming a third-wheel to Iris and Nick… Hearing those two talking again, it kind of, hurts you know? I mean, he's single and can date whoever he wants. But, with my slow, but surely developed feelings for him, my heart's crushing over him and his ex-girlfriend talking again.'"
I see Pearl, clutching her heart. "Maya was upset…" I watch as she looks down at the floor.
"Want me to keep going?" I ask her. She nods. "Alright, I will:
'So, I ran off. I made my way over to the Dusky Bridge to stand and think about things. I stood there, allowing myself to cry it out without anyone being around me until I heard footsteps on the bridge. I heard Nick's voice, yelling over to me. I just waved, but he ran over to me, asking what was wrong. I told him I just was in a mood, dealing with PMS, to make it so he wouldn't worry. However, I'm pretty sure he knew I was lying with that magatama around his neck. He explained to me that I wasn't him right now, as Iris tried flirting with him. He told me he had no interest in her, stating he couldn't ever trust her again. I heard him mumble something under his breath, but I couldn't decipher what he said. We stood together, looking off into the distance, as the fireworks started going off. Next thing I knew, I felt Nick's hand touching mine, attempting to hold it. My eyes jump right to his, as he's already staring at me as if I was the spectacle that was going off beyond the horizon. Then, his hands cup my cheeks, as his lips finally, finally, meet mine. It was…like a tidal wave hit me. A drink of water when you've been walking the desert for days. I kissed him back, finally allowing him to know how I feel. It ended too fast, but there were words to be said and all. He told me he's been wanting to do that for a long time, I told him the same, and it happened again, and again. He pleaded for me to go out with him, and of course, I said yes!'" I end with.
"Aw!" I hear Pearl say, blushing. "How romantic of Mr. Nick to ask him out during fireworks!"
"Yeah, Daddy can be romantic sometimes," I chuckle saying. I scroll the book for more. "Ah, here we go! 'July 22h, 2022. Nick took me out for dinner and a movie. Our third date since he asked me out. Now, I'm not that oblivious to know what a third date means…' What does a third date mean?" I ask Pearl.
"No clue, Trucy…I've never dated before, I wouldn't know" she responds. I haven't either, so…what does a third date mean?
"Let's find out then, huh? 'He took me out to this fancy restaurant downtown, one with romantic ambiance and an expensive wine list, and live music and…it was like he was, playing up to what I hoped would occur at the end of the date. We sipped on some high-end brand wine, ate dinner, and shared a dessert before taking me home to his apartment. He assured me it was just he and I: Trucy was at a sleepover with a friend at school. And as the door shut, his lips were attacked my own, his hands found themselves in my hair, as he led me up against the closest wall. He kept whispering against the grain of my lips, making sure we were on the same page as to how far tonight was going to go. And Goddammit, once his hands went under my dress, I was done for…'" I'm cut off by Pearl.
"Whoa…does Maya go into detail?" Her face turns red, but her smirk says otherwise.
"Um…" I state, skimming the rest of the entry. "No no no no no no…she talks about things I don't need to know! My eyes!" I scream, throwing the diary over to Pearl.
I watch her skim the same paragraph, "'…and the pleasant surprise I was given when my hand went under his boxers, impressive isn't a suitable word for it…' OH MY GOD MAYA!" she squeals.
"No, no, no. I can't unheard that… That's my Father, Pearl!" I grossly choke out.
"Hey, you're the one who wanted to read this so badly, what else did you expect, Trucy?" She retorts.
I mean, she has a point. I did set myself up for this, didn't I? So, I respond with the only thing I can think of. "How good was it, does she say?"
Pearl chuckles, reading it some more: "'He enters me, filling me whole. I've never felt anything this good in my entire life, him pumping in and out of me. I, screaming more profanities and deities than I've ever expected to, into his ear as he whispers some of the dirtiest things I've ever heard into mine. And once his hand found its way between us, I was done for. Milking it until I was done, as he reached his peak as well. Holy shit…the only thing I could say after we collapsed onto each other. I don't know if this will be what it's like every time, but if it is, I'll never need my own hands ever again…' Well, shit!" The first time I've ever heard Pearl curse.
I start chuckling, "Well then, Daddy and Maya! Get it!" I jokingly say. "Any more of this?" I sit back next to her, excited to hear more.
"'August 4, 2022. Nick took me to the beach today, and it took me everything not to get my hands on him in public. I wanted nothing then for him to lay down and let me grind on top of him, with the way he was looking today. I swear, this man eats enough shit for the both of us, yet his six-pack says otherwise. He and I found ourselves making out in the water, to the point where we had to leave the beach to go back to Hazakura Temple to …'" She ends.
"Dot, dot, dot? AAAH!" I squeal.
"September 18, 2022. Nick drove me over to his apartment and snuck me around Trucy into his bathroom. He pulled me into the shower with him, and as he lathered me up with suds on his loofah, his hands went dangerously low, to the point we …"
"DOT DOT DOT!" Pearl and I both yelled, laughing along. "Who knew Daddy and Maya were a bit freaky!" I jokingly whispered.
Just then, we heard the key being put into the lock to our front door. Oh no, Maya's probably here.
"Shit," Pearl whispers, as I started to shove the diary into my backpack, and Pearl and I sit, acting as if she's helping me with my homework.
The door opens, and Maya appears, holding multiple grocery bags. "Oh, hey girls! Didn't expect you to be home yet…" she struggles to speak, as she's trying to get the bags onto the kitchen counter. Pearl and I run over, to help her get them to the kitchen. "Thanks, girls, I appreciate it. What time is it, anyway?" she asks.
"Around four-thirty," Pearl responds to the question. "We've just been working on some homework. And I, studying for my AP exams."
"Well good, at least I can count on you too to get your work done. Dinner around 6 sound good? Nick's at the office until 5 anyway" she states, putting the food away as Pearl and I sit back down on the couch. "Just, don't work yourselves too hard. You guys are young, you're allowed to have fun, you know."
Oh, like you and Daddy? was on the tip of my tongue, but I refrained from saying such. "Well, we have fun when we can" I add.
"So do your father and me, sometimes, Trucy" she states, as she walks into the master bedroom to put something away.
"Oh, we know…" Pearl jokingly says, as she and I smirk and giggle to ourselves.
Maya, peeking her head out the door frame, gives us a weird look, before going back into her bedroom.
Oh, Maya and Daddy can never know about us know this.
Meanwhile, Maya smirks as she places a replacement box of Durex into their nightstand. Little do they know, she thinks to herself. Little do they know.
