The next morning the school was flooded with concerned parents. Only a few were angry at Dumbledore. Many were furious with Fudge. They seemed to calm down when the goblins entered the bank with a witch and wizard. The witch and wizard worked for the bank. They were master warders. The goblins were also master warders. Dumbledore was relieved to see them.
"Good morning." He greeted them.
"Morning. I am Steelsword. With me is Razorwhip, Ironclaw, Lady Boots, and Mr Weasley. We are here to check the wards and update them as well as add new ones." He said.
"Thank you." He said in relief. "Minerva, please show them the warding hub."
"Of course."
She and the group walked out of the Hall. Madam Bones went over to Dumbledore. The look in her eyes would have made Voldemort cry.
"I want to hear the whole story in person." She said.
"Of course." He told her everything.
Did he protect Fudge when he told her what happened? No he did not. He told her exactly what was said and even showed a memory. He explained that he checked on the wards and something seemed off. After his conversation with Fudge he found out the man had any letters sent to the bank redirected to him and then destroyed them.
"I made a trap just in case. I had wanted to send the children home but Fudge used his power as minister to stop me. I'm just glad that no one was hurt."
"I want an auror here at all times." She said.
"I asked and was denied." He reminded her.
"Not this time." Her face book no argument.
"Good." He was pleased with that.
"Lord Malfoy?" Bones looked at him.
"Yes madam Bones?"
"I want the school closed until a thorough search has been done. The kids can do their work from home."
"I agree. What about muggleborns?" They could all see how hard it was to ask that.
"We will find a way."
"Especially since muggleborns are descended from squibs that had been casted out of families due to purebloods having babies with their cousins." Harry said loudly as he read his book.2
"What?" Malfoy hissed.
"I would watch your tone." His grandfather said.
That made the blonde pale. "Right. Sorry." He bowed his head.
"Better. Now my grandson is telling the truth. I did some research. I wanted to know why there were more muggleborns and squibs. I tested muggleborns and so far all of them have had a squib in their family. Tests showed that it took a few generations to correct the problems done due to inbreeding. My guess is that we should test the children and their magical families can help them out." He said.
"That sounds like a good idea to me." Bones said.
Many agreed to that. Malfoy shot a glare at the child only for Allen to catch him and return a glare of his own. Malfoy paled even further and turned away, The children packed and went home. The teachers went with to help explain to the muggles. Each muggleborn did give up some blood so that the test could be done.
A few aurors searched the school and so did a group of unspeakables. They were glad that they did. Quirrell's office had a secret area that was filled with dangerous artifacts and weapons. They also managed to find the Chamber of Secrets and the basilisk. Everyone was shocked when they found the snake.
Luckily the basilisk was hibernating. They used spells to keep it from waking and took it out. She went to a specialized facility to be studied and cared for. They found Salazar Slytherin's lost library and after they dismantled the defenses they took the books to be studied. They then took down the chamber.
Amongst the books they found some things belonging to Tom Riddle, a self proclaimed Slytherin heir. They were going to be studied as well. Another thing that had been found was Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem. Sadly it was a horcrux and was promptly destroyed. An investigation was started on that.
The goblins and the two master warders finished with their tasks. They found that many wards were taken down and one ward had been set up to stop anyone from seeing that the wards had been removed. They then removed that ward and replaced the others as well as added a few.
As predicted some did go to the paper. Fudge wasn't pleased. His popularity plummeted. He was also being investigated. Bones had taken her niece home before going to work and began the investigation. The man knew he was screwed.
His sister was pissed at him. She was Lady Fudge and he put his nephew in harm's way. She took his monthly allowance away. She told him he was so close to being disowned. He was threatened by her husband and was no longer allowed to be near his nephew.
Soon the test results of the blood tests were sent out. Many were shocked. Hermione Granger, an annoying know-it-all. She was one that hated that Harry was top of their year and being taught by the great Dumbledore. She was related to the Malfoys, the Blacks, and the Notts. Sirius agreed to help her out. The girl wasn't pleased but allowed it.
Dean Thomas was related to the Shacklebolts and the Princes. Kingsley Shacklebolt agreed to help him out. Snape did as well since they were related. Harry liked Dean more than Granger.
Soon the students were allowed to return to school. Aurors Newland and Greengrass were tasked to stay at the school and protect the students. The rest of the year was quiet. Gryffindors won the Quidditch cup but Ravenclaws won the house cup. It had been a good year.
