I knew who they were. How could I not when the woman looked like a taller version of myself. She was Charmeine, a seraphim angel, who was known to bring peace.
Standing there next to her was Michael, the fiercest, strongest and fast archangel known to mankind, the man I came to know as my father in the last four years.
That didn't change the fact that they abandoned me as soon as I was born. Nor does it change the fact that they have only just appeared because they need my help.
"Look, we know you are very angry with us, but we never truly abandoned you." Charmeine began to speak deliberately when I didn't react to their words.
I knew I was no longer anywhere near the location I had been, just by the look of the place, and I also knew something big had just happened. I could feel the change in me, something was different.
Something had changed inside me.
"Right, so I should just forget the fact that you had me believe strangers were my family, and that I would just understand that you two basically abandoned me. Tell me, did you think I was going to welcome you with open arms? Especially, after all the shit that man has done to me in the past two years?" I asked, incredulously pointing at the man that stood next to her.
I watched as the beautiful woman's eyes widened as she turned to look at the abashed man standing next to her. "What have you done?" She asked, angrily.
"Oh, he hasn't told you? This man interfered and has been interfering in my life every time I try to settle down. Doesn't seem probable? Ask him what he did to the last three guys I tried to form a relationship with." I gestured to him. "Gone on, father." I growled
"Our Father asked you not to interfere in her life or personal affairs. Have you blatantly ignored all the orders we have been given?" She asked him, carefully.
I wrinkled my nose in disgust before shaking the thought from my mind. Of course, I was a product of inbreeding. I was now a whole 'nother level of freak. The fact just put the cherry on top of this situation.
"I have. This Riley child had bad intentions from the beginning, as did the other two. I cannot allow those human childlings to play with my daughter and allow her to get hurt. I will suffer whatever the consequences are. She is my daughter, and she deserves at least this. She has suffered enough, and I will not allow her to suffer any longer." The man Michael declared.
I scoffed, turning away to roll my eyes towards the ceiling before turning back to look at them.
"Sam and Dean have suffered enough as well, they do not deserve to be pawns in the quarrels between God and Lucifer. Find someone else to use. Or I will do it for you." I promised, taking a step towards him as he took a step towards me
"Lailah, while we understand you are angry with us, you should mind your tone with us, we are still your parents after all." Charmeine firmly said, placing a hand on Michael's chest and pushing him back.
"My parents were Renee Higginbotham and Charles Swan. They raised me, loved and cared for me, and didn't abandon me. So, talk all you want. You two are nothing but the egg and sperm donors." I pointed out, causing them both to wince.
I scoffed as they continued to stare at me astounded at my harsh words.
It was then that I realized where I stood. Cream colored walls, golden crown molding, sandy brown wooden floors. Why had they brought me here?
"Why are we here?" I asked in confusion, as allowed my eyes to flicker around the rooms.
"Safety reasons. Your body has finally chosen to activate its grace, had you been left down there in your unconscious state and a demon tried to attack you, they could have killed you. We brought you here as a means to protect you." The man named Michael, explained.
Protect? After all this time they want to protect me? Oh please, why should I believe them when I didn't know they existed four years ago.
Having them stand here before me, stung more than to lose Charlie and Renee so suddenly. Whether or not they were here or not, they still abandoned me, and that wasn't something I was ever going to forget.
"Oh so, now you want to protect me? What about when I was surrounded by bloodsucking leeches? What about when those same leeches tried to hurt me? Where the fuck were you then?!" I asked, in a harsh tone. "Answer me!" I shouted angrily at him as a sob broke from my lips, as I clenched my fists.
Michael lifted his hand, before dropping to his side, and letting out a sigh.
"We did it to protect you. We were told not to interfere…" Charmeine explained, as her eyes begged and pleaded for me to understand their reasons.
"Right… So, if it was so important for you to protect me, and not interfere, then why have you done so now?" I asked her, willing my pain to go away.
"That's enough, Lailah," I heard someone say as two hands landed on my shoulders.
I turned sharply to see Castiel standing behind me, an apologetic expression on his face.
"Castiel, what are you doing here?" Michael asked, turning to look at Cass.
"A new order has been given. Seraphina needs to get back to the Winchesters. Immediately." Castiel said.
"She will go when she is done speaking to us." Michael replied firmly
"No, she will go now." Castiel argued back pulling me behind him.
"Castiel, what is the meaning of this..?" Charmeine asked, with a furrowed brow.
"New orders were given, she and I are to go back and aid the Winchesters in whatever they need." Castiel explained.
"But she can not leave here, she was in danger…" Charmeine argued.
"She isn't anymore. Her grace has been awakened, she will no longer need protecting but will protect." Castiel replied, taking my hand.
"Castiel, she can not protect anyone besides her other half." Michael argued.
"She has chosen. She chose a helpmate while she was down there. Dean Winchester is no longer allowed to be your vessel." Castiel informed them, as he stared at the pair, before turning to me. "Are you ready to leave?" He asked me.
"More than ready, actually." I muttered, rubbing my face tiredly.
"Let's go." He said, with a nod, before pulling me towards a door I hadn't noticed was there.
"Lailah, we're sorry. Please forgive us." I heard Charmeine say, distraught.
"Forgiveness is not the problem here. I have forgiven you, now that I heard you. What I need is time, and that is something that you two haven't given me." I said before walking out of the door with Castiel following closely behind me.
As we made our way out the door, I felt him grab my hand before whispering to close my eyes. I felt an intense movement, before feeling the air around us shift.
When I opened my eyes we stood in the same place I had been after passing out, not a moment passed before I heard the sound of rushing footsteps rushing in our direction before I was pulled into a tight embrace.
"Oh thank fuck!"
