Chapter – 6
Mace Tyrell
After years and years of planning, his dreams are finally coming to fruition, well the lannister whore and her brother have doomed themselves but Mace Tyrell is a happy man when he entered the capital with his army. Even his mother was surprised with the turn of events which favoured them so.
Mace knew that his plan to seduce Renly using Loras have been a success, now definitely his grandson will rule the seven kingdoms. He met with lord Stark separately along with Renly and the King, together the price negotiated for Margaery's dowry of forgiving a Million gold dragons and a hundred thousand swords if war comes to westeros is pitiful compared to her daughter crowned as Queen. He even negotiated Loras to join the kingsguard to protect Margaery to serve Tyrell interests.
His son Garlan and to his dismay his prickly mother accompanied Margaery and her ladies to Kingslanding. Her mother already tried to negotiate with Lord Stark to marry lady Sansa to his heir Willas since the former crown prince was ousted as a bastard, but Lord Stark asked for time to discuss the match with his wife.
Mace was offered the role of 'Master of Coin', which he eagerly accepted and heard that lord Manderly was offered the role of 'Master of Whispherers'. Mace already heard rumors of the King legitimizing some of his bastards and spoke to Lord Stark, who assured him that any bastards legitimized will be far down the line of succession.
He congratulated with the new lord of Casterly Rock Tyrion Lannister, who has become a pretty good drinking companion of the king. His mother actually offered any one of his neices Ellinor, Alla or Megga to the dwarf who seemed to evade the topic citing the crimes of his siblings and death of his beloved father as reasons.
The Red Keep was bustling with activity for the last month as they awaited the trail of the former Queen and her brother, while he attended his first small council meeting. He found the king and hand in a sour mood while Stannis glared at him from the other end of the table but ignored it.
There is another vacancy on the council for the grandmaester as Pycelle was arrested for treason. His mother tried to appoint his uncle Gormon as grandmaester but the king had asked for a queer master called 'Marwyn the Mage'. He was surprised to find one of the kingsguard ser Blount take a seat as a temporary 'master of whispherers' along with ser Barristan Selmy.
Mace do not know much about copper counting but he invited his uncle Garth to the capital to help him maintain the crown's affairs. The king dropped atleast two stones as he heard that Robert stopped whoring and started fighting in the yard swinging his warhammer again.
"Let us begin" said the hand and for the rest of the hour Mace was amazed by all the treasons Varys and Baelish have committed during these past 15 years. Baelish have cuckholded lord Arryn and killed him, planning to throw the realm into war and marrying Lysa Tully to rule the Vale. The eunuch was found to be a secret Blackfyre agent manipulating the Targaryans with the help of a Pentoshi magistar.
The king and hand were in a bad mood as news came of how Lysa Tully refused to come to the capital and demanded the king release Petyr Baelish threatening to declare independence and war. Lord Yohn Royce left for the vale with orders from the King and hand to apprehend the mad woman and robyn Stone. Harrold Hardying was declared lord paramount of the Eyrie and warden of the west while Yohn Royce is declared as his regent.
Ser Boros looked sad and spoke "your Grace, I bring good and bad news from the East. Ser jorah saved Daenerys Stormborn from the poisoner you have ordered and Khal Drogo vowed to invade Westeros to place his unborn son on the Iron throne". The King smashed his large fist on the table and roared "imbeciles, cowards cannot even kill a girl".
"Your Grace, I have advised you caution in trusting a traitor and slaver such as Mormont" the hand spoke. He saw the king's face become red as he reached for his hammer and gripped it tightly.
"Shut up Ned, I told you the dothraki are a danger. I knew it, they will invade us if we are not careful" shouted the king and sat down seething.
"Your grace, there is also good news Viserys Targaryan was killed by his good brother Khal Drogo in Vaes Dothrak. The male line of the dragons are dead" ser Boros spoke which got nods from the council members.
"Good Riddance but the girl is the main danger from the beginning" the king scowled and roared "What of the ironborn and the Dornish ". The knight looked sheepish and spoke " Dorne was silent as always but i heard a celebratory feast was held in Sunspear after Lord Tywin died".
Lord Stark and Stannis looked taken aback by this news. 'Disgusting Dornish scum' he thought of the Reach's mortal enemies. "The ironborn are silent your Grace and did not respond to our summons to the Capital. I fear Balon Greyjoy is waiting for a conflict to start before crowning himself king again".
"Lord Tyrell increase defences on the coast and Shield Isles , you do the same Ned and ask the dwarf to strengthen his fleet and patrol Fair Isle, ser Boros says that the squids plans to attack the North" the king said earning nods from him and Stark.
"Your Grace, I have got the location of Jon Connington and the Blackfyre pretender. We should send a small force in disguises to capture them and end the Blackfyre line for good" said the whispherer turned kingsguard.
"Excellent send loyal men and skilled knights in disguise to their location and arrange for an attack to capture the boy and connington and bring them to the capital" said the king and ser Boros nodded.
"Stannis patrol the blackwater and look for any suspicious ships entering the bay and Renly shore up defences on the Dornish Marches" the king ordered his brothers.
"Your Grace, ser Loras Tyrell, ser Balon Swann and ser Richard Horpe have took the vows of the Kingsguard and lady Brienne was assigned as a sworn shield to lady Margaery Tyrell" the lord commander spoke.
"Good, the future queen needs to be protected. Lord Mace, I assure you the wedding will be in a week after Cersei and the Kingslayer's trial" the king told him to which he nodded. The quicker the wedding and bedding the better he thought.
Robb Stark
The acting lord of Winterfell had his hands on his head as he read the raven from his father. He was forced to lock theon to his rooms after his mother returned to Winterfell with orders from his father and news that Balon Greyjoy rebelling again and preparing for an invasion of the North. He needed Jon now, his brother had a steadier head and patience than him.
He send ravens to Deepwood Motte, Bear island and asked for more men to be send to defend Moat Cailin. His mother raged and cried after hearing Littlefinger and aunt Lysa's treason and lies. Luckily Bran was a welcome distraction as mother seldom left him alone now much to Bran's annoyance. The wildling girl he caught in the wolfswood started spouting nonsense about White Walkers and the dead rising beyond the wall.
He wrote to the Lord Commander and Jon just to find the state of the wall and verify the rumors about the dead. The news from the capital was pure chaos as mother almost fainted upon hearing about the queen's incest, the spymaster plotting a Targaryan invasion and aunt Lysa cuckholding and poisoning her husband.
They received a raven from mother's uncle Brynden Blackfish from the Vale. He arrested Baelish's men in the Eyrie and captured cousin Robert Stone and aunt Lysa, while escorting them both to the Capital.
There was a decision to be made about betrothal Sansa to Willas Tyrell, who is a cripple irritated him thinking of his sister almost marrying the illborn joffrey waters, who was revealed to be the one that paid the cutthroat to kill Bran. He wondered how Sansa and Arya are faring in the capital in these troubled times.
He received several marriage proposals from the Northern lords including lord Manderly was appointed as 'master of whispherer' and will go to the capital. Once again he wished Theon was at his side, he spoke to him and found him sulking after he told him about his father's plans to crown himself and invade the North.
He was further puzzled by the arrival of the lord Howland Reed's children who offered Bran some respite from mother's coddling. Rickon and Shaggydog were both becoming wilder everyday and he needed Sansa or father to control him. Once again he missed Jon and felt ashamed for letting him go to the wall and failing to stand up to his mother for him. Well atleast he was practicing with live steel everyday with ser Rodrick to improve his skill, he felt it in his bones everyday now, War is coming to the North.
