This is a new story AU Calzona story where Callie is a super successful soccer player and Arizona a physio at a club Callie joins. The story is loosely based on Alex Morgan who has recently joined the football team I support. The story is based in London in current times, so COVID unfortunately exists.
I've zero idea of this story is something people might want to read or not, so I'll post a couple of chapters and see how it goes. This is also my first story where they are not doctors, so again not sure if people might like it. Let me know what you think.
Arizona was in the medical room supply room checking stock when the door burst open and her fellow physio and good friend popped her head around the door.
"There you are. I've been looking all over for you!" Sam said "have you heard the freaking news?" She asked excitedly
"What?" Arizona asked back completely in the dark
"We've just announced the signing of Callie Torres!"
"What?" Arizona said again
"Spurs...we've just signed Torres!"
Arizona stopped what she was doing and looked and her colleague "as in THE Callie Torres"
"Uh huh" Sam smiled back
"Callie Torres, star striker and captain of the Double World Cup winning USA women's soccer team?" Arizona asked in disbelief
"The very one!"
"Shut the front door!" Arizona laughed to her friend realising it was a wind up as she went back to counting the boxes of gel on the shelf "now leave me be or else I'll never get this job finished."
"It's true Ari!" Sam pleaded "check Twitter if you don't believe me" before closing the door and leaving Arizona to get on with her task.
Arizona chuckled to herself. As if that would happen. Callie Torres was one of the greatest female soccer players going, she had two World Cup medals and an Olympic medal and had scored over 100 international goals. She was part of a team of women who were pushing for equality and gender rights in the US and taking on the very top of the game in order to get paid the same as the national men's team. She was an icon. A hero, why on earth would she come and join Tottenham?
Arizona Robbins loved her job as chief physio for Tottenham Hotspur Woman's team. The club was new to the Woman's Super League having won promotion last season. They had a squad of hard working players, but they didn't have the super stars like Man City or Arsenal did.
Arizona ate, slept and drank woman's football and so knew that Torres had been injured for a while and that the American National Women's Soccer League had been suspended due to COVID, but even so.
After five minutes of trying to pretend she didn't believe Sam, curiosity got the better of her and so she pulled out her phone and tapped in the name Callie Torres.
Sure enough the first item was a press statement from the club announcing the deadline day loan signing of Callie Torres from Orlando Pride. Accompanying the press release was a picture of Torres wearing a Spurs shirt.
"Holy fuck!" Arizona muttered as she dropped the clipboard and dashed out the door into the main gym area where Sam and Becky the other member of the physio team were standing around talking looking at something on their phone.
"We've signed Callie fucking Torres!" Arizona screamed in excitement as she burst out laughing.
"I told you!" Sam replied laughing too as she held up the picture on her screen "how hot does she look it that top!"
"Hey you're married" Arizona joked as she joined her team and internally agreed with the comment from her friend. Callie Torres did indeed look hot in the Spurs shirt, her long dark hair pulled back in a ponytail, fists clenched as if celebrating a goal. Arizona couldn't help but notice those big brown eyes looking down the camera. Holy shit. This was really happening. She needed to get her shit together.
"I am indeed married" Sam replied "to a very hot doctor, but I can still acknowledge a hot looking lady and that is one hot looking lady!" She laughed
"Ok focus people." Arizona said keen to change the subject "What do we know? When is she arriving?" Arizona asked Sam
"Tomorrow" Sam replied excitedly
"Tomorrow. Crap. OK and what about her injury, have Orlando sent over her medical records?" Arizona asked keen to get a head start on this.
"Not yet" Becky replied "but we should have them within the next hour"
"OK great. Well once we've got our hands on those we can work out a schedule. Do we know where she is staying?" Arizona asked knowing that some footballers stayed in hotels to start with until they found a house they liked.
"Here." Sam replied "she's staying here as she has to quarantine.".
The woman's team shared facilities with the men's team and the training grounds were state of the art. There were deluxe apartments within the complex that the teams would often stay over the night before a big game. It wasn't unusual for a new signing to stay on the complex, and given the current COVID situation it made sense.
Arizona and the physio team had use of one of the apartments for when they ended up staying late and they were super comfy and it was great having professional nutritionist on site preparing the meals for the players and the staff.
"Okay well I think I'm probably gonna crash here tonight - I wanna work late once we get the records through. From what I understand Torres suffered a stress fracture to the left patella about three months ago. We'll need to see what treatment she's been receiving to date, but I've got an idea of how I'd like to proceed, but I need to do some background reading first"
"Sure thing." Sam knew when Arizona was in this mood she was best left alone. She was a top physio and Spurs had paid her a lot of money to join them from her previous role at Real Madrid.
What time do you want us here tomorrow?" Sam asked
"Say 7am. I'll fill you both in on the plan."
"I still can't believe Callie Torres is a Spurs player" Becky said with a huge smile on her face.
"I know. It's exciting" Arizona replied "but remember guys, everyone gets the same treatment here, no one player is better than the rest. We treat Torres like we treat any player."
"Understood" Sam replied with a serious face before cracking into a big smile "but right now, I'm heading home to tell my wife the exciting news. She is going to be soooo jealous"
Arizona rolled her eyes and let out a little chuckle as she watched Sam and Becky leave for the day as she headed to the physio office to log on and wait for the files.
Two hours later and Arizona was lying on the floor of the apartment, crunching through a bag of carrots reading Callie's file. It was a nasty stress injury and Arizona had noticed that the treatment to date had been very light touch. Torres was a strong athlete and so Arizona was keen to up the physio with the player, she also wanted to try out some new hydro treatment she had read about in a medical journal.
Once she had documented the treatment plan ready to tell the team tomorrow Arizona decided to have a quick bath before bed.
As she climbed into the bath Arizona rubbed the scar on the back of her left leg which sometimes ached to remind her of her former life. She let out a small groan of pleasure as she felt the warm water washed over her body. Reaching for her phone she googled Callie Torres again and read her Wikipedia entry.

When asked about the marriage in an interview with the New York Times, Torres claims that they were both way too young to be married and that she was still discovering herself. Torres and O'Malley remain close friends and Torres is god mother to O'Malley's daughter following his marriage to surgeon Izzy Stephens.
Recently Torres has been linked to fellow Orlando Pride team mate Jess Woods, although neither player have commented on the speculation surrounding their friendship.
