Bennett-Hopkins House

By the time Bonnie was done filling Rudy in on her history with Klaus, their plates were without food and Rudy was glad he asked, although he wasn't happy that he was only hearing about everything now. With Sheila gone, he was left in the dark about a lot of things but no more.

Outside the house, Klaus listened to every single word and noted that Bonnie didn't say anything about Caroline being a vampire. That put a smirk on his face, for in the end, he was going to get what he wanted.

"Do you have a plan?" Greta inquired at the sight of the smirk.

"Of course, I do, love. What do you take me for?" Klaus responded, a moment before Bonnie and Rudy got out of the house. "Have you finished your meal?"

"We have, but there's still dessert." Rudy replied, making Klaus frown. "Don't worry; we will have dessert after we finish this. I hear you're nearly unkillable."

"I am unkillable." Klaus stated.

"I might not know much about magic but I know you're lying. Nature..."

"Are you going to lecture me or make your demand?" Klaus interrupted.

"What do you want, Bonnie?" Rudy asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Klaus interjected. "She wants me dead. Likely by her own hand."

"I do want you to die!" Bonnie confirmed without guilt or hesitation. "Everything that has happened is your fault in some way. You killed Jenna and Elena and..."

"And allowed my sister to kill Elena again and I would let her do it all over again." Klaus completed. "But you can't put all the blame on me, love."

"You can blame yourself for the situation you and your companion are in right now." Rudy said before Bonnie could retort or likely lash out. "I intended to release you after you agreed to my demands but after what I've heard about you and what you said, I won't."

"I didn't say anything." Greta responded. "I just accompanied Klaus."

"Don't act innocent after everything you've done." Bonnie replied.

"Hypocrite. You and your friends aren't innocent either. You killed my brother and father and Maddox." Greta retorted, surprising Rudy.

"Your father wanted me to kill Klaus to rescue you! He's the one who led me to the power I possess to kill Klaus."

"Why would my father lead you to such power when he could have taken it himself?" Greta questioned, anger in her voice although she couldn't fully display it. "I know you stole my family's grimoires after you killed them and hid their bodies in shallow graves to get your hands on all that power.

Don't you dare deny it because I had to use a locator spell to find their bodies and give them the proper burial you denied them. You are not some innocent victim in this, Bonnie."

Having avoided finding out what happened to all the bodies that piled up, Bonnie was hit hard with the revelation of what happened to Jonas and Luka Martin's bodies and how Greta found them.

She was reminded of how she found Sheila and she couldn't help the guilt that washed over her over the deaths she had a hand in.

"You're right. I'm not innocent." Bonnie said. "I'll ask Stefan to return the grimoires Damon took from your house and I'll return the one I took. But I didn't kill Luka or your father. I'm so sorry."

"How are you going to return those grimoires when your father doesn't want to let us go?" Klaus asked. "What use are they even going to be to Greta if you refuse to help her get her magic back?"

"You're used to taking advantage of other people, aren't you?" Rudy made his own inquiry, seeing what Klaus was trying to do. "Guilt trip isn't going to convince me to let you go."

"It was worth a try." Klaus responded. "I suppose I should just relax and let my little brother Kol and my hybrids find us. It isn't going to be hard for them to figure out Bonnie has something to do with our disappearance considering they know that we came here.

Of course that's probably not going to be enough to convince them that we're here but the thing with werewolf hybrids, they're extremely good at tracking scents, especially their alpha's scent.

Fair warning, Bonnie. You don't want Kol running around town without me there to hold his leash. I believe you're aware that all the deaths I've committed were necessary to break the curse and that Rebekah only killed Elena because of Stefan's lies.

You know, vampires and heightened emotions. Kol isn't fond of reason or rules. He's wild and totally unpredictable and enjoys killing for fun. If I never daggered him, history would be filled with unsolved mysteries of massacres all around the world. I don't dagger my siblings for fun."

"Then why did you dagger Elijah?" Bonnie questioned.

"Must I remind you that I was lured here?" Klaus replied. "And Elijah planned to have you kill me the moment I finally became whole again after more than a thousand years? You don't know how it feels to be incomplete, Bonnie!

You don't know how it feels to have your birthright ripped from you a moment after you discover it! You've never felt the pain of feeling and hearing your bones break and repair themselves until you shift into a wolf and all your problems disappear.

You don't know the kind of freedom and peace being a wolf provides you; emotionally, physically and psychologically. And you don't know how it feels to have tasted that feeling only once and have it taken away from you by your own family, and to have your older brother help with that!

And just when you're finally about to regain it, to have that very same brother appear with one of the most powerful witches you have ever met to kill you before you can even taste that freedom and inner peace again, just the pain!

Elijah saved me only because I promised to reunite him with his family; the family he was willing to kill me for on my night of regaining an important part of me, a part I was born with and he helped take away. I daggered him to fulfill my promise to reunite him with his family."

Bonnie, Greta and Rudy got a glimpse of what went on in Klaus' mind and the reasons behind some of his actions with that, and they would be lying if they said they weren't affected even a little by what he revealed and the raw emotion in his voice.

"I'm asking you to find a way to give Greta what was taken from her because I know how she feels, Bonnie. That's all I'm asking of you." Klaus continued. "You're a witch, imagine how she feels.

Do this for her, and my pack and family will never antagonize you, your father and your friends ever again, unless you antagonize us first, of course. I'll even free Stefan from his servitude to me and not punish him for Katerina's escape and lying to me."

Road Trip

Ten PM found Malia and Scott fast asleep at a hotel bedroom they booked for the night and morning. That is until they were woken up by Scott's phone vibrating on the nightstand.

"Stop it, Scott." Malia said groggily. "Or I'll fry it."

"Sorry." Scott responded, just as groggy.

But being an alpha of a large pack like theirs, he knew that he couldn't just turn it off without finding out who was calling and why when people were supposed to be sleeping. So, he blindly reached for it and received the call when he found it.

"Hey, Scott." Bonnie's voice greeted him.

"Bonnie?" Scott asked, after bringing the phone's microphone close to his mouth.

"Yeah." Bonnie replied. "Sorry for waking you up."

"You didn't just wake him." Malia said. "You woke me up too and I hate being woken up. Go to sleep and call tomorrow. Or never."

With that, Malia took the phone from Scott's hand and ended the call before returning it into his hand and went back to sleep.

TRANSITION

Bonnie's Bedroom

A minute after the call was suddenly ended, Bonnie received a text message from Scott apologizing and telling her they'll speak tomorrow. Having heard Malia, Bonnie supposed he didn't want to get on her wrong side and being that it's been some time since she last called, she understood.

The thing was, she couldn't sleep after the talk she had with Rudy after he let Greta and Klaus go.

Rudy was adamant that Bonnie not involve herself with vampires and the supernatural world and he intended to actively make sure she doesn't. He acknowledged that Bonnie was supernatural but she didn't have to take an active part in the supernatural world, especially at her age.

Jonas, Luka and Maddox's deaths didn't speak well in Bonnie's defense nor did her pursuit for power to kill someone at the cost of her own life for her friends.

Klaus let it 'slip' that if it wasn't for Elijah stepping in to finish the job, Bonnie would have died killing him and advised Rudy to keep a closer eye on her if he didn't want her to die for her friends as he and Greta were leaving to show good faith.

For her part, Bonnie didn't make promises on helping Greta regain her magic; she just said that she would think about it, although Klaus seemed confident she would help for some reason.

No, not just for some reason since he subtly hinted that he knew Bonnie didn't tell Rudy about Caroline's vampire status.

She finally called Scott to address what she was told about him and to understand why he took Greta and Stefan's powers to save two people if he was busy conquering cities and leaving a large number of bodies in his conquest.

Having not gotten what she wanted tonight, Bonnie tried another method to find sleep, a simple sleep inducing spell, or else she wasn't going to get any.

TRANSITION

Martin House, Mystic Falls

"Why didn't you ask me to help you find their bodies and to bury them?" Klaus asked Greta as they left her house, having gone there after their release after she asked that they get some of her things and took longer than expected and had a meal.

"You were gone for two days, I used those days to attend to my family duties after I abandoned my brother and father and they died trying to rescue me." Greta replied.

"Why didn't Elijah help you?"

"He was busy cleaning up after you."

That quickly shut up Klaus although he chuckled a bit.

TRANSITION

Klaus' House

"How did it go?" Kol asked the moment Greta and Klaus entered the house. "Do you have your magic back, love?"

"It went as well as expected." Klaus replied, not about to tell Kol how a human got the better of him. "And Greta will get her magic back soon enough. For now, we'll focus on her physical training."

"For now, I'm focusing on taking a warm bath and sleeping." Greta said, and proceeded to go to her room.

"Maybe I should speak with this Bennett witch." Kol suggested. "I'm great with witches."

"Let her be, Kol." Klaus responded. "I've reached an understanding with her father that my family and pack will leave Bonnie, her friends and family be. And that we will not cause any problems in Mystic Falls.

Don't worry about Greta's magic; Bonnie will help her regain it. Or at the very least find the witch who took Greta's magic. I only need you to help me train my hybrids."

"Whatever you say, Nik."

Salvatore House, Mystic Falls, 1903 Prison World

Morning in the prison world found the Heretics; Beau, Lillian "Lily" Salvatore, Mary Louise, Nora Hildegard, Oscar and Valerie Tulle, going about their morning routines. Beau's included marking a new day to keep track of the time they spent in the prison world, something some didn't appreciate.

"Will you ever get tired of doing that, Beau?" Mary asked.

"Perhaps." Beau replied. "But not anytime soon."

"You've been saying that for the last..." Nora commented, but trailed off as she didn't keep track of time, hence she asked. "How long have we been here?"

"One hundred and nine years." Beau answered without much thought, joining everyone at the dining table for tea that contained a teaspoon of blood. "It will be one hundred and ten in a few months."

"I hate Gemini Coven." Oscar said, and truly, he hated it.

"We all hate that coven." Valerie replied.

"I wonder what the world is like after a century." Nora voiced a thought.

"It's better than this." Mary responded, pointing at her cup of tea. "Vampires don't have to ration blood like we have to just to function."

"We don't have any choice, Mary." Lillian said. "If it wasn't for you stopping me from drinking every single drop of blood on our way here, we wouldn't have any blood to speak of or ration. We should consider ourselves lucky."

"Lorenzo and Malcolm are the lucky ones." Oscar replied. "They're out there drinking blood however they please while we're stuck in a magical world we can't even siphon to escape because it might unravel and kill us all."

"I'm certain they're trying their best to free us."

"Then their best hasn't been enough for over a century." Valerie commented, and everyone went silent, having unvoiced doubts about the possibilities of Lorenzo and Malcolm trying to rescue them after the long time they spent in the prison world.

"You're up early for a teenager on school break." Rudy commented as Bonnie walked into the kitchen, finding him making breakfast.

"I kind of have a schedule to keep." She replied. "Morning."

"Good morning. You have a schedule?"

"A training schedule for mornings and afternoons." Bonnie answered. "I..."

She was interrupted by her phone ringing, and a quick check told her Scott was calling.

"I, um, will be back." Bonnie told Rudy, before she answered the call, returning to her bedroom. "Hey, Scott. (Pause) Sorry about waking you last night."

Rudy wondered who this Scott was as she got out of hearing range.

Road Trip

"It's fine." Scott responded, riding shotgun with Malia driving.

"It's not fine." Malia murmured. "It's rude."

"What's up?" Scott asked Bonnie, ignoring Malia's comment.

"Um, I need to ask you some things and I need you to be honest with me." Bonnie replied.

"OK." Scott acknowledged.

"What are you?" She inquired upon reaching her bedroom.

"What do you mean?"

"We both know that I'm a witch, right?" Bonnie asked and Scott confirmed. "Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'm pretty sure you're not a werewolf."

Cora, Malia and Rebekah, who were eavesdropping, heard what Bonnie said.

"If I'm not a werewolf, what am I?" Scott questioned.

"I sensed what you are the day we first met; I'm just figuring it out now." Bonnie said. "You're something that should be impossible but I am a witch and I've met original and non-original vampires, werewolves, other witches and original and non-original vampire-werewolf hybrids."

"OK." Scott replied slowly. "What do you think I am?"

"I know what you are, Scott." Bonnie corrected. "You're a vampire-werewolf-witch tribrid, aren't you?"

"Yes." Scott confirmed, figuring he might as well confirm as it wasn't going to be a secret soon.

Though Bonnie was surprised but glad that Scott answered truthfully, she still had another question before continuing.

"How?" She asked. "A witch can't be a witch and a vampire at the same time."

Rebekah wanted to say; except a Mikaelson. But stopped herself.

"We already know that werewolves can be vampire hybrids and I know that there are hybrids of other supernatural beings, including werewolf-witch hybrids." Scott began. "Klaus was a werewolf before he turned into an original vampire-werewolf hybrid when he died and resurrected and killed for the first time.

Let's just say I died and resurrected and killed for the first time and found myself as a vampire-werewolf-witch tribrid a few months ago."

"So, you were a werewolf-witch hybrid?" Bonnie inquired, surprised.

"I am a vampire-werewolf-witch tribrid, Bonnie." Scott answered, and Bonnie assumed he didn't want to talk about it and so let it go.

"OK." She said, accepting that since Scott confirmed what he was, so she continued to a more important topic. "Is it true that you're a King of New Orleans and that you created a new subspecies of werewolves named 'evolved traditional werewolves'?"

"I, uh, yeah." Scott confirmed again, surprised that the news had reached Mystic Falls, more so Bonnie's circle of friends, so soon. "It's true."

A sinking feeling suddenly hit Bonnie at the confirmation.

"So, you had your pack decimate the vampire community of New Orleans to become King of New Orleans? How does that even work, Scott?! How can someone become a king of a city in the twenty-first century?"

"It..." Scott sighed. "Look, Bonnie. It was either I let Lucien live, and with Vampire Faction, continue hunting, kidnapping and experimenting on supernaturals or my pack and I did something to stop Lucien and rescue everyone he had hunted, kidnapped and experimented on and put a stop to him and his organization.

I-We chose to do the right thing and put a stop to Lucien and his organization so that no one else can be hunted, kidnapped and experimented on again because of him."

"What are you talking about?" Bonnie questioned, confused since she didn't know what Scott was talking about.

"What do you mean?" Scott questioned as well, confused himself by her question, and he wasn't alone, as we're his companions in the car.

"Who is Lucien and what is Vampire Faction?"

"Uh, shouldn't you know that if you know that I'm a King of New Orleans and I created a new subspecies of werewolves, Bonnie?"

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"Then how do you know about everything you asked Scott?" Malia asked a question on everyone's mind.

"Who is that?" Bonnie inquired.

"Malia." Scott replied, placing the call on loudspeaker, and smiled while adding. "My girlfriend."

"Oh."

"How do you know about everything you asked Scott if you don't know about Lucien and the reason we did what we did?" Malia repeated her question, smiling as well.

"I, er, someone told me."

"And conveniently forget to tell you the whole story?" Cora quipped.

"We shouldn't be surprised." Lydia said. "After the humiliation and power loss Vampire Faction suffered, Marcel is probably trying to save face and recruit vampires to fill his ranks by giving them a reason to join him with the idea of reclaiming their lost status and privileges in New Orleans."

Knowing Marcel and what Klaus taught him, Rebekah agreed with Lydia.

Bonnie realized that she wasn't told everything about the situation and it was more than likely intentional and that angered her because they were trying to manipulate her. Other than that, she recognized Lydia's voice.

"Are you the one who took away Greta, Klaus' witch, and Stefan's powers away from them?" She asked, containing her anger for those who caused it.

"Yes." Scott responded.

"What?" Rebekah couldn't help herself, and Bonnie heard her and thought that she heard the voice before but didn't think the person she thought it belonged to would be with Scott and his pack.

"Stefan had two students compelled to go with him and Greta to the woods and Liam saw everything and we rushed to put a stop to their plans." Scott replied. "I couldn't risk them trying what they had planned again later, so I brought them to the same level as those students.

I understand that we sometimes lose control, Bonnie. But..."

"I get it." Bonnie interrupted, not needing anymore explanation. "Here's the thing, though. Stefan had a brother, Damon, who was a vampire too and Tyler bit him. To save Damon, Stefan went to Klaus to ask him for a cure. In exchange, Klaus wanted Stefan to be his little servant.

They made a deal and Stefan agreed to be Klaus' servant and Klaus gave Katherine a vial of his blood, which is the cure for werewolf bites to vampires, to deliver to a dying Damon. Katherine never made it to him and Damon died but the deal was still on.

Stefan was just following Klaus' orders the day you took away their abilities."

"OK."

"Klaus freed Stefan from his servitude to him last night and promised to not cause any problems in Mystic Falls and to leave my friends and family and me alone and to protect me." Bonnie continued. "But he asked me to look for a way to give Greta her magic back."

"So, you want me to give them their powers back." Scott concluded.

"I don't know." Bonnie said. "Klaus spoke about how it felt to have his werewolf side taken away from him and to live as a vampire and not what he was born to be for a thousand years, and asked that I help Greta regain an important part of herself because he knew how it felt to have it taken away.

I'm not a fan of Klaus, but... But what he said got to me and I have felt how it feels to have my magic taken away from me. Greta's father took away my magic for a time and it was horrible to live without it.

I don't know if giving her back her magic is a good idea but I know how Greta is feeling right now and I can sympathize with her."

Silence reigned after that. Rebekah was reminded of the brother Klaus was back when they were mortal at Bonnie's words of how he asked Bonnie to help Greta. There was a time Klaus was full of happiness, light and love even with Mikael's abuse and Esther's neglect.

All that happiness, light and love lost their spark over the years, especially after something happened with Aurora de Martel, but it seemed like there was still a bit of the brother Rebekah once knew, the role model he was to her growing up.

The fact that Klaus actually took the time to speak with Bonnie and share a personal part of himself for someone else's sake which he usually expressed through violence and dark paintings said as much.

Rebekah acknowledged that Kimberly knew what she was doing with Klaus. It appeared the first non-original vampire-werewolf hybrid brought the light inside Klaus that has been dead for centuries, the compassion that Mikael believed to be weakness and sought to snuff out but was actually strength.

Rebekah hoped Kimberly succeeds in bringing out more of the old Nik so that Scott can get to know him and not Klaus. But she knew once Klaus realized that he was softening up, he was likely going to do something stupid to hang on to Klaus the Terrible.

Rebekah just hoped Greta would have her magic back by then and Scott wouldn't be around.

"Anyway, um, Katherine, the Katherine Klaus gave the vial of blood to cure Damon, was Elena's doppelganger and I don't know what happened between you two but I'm pretty sure you killed her the day before your first day at Mystic Falls High." Bonnie revealed, surprising everyone.

"I knew doppelgangers were a thing!" Malia said.

"Katherine." Scott murmured the name, Rebekah just barely held her tongue, comments and corrections.

"So, Scott wasn't imagining things?" Lydia commented. "He really did kill Elena's lookalike."

"Yes. He did everyone a favor, though." Bonnie responded, earning their attention. "Katherine did nothing but cause problems. And as much as it sucks for Stefan that Damon is dead, no one else is really heartbroken about it. I certainly am not.

Although Stefan will never admit it, he got to be happy with Damon not around. He was the happiest I've ever seen him with Elena and only after Rebekah, Klaus' sister, killed her did he get back to being miserable. But he's getting better.

I think a part of him enjoys not having his vampire abilities, just being human in a way. The only downside is the blood thirst and helplessness."

"How did you find out?" Scott asked.

"CCTV footage." Bonnie replied. "And you left Katherine's bracelet on a tree. You obviously don't watch crime shows. And to think you're supposed to be a king of a city."

"Ouch." Cora commented.

"What? Stiles was the one concerned with these things and..." Scott tried to defend himself, having earned his companions' attention, but trailed off as something occurred to him. "If a small town like Mystic Falls has CCTV footage linking me to a murder or at least a disappearance, why haven't cops come knocking at our doors in Beacon Hills?

We have been careless for years now and have been to a lot of crime scenes, but not even the FBI found anything out of the ordinary when they did my background check. Stiles' dad and my dad are awesome and all, but not this awesome."

Silence reigned as everyone took that in and realized that Scott was on to something, something was amiss. The pack had Belasko in the form of eight ravens clean up after them now but before Belasko came into the picture, there was no one covering up for them.

"Maybe Beacon Hills has a hellhound tasked with protecting the secret of its supernatural population." Rebekah suggested, adopting an accent from a time long past to disguise her voice, surprising the others. "They are not called Guardians of the Supernatural for nothing."

"What's a hellhound?" Bonnie inquired, noting Scott seemed to be surrounded by females only this morning.

"A Bearer of Death and Guardian of the Supernatural." Lydia answered with some affection coating her voice.

"That sounds ominous."

"You have no idea."

"Thanks for answering my questions and being honest with me, Scott." Bonnie said.

"You're welcome." Scott replied, and took a second before he addressed something he wondered about. "Hey, um, do you have a coven?"

"No. Why?"

"I got the sense that you have one the day we met and that it doesn't like me."

Bonnie went quiet for a moment, realizing that Scott might have sensed her ancestors' spirits when they briefly touched. Since he has been honest with her, she figured she should return the favor.

"Um, I have a connection with my ancestral coven." Bonnie told Scott.

"You practice Ancestral magic?"

"Traditional and Spirit magic."

"Oh."

"Which magic do you practice?"

"I, uh, I'm dabbling in every kind I can learn at the moment, so, I don't have a specialty or a prominent one."

While the conversation reached its tail end, Rebekah thought about helping Scott find a specialty. All great witches of all time had a specialty and he needed one to start off on the right foot.

"Who is Scott?" Rudy asked upon Bonnie's return to the kitchen.

"A friend." She replied.

"A male friend you wake up at night, the same night you walked out on me because I want what is best for you?" Rudy questioned rather conversationally. "I thought if there is anyone you would wake up to vent to about your caring father, it would be Caroline."

"I didn't call him to vent, dad." Bonnie responded, and thanked Rudy upon having breakfast placed before her. "I just needed to speak with him."

"You just needed to speak with him." Rudy said as. "Well, I would like to meet him. Why don't you invite him over for dinner?"

Bonnie paused for a moment, before she questioned.

"Why?"

"Why not?" Rudy retorted. "It seems like speaking with him helped you calm down. And I would like to be more involved in your life and know the people in it. We only have a year left before you go to college. (Pause) Wow. You've grown, haven't you?

You were a toddler not so long ago and now you're a teenager and a high school senior with a boyfriend."

Bonnie smiled as it dawned on Rudy that she was no longer a little child, until he said that she has a boyfriend and realized he thought Scott was her boyfriend.

"I don't have a boyfriend." She told him. "Scott is just a good friend and he has a girlfriend and lives on the other side of the country."

"Then how do you know him?"

"Scott's school's lacrosse team visited Mystic Falls High a while ago and we met and became friends. He offered a listening ear and I took him up on the offer."

"Well, that's a relief." Rudy replied with an exaggerated sigh of relief accompanied by him removing an imaginary sweat from his forehead, causing Bonnie to giggle and in turn Rudy chuckled.

As Bonnie was leaving for her training a few minutes later, she realized that Scott compared himself to Klaus, giving her the idea that he could be an original vampire tribrid because the only reason Klaus could make vampire-werewolf hybrids was because he was born a werewolf and was turned into an original vampire-werewolf hybrid by magic.

Being that Scott said he found himself as a vampire-werewolf-witch tribrid a few months ago and that he created a new subspecies of werewolves just recently, Bonnie assumed someone turned him probably in the same manner Klaus was.

Who? She didn't know. How and why? She also didn't know. What Bonnie did know was that Scott was a tribrid in the same manner Klaus was a hybrid since both her ancestors and Scott did the comparison.

Whether or not that made Scott a bad guy like Klaus, Bonnie could reason Scott wasn't a bad guy from her interactions with him and the reasons behind what he did in New Orleans and why he took away Greta and Stefan's powers.

But then again, she wasn't sure if she was a good guy herself after what Greta said. Bonnie guessed the subject depended on perspective.
