Nanettez The Idea of a Baby Boomer Generation with Wizards intrigues me I must say since generations are never really talked about with wizards and I think it would be interesting to have a unique generation

And Callum Runchman First Married individuals are exempt and also remember the population of Magical England are sheep where if there is a good enough reason the Population will obey a law no matter how insane it is.

Also my parents have a twenty one year age difference and they have been married for over thirty years so age differences can work in Marriage.

Broken Brother Matthew This story will have emotional scenes in it just not right now.

stylo1 I will be including in this story events from Cannon (Books 1/2/4 and 5) I believe that I can still have my own overall idea for the story but still include some events from Canon

Chapter 38

August 7th 1992

Greengrass Manor

More than a Month had passed since the British Family Act had been signed into law.

The Ministry had come out with more information about the whole process.

They were going to be quite strict about this whole thing.

It had been announced that failure to participate in the process would result in heavy fines for those in the lower class and seizure of half of one's assets for one who was in the upper class.

Fudge had said he did not wish to seize money from people but that it was essential for National Security what they were doing.

Others thought that Fudge and others in the Ministry were hoping to get a lot of money from people.

Fudge did seem to want to make this work though by announcing free Marriage Counseling Sessions available to all in order to make sure that individuals were able to make things work between them.

And that was the thing.

Making things work between individuals.

Everyone Harry knew had mixed emotions over the new law.

Edmunds Aunt, having been engaged for close to a year, had sealed the not on the Thirtieth with her husband.

From what Harry had heard she was quite ecstatic.

Other people had been less than happy.

It was announced that the date that the couple selections would begin would be on September 1st 1993 having been moved back a month.

Ever since then Daphne had been very sad and had spent most of her time in her room.

Unable to get through to her, Harry had been assured by Cyrus and Adeline that they would talk to her.

Harry spent much of his time in Bending Lessons with Master Dao to keep his mind off of the issue.

Both he and Daphne would be married to someone in slightly over two years time.

That terrified him.

Daphne was the only girl he had ever really interacted with for a sustained period of time and the idea of being married to someone else was incomprehensible.

And the thought of her being married to and having another guy's kids made him sick.

Master Dao noticed.

At the end of one of their sessions he looked at Harry.

"You're distracted Harry,"He said.

"What"Harry said startled 'No,No i'm focused"He said "Im pretty sure i was able to make a good Fire Whip today".

"That you were ''Master Dao said "But i can tell something is on your mind isint it".

"Your worried about Daphne arent you".

Harry hesitated thinking of what to say.

Master Dao breathed in.

"Sit,"He said, pulling up a chair.

Harry sat down with his Sensei.

'Harry, 'Master Dao said slowly, "Have you ever thought about marrying Daphne".

Harry gasped looking at Master Dao harder than he had ever before blushing intensely.

"Wh-What do you mean? He asked.

Master Dao sighed "What I mean is that the Selections will not begin until September 1st of Next year and after August 6th both of you will be 16 and able to marry sometime in those three weeks without anyone not the Greengrasses,the Potters or the Ministry needing to know anything about it and you can marry without needing any of their approval".

Harry slowly calmed down and then thought about what Master Dao said.

"I would love to but I dont know if Daphne or her parents would be on board with that idea though"Harry said.

Master Dao chuckled.

"Son do you really not see how Daphne talks about your experiences at Hogwarts "He said "I have never seen someone speak so highly of another before and from what i hear when you are at Hogwarts the two of you are practically attached at the hip everywhere you go,I have no doubt that if you asked her to marry you she would accept".

"And"Master Dao said "Cyrus and Adeline love you two as if you were there own child and the fact that they have allowed you to stay at their home for so long is proof of that and i'm sure that with this new law being put into place the number one person they would want their eldest daughter with his you".

"You really think so, "Harry asked.

"Don't repeat this"Master Dao said "But Cyrus actually approached me about how you would feel marrying Daphne".

"He did, "Harry said, very surprised.

"He did"Master Dao replied "He and Adeline both feel like as someone they know they would trust you in protecting their daughter".

"And they actually said that Daphne was receptive to the idea as well,"Master Dao said.

"Really "Harry asked "So you're doing matchmaking with us".

"Yes, Yes we are"Master Dao said "But you're both fifteen and unlikely to do it yourself since the alternatives to that are very undesirable to all of us".

Harry nodded "Is it ok if I have some time to myself he asked".

Master Dao nodded "Take as long as you need"He said.

Harry got up and left out the door for outside his mind focused on many things,

SCENE CHANGE

A few days later Harry decided he would do it.

Master Dao had given Harry the engagement ring that he had given his wife of twenty seven years to give to Daphne.

Harry was just floored by that.

He then knew he would ask Daphne to marry him.

There was no other person that Harry could imagine himself spending his life with.

So one day after Breakfast he asked Daphne to walk with him to the nearby pond.

They had gone there a few times together but Harry had been there quite a lot recently with Master Dao to practice WaterBending.

He was happy that she accepted his offer.

As they walked in silence Daphne took his hand.

Harry looked at her and she didint say anything, just smiled.

He smiled and soon they had walked down to the lake where they found a tree to lay against.

They both sat together and looked at the pond.

"It's so peaceful, "Daphne murmured.

"It is" Harry said "Reminds me of the times we went down to the creek in Surrey".

Daphne chuckled "How long has that been since we did that for the first time? "She asked.

"Probably eight years now, "Harry replied.

"It seems like so long ago "Daphne said "We're already getting ready for our Fifth Year".

"I know" Harry said "Weve got three more years at school and then the rest of our life ahead of ourselves".

"Yeah"Daphne said "I hope that even if we have to marry other people that we can remain friends".

Harry heard how sad she sounded while saying those words.

He used his Breathing Techniques from Master Dao to focus his mind.

"That doesn't have to be the case "He said "We still have choice"

Daphne turned to him looking puzzled.

"What do you mean? "She asked.

"We can always get married" He said in a casual tone that did not hopefully show his beating heart.

A Second passed and Harry saw Daphne looked at him sharply with wide eyes.

"What-What do you mean? "She asked.

Harry took out the box with the ring from his pocket and presented the ring to Daphne.

"Daphne Greengrass I have known you practically all of my life and there is no one else I would like to spend the rest of my life with".

"Would you do me the honor of marrying me".

Daphne looked at the ring in his hand and looked at Harry, her eyes wide speechless.

He almost thought that he would need to remind her to breathe before she eventually said something.

"Yes,Yes I will marry you Harry"She exclaimed tears pouring down her cheeks as they kissed.

Separating Harry put the ring on Daphne's finger.

"It's beautiful"She said "When did you get it".

"Master Dao gave it to me"Harry said "It's a family heirloom passed down the generations and since he has no kids he decided to give it to me".

Harry was honored that Master Dao was close enough to him to give him something like that.

He felt a rush of warmth for the man who had become like a surrogate father to him

"I love it "Daphne said "What did you have in mind for a wedding".

"Well after August Sixth of next year both of us will be sixteen and able to marry without needing approval from the Potters to do so"Harry said "We can have a wedding sometime between August Sixth and September First".

Daphne nodded "You really want to marry me though "She started to cry a bit more.

Harry kissed her "Hey there "He said "You are a wonderful person Daph and someone that I would love to spend the rest of my life with".

"Really "Daphne said "Me to" She then looked shy "You know that if we get married we would still have to comply with the law".

"I know "Harry said "You would be fine having kids with me in a few years".

Daphne smiled "Harry there would be no one else that I would want to be the father of my children".

The two kissed again before heading back to the house

SCENE CHANGE

Harry and Daphne entered back into the home to applause.

Daphne buried her head in Harrys shoulder as everyone congratulated them.

Then they all sat down and were able to set a wedding date of August Tenth of Nineteen Ninety Three in about a year from now.

Adeline said that she would plan the wedding over the course of the year and that they would go clothes shopping during the Winter Holidays.

Cyrus talked with his friends in the Wizengamnot ensuring that by getting married next year they would not be interfering or getting in trouble with the law.

He said that Senior Undersecretary Umbridge said that as long as they had their first kid by nineteen there would be no problems.

So then it was established that Cyrus and Adeline would work throughout the school year to plan the wedding and they would exchange letters with Harry and Daphne to get their input on certain things.

They then got ready for the next school year.

On Friday the twenty first they went for their school supplies.

This next year was going to be interesting.

They will be sitting their OWL exams at the end of the year.

Transfiguration, Charms, Potions, History of Magic, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy, Divination, Arithmancy and Herbology.

On top of that they would now be taking the new Home Economics Class

They would be having a very packed schedule.

It was going to be interesting.

SCENE CHANGE

When they got on the Hogwarts Express it seemed like the only thing that people wanted to be talking about was the new Family Act.

Meeting up with Edmund,Raymond and Layla Daphne took much pride in showing off their wedding and hearing their congratulations.

Layla was a fourth year student and would not be affected by the law.

Edmund and Raymond would though.

Edmund had been made a Prefect so that was some good news.

This year fifth to seventh year students would be having the same tests and interviews as other people would be having in the Ministry of Magic.

What those would look like was anyones guess though.

As Daphne chatted with Layla more about her wedding, Harry and Edmund played a game of Gobstones during the rest of the Train ride.

SCENE CHANGE

When they sat down to eat in the Great Hall

They saw two new people sitting at the staff table.

One of them was an older man with long black hair and a beard streaked with silver, as well as a great overhanging forehead that shadowed glinting eyes.

He sort of looked like a crab.

The other person was a very short woman with tightly curled graying hair, bulbous eyes and a pouchy face. The woman was wearing a bright pink cardigan sweater, and talking with Professor Flitwick although the charms professor looked as if he wished he could disappear though.

One of them must be the Home Ed Teacher and one of them must be the new Defense Teacher.

They all finished their dinner and Professor Dumbledore rose to address the students.

"Now that we are properly fed and watered, I beg you attention for a few start of term notices before we all head to our waiting beds. First, as always, I must inform you that the Forbidden Forest is exactly that. Forbidden. If you are hoping to try out for your house House Quidditch team, please see your House team captain and find out when try-outs will take place. I expect this season will be most exciting. Our Caretaker, Mr. Filch has asked that I remind you that magic is forbidden in the halls. Finally, I would like to introduce our new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Pius Thicknesse and Delores Umbridge who will be taking up the new post of Home Education Instructor".

Dumbledore then looked at everyone.

It is now getting late, and your beds await. First Years, if you would just follow your prefects, they will see that you make it to your dorms. Goodnight everyone."

At once student rose to head to their dorms

Harry and Daphne grabbed each other's hands and headed back to the Slytherin Common Room.
