Captain Blues: I'm sorry I'm a few days late with this chapter. I had a lot to deal with. My lifelong illness sprang its ugly head so I was out for a while but I'm back and it's time for the biggest change to OFA…Let's get into it!
My Hero Academia: Two Minds, One Body
Chapter Seven
[Takoba Municipal Beach Park (Blue Hour)
POV: Midoriya Izuku]
"After ten months, you have finally done it," Toshinori said as he gazed at the beautiful, clean beach with Izuka at his side. "And with two weeks to spare before the entrance exams to boot. You two are truly overachievers."
Izuku glowed at his teacher's praise and said, "We couldn't have done it without your help, Yagi-sensei."
"I wish Toshi-Might would have let us sleep in after destroying ourselves last night…." Uzuki muttered with a sour expression.
'B-be nice, Uzu-kun,' Izuku chastised.
"Yeah, yeah…." Uzuki yawned out.
"Now, it is time for the award ceremony, young Midoriya!" Toshinori exclaimed before changing into the #1 Hero of Japan, All-Might. "THIS IS SOMETHING I WAS ONCE TOLD: SOMETHING THAT YOU RECEIVE BECAUSE YOU'RE LUCKY AND SOMETHING THAT YOU ARE GIVEN BECAUSE YOU ARE RECOGNIZED ARE DIFFERENT IN ESSENCE!"
All-Might reached up and plucked a strand of his golden hair from his head and held it in his hand.
"Why did he do that?" Uzuki questioned.
"TAKE THAT TO HEART, YOUNG MIRĀ, AND MIDORIYA," All-Might continued. "FOR THIS IS THE POWER THAT YOU EARNED BECAUSE OF YOUR OWN EFFORT!"
All-Might then held out the strand of hair that was gleaming with light to Izuku. "EAT THIS," All-Might commanded. "AND RECEIVE THE POWER OF ONE FOR ALL!"
Izuku blinked.
"I-I'm sorry?" Izuku questioned as he tilted his head with confusion.
"I-Is he serious?" Uzuki questioned as Izuku stared at the strand of gleaming blond hair. Izuku looked at All-Might's serious expression, which caused Uzuki to mutter, "Holy hell, he's serious….He wants us to eat his hair."
The two stood on the beach as the sun began to rise, causing the water to shimmer. "SO…ARE YOU GOING TO EAT IT?" All-Might questioned.
"This is so different from what we imagined," Izuku and Uzuki said in unison with an empty tone, despite only All-Might being able to hear Izuku.
Izuku took the strand of hair and said, "Well….If this the only way, then let's do it," before he took the hair into his mouth and swallowed it.
All-Might sheepishly scratched the back of his neck as he said, "IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER WHAT IT IS, AS LONG AS YOU TAKE IN MY DNA."
"WHAT?!" Uzuki roared
Izuku immediately coughed at the sheepish reveal after swallowing the strand of hair. "You made it seem like t-this was the only way!" Izuku exclaimed before he felt a pang in his chest.
"Um…Izu…." Uzuki began, his voice unsure and pained. "I f-feel weird…."
Izuku tried to reply, but another sharp pang caused his right leg to buckle, sending him on one knee as he clutched at his chest.
"YOUNG MIDORIYA, ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" All-Might questioned.
Glowing vein-like lines that crossed through each other appeared on Izuku's skin in a fiery red color as generates crackling, green energy that resembles lightning bolts streaked around his body in random intervals.
"W-What is this?!" Uzuki exclaimed the fiery red glow of the "veins" on the right side of Izuku's body changed into a radiant light with a rainbow tint while the "veins" on the left side of Izuku's body pulsated with a dark rainbow tint.
"S-Sensei?!" Izuku managed to gasp out with fear as he glanced up at All-Might before the pressure that had been building in his body finally exploded as he let out a blood-curdling scream, unleashing a pillar of energy that rocketed through into the sky.
[Jirō Residence (Sunrise)
POV: Jirō Kyōka]
Sitting on her balcony, with her guitar on her lap and her eyes closed, Jirō Kyōka strummed her acoustic guitar with her right thumb, trying to tune the strings on her guitar to the correct sound.
Her father once told her: Every musician has an hour of the day where their muse awakens.
And every sunrise, Kyōka's muse would wake her up to try to put together a song. Like clockwork, Kyōka would wake up, toss on a pair of torn blue jean shorts, her black "Rock on!" With the blue silhouette of Megaman lifting a guitar in his left hand, and make her way to her balcony, which overlooked the Takoba Beach.
But unfortunately, like clockwork, her muse would collide with the dreaded villain known as "Creative Block." And as Kyōka worked at getting the right tune for her strings, she had a feeling that today would be much the same.
Kyōka opened her eyes when she found the right tune she needed. "Finally," she muttered with a hint of annoyance, but the moment she was about to begin, she heard a scream.
Kyōka's head snapped up and looked around wildly before she noticed two figures on the beach. One of them was All-Might, due to the size and the antenna-like hair.
But Kyōka couldn't make out the person in front of him due to the dueling light show that was going on with his body. Without warning, a pillar of glittering white and black light shot up into the sky.
"Whoa…." Kyōka whispered in awe as she watched the beam of light continued its rise before exploding into glowing particles of black and white energy, which gently fell across the city. Her eyes glanced down back at the beach and saw a silhouette before All-Might.
The figure's entire body was glowing, with the left side glowing bright white and the left side shining black with glowing "veins" crossing around his body with a rainbow tint.
Along with the glowing, rainbow-tinted "Veins," the figure's hair was spiked up, similar to a character from her favorite manga, Dragonball Z. It also glowing a radiant rainbow color.
Kyōka didn't know what to think.
It was like she was staring at a figure made of pure light.
For a moment, Kyōka wished she had put all of her stats into drawing instead of music so she could draw this being of light. Unfortunately, the show ended when the glow dimmed until it was gone entirely, and the person fell to the ground.
Kyōka watched as All-Might reached down and picked up the body and leaped away deeper into the city, leaving the rocker sitting on her balcony, her creator's block returning once again.
But this time, she didn't mind it as much.
[Midoriya Residence (Morning)
POV: Yagi Toshinori]
"Sit him here," Inko gently commanded as Toshinori nodded and sat the unconscious Midoriya on the bed. "What happened?" Inko questioned once Midoriya's body was situated in the bed.
"I don't know," Toshinori admitted with a frown on his face. "I did exactly what my sensei had done with me. I willingly gave him One for All the same way she gave it to me. Everything should have gone to plan."
But it hadn't.
What should have happened:
Midoriya ingests the hair.
Midoriya gets One for All.
They train for the next two weeks before his exam.
Simple and Clean.
Instead, what occurred was:
Midoriya ingests the hair.
Triggers 100% of One for All.
Changes into a form he has never seen.
Then fall unconscious.
Toshinori narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms as he observed the youth. Had this occurred with other OFA users with Quirks? No, he questioned the vestiges before Midoriya took them, and this wasn't something that happened with them.
Then what was the cause?
What made Midoriya different compared to the past OFA users and himself?
"My poor boys," Inko whispered as she wiped the sweat off of Young Midoriya's forehead. "I hope they wake up soon."
Toshinori's eyes widened in realization.
"Midoriya's Quirk was the reason for the change," Toshinori whispered, prompting Inko to look at him with confusion.
"What do you mean, Toshinori-san?" Inko questioned.
"Midoriya's Quirk is the key to what happened to him," Toshinori stated. "Remember when we first met and I explained how One For All could be passed on?"
Inko nodded.
"In total, there were eight users of One for All, myself included. When it's passed on, the Quirk of the previous user is stored within One For All," Toshinori explained.
"I see," Inko murmured with a frown on her face. "So when Izu-kun took One For All, he gained their abilities?"
Toshinori nodded and said, "And because of One For All's original stockpiling ability, it also enhances the strength of the Quirks that it holds within it. And that is where the problem occurs. Young Midoriya's Quirk: Gemini is essentially two minds or souls sharing one body. One For All isn't equipped to being split between two consciousness like this."
Toshinori paused to see Inko eyes swirling in confusion, and for a moment, he couldn't help but think how adorable Inko looked like this. Then again, Toshinori found Inko cute in every situation since their meeting ten months ago.
"S-So One For All isn't capable of working with Izu-kun because of his Quirk?" Inko asked.
"No, One For All is compatible with any user that has any Quirk. But I believe because of how complex Young Midoriya's Quirk is, One For All may have needed to change how it functions to be compatible for not only Midoriya, but for any future One For All user," Toshinori mused. "But if that's the case, I wonder how it had to adjust itself to him…."
[Unknown Location
POV: Midoriya Izuku]
Izuku slowly opened his eyes and found himself standing in
Where in the world was he?
'Uzu-kun?' Izuku questioned, but he didn't receive an answer. 'Uzu-kun?!' Izuku tried against, his eyes widening in panic before he noticed something in the distance.
There were three glowing figures.
The one on the left was glowing blue with smoke billowing around him.
The one on the right was glowing purple, with the figure's body having vibrating waves flowing from his body.
And the one in the middle was glowing bright white, and they were floating in the air, their cape billowing,
'W-What am I looking at?' Izuku questioned.
The figure in the middle turned around, and Izuku noticed that the figure was a woman with a small mole below her bottom lip, with sharp, intelligent eyes with long eyelashes.
Her hair was straight, kept shoulder-length except for a clump of short bangs hanging above her forehead, which was styled in a half-up-half-down bun.
The women gave him a bright smile and said, "So you're the new holder of One for All….Midoriya Izuku."
[Unknown Location
POV: Mirā Uzuki]
'Izu! Where are you!' Uzuki exclaimed with a growl as he looked around, his eyes darting around him.
This place was familiar to him. It reminded him of the Sea of Souls, with its black, smoky, and swirling atmosphere.
Had he accessed it somehow?
It was then he noticed three glowing figures in the distance.
The figure on the left was a black, sketchy figure with a glowing, pulsating violet aura that held random crackles of electricity around it.
The figure on the right was also a sketchy figure with a glowing blood-red aura that trembled and seemed to split away before rejoining the figure.
The figure in the middle was glowing pink and was already turned to face him, revealing his square jaw, lack of eyebrows, and a very short beard.
"Huh?" The figure said with a confused expression. "I'm meeting you earlier than expected."
Captain Blues: And that is the end of this chapter. So a lot of things have been implied regarding OFA and Gemini. I'm curious to see if anyone could guess what those implications mean. Until the next chapter!
