She wasn't sure how it started. The family - save for Emmett - were hunting. The raven-haired vampire had fed the night before as Bella lay sleeping in his bed, pooled in his black t-shirt. Bella had woken up right as Emmett entered the room, without a shirt (he was quite the messy eater, according to Rosalie). Even with the amount of times she had seen her boyfriend without a shirt, his body never failed to impress her. He laughed at the blood that rose to her cheeks and the tips of her ears.
Her body brushed past, ignoring his boyish charm, and walked towards the bathroom. Knowing he was watching, she swayed her hips slightly more than she normally would. He was definitely watching. Bella quickly brushed her teeth and combed through her hair, not wanting morning breath or knotty hair to taint the mood. Once she was satisfied, she made her way to the kitchen, once again pretending to not notice him. God, was it hard, though.
"Smells great, Esme." The motherly figure smiled, an aroma of eggs and bacon flooding the room.
"Smells like sh-" Emmett cut himself off when he noticed the scold on his mother's face, "sh-eaven." He gave her a sheepish grin, then ruffled Bella's hair.
After Bella had finished her meal, the Cullens announced their departure, claiming they'd be back soon, later that night. The couple waved them off, bidding goodbyes. Immediately after he knew they were a safe distance away, Emmett swept Bella's body off of the barstool and onto the kitchen counter, his lips immediately going for her neck. She knew exactly how it started, actually.
"O-oh. Not on the c-counter, Em. P-people eat here," Bella managed to breathe out.
He smirked, "Oh, I'm about to eat, all right."
And he did. Bella whimpered and screamed his name until it was all she could say. She began to try to push his head away, practically begging him to stop.
"Are you sure you want me to stop?" He questioned, ochre eyes burning holes through her.
She cried out, "No! K-keep going!"
After an hour, she began to see stars and he knew she probably needed a break. He took her limp body in his arms and smirked when her legs shook, still reeling from the intense pleasure. Once she was in his bed once more - really it was hers at this point - he rubbed his fingers down her back. Even through his shirt, she shivered at his cold touch.
"Can't wait for you to never need a break," he whispered.
Bella looked up, doe eyes burning, "Does it, does it bother you that I do?"
He laughed and it shook the bed, "I think it's cute, really. I just can't wait for you to be the insatiable one."
A smile formed on her lips and he kissed her. Then it started again. His kisses trailed down her neck and he was pulling the shirt off.
"Emmett?" His movements stilled and he looked up at her. Her lips were swollen from his kisses and her eyes were still red from the tears she had previously spilled. "I'm ready. I want you to fuck me." His eyes became wide and he kissed her once more.
When she woke up that night, she was in a state of pure bliss. Her hips and shoulders held bruises in the shape of his fingertips, and she loved it. It almost made her sad that he could no longer do that once she was changed. While his headboard hadn't completely broken, like he joked, the wood had splintered in the middle and she could feel where the base of the bed had slightly cracked. She noticed he was no longer in the bed and she got up to find him. As soon as she stood up, she was forced to sit back down by the ache in between her legs. Luckily, Emmett returned and grinned at her state. She was then hyper aware of the face that she wasn't wearing a shirt. Looking down at her exposed chest, she saw the same finger shaped bruises and smiled.
"You like being marked up, Bells?" She gave a shy nod, and he appeared in front of her. "Good, I'm doing this as long as I can." He lazily gestured to the purple marks on her skin.
Once they started, they couldn't stop. Bella lost count of how many rounds they went through, but she was sure he would need a new bed. Her skin was sticky with sweat, and the only comparison she had was to the summer heat in Arizona. This, though, she didn't mind - would never mind.
The next day, after popping a few ibuprofen, Bella suggested a walk. Emmett joked, "You breakin' up with me or somethin'?" She laughed, and he smiled as she threw her head back.
"No, I just like walking." He quirked an eyebrow at this, not believing her. "Fine, I want to...do stuff...outside," Bella whispered, even though it was no use, and the whole house could hear her, though they would never tell her that. The poor girl might die of embarrassment.
So they walked through the trees, attempting to get as far away from the house as possible. Emmett found it hard to keep his hands off of her, not that she minded. After a long time of walking, Emmett suggested they play a game.
"And what game, exactly?" She asked, hands lazily strewn across her chest.
Emmett smiled, "Hide and seek." Before she could ask any questions, he was in a tree. "Go on! I'll find you!"
Bella laughed and rolled her eyes, knowing this was not a fair fight. She trekked on, realising this was the first time she had been alone in the woods since the day Emmett came back for her. She smiled and walked towards a clearing. It was their meadow, she realised. Her and Edward's. The exact place Emmett had seen her for the first time that day. She reached down and bent for a flower. As she stood back up, she gasped, a hand flying to her chest.
"Laurent," she managed to get out. Fear came over her, as much as she tried pushing it down.
"Bella," the way he said her name was much too predatorial for this to be a casual visit.
She avoided his eyes, "How are the Denalis? Irina?" He was closer now and she could smell the blood on him. Looking up she recognized the familiar crimson, the same insanity that James had.
"Boring." He was behind her. She was scared but Emmett's name wouldn't leave her tongue. Where was he? Why wasn't he there? "Victoria sends her regards."
A searing pain tore through her neck. The fire was familiar but burnt nonetheless. She finally let out a scream, it could no longer be contained. Her eyes clenched with the flames that licked at her skin, she convulsed with them. Nothing. She could see nothing, hear nothing. Though, she felt everything. This was worse than Phoenix, than James's bite. This held malice and revenge and she had no idea what she had done to deserve this. Edward was right, he was right to preserve her. The venom was hell.
The last day was the worst. Her lungs were enveloped in the flames and she was sure her screams meant nothing anymore. Who had found her? Had they found her? Surely she was nothing more than charred remains by now, she had to be. Her eyes had been bad, but her lungs were worse. Then her heart, the final piece. The venom flowed through her ventricles, permanently freezing them while it broiled them in the heat. With a final breath, her heart stopped. Once the venom had filled her body, she felt cool again, much too cold to be alive. Was this death? Had she been turned?
Bella's questions were answered when her eyes finally fluttered open. Particles of dust and the specks on the wall and the sounds of the wind flooded her senses. She stood up, suddenly aware of the warm spring air on her skin. Then she saw him, and she recognized him. It was Emmett! Suddenly she was near him and his large form was being crushed by her arms.
"Woah, Bells, you're crushin' me!" She pulled back, unaware of her own strength. He looked her up and down, the black jeans and navy blue blouse that Alice had chosen were perfect for her, his girl. "You look like you."
"Is that a good thing?" She was shocked to hear her own voice, and even more surprised to see her reflection. While she looked like herself, she appeared more leonine, more confident, and slightly taller?
Emmett laughed, "It's perfect, and your spine is straighter now, no more slouching. Makes you look taller." She looked back at him, impressed that he seemed to know what she was thinking.
When a gust of wind blew in, she caught the smell of an animal in the distance. She took off before Emmett could realise and chased the scent. Emmett arrived just in time to see her pounce on a mountain lion, a natural hunter. As she pierced the jugular vein, blood sprayed on her face and into her mouth. Emmett had to force himself to look away, fearing he might pounce.
"Did you see that?!" Blood stained her lips and shirt, not that it concerned her. He caught the tinge of crimson in her hair as well and laughed.
"Sure did, beautiful." Sure, he would miss her blush when he complimented her, but, God, did he love the animalistic look in her eye as she stared back at him. She caught a glimpse of a yellow hue hitting a mountain top and took off running once more. Emmett caught up for the second time.
There Bella stood, the sunlight casting a halo of diamonds on her alabaster skin and Emmett beside her, still just as hopelessly in love with her.
