Desperate to matter, to gain a fraction of the power and influence of her peers, Naomi applies herself to become a heroine unlike any other. One powered by ingenuity and strength of character instead of divinity and nepotism. She seeks the only form of immortality available to mere mortals like her, that which came from being remembered forever in the stories of men. Nothing will get in her way,... except maybe her nephilim brother and those that see that her place was as a breeder for the gods.

Sorry I have been gone so long, I got burnt out on all Percy Jackson stories for a while but I am back. I won't be updating this a lot, maybe once or twice a week but I will try.

This is short, but I am getting back into the swing of the story so forgive me.

Naruto gathered his strength, feeling chakra over fill his muscles leaving them loose and strong. Behind Mrs. Dodds came two more old ladies: one in a green hat, one in a purple hat. Otherwise they looked exactly like Mrs. Dodds-same gnarled hands, paisley handbags, wrinkled velvet dresses. Triplet demon grandmothers.

They sat in the front row, right behind the driver. The two on the aisle crossed their legs over the walkway, making an X. It was casual enough, but it sent a clear message: nobody leaves.

The bus pulled out of the station, and they headed through the slick streets of Manhattan.

"She didn't stay dead long," Percy said, his voice cold and ready. "I thought you said they could be dispelled for a lifetime."

"I said if you're lucky," Annabeth said. "You're obviously not."

"She wasn't hard to kill, we are better trained and prepared. I'm not worried." Naruto said, excitement and bloodlust oozing from every pore and word.

"Or, we could slip out of the window?" Annabeth said, her tone weak and a little afraid.

Naruto frowned. "I don't think they open, I can't hear any air coming through their cracks."

"A back exit?" she suggested.

There wasn't one. Even if there had been, it wouldn't have helped. By that time, they were on Ninth Avenue, heading for the Lincoln Tunnel.

"Doesn't matter, Naruto and I will kill them, stay down Annabeth." Percy stood, as did Naruto.

'No, I got it Percy... stay down and don't move. Give me your sword." Percy obeyed, knowing from Naruto's tone he had no choice. It was then that They hit the Lincoln Tunnel, and the bus went dark except for the running lights down the aisle. It was eerily quiet without the sound of the rain.

Naruto used to dark to his advantage, moving at blinding speeds to appear near the demon ladies, using Percy's blade to carve the old ladies into dust and return to his seat...all before they left the tunnel. When they left the tunnel, allowing light to return, Annabeth gaped at where the old ladies had been before turning to Naruto who smirked at her. "Ninja are pretty fast, even the slow ones. If you think that is fast, you should see what happens when I use Kyuubi's chakra."

"Wow, no wonder your so cocky." Annabeth said. "You killed all three Kindly ones in seconds... I... remind me never to anger you, okay? I value my life too much."

Percy laughed a little. " That is what I like to call Lesson One. Trust me, it gets better."

A howl shook the world suddenly, thunder followed seconds later and the Bus stopped so hard it almost knocked even Naruto over. The overwhelming feeling of God magic filled the air all of a sudden, just as it had when the minotaur had chased them. " Shit!" Naruto screamed. "It's lightning, we need to get out."

Thunder shook the bus once more. The hair rose on the back of Naruto's neck.

They rushed outside and found the other passengers wandering around in a daze, arguing with the driver, or running around in circles yelling, "We're going to die!" Naruto spiked his chakra, and to his credit everyone not part god collapsed in shock and fear. Even they guy with the camera he saw ready to snap a picture, allowing them a chance at freedom.

BOOOOOM!

The windows of the bus exploded as the passengers ran for cover. Lightning shredded a huge crater in the roof, dispersing the presence of Godly magic.

"We need to get cover, to the woods." Naruto said, his tone brokering no argument."

They plunged into the woods as the rain poured down, the bus in flames behind them, and nothing but darkness ahead.

""""

So there we were, Annabeth, Percy and Naruto, walking through the woods along the New Jersey riverbank, the glow of New York City making the night sky yellow behind us, and the smell of the Hudson reeking in their noses... and yet despite that Naruto was all but glowing. Literally, he felt himself and his chakra expanding, his inner divine blood shivered and quivered under the magic of the world around him.

At first he was confused... then it hit him. 'The woods, they must be powering me, she is the Goddess of the Wilderness. Like how Percy is stronger in water, I must get a boost in the forest. Clearly not as much as he does in the water but still, it is like I am tapping into a tiny fraction of Kyuubi's power. Why did I not notice this in the woods... maybe Artemis is in control of how my demigod powers progress or maybe it just happens through chance... I'll ask Chiron later.'

"You haven't left Camp Half-Blood since you were seven?" Naruto almost jumped as this was said from Percy, he realized he had missed part of the conversation in his distraction clearly as Annabeth picked up immediately.

"No ... only short field trips. My dad-"

"The history professor."

"Yeah. It didn't work out for me living at home. I mean, Camp Half-Blood is my home." She was rushing her words out now, as if she were afraid somebody might try to stop her. "At camp you train and train. And that's all cool and everything, but the real world is where the monsters are. That's where you learnwhether you're any good or not."

Naruto frowned and turned to her. "Not being rude, but that is so... arrogant. Like even for me, and I ooze arrogance. It is my worst trait. You train to survive, not to find out if your good. That's it."

She frowned and turned away. "Logically I know your right... but if I am being honest, pride is my fatal flaw and well..."

"It gets you, I get that. Trust me, I have my own fatal flaws... several of them in fact. I am arrogant, impatient, wrathful and kind of impulsive. I have worked on it through therapy, you might want to try it. Anyway... I can feel something close, my sense of direction seems to have improved in these woods." Naruto then led them away towards where he felt... something, something that felt cold and lifeless as opposed to the almost breathe like warmth of the world around him.

After a while they started to see light up ahead: the colors of a neon sign. Naruto could smell food. Fried, greasy, excellent food that he had come to adore in this world. He then realized he hadn't eaten anything unhealthy since he'd arrived at Half-Blood Hill, where we lived on grapes, bread, cheese, and extra-lean-cut nymph-prepared barbecue. This boy needed a double cheeseburger.

They kept walking until they came across a deserted two-lane road through the trees. On the other side was a closed down gas station, a tattered billboard for a 1990s movie, and one open business, which was the source of the neon light and the good smell. It wasn't a fast-food restaurant like Naruto had hoped. It was one of those weird roadside curio shops that sell lawn flamin-gos and wooden Indians and cement grizzly bears and stuff like that. The main building was a long, low warehouse, sur-rounded by acres of statuary.

"What the heck does that say?" Percy asked.

"I don't know," Annabeth said.

Naruto, having mastered his dyslexia, answered. "Aunty Em's Garden Gnome Emporium."

Flanking the entrance, as advertised, were two cement garden gnomes, ugly bearded little runts, smiling and wav-ing, as if they were about to get their picture taken.

They crossed the street, following the smell of the ham-burgers.

"The lights are on inside," Annabeth said. "Maybe it's open."

"Snack bar," Percy said wistfully.

"Snack bar," she agreed.

Naruto stumbled, feeling tired as he left the forest and touched the road. His sense of direction dulled, the coldness of the man made structure removed him from the zen of the forest's magic.

The front lot was a forest of statues: cement animals, cement children, even a cement satyr playing the pipes, which gave Grover the creeps.

They stopped at the warehouse door.

Then the door creaked open, and standing in front of us was a tall Middle Eastern woman-at least Naruto assumed she was Middle Eastern, because she wore a long black gown that cov-ered everything but her hands, and her head was completely veiled. Her eyes glinted behind a curtain of black gauze. Her coffee-colored hands looked old, but well-manicured and elegant.

Her accent sounded vaguely Middle Eastern, too. She said, "Children, it is too late to be out all alone. Where are your parents?"

"They're ... um ..." Annabeth started to say.

"We were in that bus crash just a few hours ago, lightning struck it." Naruto smoothly said, whimpering. He was used to acting, this was easy.

My poor dears, are you alright?" the woman said, holding her hand over her heart.

"We were disorented from the blast, the sound hurt our ears and heads...we stumbled away and ended up here... Anyway, we're lost. Is that food I smell?" Naruto kept his tone soft, desperate and kind and it seemed to affect the woman.

"Oh, my dears," the woman said. "You must come in, poor children. I am Aunty Em. Go straight through to the back of the warehouse, please. There is a dining area."

They thanked her and went inside.

Naruto froze immediately as all of his battle instincts kicked in and he heard a faint hissing... something was wrong and he could not tell what. The feeling was stronger then normal though, almost as if his blessing from Artemis was telling him something. He just wasn't sure what...

He would have to keep his gaurd up... and hope for the best.

"""

"Please tell me that Chakra makes him immune to Medusa's curse." Artemis shivered, hating the laws that prevented direct interference. She wanted nothing but to save her godson, but she could not. Besides, he just easily destroyed the Furies and they were no joke. He should be fine...

Right?

"Please be safe, I need you to be alive, my beautiful son..." She stretched her senses out more, allowing the full image of Medusa's layer to be visible. "I wonder what he will do. Will he just kill her, or will he help her as she too was a victim of another person... ostriscised like he was."

Artemis knew it was not godly of her, but she had changed through Naruto, becoming more human as she saw his suffering and isolation. It made her realize her own flaws and so she strived to overcome them. She wanted to help those that gods harmed, and so she decided that when this quest was done that she would send Naruto out to do just that... she just needed him to survive this quest and prove himself worthy to Zeus.

Just survive this quest and he could go on countless missions that served the world and gave him experience, preparing him for his own destiny... that was all he needed to do...

That was all he needed...

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was short but fun.
