[THIRD PERSON POV]
Hachiman's classes passed by with breeze and rather uneventful, which he was truly feel grateful for it. And since Shiki's seat was moved to his side, he could at least feel at ease, but how did he able to convince Hiratsuka-sensei to let her sit next to him? No one knows but one thing for sure is that no boomer was harmed in the process, perhaps. Hopefully.
"Yo, Hikitani-kun. You're really lucky aren't cha?"
"Man, you should tell us your secret to get such cutie!"
However, due to the certain (embarrassing) event that happened in the lunch break. Hachiman now need to face a rather troublesome problem or in another way he prefers to call it, an annoyingly loud riajuu and to add more horror for him, it was the idiot type. Why yes, 'riajuu' is another word of 'trouble' for him, how surprising but I was inclined to agree with him.
The two members of the 2-J class's loud trio, Ooka and Yamato, were currently surrounded him like they're a best friend since child even though Hachiman was clearly doesn't even know or remember their name.
And of course, he was showing his discontent very clearly but it was just pitifully fruitless due to their inability to think properly and thus he just groaned and tried brush them away. Unfortunately for him again, they were quite persistent and keep pushing him to spill out the so called tips for getting a hotie even though he seriously doesn't understand what in actual hell they are talking about.
"Look, I don't know what you guys are trying to say but if I didn't get to my club now, that ice queen will chew me to death. Now scram."
"No way, w-" "You tell us first and you'll get pas-"
However, whatever thing they're trying to say to him was quickly died down alongside their will to (annoyingly) ask him as something behind Hachiman has sent a shiver down to their spine. A bead of sweat rolled down on their nape as Shiki, who apparently stood behind Hachiman, was currently glaring at them with the most intense and coldest gaze they have ever seen and receive in their entire life. With that, they quickly scurried away from the loner and leaving with his cousin.
"W-we will ask you later, Hikitani-kun!"
"S-see ya, bro!"
Realizing that something was happened, Hachiman turned his face and found his beautiful cousin with the sweet inducing smile planted on her face. However, he only responds it with dead stare and questioning eyebrow.
She sighed and dropped her smile, "I would appreciate thanks, Hachi-kun."
"Thanks, I guess." He paused before stand up from his seat, "Shall we go now?"
They then proceed to make their way together toward the service club's clubroom to get the approval from Yukino to let Shiki join the service club. Ever since Shiki has heard the existence of service club and it relation with her cousin, she have decided to join it right away without second thought which surprised him, he didn't complaining though.
Meanwhile, Tobe who came back from getting a drink saw his two buddies trembling violently on their seat while mumbling something about 'life's hard' and questioning about how scary this world can be as if they have saw something far scarier than the dunwich horror.
OooOooO
[HACHIMAN POV]
"You never told me that you're bullied, Hachi-kun." Ah, no wonder why she glared at them.
"Ostracized and quite annoyed, maybe. But trust me, Shiki, I was never bullied. Maybe a rumor or two about me have wandered around the school but trust me, it was nothing compared to my middle school." I told her to not so serious about this. Unfortunately, it fuels her will to interrogate me even more.
"Your middle school?"
"Something happened but it mostly because I did something stupid." I then held her hand that already formed into a tight fist and smiled, "but you should never think about the past. After all, I already enjoyed my current way for living especially after you came back."
Blush appeared on her face but she didn't back away embarrassedly or pulled her arm away from me, instead, she looked at me for a moment before an understanding look appeared on her eyes with a smile. She then replies my smile with her signature smile that filled with a lot ton volt of cuteness that could power an entire town.
I could feel my cheeks begin to warm up as I stare at her smile before I averted my gaze away to calm my beating heart down. However unfortunately for my heart, my eyes ended up landed at her hand that apparently have her fingers intertwined to mine. Now that was lewd! How did she just casually commit that!?
Realizing where was my gaze directed to, I feel something really bad for my heart's health coming. Before I could do anything to get my hand from her, she then smirked and unexpectedly brings our hand closer to her mouth before kissing my hand gently like how a knight would kiss a lady's hand. I swear my mouth just dropped to the floor right now. But unfortunately for my poor heart, she is not done yet as she planted my shaky hand on her cheek before rubbing it to her smooth, rosy cheek.
With the sun behind me, its orange yellowish light illuminated her rosy face and beautifies her ridiculously sweet smile even more. And as if a magic was just being casted upon my eyes, I can't drift my gaze away from her striking pink eyes and forgot about everything in this world.
"Then..." She started, but I still couldn't be able to break away from this reverie.
The azalea gaze, burning with beautiful passion, keep staring at mine and sent a shiver down to my spine. And then, the entrancing pink lips began to move, "...what I need to do to make your life become even more incredible?"
Just having you on my side for eternity is enough for me...
...wait.
WE'RE COUSIN GODDAMNIT! THIS IS SOUND SO WRONG! (noth note: it's just cousin, Hachiman! THINK! It is a WIN-FCKIN-CEST!)
While I was still dumbstruck and freezing on there, Shiki was already released my hand and briskly walked away, leaving me behind before I could even break away from my trance. Sweat rolled down on my hand and head, while my eyes are unfocused and my head simply feels dizzy from the amount of blood surging toward it.
While still completely dumbfounded, I forced myself to move and calm my wildly beating heart down.
I then followed behind her and we keep walking toward my clubroom silently, trying to recover from the earlier show. No word has been exchanged in our way, only the reverberating sound of our steps that fills the awkwardness between us.
She maybe the one who pulled that stunt, but I was very sure that she is no better than myself right now. And given the circumstance, she would probably show it to me in less than minute. After all, we've been walking through the same corridor two times after our little... inappropriate act. Wait, since when did I use that kind of formal word?
And like I said before, she stopped in her track before slightly and reluctantly turning her surprisingly still red face. Her pink eyes then meekly and guiltily glanced at me from her shoulder.
"U-Umm, where is your c-clubroom again?"
With that, I sighed loudly and walked toward her. You reap what you sow, Shiki... (note:ohohoho... she's indeed gonna reap what she sow, hehe...)
OooOooO
[THIRD PERSON POV]
The sound of tapping heel reverberated around the room. The source of it was the resident ice queen of the Sobu high school and the president of the service club. Needless to say, she was clearly displeased about something.
The reason of this was surprisingly from her clubmate, Hikigaya Hachiman –the most hated person in the Sobu and a self-proclaimed loner king— or rather to put it more precise, his recent absence.
And to make it even worse, he was also terribly late to attend the clubroom this time. Yuigahama who was sitting next to her could only smile wryly at her president's mood and its significant effect to the clubroom's temperature.
"Y-Yukinon, I think Hikki will come..." Yuigahama said, trying her best to calm the blizzard down.
"Hmph. I highly doubt it, Yuigahama-san. Knowing how slothful Hikigaya-kun, it is highly possibly that he was choosing to go home rather than coming here. Perhaps I need to improve my way to fix him." However, Yukinoshita just simply scoffed the idea.
"B-But, you couldn't blame him, y'know. Like, he got injured pretty bad yesterday." Upon hearing Yuigahama's words, a sense of guilt began to fill Yukinoshita's fragile heart.
Thinking about it again, Yuigahama was right that he was not in his best condition due to certain predicament that she had heard from Yuigahama yesterday. And she herself saw Hiratsuka-sensei and a pink haired girl carrying a bleeding Hachiman to infirmary and attracting everyone attention toward them, especially when Hachiman all of sudden laughed loudly.
However, she was still wondering, why did his absence bring a distress to her and irritated her to such extent? Is it perhaps that... she was worried about him? She laughed at such ridiculous idea. Ironically, the slight warm on her face betrayed her thought but she keep convinces herself that it was just the summer affecting her. As expected of tsundere...
Suddenly, her thought was broken by the sound of door knocking and followed by the door sliding open with a thud. She turned her bright blue eyes toward the front door and found her verbal punching bag, Hikigaya Hachiman with a white bandage on his head and flushed face followed by the same pink-haired girl that carried him yesterday, who's apparently as flushed as him. How fishy, something scandalous was definitely happens between them but she decided to set the matter aside.
"Yo." Hachiman greets them with his trademark greet, much to her dismay.
"Yahallo! Hikki! Uh... And to you too, Mori-san!" Yuigahama replies while walking toward them.
Mori Shiki. From what she'd heard from Yuigahama, she was apparently a newly transferred student in class 2-F and also Hikigaya Hachiman's cousin. She thought Yuigahama's description about the said girl was exaggerated, but now it was proven to be wrong as she has seen her with her own eyes. Truly, she was indeed dazzlingly beautiful that has made her wondering, is it perhaps that Hachiman was adopted? Up until now, his relatives were very charming and beautiful in her opinion so that's why the thought have crossed her mind. Poor Hachiman.
But somehow, looking at Hachiman currently now, Yukinoshita felt something different at his appearance, aura and the air around him. Is it perhaps that his charm appeared as I become conscious to his relative? She thought.
Breaking out of her trance, Yukinoshita now realized that the room was completely silent and everyone was currently staring at her confusedly. Clearing her throat, she fixed her figure and then looked back at them with her usual icy gaze.
"Good afternoon. I thought you won't appear today using a petty excuse, Hikigaya-kun. But it seems that my effort these past few months have bears a fruit after all." He clicked his tongue at her remark and sent a death stare at her. Hm? She wonders that is it just her or Hachiman's eyes somehow radiated something different than usual?
Putting that aside, she then stood up and walked toward them with hand crossed in her signature pose, "Anyway, would you be so kind to introduce me to your company, Hikigaya-kun?"
Upon hearing that, a worry suddenly flashed on his face as if he remember something before turning his gaze toward the girl behind him. But after seeing that Shiki seemingly not too upset at Yukinoshita's remark, he then sighed in relief under his breath. The last thing he wanted in here was a catfight after all.
"Well, Shiki, this is my club's president, my private insulter and Sobu resident ice queen, Yukinoshita Yukino." Shiki then give Yukinoshita a slight bow and a smile, a genuine one and not a sadistic one which he was glad about it.
"Hikigaya-kun, coul-"
"And Yukinoshita, this is my cousin, Mori Shiki."
Yukinoshita's brow twitched from how he cut her off, making the room's temperature dropped slightly and a cold sweat rolled down on Yuighama's neck while she wryly smiled and chuckled. Fortunately, she still replied Shiki's bow with her own before she introduced herself to the pinknette.
"Nice to meet you, Shiki-san. Please don't take any of Hikigaya-kun's nonsense seriously as he can be hideous usually."
"Nice to meet you too, Yukinoshita-san. It seems like my cousin and you were really close." Yukinoshita's brow twitched again at her statement.
"I would like to not use that term to describe our relationship, Mori-san. Putting that aside, I apologize for not letting you take a seat sooner and please wait for me preparing the tea." She gestured her toward the table in the middle of the room.
"Ah, thank you for your offer. If I may, could you please not adding any sugar in my tea?" Hachiman, whose apparently leaving their conversation for a moment, have brought a chair for Shiki to sit.
"Very well then. Please wait for a moment."
"Mori-san, are you have a request here? Ah, or you even want to join this club!?" As they sat down on their respective seat, Yuigahama started a conversation with the pinknette. As expected of the social butterfly.
"Well, I actually interested in this club, so I've planned to join it with Hachi-kun's help." Yukinoshita and Yuigahama ears perked up at how she called the dead-eyed boy. Somehow, it tickled them off at how she casually called him with his given name.
Hachiman who was already absorbed on his book as usual didn't catch their slight slip. And then the conversation goes on.
"Anyway, Yuigahama-san, Yukinoshita-san. I'm deeply thankful to both of you for being on Hachi-kun's side until now." Both of the girl catches off guard as Shiki began to bow deeply. "Please take care of me too from now on, Yuigahama-san, Yukinoshita-san."
"M-Mori-san, please lift your head!" Yuigahama said in panic.
"I see, then please take care of me too, Mori-san." Meanwhile, Yukinoshita with a tray at hand gracefully bowed back at her before setting the tea on the table.
"Anyway, Mori-san. Where do you live before coming here?" Once again, Yuigahama started a new topic with her incredible social skill.
"Ah, I live in prefecture Gunma with my grandma before." Her claim raised the two girl's eyebrows, "Now I live in Hachi-kun house ever since my grandma passed away." Lifting the cup, she blows the steam away before sipping the warm tea slowly.
"A-Ah, I'm sorry, Mori-san." "I'm sorry for your loss too, Mori-san." The two girls then apologized.
"Nah, it's okay. I was already letting her go, well, since I have Hachi-kun again now." Once again, the two girls flinched at how Shiki was talking like Hachiman's girlfriend.
And the way the room's temperature dropped from both of their mood was terribly comedic in a way as if this is a shitty harem anime. Wait, this is still a shitty fanfic though. Meanwhile, the said boy who suddenly became the girl's topic glared questioningly at Shiki with ears slightly red as he remembers the earlier incident. His little ahoge was cutely pointed at her as if it was trying to threaten her, completely sucked Yuigahama's and Yukinoshita's attention to it.
"What the hell did you say?"
"Nothing, Hachi-kun. Anyway, could you please leave the three of us alone? I have something to talk with them." However, his flustered expression dissipated quickly as she asked him.
He was visibly tensed and his demeanor became much more serious as his glares become sharper. Shiki, however, was calm and cool faced with his gaze while her smile still adorning her face as if she was trying to convince him about something. Meanwhile, the two girls who watched on the side were completely oblivious and glanced confusedly at each other.
The silence then stretched for a whole good minute, making the other two occupant became uneasy. That was until Hachiman broke the tense silence with a defeated sigh before stand up from his seat.
"Alright, I'll leave. I need to check on Hiratsuka-sensei after all." This time, the pinknette was the one who glared at him.
"You're not too harsh on her aren't you? You have a tendencies to be cruel about anything around me, y'know." He then sheepishly chuckled.
"Well, that's why I will make sure she won't hang herself right now." Walking to the door, he stopped and looked back at her, "just don't make a trouble, alright?" Fear and worry clearly dripping from his voice.
"I will."
With that, he left Shiki with his two clubmates alone and hoping that she won't cause a ruckus or hurt herself in there.
"I assume you have something to talk to us, yes?" Yukinoshita who watched Hachiman walking away asked the pinknette in front of her who still had the gentle smile on her face.
"Yes, but first."
She then bowed again at them, albeit this time, it was much deeper than before. Yuigahama panicked as she keeps bowing while Yukinoshita watches her calmly but still slightly panicked in her mind. However, she still kept her gaze on her until Shiki lifted her head and face them again with much more serious expression.
"I'm once again deeply thankful to both of you for accompanying Hachi-kun up until now."
"We're just a clubmate, Mori-san. Nothing less, nothing more." Gracefully brushing her black hair, Yukinoshita told her.
"Are you sure about that, Yukinoshita-san?" However, Shiki then asked a weird question to her. Inwardly, she wondered what does it means.
Lifting the tea cup, Shiki's gentle smile widen slightly before she sip the lukewarm tea slowly. Her gaze was completely focused on the brown liquid before all of sudden; she made the two girls almost choked on their own saliva.
"I know both of you have a feeling to Hachi-kun."
Her voice was low and barely audible, but they still clearly heard it. And thus, the effect was incredibly destructive to the two girls. Face flaring red, Yukinoshita stood up from her seat and slammed the table with her hand while Yuigahama froze with mouth agape.
"W-what a ridiculous claim! From what in actual world did you get such atrocious idea, Mori-san!? " Yukinoshita denies.
Meanwhile, the pinknette was still as calm as lake and stared at her innocently. At that time, Yukinoshita found herself made a conclusion that Hikigaya's bloodline was filled with cheeky and cunning people.
"Why are you so upset about this, Yukinoshita-san? I didn't say you liked him aren't I?" Brows arched, Shiki asked without any hint of guilt or visible uneasiness. Watching how she was being played by the girl, Yukinoshita could only inwardly curse and tried her best to recover. Such a dangerous person...
Calm down, Yukino... it's not like you have anything for Hikigaya-kun... yeah, you don't have anything for him so you don't need to be angry...
Meanwhile, Yuigahama who keep silent for a few moments earlier finally opened her mouth.
"M-Mori-san! Now can I-I ask you something!?" Filled with determination, Yuigahama's eyes shone with brimming fire accompanying her burning red face.
A melancholic smile adorned Shiki's face, "Go on."
"W-what is your relationship with Hikki...? Other than being a cousin." Her voices grew lower and lower as she said that, but Shiki could still hear it.
"Sadly, we're not in a relationship." Both of them then sighed in relief as the pinknette face saddened. Until she muttered, "not yet."
Their head turned in a span of second that I almost afraid that they might snap their spine in the process while their relieved face morphed into a horror one. Shiki who watched their reaction couldn't hold her chuckle as they both glared at her suspiciously.
"You both... hahaha..." Covering her mouth, Shiki break out into laughter before slowly quieted down while wiping a tear on the corner of her eyes.
"Hachi-kun was my hero." Then she continued in much sadder tone. "Yes, he was never become those kind of hero who save other people or even me. I was even the one who saved her." She chuckled, a saddened happiness filled it.
"But he never leaves me. Despite how many times he got hurt by me, despite how many times he complained how hurt and annoying it was, despite how dangerous it was. He never leaves me." She then looked straight at their eyes with the burning pink eyes that amaze both of them.
"You two might think that this is your advantage since I will automatically feel guilty to his suffering, no?" A smirk that as striking as her gaze appeared, "but sorry for you, I won't back away just because that petty little excuse. I'll protect him, cheers him, support him or do whatever thing that will make him happy with all of my might."
She then stood up from her seat and leaned forward to look at them with her glare. "That's why, be honest with your own feeling. Compete with me using all of yours."
OooOooO
[HACHIMAN POV]
Walking through the empty hallway, I could feel uneasiness slowly creeping to my heart and filling it with nervousness. What if my decision to leave Shiki in the clubroom will bring a bad thing to her? What if she got hurt by accident on there? Agh, this is because you're too weak Hachiman! Why do you always comply with her want!? Get a grip goddamnit, you're her older cousin!
At least Hiratsuka-sensei's punch weren't too powerful as she was already broken down... but, ow, it still hurts...
Pondering my regret about leaving Shiki alone, I didn't realize that I was I finally arrived in front of the clubroom's door. But before I could even reach the door held, anxiety stopped my hand from moving toward the door. Why did I feel opening this door will gonna be a really bad idea? I hope nothing happen while I was away.
Pushing the uneasiness aside, I forced my hand to move and slid open the door. The chattering that I could heard after opening the door was surprisingly cheerful and friendly. I didn't feel any trace of malice or uneasiness from their talk, but somehow, I couldn't get rid the uneasy feeling from my heart. What is this?
As the thud of the door echoed throughout the room, their talk was briskly stopped as their attentions were focused on me. But then Yukinoshita and Yuigahama, suspiciously averted they gaze and looked at anything but me with a tingle of rosy blush on their face. Meanwhile, Shiki who apparently hold her phone in her hand grinned at me mischievously. I don't like where this is going...
"Hachi-kun, here, here." Waving her hand, Shiki called from her seat which was apparently moved next to my seat.
"You're not causing trouble aren't you?"
"Of course not, Hachi-kun." She then glanced at the blushing two girls and avoiding my gaze, "I'm just showing them you picture of you when you're still a child."
I barely heard it; it was too low and impossible to be heard from this distance. But it seems like I was able to catch her words in inhuman way. And I didn't think anything as I just jump at her with all of my might, trying to snatch away the phone in her hand while she maniacally laughed.
Ahhhhhhh! From where the hell did she have those photos!? I swear to god I've burned it some years ago!
With that, the rest of the evening passed with Yukinoshita endlessly ridiculed me while Yuigahama tried to ease my pain away and Shiki patted my back while also laughing at my suffering.
I swear my revenge will come to you my beloved cousin!
OooOooO
I'm so sorry if this chapter lacking something, I feel I kinda feel it but didn't know where the part that lacks something is. Hopefully, you guys still enjoy this chapter.
Anyway, are Shiki ended up being Yukinoshita's and Yuigahama's enemy? I could say no since the last part of Shiki's dialogue was intentionally made to be hanging like that. I'm not so sorry!
So, love rival? Yes, I could certainly say that but I don't certainly sure if that's gonna be the plot or not since I just write that part to show some of Shiki's personalities which was aggressive, assertive, and really protective. Damn, poor Hachiman getting T-posed by ChadShiki.
Thanks for all of your support and patience to read this garbage of mine. I wish you have a really nice day and time! See you next time!
Bye-bye!
