Sue Li
It was the night of the Yule Ball and Ron was watching the champions and their dates making their entrance into the Great Hall to start the champions' waltz. Ron widened his eyes in surprise to see that Harry's date was a petite asian girl with brown hair in an elegant bun, and was dressed in purple dress robes. Ron knew the girl walking next to Harry wasn't Cho Chang because said girl was Cedric's date. Not just that, but Cho's hair was the same colour as Harry's. Ron and Harry had a falling out because of Ron's irrational jealousy issues and how he accused Harry of cheating his way into the tournament, and since then he refused to make it up to Harry even after the first task concluded. After the champions finished the opening waltz, Ron spotted Harry and the other asian girl walking over to the red punch bowl. Thinking this was the right moment, Ron approached the couple to confront Harry (not even acknowledging that he was risking biting off more than he could chew).
"Oh, so you come crawling back to me after keeping your distance from me since the goblet spewed out my name?" Harry responded coolly, as he and the girl glared at the redhead.
"Well, you have to have it all, Potter!" Ron growled as his jealousy flared up, raising a fist up in an angry manner. "The fame, the glory, the ladies, every single thing!"
"You should've known me better than that, Ronald!" Harry growled back, not intimidated in the slightest. "I didn't want to be in this wretched tournament, I wanted a normal year for once. You've got everything I've always wanted, a family who loves and cares about you. Why would you wanna give all that up for the sake of being famous?"
"All of my siblings have accomplished something while I haven't!" Ron ranted in an angry voice.
"Coming from the one Weasley who has such a terrible work ethic!" said the girl standing next to Harry, in a matter-of-fact voice.
"Who are you?" asked Ron.
"Did you forget that I'm also a fourth year?" said the girl rhetorically. Then she continued on, "I'm Sue Li of Ravenclaw House."
"How'd you meet Harry?" asked Ron.
"Well, it started shortly after he asked Cho to be his date," Sue explained. "When Cho told Harry that Cedric already asked her. She made it up to Harry by having me meet up with them to practice the champions' waltz. Harry was rather surprised when he and I met, but he warmed up to me pretty quickly. You have no business being within mine and Harry's vicinity, so why don't you leave us be."
"Besides, Neville is my best mate," Harry revealed in a delightful voice, much to Ron's shock. "He was there for me like a best mate should."
"You can do better than her, Harry," Ron remarked. "Sue is too short to be with anybody."
"What's being short have to do with it, Ronald?!' asked Harry in a rather furious voice.
"I may be four foot nine, Weasley, but that doesn't make me less than the taller girls!" growled Sue.
"What are you gonna do about it?" asked Ron in an overconfident tone.
Sue angrily responded by grabbing Ron by the front of his traditional dress robes, pulling him down to eye level, and smacked him hard across the face, much to the amusement of everyone in the Great Hall. There were a countless number of giggles, since everyone knew that Ron was an insensitive person. But Ron's punishment was far from finished.
"Since you wanna have fame and recognition, Ronald," Harry told him in a rather fierce voice, whipping his wand out and pointing it at his former best mater. "I'll give you your wish."
Harry cast some sort of spell that made Ron's dress robes disappear and exposing his boxer shorts (which were red and had bludgers darting around the material), resulting in the students laughing themselves like crazy just as Ron felt heat radiating from his cheeks as his face turned bright-red in embarrassment. Before Ron could react any further, Harry cast another spell that resulted in Ron's boxer shorts turning into a pair of tighty-whitey briefs, causing even more laughter as everybody also pointed their fingers at Ron (who tried covering his briefs with his hands, with little use because of some of the students behind him). Ron immediately turned around and ran out of the Great Hall as fast as possible as the laughter echoed in his ears, running off to parts of the castle unknown. Once the Yule Ball environment returned to normal, Harry gently grabbed a hold of Sue'a hand and led her out onto the middle of the dance floor. Sue put her arms around the back of Harry's neck just as he put his hands on her waist.
'Why didn't I ever see those green eyes?' thought Sue, beguiled by Harry's emerald-green eyes.
'Sue definitely has a pretty set of brown eyes!' thought Harry, equally beguiled by Sue's eyes.
The two continued dancing away, with the rest of the students attending the Yule Ball. With Ron out of the picture for good, Harry was free to make better friends who were also willing to be positive role models. For once, luck was on Harry's side.
The End!
Author's note 1: I'd like to give a shoutout to the anonymous review 'Anon' for suggesting that Harry use a spell to make Ron's dress robes disappear and leave him humiliated while in his tighty-whitey briefs.
Author's note 2: Another one-shot finished! Which girl should Harry be paired with in the next one-shot? Please let me know in a review or a PM. As always, ideas are greatly appreciated, happy reading!
