Thank you to Frannie and Dani!
Day 13: March 25, 2020
Alice
15:32 PDT
Los Angeles, California
I take a deep breath before I knock on Edward's door. I step back down the hall as the door creaks open. Edward gives me a sheepish smile as he leans against the doorframe. "Hey, Ali."
I'm not quite ready to talk about what I heard this morning. I mean, I've heard Bella having sex before because the girl is seriously loud, but she's never been that loud. I so don't want to know what got her that vocal.
"I, uh," I pause, motioning to the food I've set in front of his door. He looks down at the two sandwiches.
"Oh, thanks." He bends over, picking up the tray, and looks up at me nervously.
I let out a long breath. "You two are restricted to this room, your bathroom, or Bella's room. We're cutting this half of the house off." I say, shaking my head. From behind Edward, I can hear Bella squeak, and he turns to look at her.
"I'm sorry, Ali!" She calls. I shake my head as my brother turns back to look at me.
"I bought a jumbo pack of earplugs," I say, shaking my head. "Just … try to have better timing."
What else is there to say. Edward looks sheepish as he shifts on his feet. He puts the tray of food in his room before coming back to the door.
"I'm sorry," he says quietly. I shake my head, my eyes closing.
"Don't want to talk about it," I say quickly. "Bella, you're on quarantine at least until we know Edward is clear."
Bella appears behind him, wrapped up in one of his old T-shirts he's had since high school. "Yeah, I know," she says, glancing at Edward. She turns back to me, shaking her head. "I'm really sorry, Ali."
I wave her off. I'm not mad they're together. They are both adults, and they are absolutely allowed to have relationships with whomever they want. Did I see this coming? No. But whatever. Bella is my best friend, and that doesn't change because she's sleeping with my brother.
"I'm not mad," I tell them. "I just don't want to hear it anymore."
Bella nods, her cheeks tingeing pink as Edward smirks behind her. Without even looking up at him, she elbows him in the stomach. "Don't be an ass," she snaps. He grunts, rubbing his ribs, and I have to bite back my smile. My brother can be an ass, but I'm absolutely sure Bella will handle that just fine.
"Let us know if you need anything. We're all carrying our phones just in case."
Bella nods and reaches up to push her messy hair from her eyes. "Thanks, Ali. And thanks for the food."
I nod and turn to leave them be. They leave the door open, and I don't know if I should be grateful for that or not. I can hear them arguing as I head downstairs, and I can't help my smile. I love my brother, and I love my best friend, but neither has the faintest idea what they've just gotten themselves into.
For those of you worried about Alice's reaction, I can't say I blame her for not wanting to hear what's happening down the hall. That being said, I think all things considered she's taking the suddenness of their relationship pretty well.
