This is a work of fiction that follows real historical events. This does not seek to promote anything about war and is just a what if kind of scenario. Any similarity between people, living or dead, are purely coincidental. Some aspects have been changed to form a better story.
Prinz Scharnhorst and I arrived in Kiel a few days later after the attack by the Royal Navy. Work began immediately on the Prinz Eugen when we arrived, docking relatively close to the Scharnhorst who was also undergoing serious repairs. The three of us are soon joined by Gneisenau's Kansen, gripping her sister and myself tightly, causing Prinz Eugen to get the tiniest bit jealous. Though I did not mind the gesture, It was almost painful with the amount of pressure she applied.
My life was never boring from then on, months pass and each day is a new adventure. Though the unspoken rivalry between Eugen and the battleship sisters are always enjoyable, there are a few instances where this bubbles over and develops into something more serious.
This is one of those days.
Scharnhorst rushes into my room, panting desperately and heavily. I shoot out from behind my desk and look at her curiously and expectantly.
She pants as she tries to speak. "E-Eugen. Gn-Gneis… they're…"
An explosion rings outside.
"Where!?"
"On the beach!"
I shove my chair aside and rush out of my room quickly behind Scharnhorst who still seems to be running perfectly despite her clearly weathered appearance. Rushing out of the office in a hurry, I stumble and crash against the ground. Scharnhorst quickly picks me up and stands me upright.
"Are you alright?"
"Fine. Show me where they are."
Scharnhorst opens her mouth to speak but is interrupted by a loud explosion and plume of sand coming from the horizon. I rush without an answer to the engagement and watch as a huge crowd has gathered and started placing bets on something that is just out of sight. The sound of a cannon firing bursts out from in front of the crowd, and with it, another plume of sand. The crowd cheers and a couple of the people in the crowd exchange money.
"Excuse me, pardon me." I say politely, trying to get the two to stop whatever they are doing.
Scharnhorst is less polite as she physically shoves and moves people from their positions.
I am finally able to make my way through the crowd and can't quite believe nor comprehend what is happening before my eyes.
"Heya commander! Want to come play?" The white haired heavy cruiser waves to me seductively in a skimpy and thin bikini.
I blush as Gneisenau also wears a more concealing but equally appealing outfit. Between the two of them is a large net and in the sand between them are multiple large craters created not by cannons, but by the girls themselves.
Prinz Eugen carries a volleyball and waves me down. The crowd pushes me out and into the open which allows me to view the situation more clearly.
"Geez, Scharn. You scared me half to death with how desperate you seemed."
Scharnhorst laughs and sticks out her tongue.
"We knew there was no other way we were getting you to the beach, commander. But now that you're here, why don't you play a round of volleyball with us?" She replies.
I sigh and laugh to myself.
"Thanks but no thanks, I think if I had to play against any one of you I'd literally die trying to return the ball."
"We just got a little bit heated, that's all." Prinz says with a wink. My face flushes pink as I try to keep my eyes away from her highlighted features. Prinz takes full advantage of this.
"What's wrong commander? You're already heating up." Prinz puts a hand to my forehead and smirks as she also feels her own forehead. A few catcalls come from the crowd as they watch Eugen flirt with me.
"You feel fine to me. Come on, we promise we won't hit it too hard. Right Gneis?"
"I would never hurt the commander. At least… so long as he doesn't play favorites."
My already red face grows even redder from Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen's combined teasing. With the pressure from the crowd who continually tries to get me to play and the combined efforts of the three Kansen, I decide to reward them for their clever thinking. But I was obviously not going to make it easy for them, or else they would continue to pull things like this.
The crowd erupts into applause as I take off my jacket and cap, handing it to someone in the crowd.
Scharnhorst takes the position next to her sister, leaving me to take Prinz Eugen's side.
"I hope my outfit is not too distracting for you commander~"
"I-it's fine. Just try not to kill me."
"Whatever could you mean commander~?"
Prinz licks her lips and tosses the ball up, I find my gaze on Prinz Eugen far longer than it is on the ball as I admire every aspect about her bare skin as I can. I find the colors on her bikini to be quite the eye catching scheme. However, that is not what my eyes focus on. I watch as she jumps up into the air and hits the ball right in the center, obviously dumbing the speed down for me. Her large breasts bob up and down with her jump and hypnotize me with their rapid bouncing movements. She also looks deadly serious as she prepares to have the ball shot back at her. She glances and catches me watching. She smiles and points to the opposite side of the beach where the two sisters are attempting to catch the ball with their palms.
Gneisenau stops the ball by hitting it up and waiting for her sister to smack it back. Scharnhorst almost seems to forget that it's a game for a moment and almost attempts to slam the ball into the beach. Instead, she smacks the ball and it gracefully curves over the net and lands in my closed fist right before it hits the ground. I am distracted for a moment as Scharnhorst bounces to hit the ball and her cleavage makes a large bounce with her. I am almost hit in the face with the returning ball but I am luckily saved by Eugen who gives me a disapproving look. I chuckle nervously.
I try not to stare at her exposed ass and focus on the game in front of me. Gneisenau returns with a spike which causes me to dive into the sand to save. The ball lands in the corner of the box which gives a point to Prinz and I.
"Nice one, commander~" Her seductive voice raises something within me.
"Next point won't be so easy." Scharnhorst throws the ball under the net to me. It's my turn to serve.
"You've got this commander!" Eugen cheers me on.
The gathered crowd has started chanting, "Commander! Commander! Commander!"
I'm not sure which is more embarrassing. The cheering crowd or the three insanely beautiful and scantily clothed women in front of me. I push both of them aside and throw the ball up in the air. I jump to meet the ball and launch it across the net, faster than either of them are expecting, landing directly in front of them just out of range. Another point.
I feel bad, but I may have neglected to mention that I was the captain of my volleyball team in secondary school to them. Even Eugen seems to be impressed as she stares in disbelief. I give her a fistbump as we switch positions. Eugen tosses the ball up and jumps to reach it, giving it enough power to make the sisters move. Scharnhorst blocks it but Gniesenau immediately jumps and spikes it into the ground. Their point.
"Nice one sister!"
"Not bad yourself."
Scharnhorst pats her older sister on the back. Prinz and I prepare for the next volley with cheers of excitement from the opposite end of the crowd for the battleship sisters.
…
"Your point, commander." Gneisenau hands me the ball, too tired to try and throw it under the net. We have been playing all day and the crowd that gathered now has dispersed with the growing intensity of the setting sun.
"Thanks, Gneis."
It's my serve, the game point. We have been playing all day and the summer sun has beaten down on us all day long, turning us all a bit more red than when we arrived.
I breathe deeply, just one last point and we can finally return back to work. I had postponed an entire day of work to play with them. A break that was definitely needed but that would only set me back further. I look out to the equally exhausted faces of Gneisenau and Scharnhorst. Though they look tired, they can still move with speed and precision. Unlike myself who can barely stand. I toss the ball over the net and watch as the sisters carefully assess the situation and make their return volley, the ball too low to spike. They toss the ball over the net and into Prinz Eugen's waiting hand which attempts to spike the ball into the ground, only to be stopped by Scharnhorst's quick thinking. Gneisenau gives the ball an extra umph to get it over the net, sending it to myself. I jump up and attempt to spike the ball. I watch as both sisters jump to stop the ball. I stop dead in my strack and fall to the ground, allowing Prinz to spike the ball after they had jumped.
Prinz spikes the ball hard as it creates a crater in the sand and gives us the last point when the dust clears. I let out a sigh of relief as it is finally over. The sun sets even lower as we all give each other praises.
"That was amazing, commander! I want you on my team next time." Scharnhorst compliments me.
"Sister!" Gneisenau complains.
"No offense to you of course, sister! You were amazing too!" The younger sister compliments the older one.
The two of them walk off to wash themselves clean of the sand, leaving just Eugen and I to ourselves. Eugen smiles as I try to find somewhere to keep my stare.
"It's okay to look at me, commander. I'm used to your perverted stare~"
"I-It's not like that! I-I mean it is… this time… b-but. It's only because you look so good in your bikini."
Prinz giggles. "Thanks, commander~ Say, why don't we shower together? We can get back to work twice as fast then~"
I blush deeply from her offer, though she does not try to play it off as a joke this time.
"Y-You know we can't do something like t-that."
"What do you mean? There's no rule against showering together. Unless… you were thinking of something much more~"
I can't deny that I was, but it would be too embarrassing to say that out loud.
"Teasing you is just too much fun~" She tries to stand up to my height and caresses her finger around my neck until she is eventually hanging around her neck.
"Regardless, it's getting really cold, commander."
"Oh, I forgot. I gave my jacket to someone in the crowd. Sorry."
There is a tap on my shoulder as my uniform jacket drapes my shoulders. I turn my head to look at who gave me the jacket and it doesn't register in my head that I recognized the person until Prinz Eugen lets go of my neck and salutes.
"Oh, thanks Adol…" I turn around quicker this time. "Adol!?"
"The one and only." He muses.
I turn and hug my long time friend. We embrace in a long hug which is only interrupted by the need to separate from each other before things become awkward.
"Adol! How has it been! I haven't seen you in forever!"
"Well, I've been quite busy with my own prestigious military career." Adol says proudly.
"Don't flatter yourself, you've only moved ports three times during these two years." A cold and monotone voice calls out from behind him. A stunning beauty with the largest bust I have ever seen, larger than even Bismark's, stands directly behind Adol. She flings her white hair behind her, accidentally giving me a full view of her lecherous swimsuit.
"I-Is this-?" I stutter at the beauty rivaled only by Prinz Eugen's.
"Oh, how rude of me. Fulhert, this is Graf Zeppelin. Graf Zeppelin, Fulhert. This is-"
"I know who he is. He has a far greater career than you do."
"Ouch, But you're right. He's actually seen a whole lot of action."
"What do you mean? The Führer hasn't tasked you with anything yet?"
"Tasked us! Hah! He hasn't even completed her hull."
"I thought by now with all of the-"
"Yeah, I know. But he is adamant about the uselessness of a surface fleet. He'd rather focus on his precious submarine fleet."
I sort of feel a twinge of guilt. It is true, while we have survived until this point, we have not done anything particularly useful other than sink the hood. But even then, she was sunk immediately afterwards.
"I'm sorry…" Prinz says shyly.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything against you. Your reputation precedes you. Prinz Eugen, I presume."
"You would be right." I catch Adol staring at Eugen and decide to throw my jacket over her.
"Thanks commander."
I turn back to Adol. "So what are you doing here in Kiel?"
"Finishing construction. It's much smoother than in other ports."
"Oh! Congratulations! That must be very exciting, especially after so long."
"Yes, we're very excited." Adol says, looking back at his pink eyed aircraft carrier.
A small blush comes to Graf Zeppelin's cheeks as she is mentioned by her commander instead of just saying himself. She has a certain charm to her, but I feel like she is holding and hiding a lot within her. I do not envy Adol.
"We saw the Prinz Eugen in port, did something bad happen?" Adol asks.
"I got hit with a torpedo. It was my fault, it has nothing to do with my commander."
"I wasn't implying it was. We haven't been exactly the luckiest either. We've had our own share of troubles with the Royal Navy."
"They do seem to be lurking everywhere."
"With their radar, they sure are."
Gneisenau and Scharnhorst return with their hair still a little wet. They walk up to me and analyze Adol with their gaze.
"Oh, who is this commander?"
"Girls, this is Adol. A very good friend of mine. The Kansen next to him is Graf Zeppelin. Adol, Graf Zeppelin, this is Gneisenau and Scharnhorst." I headpat both of them which causes the sisters to blush.
Prinz receives some more headpats too because she looks so lonely without them.
"The two ugly sisters. I must say, I don't know where the name came from." Adol chuckles to himself. Scharnhorst found it just as funny, Gneisenau did not.
"If you could see how we fight, you'd call us the ugly sisters too." Scharnhorst boasts.
"Regardless, your reputation is truly astounding. Four living legends right in front of me, you included of course Fulhert." He laughs.
Graf Zeppelin shyly pulls on Adol's sleeve. He whispers something to her.
"Sorry, Graf wants to enjoy the beach at night and alone. We enjoyed watching you play volleyball though."
"Thank you, We'll get out of your hair now." Prinz steals the words out of my mouth.
"We're pretty tired as well, commander. We'll be going to sleep now." Gneisenau yawns.
"Of course, you girls have a good night." I respond.
"You too, commander."
"We'll see you around, Adol. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of each other during our time here."
"How about drinks tomorrow?"
"Do you even need to ask. Do you mind if I bring everyone else?"
"Only if you don't mind if I bring Graf."
"C-commander!" Graf Zeppelin voices her protest when he uses her nickname. Prinz and I just laugh it off.
We walk off to the showers to wash off the sand. I wait for her to finish before taking my own.
The summer goes by quickly, but definitely not uneventfully. News on all fronts is not good as we are stopped in Stalingrad on the Eastern Front and the Sakura immediately lose four of their fleet carriers in a single battle while the Eagle Union only loses one. On top of that, the effects of the Eagle Union are finally being felt as they supply the Royal navy with an unending supply of bombs and steel. Not to mention men as well.
Despite this, repairs on Prinz Eugen continue on schedule. It is now October and the beautiful port of Kiel is now turning a deeper shade of dark as leaves continually fall from the trees at a much more rapid pace. The cool morning air turns my breath into fog as I look out over the city from the top of Eugen's superstructure. Scharnhorst is doing one handed pushups on her deck, Gneisenau waves up to me as she stands with her sister. I wave back with a smile. A door opens up behind me.
"Morning, commander."
"Morning Prinz."
She hands me a hot and black drink. She takes a sip from her own mug. I swirl the liquid around a couple of times before drinking it, scalding my tongue as I do so.
"Ah! Hot!"
"Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make it that hot."
"No, no. It's my fault. I failed to notice the scalding sensation in my hands."
"You spilled a little on your uniform. Let me get it for you."
Prinz takes out a handkerchief and begins making circle motions on my shirt. I can't tell if she's purposefully trying to make me feel her lovely touch, but I am not against it. She rubs her hand deep into my chest and smiles a little underneath her smirk.
"Thank you, Prinz." I say.
"No problem, Fulhert."
She looks up to me with her beautiful amber eyes and a genuine smile on her face. The first I have seen in a while. I feel ourselves come closer to each other until our lips are only a few inches apart. We both close our eyes and lean into each other.
Suddenly, the door behind us slams open and a loud friend of mine ruins the moment. Prinz and I immediately separate.
"Congratulations!" Adol shouts.
He looks at the two of us blushing lightly to hide our intentions from not only Adol but from each other. "Did I interrupt something?"
"N-nope, what is all this shouting about?" I stutter.
"What about!? Your repairs finish today of course!"
"I almost forgot about that, thanks Adol." Prinz says a bit more level headed.
"You guys don't sound that excited…"
"If you had been through what we have, you wouldn't be either."
"I wish we could switch circumstances. I haven't accomplished anything. Even our construction has been paused once again."
"You'll get your chance. Eventually he'll understand he needs a carrier to rule his empire."
"I sure hope so. I'm not sure how much longer Graf Zeppelin can go without exploding something."
"That's pretty fair."
"Oh! Right, I forgot. I've got a letter for you."
Prinz tilts her head curiously. I take the letter from Adol with the emblem of Iron Blood plastered on it. I open the letter and read its contents. After I am done, I look out to the Scharnhorst and then back to Eugen.
"So? What's it say?" Eugen asks.
"I-it's a letter from Naval HQ. After our repairs, we are to return to Norway to reinforce the coast."
"It seems we can't even have a moment's rest around here." Eugen sighs.
"We've been here for over 6 months. That's a pretty good rest."
"We didn't hardly do anything. Oh well. I guess there isn't much we can do about it. My sea legs might be a little wobbly." Eugen muses.
I chuckle and turn to Adol.
"I'm afraid our time together has been cut short, my friend."
"Ah don't worry about it, we were probably going to head out as well."
"I wish you good luck my friend."
"And to you as well… I leave you two to… whatever you were doing…"
Adol closes the door and leaves Eugen and I by ourselves. We both lightly blush as we reflect upon what happened moments earlier.
"I-I guess we'll be leaving soon…" I stutter.
"Yeah…"
"I'm gonna miss this town…"
"Yeah, it's been rather peaceful. I'm almost jealous of Scharnhorst and Gneisenau."
"Oh don't be. They're coming with us too." I pat her on the head.
"W-what? You mean… aww…"
"What's up? You were jealous of them a second ago and now you're complaining that they're coming?"
"It's just… I was hoping… it would just be the two of us…" She blushes deeply at the end of her sentence as she tries to look anywhere but at me. I blush deeply too as Eugen lets out some of her true feelings.
"W-well. It was nice while we were up there… Although, It's going to be extremely cold during the winter…"
"I guess I shouldn't complain. More ships means the more you're protected."
"Thanks, Eugen. Don't worry. You'll always be my flagship."
The two of us stand in a silence like two teenagers trying to confess to each other.
"We should tell the others."
"Yeah." Eugen nods.
I open the door for her and follow behind her. I wish I had the confidence to tell her how I felt before it's too late and the inevitable happens. Eugen stands at my side as we walk around the port and onto the Scharnhorst. Scharnhorst is more than willing to participate. Gneisenau begrudgingly agrees with her sister. Anything to get back at the Royal Navy for what they had done.
It would be a few more months before we are required to go to Norway. We had no idea how hard it would be.
"Anything on radar?"
"Nothing."
"Then how about your hydrophones?"
"Nothing either."
"I have a bad feeling something's about to happen. I don't know why or how, It's just a gut feeling."
Prinz Eugen and I sail across the North Sea in our second attempt to make a break for Norway. The first time we attempted, Scharnhorst was spotted by a Royal Navy surveillance aircraft and we were forced to retreat before the entire Royal Navy collapsed on us. This time, we are determined to make it.
It's been quiet so far, but ever since our first attempt there have been far more scouting aircraft patrols scanning the North Sea. It's to the point that there are almost no opportunities to make it. It's going to take a bit of luck and a bit of timing, but we are going as fast as we can.
"You're too tense, commander. Allow me to help you relax." Eugen says more as a command than a request. She digs her hands into my back and immediately everything starts to melt.
"Mein Gott. That feels amazing, Prinz."
"It's a special talent."
"I had no idea."
"You never asked."
"Forgive me, I'm going to be asking for it a lot more."
Eugen giggles as she digs in harder. I try to keep my eyes on the sea but I can't keep my gaze focused long enough to accomplish anything.
"Don't overstretch yourself at work~ otherwise… I won't be able to tease you."
She places her chin on my shoulder as she finishes. Her white hair snuggles into the crook in my neck as she moans in satisfaction. I take my hand and stroke it through her hair as she coos in pleasure. Suddenly, at that exact moment, Scharnhorst speaks over the radio.
"Commander, I'm sorry to report this but we've been spotted. Enemy surveillance plane bearing 267."
"Scheiße. We've barely even left port. Turn us around Scharnhorst. We're going back."
"Aye aye…"
Scharnhorst makes a 180 and returns to port with Eugen and I quickly following in unison. I sigh.
"This is impossible. They have too many scouts to alert them. We're never going to be able to make it to Norway again."
"I hate to agree with you on the subject, but I'm beginning to think the same." Eugen sighs.
"I hope this is the last time they're making us try, I don't think we could possibly make it even on a third try."
"I was thinking we could just rest for a while, you know? Take in the sights…"
"You're so funny, commander."
"Huh?"
Prinz Eugen laughs.
"What's so funny?"
"It's funny to see you confused, commander. I just felt like laughing~"
I blink a couple of times, I truly do not understand what she found so funny. However, I am not given much time to reflect on it before we arrive back in port in just a little over half a day. It is freezing outside in the middle of January. The freezing temperatures have created floating ice hazards periodically throughout the coast, resulting in a tough terrain to cross. Prinz Eugen however seems to have no problem with the ice as she pushes them aside or tears right through them with her bow.
Eugen has been acting quite differently, she's crossed the line from teasing into flirting and while I am happy about it, I am also quite nervous. A relationship with a Kansen is Illegal in all Axis nations, punishable by a whole slew of court martials and dishonorable discharges. Not to mention I would be ridiculed by the entire nation as a form of traitor.
Despite that, I cannot help the feelings I have for her.
Eugen wears a dumb smile and walks off of her bridge as soon as we dock. She wears my jacket while I wear a thicker coat, it's much colder than that day on the beach that doesn't feel so long ago.
"Come on, Commander! You're going to be late!"
"Coming! Coming!" I say rushing out of the bridge as well.
Eugen wears a fancy black dress that she had picked out herself during our break in Kiel. This is the first time I have seen her wearing it, I am rarely reminded of Prinz Eugen's majesty but the more I watch her the more I feel her noble aura radiating. Her white hair contrasts with the black dress spectacularly as she walks against the dimly lit sky of the early evening.
I wear a black tuxedo to match her dress, it's nothing fancy like hers but I do feel quite dapper wearing it to such a formal event such as this.
Tonight is the night that the most famous songstress in all of Iron Blood sings in front of the eternity of the country. Even those from the Iris Libre and other conquered countries are allowed to partake in the events tonight. Needless to say, there is a line almost literally a mile long outside of the Opera house.
Eugen and I try to catch our breaths as we pant in line. Tonight, it's just the two of us. The Ugly Sisters decided not to join us because frankly, they can't stand opera. As Scharnhorst put it, "It's like a songbird screeching to an empty room." I chuckle as I remember the face she wore when she said it.
"How long do you think we're going to have, commander?"
"Time off? Probably only a month."
"I'm hoping it's at least two. Though that might be asking a bit too much." Prinz giggles.
"Frau Eugen, Herr Müller?" A random worker comes up to us and addresses us by our last names.
"Ja?" I respond.
"Come with me, please. You have been given special seats by the Führer himself."
"The Führer?! Is he here?!" I exclaim probably louder than I should have. Now everyone's eyes are on us.
"Unfortunately, no. He sends his regards though. He wanted the two of you to have the Führer's sweet."
"That… seems mighty generous. How do we know this isn't a trick?"
"I have a letter from the Führer himself."
He hands me a letter with the seal of the Führer, obviously not replicated.
"Alright then, lead the way."
"Right away, sir."
…
We are led past the line of people and to the top floor of the Opera house where a suite marked "Der Führer" is labeled above. The man opens the door and bows, he also waves us inside. We nod our thanks for him before walking inside. He closes the door behind us with a quiet click as we walk inside.
Inside is an entire gallery of chairs, far more than the two of us need. Each is decorated as lavishly as a King's throne might be. Right in front of the viewing area is the Iron Blood symbol and Eagle made purely of gold. We're at least 6 floors up as row after row of lavish velvet chairs line the floor below us. Curtains made of the highest material available adorn the sides and hide whatever may hide behind them. Spot lights focus the stage with a burning intensity as people slowly but steadily begin finding their seats.
Eugen and I take our seats right next to each other in the very front row. It feels wrong to sit in the seat obviously meant for the Führer. Eugen seems to be enjoying it much more than I am as she examines everything around her with wide eyes. I smile and chuckle, causing her to break her trance.
"What?" She says with a smile.
"You seem to be more excited about this than I am."
"I can't help it, I've never seen such luxury before."
"It is quite impressive, I hope Agathe is as great as they say."
"I've heard from the chatter in the line that they've never heard a better voice."
"You've got great hearing."
"Always have, probably won't always will." She winks.
"Can Kansen even age? I guess you haven't been around long enough to know huh?"
"Don't be so sure, commander. I was a little girl once you know."
"Really? Somehow I can't imagine that."
"Gosh, commander. You're so mean~"
She playfully punches my arm.
"Sorry, but I really can't." I say with a chuckle.
I fondle the letter in my pocket that I stashed away because I was scared to read it out in public where spies lurk everywhere. Eugen shifts in her chair closer to me once the music starts. The band plays a quiet opening to the overture as the curtains slowly lift. This is followed by a round of applause by the crowd.
In the middle of the stage stands a single woman, probably in her mid 20s but extremely beautiful. Her body mimics that of even some of the Kansen I have seen, though she is a bit shorter than even Eugen.
As the music spikes her mouth opens and out flows one of the most beautiful voices I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Her white dress seems to raise and lower with each breath she takes as she gives her entire heart into her performance. I cannot take my eyes away from the stage for even a second.
Something that would come to bite me almost immediately.
Eugen is also focused on the performance, however our eyes naturally drift towards each other. Now was the only chance I may get in a while.
"Prinz… I-"
Only about 5 minutes have passed before I feel something hard and cold piercing the back of my head. I recognize the feeling of cold steel and the shape of the object. A luger.
Prinz immediately jumps into action and rips the arm holding the gun away from my head. She does this just in time as a shot rings out across the entire building. I jump while screams from the lower sections start making the weaker of hearts known. Prinz Eugen's strength dominates the assassin quickly, however she is quickly overtaken by other assassins.
I push one off of her allowing Prinz to get an arm free and wrestle the gun from his clutches. Eugen then summons her rigging and begins to unleash a hail of secondary fire which still causes quite a bit of damage. I would have to apologize to the Führer later.
Prinz is tackled to the ground by a lucky brute. I try to help her but only end up getting into a fight myself. This assassin also has a luger and fires two shots into the crowd. For some reason, the songstress keeps singing as the rest of the theater screams and exits in a stampede.
I get the assassin in a choke hold, but I am quickly overpowered by his brute strength.
"Who are you?!" I shout at him.
"Vive la Iris Libre!" He shouts and shoves me against the railing. My head dangles over the floor below, a fall that would clearly kill me. I kick his leg, causing him to fall to the floor and wrestle the gun out of his hands sending it across the floor. He gets back up and sucker punches me square in the gut, causing air to leave my lungs as I get the wind knocked out of me.
I return with a punch of my own to his jaw, causing him to stumble and fall backwards a bit. I give him a shove and he backs up and falls over the railing and onto the ground below. I hear him hit the ground with a thud. I grab the luger and quickly shoot the guy on Eugen, allowing her to free herself and kill the others in the room. Finally, all the assassins have been dealt with just as soon as the Opera was coming to an end.
Eugen pants in rage as her main battery turrets focus on the dead bodies, making sure they're all dead. I try to catch my breath in case more show up. It was a trap after all. Then this letter…
I sniff the letter a little then listen in closely. Nothing. I throw the letter off the balcony and grab Eugen's hand.
"Come on! We're getting out of here!"
"Right!"
Eugen follows quickly behind with her rigging extended. I hold the stolen luger out in front of me as we cross the hallways we had just crossed earlier in much higher spirits. We successfully escape from the Opera House as the streets around turn to chaos. People in hoods throw torches onto the Opera house and start a large fire, slowly burning everything and everyone unlucky enough to be inside.
"Stop right there!" I shout to one of the hooded figures. As expected, he does not. Just before he turns the corner and escapes, I shoot his leg and he falls to the ground.
Eugen follows me to the captured resistance fighter and keeps watch to make sure I am safe. I pin him to the ground and throw the cape off of his head only to reveal a young woman with long blonde hair grunting in pain.
"I don't believe it. She's a Kansen." I state dumbfoundedly.
"Go to hell… Iron Blood dogs…" She spits on my face which causes Eugen to step on her face with her heel.
"You have no right to talk to my commander like that you pig."
"I will talk to him however I please. Go ahead. Finish the job."
