30th July 1991
Amy woke up, the early rays of the sun hitting her face brightly. Kuro barked happily at her, he looked so much older, Amy could barely lift him any more! It was going to be a sombre day. The day before, the Founders declared that today would be the end of her apprenticeship and they would leave.
It was sad really, even being long dead and portraits they had a special place in her heart. 6 years was more than enough for her to bond with them.
They taught her so much stuff, Amy was OWL level in all the wand subjects, Potions and Runes, but just above average in Herbology, Arithmancy and Astronomy. She was a Masters in CoMC but just not old enough for a Mastery. A few more years and she would get her Masteries in the other subjects.
She dressed in beautiful Persian blue colour. The Founders would invoke Magic so they would be able to meet her, but not for long. She was nervous and excited to meet them.
The journey down the stairs was a long one, even though it was only one floor. Her wand was in her sleeve and she knew that today would be the last time she would feel the warmth of the Magic in the wand.
She opened the heavy doors of the Library and her eyes rested on the familiar door that she'd opened as a five-year-old. Her hands rested on the knocker and she felt the cool of bronze. Her hand moved downwards and she traced the badger, the lion, the eagle and the snake. Amy took a deep breath and pushed the doors open.
Somewhere in Wiltshire, in a manor, sat a skinny boy of 11. In just 2 months, Draco Malfoy would go to Hogwarts. He would be free.
He wished his Mum was with him, he wished she would drop him off at the Platform instead of one of the house elves. A lone tear escaped his eyes, he rushed to wipe it and got up, he had to meet his father before he left.
The halls of Malfoy Manor were dark and silent, his footsteps echoed on the spotless oak floors. He stopped on a door and knocked silently.
"Come in, he drawled. Draco followed and sat on the armchair, his father motioned to. "I assume you know why you have been summoned," Draco nodded and Lucius continued, "You are still the blood heir of House Malfoy, you will go to Hogwarts and keep our legacy and authority in Slytherin. You will follow my footsteps, and I expect nothing but the best. I have eyes at the school so don't think that you can do anything. Calby shall take you to Diagon Alley and you will get your school supplies then. You may leave."
He had no wish to stay longer and left gracefully. He would keep his promise.
"I love you, Mum."
The room was the same and the Founders were all expecting her. 3/4 of the founders smiled warmly while the other sneered at them. Amy allowed herself a little smile, she would be among their magic, in their fortress.
"Amy," Godric said with a smile, "On time as usual, we will need you to put three drops of blood on the pedestal and we will do the rest."
She followed and watched patiently as Godric worked out a rather complicated ritual. She never understood rituals, they were like Potions in a way, but they were just not for her.
"Now, on the count of three, raise your wands!" They all immediately followed suite and raised their wands. The hum of the magic ringed in her ears as a wave of gold magic enveloped her into a whole new world.
She landed ungracefully face-first in a nondescript study. She helped herself up and looked at the Founders in awe. They were in front of her! Helga held out a hand, motioning for her to join them at a wooden table with 5 chairs. She took a seat at the head seat so she could see all of them at once.
"This ritual was used in the past to see ancestors and as your Potter blood is linked to mine I could initiate the ritual for you. The other Founders all have linked their Magic with me and I with them, so they would also be recognized as Gryffindors." That made sense.
"We need to talk to you about a few things, some we have observed for a long time but we were reluctant to share," That got her thinking. "We have decided that we can tell you the things as of now."
Rowena started, "We will tell you about the more stressful parts later but, for now, lets talk about some gifts!" Amy let her mood lighten but she felt a tingle of nervousness about the "stressful things" she smiled.
"Firstly, Helga said, "Our Birthday Gifts for you!" She was getting gifts from them! "I will start, Amy, please stand up and accept my gift. I, Helga of Hufflepuff, Founder of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, grant Amethyst Lily Potter the heirship of Hufflepuff and the Dagger of the Badger!" Helga let her blood fall on Amy's hand.
A flash of yellow Magic later, Amy found a holster in her hand made of old but sturdy letter and inside was a very clearly Goblin-made and beautiful. The blade itself was black metal and deadly but, the handle was the highlight with eye-catching ambers and amethysts. Amy hugged Helga, who responded with a warm hug herself.
"Thank you, Helga, that's such a beautiful gift and I can't believe you would actually give me your vault! Doesn't that go to an heir?" Helga sighed, "Out of the four of us I am the only one without an heir, and while I had married Isaac Smith, we never produced an heir before I died."
Well, then how could the Smiths flaunt that they were descendants of Helga Hufflepuff? That could be a good secret to know against the Smiths. She tucked it away for later uses.
A gentle cough from her right had her attention. Salazar Slytherin stood straight and stiff and gave her a nod. "I shall give you my present, but, should you hug me or anything of that sort, I will leave this place. Do I make myself clear?" Amy nodded in response, amusement evident on hers and everyone elses faces.
"Well then I, Salazar of Slytherin, Founder of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Potions Master, do hereby give Amethyst Lily Potter-Black the gift of Parseltongue and access to my personal quarters at Hogwarts." Amy wasn't the only one who stood with her mouth open.
Salazar Slytherin smirked, "Why don't you try your new gift?"
"Uh yah," the other Founders looked even more shocked. "What happened?"
"You hissed, you just spoke parseltongue!" She spoke in Parseltongue?! She didn't even realize, so it worked. Salazar had given her Parseltongue. She beamed.
"Thank you so much, Salazar, that was so thoughtful of you. I will be sure to visit your quarters at my time in Hogwarts."
"It shall be useful, I have kept everything under preservation charms, and you will find your way there."
Godric was getting impatient, "Right, so I don't know if I can top that but I will try," He took a breath, "I Godric of Gryffindor present Amethyst Lily Potter with aid. Whenever she shall need it, Hogwarts will protect her with my spirit. It will help her in the time of need."
It took Amy a moment to understand what she had just got. Whenever her life was in danger, Hogwarts would protect her.
"It can only be used once," Godric said, bringing her out of her thoughts. "If anything happens to you in the wall of Hogwarts, think of my spirit and Hogwarts' defences will come to your aid but, use it wisely."
It made sense and it was a very thoughtful gift and it showed Godric's trust, because he trusted her with reign over Hogwarts' Magic. She hugged him warmly, and so he hugged her. "I trust you to use it wisely."
Rowena stepped forward and took Amy's hand in hers, and Amy looked up in her brown eyes. "I've always wanted a daughter like you, and I lost her when I had the chance. I don't want to lose you, Amy."
A dagger popped up in her hand, and Rowena cut her hand and let the blood fall on Amy's. "I, Rowena of Ravenclaw, name Amethyst Lily Potter my heir and a daughter of my line."
And Amy cried with Rowena. Nobody interrupted them. Rowena cried for her lost daughter, she grieved for the time that she could've spent with Helena. Rowena got up and wiped her eyes.
"Helena didn't come through the veil, she is still with you at Hogwarts. Promise me Amy, will you tell her I was sorry? Will you tell her that her mother understands how she'd wronged her daughter." Amy nodded, emotion clogging her throat, making her unable to talk.
They hugged, and everyone waited in an awkward silence for Rowena to put herself together so they can talk about the serious thing.
"Amy, we felt something the first time you walked into the room of opportunities. While you learn really fast and have great control over your magic, your magic isn't that much above average. It felt wrong because your Magic is above average, we think that there is a bind on your magic."
That made no sense, how could someone put a bind on her without her knowing. "I don't understand, I don't feel anything, how is there a bind on me?"
"We don't know for sure, but we've put together some theories. Firstly, someone put a bind on you before you turned 4. Secondly, it might be a curse or a backlash of a curse that's binding your magic. We all know the events of Halloween 81 but maybe you might've suffered backlash from the killing curse."
Helga interrupted Rowena before she could drone on further about the theories. "The main point is that we have to remove this curse or binding without killing you or draining out all of your Magic. We thought that your Magic would mature, but it seems it hasn't, enough for us to try and remove your binding."
Amy took that all in, but she was still confused, she'd never heard that your Magic would mature. "Well then its simple isn't it, we just wait till my Magic matures and remove the binding. When will my magic mature?"
Godric coughed amusedly, and Helga glared at him. "Amy, your Magic matures with your body as it's a part of you. Witches tend to mature around 11 but it seems that you haven't right?"
Amy blushed furiously, she felt so stupid for asking that. "Uh no, umm no, no."
"So you have to wait till my Magic matures to remove it, but the problem is that you will be gone by the time my Magic actually matures."
They all nodded. "Well, there is nothing we can do about it right now without killing you or making you a squib. We hope that you remember about this thing on your magic and when your Magic does mature you can ask a Healer to help you."
That made sense, and there were lots of good healers whom she could trust with secrecy. Healer Kumar would certainly be able to do it and if it were a curse, Bill would help her.
"That is really all we have to say, and the ritual will end in ten minutes, so we should start with the goodbyes," Salazar informed half-heartedly.
They'd all come to love the child over the years, and she came and taught him how to smile and love. She made his heart mushy, like Godric and Helga.
Amy hugged everyone, including Salazar, who scoffed weakly but hugged her back. They all looked at her and the room disappeared.
Amy landed on the floor of the Manor Library. The door that always used to be there was gone, it was just books. Amy allowed herself to cry and think about all her good times with the four. She cried herself to sleep.
Remus watched Amy from the door, wondering how that tiny baby grew up so fast. He carried Amy upstairs to her room. He kissed her on the forehead and put the dagger in her bedside table. A reminder that his Cub wasn't normal.
A/N: This is Off to Hogwarts Part one, the next part will be Diagon Alley and then actually Hogwarts. If I added it, then the Chapters would be too long.
