Chapter 39 – Farewell

(Earth-1610)

The Secret Alchemax Facility (A Few Hours after The Destruction)

Miles Morales sat on a tree branch like owl staring at the forest with his eyes on the desolated Alchemax facility. He watches the ambulances, police cruisers arrive at the huge pit in the forest ten minutes after I exploded, and fire fighters putting out as much fire of what's left The Collider. If it wasn't for Liv's actions. Miles figured that she too is human and isn't some psycho. She just needed some sense put into her.

Miles finds four investigators huddling close to where Miles was from above. He flicks his web and reveals a mic, as he drops a mic it close to the bush and taps his mask.

"What chu got Nate?"

"Nothing. Nobody, No bodies. No survivors."

Miles brings his mic back and taps his mask and, he sighs. He drops into the dark forest and finds the rest of the gang waiting.

"No bodies at the site. She's gone" said Miles.

The group seemed taken a back after hearing, what Miles was able to do with Liv, actually get her into understanding what was the reality of the situation, and sacrificing her life to save trillions in this world.

"Wow." Miguel said, crossing his arms.

Gwen was resting on a dead log, she looked to be half a sleep, but her body was trembling from the aftershock. But She stands and joins the group as they walked together.

"Do we have to say goodbye again?" Porker jumps on Noir's shoulder.

"What ya'll mean? Is there a reason why I gave you those Goobers?" Miguel said.

"No(,) I know that. I mean about Miles."

Miguel looks to Miles and sees his wrist without a goober and gasps. "Oh! Hang on a sec!"

He activates his goober and opens a portal and was gone. Miles looks to the moon and sighs. Miles glances over to Gwen who was leaning over the tree and holder her waist.

"You alright there pal?" Miles pulls his Kevlar mask off, "You seem like you had a long day."

His face had some bruises and nose bleeds, but that new material seemed to hold up other than spandex.

Gwen huffs and coughs, "I'm alright. What about you?"

Miles took a moment to think about it, it seemed more what she was asking, "Yeah. Way Better. Way Better."

Gwen smiles and nods.

Porker sniffs. "Well. You know I got some sniffing to do. My stomach is going nuts!"

"For a pig your size it makes sense." Noir said.

Porker's face goes red.

"D'oh! I'll get you for that!" Porker activates his Goober. "When I return and eat all of your shit!"

"Eat my shorts!" Noir said.

"I'ah will return-ah!"

"Just go."

Porker rolls his eyes and enters the Vortex. It closes.

"Later kiddos. Hope to see you again."

Miles waves. Noir activates his goober and leaves.

Peni hops on her robot and activates her goober. "Thanks for breaking through Miles. Seriously though, don't go rogue."

Miles giggles. "I'll be fine Peni."

She waves. "Bye Guys. Lovebirds." She raises her eyebrows at Miles and Gwen, enters the vortex.

They couldn't help but raise their eyebrows.

"Do you know what she was talking about?" said Gwen.

"I have no idea what she was walking about."

A vortex opens and out came Miguel panting.

"Here ya go kiddo." He walks to Miles and hands him.

"A Watch?" He raises his eyebrow.

"A Watch? That's a goober! The thing that Gwen has!"

Miles looks at Gwen's goober, it was white, pink, and black, while his was black and red. He snaps it on as he glitches for a second. "Why now?"

Miguel sighs. "They got it first cause they matured more. Miles you struggled in your first years don't forget that, but, like what just happened today, with you and Liv, you earned it You deserve it. Sorry if I didn't give it to you any sooner."

Miles looks to the watch. "Thanks man."

"It's my pleasure." Miguel dials his goober. "Well! It's time for me to get going! Cya!"

Miguel enters the vortex and closes it.

Miles hears a loud ring and looks to his back. And sees ten miss calls from Rio. Shit! He puts his phone away.

"I gotta a long walk home. You should too." Miles turns to Gwen.

Gwen understood that, but dammit Miles had puppy eyes as if he wanted her to stay. He wanted her to stay. No Miles don't get creepy. Just be yourself. Be yourself son.

Gwen turns and activates her Goober, and the portal opens. She turns back to Miles. "Bye Miles."

"Yeah." Said Miles. Yeah? Yeah?

She turns back and puts a leg through. Screw It. Miles speeds to her and gives her a hug.

"Woah! Wo- oah! Okay, Pal. Ok." She felt that strong squeeze from her best friend. "Okay Pal. You're killing me."

Miles didn't realize there was still pain, in her as he releases her, "Oh sorry. Um."

"I'll come by. I just… don't know when." She said.

"Yeah, and if you need anything. I'll be there."

They both smile at each other, before Gwen gives him one final look and steps through the portal.

It closes.

Miles begins to turn and finds a highway. He finds a bus stop there. He puts on his Kevlar mask and limps all the way there. While he does that, He dials his mom.

"So. Did Spider-Man saved the world?" She said.

"Yeah. I'm on my way home."

"Okay Mio. But come in clean."

"Yes Ma."
