"So what can we expect from the target." Naruto asked as he adjusted his new uniform. It consisted of black tight cargo pants, boots, and A skin tight black long sleeve shirt. His shins, firearms and chest were covered by dark gray armor. His face was covered by a white face mask that Olga had given him years ago. It was in the design of a leering fox face. With whisker markings similar to the one's on his face. He and Natasha were going over his equipment newest features when the call for them to get ready for a mission came in from Fury. So now here he was in the back of a quinjet on their way to Stuttgart, Germany. With Captain America, while Natasha was their pilot.
"His name is Loki of Asgard," Steve told him. "According to Fury he appeared though some sort of portal and caused the destruction of a shield facility."
"So does Fury want this Loki brought in hot or cold." Naruto asked as he started going through his weapons, a standard 9mm handgun in a holster attached to his side of his left thigh. On the right was thigh was Was his throwing knives holster. Strapped to his back was a wakizashi and finally a utility belt with multiple compartments.
"Director Fury wants the criminal Loki brought in alive," Natasha quickly said not missing what the blonde was trying to say. "And in one piece."
"Spoil sport," Was all that Naruto said. Finally catching on to was he was saying Steve gave Naruto a disapproving look.
"This isn't a death squad, kid." Steve said told the blonde. The blonde's attitude was just one of the many things that had changed in the past few decades. The way the military now operated was a far cry from the 1940's mentality.
"Your going to have to speak up, I'm a bit death in this ear" Naruto said turning his head towards the star-spangled dressed man Acting like he hadn't heard what he said.
"Alright you two get ready we'll be arriving out side the museum in two minutes." Natasha said trying to stop the blondes from arguing. On the street below a crowd of terrified civilians for surrounded by four identical Loki's blocking their escapes.
"I said KNEEL!" While the crowd quietly kneels, Loki throw out his arms with a wide smile as he started to move through the crowd.
"Is not this simpler? Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."
"Not to men like you." It had been an elderly man who refused to kneel and stood heroic.
"Talk about the greatest generation." Naruto said through his earpiece as he was being fed live audio of what was happening in the small square by S.H.I.E.L.D as he moved into position. A minute before they were due to arrive outside the museum he had jumped out of the quinjet. And began to approach from the south side of town quickly making his way across the many rooftops on order to flank the Asgardian.
"There are no men like me." he could hear Loki say.
"There are always men like you." The old man said.
"Look to your elder, people. Let him be an example." As Loki was about to execute the man with his strange gold scepter as the light of it's jewel started to glow bright blue. Right as the energy beam shoots out, Steve arrived, diving in just in time to block the blast with his shield, and knocking down Loki.
"You know, the last time I was in Germany and saw a man standing above everybody else, we ended up disagreeing." Steve said as he stood.
"The soldier. A man out of time." Loki said as he pull himself up off the ground.
"Your the one who's out of time." Naruto called out as he had jumped down from the museum his wakizashi already drawn and being brought down in an arching swing for an attack. However Loki had managed to dodge to the side a second before the blade would have been driven through his shoulder. Quickly Naruto jumped back before the Asgardian could retaliate against him.
"What's this another pathetic mortal." Loki said as Natuto finally got a good look at the man. Tall and thin with green eyes and shoulder length black hair. The Asgardian was dressed in gold and green armor and large curved horn helmet.
"Loki, drop the weapon and stand down." From above the fight Natasha in the quinjet finally arrives, it's machine gun being pointed towards Loki.
Like greased lightning, Loki sends a blast of blue energy from his scepter at the quinjet. Natasha maneuvers it just in time, giving Steve the time need to throw his shield at Loki. They both began to duke it out. Naruto pulled out some throwing knives and just tell the three Loki illusions.
"Everything body clear out." He called out causing the crowd to scatter. Loki fling Steve to the ground. However Cap had been able to throws his shield, but Loki swats it away. As Cap is knocked down by Loki, the scepter is pointed to Cap's helmet.
"Kneel." Loki as he brought his weapon down. Looking around Natuto saw the iconic shield on the ground. With a quick jump he was able to pick it up and turning he tossed it through the air.
"Not today!" Steve flips up and grabbing his shield from the air using it to knock Loki back. Seeing a chance for an opening Naruto drew his watazaki once again entered the fight. Soon all three men were fight back and forth, but the Asgardian had a far greater straight then what his body showed.
"This guy's all over the place." Both Naruto and Steve could hear Natasha saying as she tried to get a clear shot. Suddenly loud music started blasting through the quinjet speakers, it was AC/DC's "Shoot to Thrill".
"Agent Romanoff, did you miss me?" All three men look up at the sky. Tony Stark was flying over in his red and gold Iron Man suit and blasts Loki right back to the ground. As the Iron Man touches down he stands up and pulls out every piece of weaponry the suit has.
"Make your move, Reindeer Games." Tony's slightly robotic sounding voice said. Loki just puts up his hands and surrenders. His gold and green armour materializes away leaving him in his stander dress.
"Good move." Said Tony as turns to look at Captain America.
"Mr. Stark." Steve greeted with a nod. Naruto meanwhile walked over towards Loki and roughly picking up the man he pushed him towards the other too with out saying a word.
"Captain." Tony said.
Once they were back inside the quinjet now joined by Tony they headed by to the Helicarrier. Natasha was watching the night skies outside a thunderstorm was quickly gathering. Suddenly a call came out through their headsets.
"Said anything?" It was Fury checking in.
"Not a word." Natasha said.
"Just get him here. We're low on time." And with that he ended the call. In the back of the quinjet Loki tied up and cuffed to his seat, with Naruto sitting silently across from him silent and his mask still on never looked away from Loki. Tony and Steve watch from a distance, whispering.
"I don't like it." Steve said feeling uneasy about the whole thing.
"What? Rock of Ages giving up so easily? Or Foxy-loxy never taking his eyes off him" Tony said looking over at the two.
"I don't remember it being ever that easy. This guy packs a wallop. And Agent Uzumaki not taking any chances on him trying to escape." Steve said.
"Still, you are pretty spry, for an older fellow. What's your thing? Pilates?" Tony said quickly changing the subject.
"What?" Steve said not sure what he was talking about.
"It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple things, you know, during your time as a Capsicle." Tony said with a bit of a eye roll.
"So dose the masked warrior have a name?" Loki finally asked with a slightly smirk. Instead of answering right away Naruto slowly turned his head from side to side. Finally making up his mind he about the man he extended his hand out In a friendly manner.
"Naruto Uzumaki, nice to meet you." The blonde finally said and to the the surprise of the others in the quinjet, Loki excepted a hand and shook his firmly.
"Loki of Asgard, future ruler of this world." The man said with the a wide smile.
"Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in." Steve said looking away from them and back to Tony.
"Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you." Tony said sarcastically as from outside the thunder and lightning of the storm picked up closer to the quinjet making it shake violently.
"Where's this coming from?" Natasha said trying harder to keep control of the quinjet. As the thunder overheard continued to intensify. Loki started to stair out the window intently.
"What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?" Steve said noticing the man's body language.
"I'm not overly fond of what follows." Loki said cryptically. Suddenly the ramp of the quinjet was ripped open. In steeped a tall muscular man with long blonde hair and dressed in similar clothes to Loki colored red and blue with silver metal pieces and a large hammer. They all watched as he grabs Loki by the throat and flies out. Steve and Tony are left dumbstruck, while Naruto looked in the direction the went and bringing up a hand gave a weak wave. Tony first to react puts the IRON MAN helmet back on.
"Now there's that guy." He said annoyed.
"Another Asgardian?" Asked Natasha.
"Think the guy's a friendly?" Said Steve.
"Loki know he was coming but wasn't looking forward to it." Naruto said finally turned back to look at the rest of them.
"Doesn't matter. If he frees Loki or kills him, the Tesseract's lost." Said Tony as he turns and gets ready to jump off the jet to give chase.
"Stark, we need a plan of attack!" The bullhead billionaire.
"I have a plan. Attack." Was his only respond and with that IRON MAN jumps out of the quinjet. Naruto still in his seat watches as Steve grabs a parachute to follow.
"I'd sit this one out, Cap." Natasha tried to warn having read Coulson's debrief on what happened in New-Mexico.
"I don't see how I can." Steve said finishing putting on the parachute.
"These guys come from legends, they're basically gods." Natasha tried once more to talk the man in to staying onboard the quinjet.
"There's only one God, ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." And with that Captain America was gone.
"Did he really just say that?" Naruto asked in disbelief as he moved to take a seat next to Natasha.
"He's old fashioned." Natasha said as he started to turn the quinjet inorder to follow. Putting on a pair of headphones Naruto hit a switch on the control console in order to help Natasha co-pilot the quinjet.
"Well let go see where he landed." Naruto said. It didn't take long before the had found the four hand and Loki who was sitting a top a high cliff face high above where Tony and the now introduced Thor had their pissing contest. If the ride before Thor had showed up was tense it had not been multiplied by five as they remain silent back to the Helicarrier. Tony had opted to fly ahead with the scepter leaving Natasha, Naruto, Steve, Thor who refused to let his brother out of his sights and Loki in the quinjet.
Back inside his designated lab on the Helicarrier Bruce Banner was having a much less action packed, but no less interesting time working alongside young Sunny Uzumaki. The seven year old girl hadn't been exaggerating in the slightest about her skills with a computer. In record time she had written a tracking algorithm with Bruce providing the necessary data on gamma rays. So that by the time two armed shield agents had brought Loki's scepter to the lab and they had already been able to single out many places where the tesseract wasn't.
"I-i-is that really from a-another world?" Sunny asked as she moved away from her workstation and took a few tentative steps towards Loki's scepter. All the while keeping her security blanket on like she had promised her dad she would. And that had been another thing that astonished Bruce.
When he had heard Naruto tell Sunny to keep her security blanket with her he literally thought the girl had packed a child's blanket.
In actuality Sonny's security blanket was a lightweight hooded Kevlar poncho rigged up with the same cloaking technology used to render the Helicarrier invisible. So unless sunny pull the hood down you would not be able to see her.
"Yeah, but with any luck it's energy signature should be able to help us isolate the location of the tesseract." Bruce said as he picked up his instruments it started scanning the Jewel of the scepter. However just then the sound of loud approaching footsteps caused the doctor to stop what he was doing.
"That's h-h-him isn't it." Sunny said when she saw a dozen armed shield police force members escorting Loki, who was in handcuffs, smiling. As they pass the the lab window,
"Loki." Bruce said as he stops working on the the scepter and looks up. Loki eyes him as he walks, nodding and smiling. Before turning to look at Sunny doing the same only this time giving her a small wave which completely unsettled the poor girl as she brought her hood up and completely vanished from sight.
"Dr. Banner please report to the bridge." The sound of the rooms intercom going off brought Bruce out if his thoughts.
"Come on Sunny if Loki's here that means you dad and aunt are back." And together the two left the lab with Sunny deciding to leave her security blanket in the lab.
"Dad y-y-your alright." Sunny called out happily as she ran up and hugged her father.
"Hey Sunny, were you good for Dr. Banner." Naruto asked as he picked the girl up before taking a seat at the round table in the bridge. He was still on full gear but his mask had been pulled off to the side of his head.
"She's a really prodigy, we already got the algorithm going through all the information being feed in to the Helicarrier's systems." Bruce said looking over at the little girl.
"That great," Natasha said as she took the seat next to Naruto."Good job munchkin." She then proceeded to pinch the girls cheek lightly.
"S-s-stop it auntie N-nat." Sunny said with a pout getting very embarrassed by all the attention the adults were giving her. That when she noticed the newest arrival.
"Sunny this is Thor, Thor my daughter, Sunny." Naruto said making the introductions.
"Greeting little one." Thor said giving Sunny a big smile. Looking past her father and up at the Asgardian Sunny gave a shy wave.
"All right looks like the show's starting." Naruto said as he drew everyone's attention to the monitors built into the table. On the screen they got a clear view of the detention area.
Loki now free from his cuffs was being contained in a any large circular glass cell. They were suspended off the ground by hydraulic rigs. Is it continued to watch they saw Fury stepping into the frame and moving towards the control panel of the cell.
"In case it's unclear. You try to escape. You so much as scratch that glass," Furry said as he presses a button which opens up a hatch underneath Loki's cell. Loki peers as much as he can from within the glass cell.
"Thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works?!" Fury closes the hatch. Points at Loki.
"Ant," then he points at the button which would drop Loki into the steel trap. "Boot."
"It'san impressive cage. Not built, I think, for me." Loki said with a smirk seemingly unaffected by Fury's statement.
"Built for something a lot stronger than you." Fury said taking a step closer to the cell.
"Oh, I've heard," Loki then looks into the camera. " The mindless beast, makes play he's still a man. How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?"
"How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control. You talk about peace and you kill cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did." Fury said in an icy tone.
"Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is." Loki taunted with a smirk. Having heard enough Fury just turned around and began to leave the room.
"Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something." The director called back over his shoulder. Once alone Loki takes one last look into the camera smirking.
Back on the bridge Steve watches until the monitor goes black. Thor, who didn't even look, just listened, stands there, torn apart. Both Naruto and Natasha had subconsciously held on to one of Sunny's hands. They all just stand there in stunned silence.
"He really grows on you, doesn't he?" Bruce finally said being the first to break the silence.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Steve asked hoping the man could give them some insight into his brother's way of thinking.
"He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract." Thor finally said turning to face them.
"An army? From outer space?" Steve asked in disbelief.
"So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for." Bruce said beginning to put together the pieces of Loki's plan.
"Selvig?" Thor asked clearly not expecting to hear that name associated with his brothers.
"H-he's an a-a-astrophysic-c-cist." Sunny said having remembered reading the name in the deep briefing file she had come across when she was accessing SHIELDS system.
"He's a friend." Thor said.
"Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours." Natasha informed the Asgardian.
"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Steve said still feeling uneasy about their last engagement.
"He wants something that much is clear," Naruto said and is everyone trying to look at him he elaborated. "He has agent Barton under his control so there isn't really much about shield he doesn't already know or can get his hands on. So most likely he's here because he wants something you can only get inside the Helicarrier." At he finished an uneasy feeling fell over them.
"I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him." Bruce said trying to change the subject.
"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother." Thor said standing up for his brother.
"He killed eighty people in two days." Natasha said with a raised eyebrow.
"He's adopted." Thor said quickly backpedaling.
"I think it's about the mechanics. Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?" Bruce asked.
"It's a stabilizing agent," Looking over they all saw Tony walking in with Coulson. "Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at SHIELD."
"No hard feelings, Point Break. You've got a mean swing." Tony said as he gave Thor a light pat on his arm before walking up to the control area.
"That means the p-p-portal can open as wide, and s-s-stay open as long, as Loki wants." Sunny said referring to the Iridium.
"Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails. That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did." Tony said before covering his eye, looks around. "How does Fury do this?"
"He turns." Agent Hill said as she watched the man closely. Tony continued to look around the monitors before walking over to the table. As he did this Naruto watched him places a something under Fury's desk, without anyone noticing.
"Well, that sounds exhausting. The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube." Tony said before stopping to take a look at Naruto and Sunny.
"When did you become an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics?" Agent Hill a bit sceptical.
"Last night. The packet, Selvig's notes, the Extraction Theory papers. Am I the only one who did the reading?" Tony said looking around at everyone.
"Does Loki need any particular kind of power source?" Steve asked understanding that much.
"He's got to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier." Bruce said
"Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect." Tony added on.
"H-he could achieve Heavy Ion F-f-fusion at any reactor on the p-p-planet." Sunny said looking to Dr. Banner realizing what Tony said could mean.
"Finally, people who speak English." Tony said.
"Is that what just happened?" Steve asked to which Naruto just brought his hand up to his head and made and exploding gesture with sound effect.
"It's good to meet you, Dr. Banner. Your work on anti-electron collisions is unparalleled. And I'm a huge fan of the way you lose control and turn into an enormous green rage monster." Tony and Banner shake hands. A glimmer in their eyes shines as the mutual respect for each other shows.
"Thanks." Bruce said sounding a bit dejected.
"And you little miss Sunshine," Tony said turning to Sunny. "Are easily one of the top five smartest people I've ever met before. So how come I've never heard of you two." He said looking from the young blonde to the older blonde.
"I like to keep my family out of the public eye." Naruto said plainly. However from the look on Tony's face this wasn't a good enough answer.
"Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him and Miss. Uzumaki." Fury said walking in to the bridge.
"Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon." Steve said remembering the blue energy from earlier.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys." Fury said quickly dodging the question.
"Monkeys? I do not understand." Thor said looking around in confusion.
"I do! I understood that reference." Steve said sounding proud of himself, Tony and Naruto both roll their eyes.
"Shall we play, doctor and -" Tony just realized he didn't know the girls name.
"Sunny, and yes let's play some." Bruce said as Sunny got out of her seat.
"Keep an eye on the kid." Natasha said as they started to leave the bridge.
"I don't babysit." Tony quickly remarked.
"Actually I was talking to Sunny." At this both Steve and Naruto laughed a little while Sunny try to hide her giggles, even Bruce chuckled a bit. Once they were goin Fury turned to look at Natasha.
"Agent Romanoff, I'm going to need you to question our gest see what he wants." Nodding Natasha stood from her seat.
"Want to come?" She asked Naruto but he just shook his head.
"Pass, I've been out of practice and besides I don't think you want me to make a mess." Naruto said as he walked over to the main controls and as they all watched him he pulled off the bug that Stark had planted.
"You should really keep a better eye on the place." He said tossing it to Fury and walking out of the Bridge.
Back in the lab Bruce, Tony, and Sunny were working on the scepter. Bruce was continuously scans the scepter with a gamma ray detection scanner. Tony looks at his monitors, shifting through equation while Sunny typed away with her as many algorithms.
"So Sunny right?," Tony said getting the girls attention from off her work. "I doubt Shields in the business of hiring kids, so how'd you end up on this boat."
"Tony I don't think you should be asking her that?" Bruce tried to interject already having gained some fondness for the little girl.
"I'm just a little curious I'm not asking for the kids' social security number." Tony said brushing off Bruce's concerns. Seeing no real harm so he decided to answer.
"I-i came with my d-d-dad, he used t-to work for shield. I'm good with computers so I-Im helping Dr. Banner." Sunny said as got back to work.
The gamma readings are definitely consistent with Selvig's reports on the Tesseract. But it's gonna take weeks to process." Bruce said getting back to work.
"You know, you two should come by STARK TOWER sometime. Top ten floors, all RD. You'd love it, it's candy land." Tony said with a smile as he walked back towards Bruce.
"Thanks, but the last time I was in New York I kind of broke...Harlem." Bruce said quietly.
"Well, I promise a stress free environment. No tension. No surprises." Suddenly, Tony pokes Banner with a miniature electrical prod. Just as Naruto and Steve walk in to the lab.
"OW!" Bruce called out as Tony looks at him closely.
"Hey!" Steve said sounding pissed.
"Nothing?" Tony said.
"Are you nuts? Theirs a kid in here." Steve said while Naruto walked over to Sunny.
"You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?" Tony asked still focused on Bruce.
"Hey how you feeling about being here." Naruto asked Sunny in a low voice as Tony and Steve started to argue.
"T-t-this lab is a-a-amazing and Dr. Banner is n-n-nice." Sunny said with a smile which Naruto was glad about. These past few hours had been a bit hectic and he had had time to really see his daughter.
"Good just, just let me know when you feeling hungry okay." Naruto said with a smile as he rubbed the top of her head.
"Steve, tell me none of this smells a little funky to you? And what about you Naruto you clearly don't trust Fury." Bruce said trying to get the man's opinion on the issue.
"I don't trust Fury anymore, but at the moment he's the guy who's going to pay my bill, so that's that." Naruto said
"So your just a mercenary, it that all this is to you a paycheck." Steve demanded Naruto just shrugged his shoulders.
"Yeah, but I'm getting more than money this time." That's when he showed them what Sunny was working on with her computer. The screen she was working on showed that she was already inside shields secured files and was copying them. "Sorry Stark I gave Fury your little bug you left on the bridge. I don't need anyone getting more then me." At this Tony pulled out his phone and finally noticed that Jarvis was no longer hacking in to shield anymore.
"Ha, son of a b-" Tony was about to say at being out done by the blond and his kid, but was cut short my Naruto.
"Hey watch the language." Naruto said having brought his hands up to cover Sunny's ears.
"M-mr. Rogers y-y-you should go to S-s-sub storage 3 there's s-s-s-something you need to see." Sunny said looking over at the super solider. At the revelation that the little girl had for the past few hours been going through the most secure files that shield possess was a bit of a shock to say the least.
"Don't give me that look Cap," Naruto said as he was getting a dirty look from the man. " Fury said it himself he knows the way this game goes. I'm just looking out for my family and making sure I have an out."
"Just find the cube." Steve said storming out of the lab. Still torn apart by the possibility, he walks away, towards the hull of the ship.
"What's in the sub storage 3?" Tony asked curious about what the girl found.
"W-w-what's it worth to you to k-k-know Mr. S-s-s-tark." Sunny said at this Naruto gave a cry of joy as he hugged his daughter.
"My baby's first sale of international top secret information I'm so proud." Naruto said gushing over the girl.
"I haven't agreed to anything." Tony said
"You will," Naruto said fixing the man with a foxy grin. "Someone like you Stark always have to know." At this this Tony gave the blonde a hard look before turning away to work. Looking over at father and daughter smiling at each other Bruce could really see a similarity between the two
