"So sure you really for this?" Steve asked as he sat across from masked blonde. Both men were going over their gear one more time, upfront was Clint and Natasha.
"Don't worry Cap, I finally realized I can't run from this fight anymore," Naruto said. "Besides I made a promise to keep my little girl safe can't do that if the world gets taken over by Loki." After a few more minutes of flying, they had finally reached Manhattan Island at the heart of which was STARK Tower, with a blue sky beam that was holding open a portal where the chitauri were coming out of.
"Stark, we're heading northeast." They could all hear Natasha's voice coming through their earpieces.
"What did you stop for drive-thru? Swing up Park, I'm gonna lay 'em out for you." They could all hear Tony's voice coming through. As Clint skillfully flow through the city they all saw Tony in his suit quickly fly past them. Natasha takes a hold of the controls and starts firing the quintet's machine gun. Pulling up they climbed past the STARK Tower where they could now see Thor and Loki battling savagely.
"Yeah, I got eye's on the target," Clint said as he brought the quinjet level.
"See them," Natasha said as she starts to fire the machine gun at the Asgardian. Loki aims the scepter at the quinjet and fires a blast of energy at them.
"Watch out," Naruto said as Clint banks them hard to the left. Meanwhile, Thor gets to his feet, tackling Loki down hard. one of the quintet's engines was hit as soon catches fire. Clint maneuvers them as the quinjet spin and slow.
"Everyone hold on tight this is going to be close," Clint said as they were now dropping out of the air as it passes over skyscrapers. Then... they crash into the street. With everyone okay, they all quickly exit the quinjet
Moving through the city they soon arrived in the middle of a four-way street high above them they all stop as from within the portal a chitauri leviathan flies out. As it moves in-between the building chitauri soldiers launch off of it and attach themselves to the sides of the buildings, sliding down. Some crash into these buildings.
"Stark, are you seeing this?" Steve called out as he watches the armored space whale drift overhead.
"seeing, still working on believing. Where's Banner? Has he shown up yet?" Tony asked
"Banner? Steve asked wondering if he heard the man correctly.
"Just keep me posted." And with that Tony cut that call.
"Those people need assistance down there," Steve said as they all watch Loki atop a chitauri hovercraft laying waste to the streets below. Soonchitauri soldiers that had landed near them start to fire. Natasha pulls both of her pistols and fires.
"We got this. It's good. Go!" Natasha said
"You think you can hold them off?" Steve ask
"Captain," Clint pulls a trigger on his bow; an arrow is mechanically chosen. "It would be my genuine pleasure."Clint shoots an arrow into a chitauri's head. They watch as Steve jumps over the side of the bridge.
"We still got people on the bridge, cover me," Naruto said as he takes a second to focus, his eyes begin to glow blue before in a flash of dull gray light he vanished from behind the taxi they were using for cover and reappears right next to the buss some thirty feet away.
"Kids still got it," Clint called out as he and Natasha open fire on the chitauri. Natasha emptiesher clips while Clint fires arrows into the ranks of the chitauri, hitting his mark each time he shoots.
"Don't worry I'll get you out," Naruto said as he pulled out his sword and in two quick slashes removers the bus's side door allowing people to escape.
"Just like Budapest all over again!" Natasha called out as she keeps firing at the chitauri.
"You and I remember Budapest very differently." That was all that Clint said. A few minutes later and Naruto had slashed back to their covered location.
"Bridge is clear, we're the only ones left," Naruto said as he pulled out his handgun and started to open fire.
"How you holding up," Natasha asked her brother as they kept on firing at the chitauri.
"Getting hungry, haven't flashed stepped in a long time," Naruto said as he throws a knife right into the head of a chitauri. Before its body could even hit the ground he flashed over to it withdrew his knife from its skull and quickly jabbed it through the neck of two more chitauri before flashing back next to Natasha. All of this happened in no less than five seconds.
"Show off," Natasha said smirking at the blonde.
When Steve finally made it back to the bridge he was glad to see the three shield agents holding off the chitauri without issue.
Clint had just tripped a chitauri soldier and rammed an arrow down its throat. Natasha had gotten her hands on a chitauri energy rifle and starts to take them out. The biggest surprise of all was Naruto moving up and down the bridge in a flash of light cutting down chitauri with his sword.
Steve joins back in and using his shield, swaps, and whacks oncoming chitauri soldiers. Soon lightning strikes down from the sky, striking down the remainder of the chitauri as thor touches down.
"What's the story upstairs?" Steve asked looking at the Asgardian.
"Thepower surrounding the cube is impenetrable," Thor said
"Thoris right. We gotta deal with these guys." Tony's voice called in through their earpiece.
"How do we do this?" Natasha asked as she started to reload her guns.
"As a team," Steve said looking around at them confidentiality.
"I have unfinished business with Loki," Thor said.
"Yeah, get in line." Clint bit back coldly as he moved around collecting arrows. There was a sudden flash of light and Naruto reappeared with his mask pulled to the side and his arms full of several sports drinks and protein bars.
"Had to get something to eat, what I miss," Naruto asked as he started to quickly eat.
"Nice armor," Clint commented as he looked over at Naruto who had thrown some chitauri shin and arm guard as well as a chest plate on over his Shield gear.
"Thanks," Naruto said through a mouth full of food as he quickly flashed next to Thor when Natasha tried to grab one of his drinks. "Mine."
"Naru, share," Natasha said warningly to the blonde as she reached for her guns.
"Save it. Loki's gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need." Steve cut in. "Without him, these things could run wild. We got Stark up top, he's gonna need us…" however, he stopped when from down the street making his way towards them was Banner on a small motorcycle.
"So, this all seems horrible," Bruce said as he stepped off the bike and took a look around the damaged city.
"I've seen worse," Natasha said with a knowing look.
"Sorry," Bruce said looking down at the ground a bit ashamed.
" No. We could use a little worse." Natasha said.
"Stark? We got him." Steve called into his earpiece.
"Banner," Tony asked. "Tell him to suit up. I'm bringing the party to you." Looking down the street they see Iron Man flying ta corner with a chitauri leviathan follows close behind him.
" I don't see how that's a party…" Natasha said as Iron Man swoops down the street. The chitauri leviathan also swoops down, barreling down the street like a freight train that keeps building and building in its intensity.
"Dr. Banner. Now might be a really good time for you to get angry." Steve said getting a bit anxious.
"That's my secret, Captain. I'm always angry." The small man said as his body starts to swell and stretch and harden. His body grows more and more as his skin started to turn green. They all watched as The Hulk punches the chitauri leviathan in the nose causing it to come to a stop and start to flip over. Iron Man, in mid-flight, extends his arm out and as a pin missile flys from his wrist and hits a soft spot large leviathan's armor blowing to bits. The rest of them had to take cover as large chunks of alien whale meat flow everywhere. All around them the remaining Chitauri the were hanging from the sides of buildings were looking down at them as the team finally came together to stair right back.
Suddenly high above the portal, hundreds more chitauri soldiers and even more chitauri leviathans fly out. Back down on the bridge, The Avengers look up ready to fight.
"Guys," Natasha said a bit concerned.
"Call it, Cap," Tony said finally ready to follow orders.
"Alright, listen up. Until we can close that portal up there, we're gonna use containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back, or your turn it to ash." Steve called out clearly in his element on the battlefield.
"Wanna give me a lift?" Clint asked as he turned to Tony.
"Right. Better clench up, Legolas," they watch as the two of them take off into the sky.
"Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow them down. You've got the lightning. Light the bastards up." At this Thor flies off. Steve turns to Natasha "You and me, we stay here on the ground, keep the fighting here. Naruto I'm going to need you running blitz get in from behind and hit 'em fast and Hulk smash." That the same time as Hulk jumped high into the air Naruto pulled his mask down and focusing he took off in a flash.
All over the city, the Avengers were taking the fight to the Chitauri as most of the civilians had been removed from the streets. Moving through the city Naruto flashing all over the place everywhere he appeared three or four chitauri would fall dead to the ground. As the team fought together Naruto found himself side by side with Steve as he would toss his shield Naruto would me moving through the chitauri throwing back to the man. Next, he flashed high in the air where Tony would grab a hold of his arms spinning him quickly before launching him right at some chitauri hover crafts.
And so the fighting when on but the length of the battle was taking its toll on Naruto as he was finding it harder and harder to flash step feather and feather away to reach a target. He had just appeared behind a squadron of chitauri and made quick work of three I'd them with his sword. However, hem he tried to flash away he wants able to go more than two feet. Think quickly he pulled out his last knives as throw them into the skulls of two chitauri, next he brought his sword and started to fight another as he tried to keep out of reach of the last two. Finally seeing an opening he drove this sword through the chitauri to the hilt. This left him open to get hit in the back by some energy blast. Grabbing the chitauri he had just stabbed he pushed him forward and stabbed another chitauri. He was suddenly knocked off balance as the last chitauri decked him across the jaw. Turning as he fell to the ground he pulled out his handgun he emptied the clip in the last chitauri causing its corpse to fall on top of him.
"I can close it! Can anybody hear me? I can shut the portal down!" Natasha's voice came through his earpiece
"Do it!" Said Steve.
"No, wait!" It was Tony's panicked voice that came in next.
"Stark, these things are still coming!" Steve said
"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it." Tony said. Tossing the dead chitauri off of him Naruto pulled his sword out of the two corpses see he started to head back over to the main bridge. Lookingup Naruto sees Tony holding the massive rocket on his back climbing higher and higher over the city, gaining speed, suddenly flings himself through the portal. Backon the bridge, Naruto spots Thor and Steve looking up that the portal.
"Close it," Steve called out through the earpiece. Naruto looked up and didn't see Tony anywhere till suddenly just as the portal closed something fell back through.
"Son of a gun!" Steve said with a smile however they all watched as Tony keeps falling faster and faster.
"He's not slowing down," Thor said as he starts to swing Mjölnir around
"I got no juice left to makes that high up," Naruto told Steve and just as Thor was about to fly up, The Hulk snags Tony out of the air, both crashing and sliding down a building. Hulkthrows Tony off him. Thor, Naruto, and Steve run over to him. Thor rips off Tony's helmet. He appears to be dead. They stand around not sure. Then... The Hulk yells in fury. the noise startles Tony awake.
"What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me?" Tony said in a panic as he looked at all of them.
"We won," Steve said with a tired sigh at them Tony suddenly smiled.
"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it."
"We're not finished yet," Thor said looking up at Stark Tower
"And then shawarma after," Tony said hopefully.
Two weeks had passed after the battle against the chitauri and The Avengers had gathered once again at Central Park. Already waiting for them were Thor and Loki, who is handcuffed and muzzled. Thor shakes hands with the team and hugs Selvig. Tony opens Tesseract's case. Banner takes it out and places it inside a glass tube, held by Thor. Thor gives Loki the other end, who reluctantly takes it. The Asgardians leap into the energy beam. GONE. Then, one by one, the group splinters off, strolling in different directions. Banner climbs in with Tony in his sportscar. Steve rides away in his Harley. Natasha and Clint climb back into SHIELD cars. Naruto with Sunny in hand start to wake through the park.
"So Sunny this is your first time in New York, anything you want to see?" Naruto asked as they walk along a paved trail all around Sunny was looking amazed at the park.
"C-c-can we go t-t-o the zoo?" Sunny asked her father hopefully.
"Hmmm," Naruto said as he brought his hand up and scratched his chin in thought "Sure we got a week before we have to report back to Shield," Naruto said smiling down at the girl.
