Steve and Tony sit up Steve tells Tony to put the suit on, now worried instead of threatening.
Tony agrees and tries to stand, Steve helps him up.
Fury sits up, breathing heavily. Over comms, he asks for Maria.
Maria says that there's been an external detonation and that the 3rd engine is down.
"I'm sorry." Clint said.
"It wasn't your fault and you know that, don't blame yourself." Natasha said.
An agent says that they've been hit.
Maria asks if they can get it running.
Another says that there's a fire in engine 3.
Hill tells him to talk to her.
The agent says that the turbine looks like its intact but it's impossible to get in while they're in the air.
Maria says that if they lose another engine they won't be.
"This is just terrible, nothing can go right for you guys can it?" Quill asked.
Maria says that someone's gotta get outside to patch the engine.
Fury asks Tony if he copies.
Tony says he's on it.
Fury tells Coulson to initiate defensive lockdown in the detention section and to go to the armory after. Coulson rushes down a set of stairs.
Fury asks about Natasha. Natasha is trapped under debris with Bruce, who is breathing heavily she tells him that they're okay.
"Something tells me you won't be soon, though." Stephen said.
She asks Bruce if they're okay.
"Oh no."
Clint and his group of agents drop down into the heli-carrier. He tells an agent to keep the engine down and tells another to go to dention but to wait for the cameras to go dark.
Clint avoided looking at the screen.
Steve and Tony are running through the ship. Tony tells Steve he'll meet him at engine 3.
'Why did I have to ask the one guy who wasn't around for the evolution of technology to help me?' Tony asked himself.
He pulls out his phone, presses a few buttons and a wall opens up, revealing his suit.
Bruce and Natasha are still trapped. Bruce groans. She tells him that he needs to fight it because its what Loki wants.
Two agents rush into the room. Natasha waves them off, they leave. She tells Bruce that they're going to be okay. She says that she swears on her life that she'll get him out of this and he'll walk away.
Bruce growls, turning green. He starts turning into the hulk. Hulk roars.
"Oh shit." Everyone who wasn't on that heli-carrier said.
Natasha finally frees herself. She stands up, Hulk sees her. She runs up a flight of stairs. Hulk rips off the staircase.
Bruce also avoided looking at the screen.
The hulk roars again. Loki hears and lifts his head and grins.
"You had a shitty plan." Fury said.
"It worked out for a while did it not?" Loki asked.
"That's not what I meant and you know it." Fury said.
Fury makes his way to the bridge. He says to take the carrier over water.
An agent says that navigation is re-calibrating because of the engine failure.
Fury asks if the sun is coming up.
The agent says it is.
Fury tells him to put it on the left and get them over water. He says that if another turbine goes down they drop.
"You don't have to be so mean to them, you know." Maria said.
"Then they should do their jobs." Fury responded.
Steve opens the door to get to the engine. He tells Tony that he's there. Tony flies over to the wreckage.
Tony says that he needs to get the superconducting cooling system back online before he can access the rotors. 3D images of the wreckage appear inside of his helmet. He tells Steve that he needs to get to the engine control panel so he can tell him which relays are in overload.
"No offence to Steve, but he's probably the last person you should have brought out there to help you." Shuri said.
"No offence taken I am hopeless when it comes to modern technology." Steve said.
Steve jumps up to the control panel and Tony makes his way to the engine. Steve opens the panel up. Red flashing lights appear. Tony asks what it looks like in there.
Steve says that it seems to run on some form of electricity.
"I rest my case." Shuri said.
Tony says that he isn't wrong.
A few people, namely the scientists laughed.
Natasha is sneaking around the ship, gun in her hand. She turns around to see Hulk. He roars.
A few people flinched at the sudden noise. "That scared the shit out of me." Peter said.
"Language." Steve reprimanded, kids should not be swearing.
"Oh, sorry. Eso me asustó muchÃsimo." Peter corrected himself. The teenagers laughed.
Natasha shoots at him but hits the pipe above him. She starts running. Hulk starts chasing her, she runs faster. He catches up to her and smacks her into a wall.
A few people cringed. That looked like it hurt pretty bad.
Hulk goes to hit her but Thor tackles him through the wall.
"My hero." Natasha joked.
There's a large group of agents in that room, they all start running. Hulk tries to punch Thor, who's dodging. Thor then punches him in the face. Hulk goes to hit him on the head, Thor holds his hand in place. he tells Hulk that they're not their enemies and calla him Banner. He tells Hulk to try and think.
"He doesn't really like being called that." Bruce said.
Hulk throws him away. Tony finally makes his way to the turbine. Steve says that the relays are intact and asks what the next move is.
Tony says that even if he can clear the rotors it won't re engage without a jump. he says that he's going to need to get in there and push.
"That is a horrible idea." Strange said.
Steve says that he'll get shredded if it gets up to speed.
"Hence, why it is a horrible idea." Strange continued.
Tony says that the stator control unit can reduce polarity long enough to disengage maglev.
Steve tells him to speak English.
"That is English." Shuri said.
"No that's weird freaky science English." Rhodey said.
Tony rolls his eyes, exasperated and asks Steve if he sees the red lever.
"He said English not toddler." Sam said.
Tony says that the lever will slow the rotors long enough for him to get out. He tells Steve to stand by ot and wait for his word.
Thor gets thrown into a stack of cases. He stands up, crouched and holds his hand out, calling Mjolnir. When Mjolnir finally gets to him, he hits Hulk in the jaw with it. He falls into a plane. He rips the wing off of the plane and throws it at Thor, who slides under it. He throws Mjolnir at Hulk, who grabs it and goes flying with it. He tries to lift it but can't.
"Congratulations, you've pissed him off even more." Valkyrie said.
Thor kicks him in the face and picks up the hammer and puts Hulk in a choke-hold. Fury says that they need a full evacuation on the lower hanger bay.
Hill walks off, an explosive slides into the room. She yells 'grenade' and it blows up.
"Worse and worse." Rocket said.
2 of Clint's agents walk into the room. Fury lets one pass, then disarms the other one. Then knocks them both out. A 3rd agent enters, Hill shoots him. Coulson is walking toward the detention area.
An agent says that there's a premier breach and there are hostiles in SHIELD gear.
Hulk jumps through the ceiling, taking Thor with him, Hulk snatches him up
Another agent says that Hulk and Thor are on level 4 and that levels 2 and 3 are dark.
Maria sas that Hulk will tear the helicarrier apart.
"Sorry Dr. Banner." Maria apologized.
"No, its fine, I get that a lot." Bruce said.
Fury says to get the Hulk's attention.
A plane flies up to the heli-carrier. The pilot says that the target's acquired.
Hulk picks up Thor and throws him into a wall. The pilot says that the target's engaged and he starts shooting. The pilot says that the target's angry. Hulk jumps onto the plane.
"Well, what did he think was going to happen!?" Scott asked.
Hulk tears the plane apart. The pilot ejects, Hulk throws him, he activates his parachute. The plane explodes, Hulk is sent flying back.
"At least the pilots okay." Bruce said quietly.
Tony uses lasers to dislodge the debris. Two of Clint's agents walk over to where Steve is. One tries to throw a grenade, Steve jumps and hits it out of the way before it blows up.
'So that's why he took so long' Tony realized.
He knocks an agent down and takes the other and throws him off. A 3rd enters and starts shooting. Steve throws something, the agent dodges. Steve jumps and grabs a gun, and starts shooting at the agent. Fury shoots an agent that tries to get to the bridge. Clint shoots an explosive arrow into the room. Then one that crashed the computers.
Natasha sensed Clint's discomfort and rubbed his arm a couple times.
Another engine powers down. An agent calls it.
"You really can't catch a break." Quill said.
"I wish you'd stop reminding us of that." Fury said.
The heli-carrier starts falling. An agent says that they lost all power in engine 1.
Fury says that Clint took out their systems and that he's headed for the detention level. He asks if anyone copies.
Natasha is still sitting by a case, she's shaking. She says that she copies.
Fury tells Tony that they're losing altitude.
Tony says he noticed starts pushing the rotors. Steve is still shooting at the agent, he almost falls off the platform but grabs a rope.
Thor runs to where Loki's cell is. The door is opening.
"Son of a bitch." Rocket said.
Loki steps out. Thor yells and runs to stop him. But that Loki isn't Loki and Thor gets trapped in the cell.
The real Loki is standing outside of the cell. He asks Thor if he's ever not going to fall for that.
Despite the situation a few people couldn't help but laugh.
"It only took about 500 years." Loki says.
Clint is walking through the ship. Natasha appears behind him. Clint turns around, Natasha grabs the bow as he is about to shoot, causing him to miss. She twists his arm an and he kicks her. She dodges and kicks him, then slides to the deck below. Clint follows, she kicks him. He shoots again and misses, as swings around on a pole.
"See you missed again." Natasha points out. "So once again your subconscious recognizes someone as an important person."
They continue fighting. Natasha grabs the string on his bow. Then wacks him in the face, causing him to let go of it. He pulls out a knife.
"Oh dear."
Thor hits the glass with his hammer, cracking it. The cell shakes. Loki smiles and walks over to the control panel. Loki says that the humans think they're immortal and asks Thor if they should test that.
"No. No you definitely should not." Sam said, knowing he was most likely going to anyway.
Coulson knocks out one of the agents. He's holding a large gun in his hands. He asks Loki to move away.
Loki and Coulson were starting to look a little ill at ease.
Loki complies. Coulson asks if he likes the weapon. He says that they started working on the prototype after he sent the destroyer. He says that even he doesn't know what it does and asks Loki of he'd like to find out.
"You guys will make weapons out of anything won't you?" Hank asked.
The real Loki is actually behind Coulson. He stabs him with the scepter.
The avengers all looked livid, so what of Coulson didn't die, the bastard still stabbed him.
Thor screams. Coulson falls to the floor. Loki walks over to the control panel again, he opens the floor and his hand hovers over the eject button. He presses it and the cell drops.
Loki stood up and walked over to Thor. "I know you have no reason to believe me but I do apologize for... dropping you out of the sky." He says. "And you all hate me but I am sorry for killing your friend." Loki said, not knowing that Coulson wasn't dead. He sat back down.
Natasha stared at him, seeing remorse on his face, she nodded but said nothing.
Natasha and Clint are still fighting. She twists his arm. Clint has a knife pointed at her neck, her head is bent back to keep it away. She bites him.
"You bit him?" Tony asked, incredulously.
She flips around him and his head gets slammed into a bar. He groans and struggles to get back up. He says Natasha's name Natasha knocks him out.
"Why did you knock him out?" Scott asked, he thought Clint was fine after the first hit.
"His eyes were still blue, better to be safe than sorry." Natasha said.
Thor is still falling, he gets bounced around the cage before finding even footing against one of the walls and breaks out before it hits the ground. Loki takes his hand off the control panel.
Coulson tells Loki that he's going to lose.
Loki turns around and questions him.
Coulson tells him that its in his nature.
Loki reminds him that his heroes are scattered and their floating fortress is falling from the sky. He asks where his disadvantage is.
"Floating fortress?" Tony asked, thinking that was a cooler name than heli-carrier. Of course he didn't share his opinion.
"That is true." Rocket said.
Coulson tells him that he lacks conviction.
"That is also true." Rocket said.
"So you knew too?" Fury asked, wondering how he himself never caught that.
"It was all in the way he was acting, sir." Coulson said.
Loki looks angry. He says he doesn't think he- Coulson shoots him with his destroyer weapon. Loki gets knocked back.
Coulson muses over finally knowing what the weapon does.
The SHIELD agents and Avengers laughed.
Tony is still pushing the rotors. They start picking up speed. The heli-carrier starts to stabilize. He tells Steve to get the lever.
Steve says he needs a minute.
"There's no time for a minute." Shuri said.
Tony, anxiously, tells him to get the lever. Steve is still getting shot at by the agent. Tony's hands fall away from the rotors and he gets pressed up against another one he gets sucked underneath them. Steve finally pulls the lever. Tony falls out and struggles to stabilize himself.
A few people let out breaths they hadn't known they'd been holding.
He flies over to Steve and tackles the agent. He falls onto his hide. Loki flies off in another ship.
"Dammit."
Fury kneels in front of Coulson. Coulson apologizes and says that Loki rabbeted.
Fury tells him to stay awake.
Coulson says he's clocking out.
Fury tells him that that's not an option.
Coulson says it's okay and that it was never going to work if they didn't have something to- He gets cut off.
"Something to what?" Clint asked.
"Encourage you 6 to work together." Coulson said.
"So you faked your death to make us work as a team?" Bruce asked.
"My death wasn't fake."
"But you're alive..." Tony said.
"I was dead for a few days them I was alive again."
"So project TAHITI worked?" Fury asked.
Coulson nodded, choosing not to tell him about the small glitch.
Fury stands up. 2 medics take Coulson's body away. Maria is being tended to by a nurse. Fury says that Coulson is down and that the doctors called it.
Steve and Tony are sitting at a large table.
'He's gonna be so mad about his cards.' Tony thought.
Fury says tosses bloody cards on the table and says that they were in Coulson's jacket.
Coulson's eyes widened. His cards! "Those were in my locker." Coulson said.
"They needed the push." Fury said.
"Was me dying not enough?" He asked.
Fury says that he guesses Coulson never got Steve to sign them.
"I'm sorry I never did." Steve said.
Fury says that they're dead in the air and they lost communications, the location of the tesseract and Thor and Bruce. He says that he has nothing for them and that he lost his one good eye and maybe he had it coming.
Everyone frowned. knowing that he meant Coulson.
Fury confirms that they were going to build an arsenal with the tesseract.
"He finally admits it." Scott said.
Fury says that he never put all of his chips on that number because he was playing something riskier.
'The avengers.' Everyone but Steve, Maria, Coulson, Tony and Fury thought.
Fury says that there was an idea that Tony knows about called the Avengers Initiate. He says that the idea was to bring together a remarkable group of people to see if they could become more and work together and fight the battles that they never could. He tells them that Coulson died believing in that idea, he died believing in heroes. Tony stands up and leaves.
"Why did you walk out?" Pepper asked. Tony shook his head, not wanting to answer.
Fury says that its an old fashioned notion.
Thor is waking in a meadow. He comes across Mjolnir. He tries to call it to his fist but doesn't.
"Doubting your worth again?" Loki questioned.
Bruce is naked, lying on a pile of concrete. An old man tells him that he fell out of the sky.
Bruce asks if he hurt anybody.
The man says that there wasn't anyone around to get hurt. He says that Bruce did scare the hell out of some pigeons.
"Everyone knows pigeons aren't birds anymore, they're government spies." Ned said.
"The birds work for the bourgeoisie." Peter said.
'What is up with these kids?' Steve thought.
Bruce says he got lucky.
The old man says that Bruce has good aim. He tells Bruce he was awake when he fell.
Bruce asks if he saw.
The old man says he saw the whole thing.
"And he's still there?" Clint asked, quietly.
The old man says he fell through the ceiling and that he was big, green and buckass nude.
A few people, against their better judgement, laughed.
He tosses Bruce some clothes and says that didn't think they'd fit him until he shrunk down to a regular sized fella.
Bruce puts the pants on and thanks him.
The old man asks if he's an alien from outer space.
Bruce says he isn't.
The old man says that he has a condition.
"Understatement of the year award goes to random old guy." Shuri said, dramatically.
Clint wakes up, the room is glowing. Natasha tells him that he's going to be alright.
Clint asks if she knows that. He says that he has no window and he needs to flush him out.
Natasha tells him that he needs to level out and it'll take time.
Clint tells her that she doesn't understand. He asks if she knows what it's like to have someone play with her brain to pull stuff out and put other stuff in.
"Yes." Bucky, Natasha and Loki.
Clint asks if she knows what it's like to be unmade.
"Yes." Bucky, Nebula, Loki, Gamora, Natasha.
Natasha says that she does.
Clint asks how she got Loki out.
Natasha says that she hit him really hard on his head.
"Remember that for future reference." Tony said.
Clint tries to ask how many agents he hurt or killed.
Natasha tells him not to do that to himself. She says that they're dealing with monster and magic and everything that they weren't trained for.
Loki felt the correction on the tip of his tongue but didn't say anything.
Clint asks if Loki got away.
Natasha says he did and says she doesn't suppose Clint knows where he is.
Clint says he didn't need to know so he didn't ask. He says that he's going to make his play soon.
Natasha says that they have to stop him.
Clint asks who 'they' are.
Natasha says whoever's left.
Clint says that he'll sleep better if he puts an arrow in Loki's eye socket.
Despite now knowing the full story of what happened in New York, Clint still wanted to put an arrow in his eye socket.
"Clint I know what you're thinking and I get it, believe me I do, but that won't fix anything what happened is in the past and nothing will change that. I would think that you understand that."
Clint understood it just fine, but understanding and liking are two different things.
Natasha makes a comment about Clint sounding like himself again.
Clint notices that Natasha doesn't sound like herself. He asks her why she wants to wade into war and asks what Loki did to her.
Natasha says he didn't do anything.
Clint presses her.
Natasha says that she's been compromised.
The avengers looked confused, they thought she was fine, she wasn't touched by the scepter. Could it have been the conversation with Loki?
Natasha says that she's got red in her ledger and she'd like to wipe it out.
Now they were decidedly less confused.
Tony is staring at the spot the cell used to be. Steve walks in and asks Tony is Coulson was married.
Tony says that there wasn't but there was a cellist.
"I knew you cared." Coulson joked.
Steve says that Coulson seemed like a good man.
Tony says that Coulson was an idiot.
Coulson looked at Tony, slightly offended.
Steve asks if it was because he believed.
Tony says its because he took on Loki alone.
Steve says that he was doing his job.
They start walking toward each other. Tony says that Coulson was out of his league and he should have waited.
Steve tells Tony that there sometimes isn't a way out.
Tony says that he's heard that one before and he goes to leave.
"Now is not the time to be bitter, you can wait for that." Pepper said.
Steve asks if this is the first time Tony's lost a soldier.
Tony bristled.
Tony says that they're not soldiers and he isn't marching to Fury's fife.
Steve says he isn't either because he has the same blood on his hands that Loki does but they need to put that behind them. Tony looks at the bloodstain on the wall. Steve says that Loki needs a power source and they should put a list together.
Tony realizes that Loki made it personal.
"That much was obvious." Rocket said.
Steve says that that isn't the point.
Tony says that it is Loki's point. He asks why Loki hit all of them right where they live.
Steve says it was to tear them apart.
Tony says that divide in conquer is great but Loki knows he needs to take them out to win and that he wants to beat them and he wants to be seen doing it. He walks back up the steps.
"Where are you going with this Tony?" Happy asked.
Steve says that he caught his act in Stuttgart.
Tony says that that was the previews but this opening night and Loki's a full tilt diva.
Loki was unsure whether to be offended or not.
Tony says that Loki wants flowers, parades and a monument built to the skies with his name plastered- He cuts himself off.
Loki was suddenly reminded of the statue on Asgard, how did Stark manage to figure him out so quickly.
"-son of a bitch." He says and walks away.
'The Tower' everyone else realized. Namely the people who aren't from Earth.
