Ronan tells the necropilots to enact immolation initiative.
A pilot says that the necrocraft are dive-bombing the city and asks Saal if they should break their formation.
Saal tells them to hold their positions. Ronan starts firing on the city, civilians panic.
"Oh my god." Everyone had looks on their faces that ranged from Anger to fear. Ronan was sick a twisted bastard that was a fact.
Rocket says to keep Ronan up there and they;ll take care of the people on the ground.
Saal says that he can't believe he's taking orders from a hamster.
"I thought he was a rabbit." Thor said.
Peter, Drax and Groot run into Ronan's soldiers. Korath greets Peter by calling him Star-Lord.
Peter says finally.
"Fight now, celebrate later." Gamora said.
He throws Peter to the ground. The two groups start fighting. Peter gets thrown into a wall. Drax stabs two of the soldiers. Drax starts fighting him, Korath hits him on the head. Korath says that they'll never make it to Ronan.
"You sure about that?" Rocket asked.
Rocket says to shoot the necrocraft before they hit the ground. The ravagers start shooting Ronan's fleet. Meanwhile, Gamora and Nebula are still fighting, as well as the other guardians. Peter starts shooting the soldiers.
"The Kree are tough to beat." Steve said.
"Tell me about it." Quill said.
Drax says that a finger to the throat means death kills Korath. Then says that its a metaphor
"Did you just turn a metaphor into a real thing?" Natasha asked.
More soldiers enter. Groot sticks his arm through a group of them, then smashes them on the ground. He turns around and smiles.
"It a weird, morbid way, he reminds me of the other guy." Bruce said.
Ronan says that Xandar stands accused. He says that their peace treaty can't save them now. He uses the power stone to break the nova barrier.
"Shit!" Everyone yelled.
Saal calls out to Rocket. Rocket tells him to hold on. Saal ship gets destroyed. The barrier is destroyed and the Dark Aster starts moving toward the surface of the planet.
"Oh no." Hope said.
Nebula looked guilty, knowing that she played a part in this.
Rocket tells Peter to hurry. He says that the city has been evacuated but they're getting their asses kicked.
Peter says that Gamora hasn't opened the door.
Gamora and Nebula looked at one another awkwardly.
Gamora and Nebula are still fighting. Nebula electrocutes Gamora, who kicks her off the ship, Nebula latches onto it. Gamora tells her to help them fight Ronan because she knows he's crazy.
Nebula says that she knows that they're both crazy. She cuts her hand off and falls.
Thor and Loki were both vividly reminded of their fight on the bi-frost.
She lands on a ravager ship and punches through the glass. She tells the man to get out, the man falls from the ship. Gamora de-activates the security, and the door opens, she joins the other three. Ronan stands in front of them.
Everyone started cheering the guardians on.
Peter shoots him with the weapon Rocket made, causing a large explosion. Drax says that Peter did it. Ronan stands back up.
"How?" Everyone asked.
"The Kree are very strong." Gamora answered.
Drax runs toward him, Ronan takes him by the throat. Ronan says that he does remember Drax's family and says that their screams were pitiful.
Drax glared at the screen, a murderous look on his face.
Rocket crashes into the ship.
"Take that!" Peter yells.
The Dark Aster starts falling. Peter grabs Rocket, and Gamora grabs Drax, they walk to Groot. The ship starts falling apart, Groot starts growing branches to protect them. Rocket wakes up and tells Groot not to because he'll die. He asks why he's doing it.
Rocket moved closer to Groot.
Rocket asks. "We are groot."
Everyone had tears in their eyes as the watched the emotional scene.
The ship crashes onto Xandar's surface.
"No." Everyone whispered loudly.
'O-o-h child' starts playing. The guardians start groaning. Rocket has a handful of sticks and says that he called Groot an idiot. Civilians gather around the wreck.
Ronan emerges from the ships wreckage. Rocket says that Ronan killed Groot.
"I am Groot."
"I know you're not dead. I'm glad you're not dead." Rocket said.
Ronan says to behold the Guardians of the Galaxy.
"So that's where you got the name from." Tony said.
Ronan asks what fruit they've wrought. He says that his father and grandfather will finally know vengeance. He tells the people of Xandar to rejoice and renounce their paltry gods.
Peter is singing and dancing to the song playing.
"What are you doing?" Natasha asked.
"Distracting him." Quill answered.
Ronan asks him what he's doing.
Peter says that the two of them are going to have a dance-off. He holds his hand out to Gamora who shakes her head.
"Dance off to save the universe." Drax said.
Ronan asks him what he's doing.
Peter says that he's distracting him and calls him a turd blossom. Drax has Rocket's gun and shoots the war hammer, the stone gets freed. Peter and Ronan rush to grab it, Peter gets it first. Power erupts from him.
"You can hold it?" Everyone asked. "How?"
Gamora tells Peter to take her hand. Peter looks at her but sees his mom on her deathbed asking him to take her hand.
The memory fades. Gamora tells Peter to take her takes her hand, power erupts from her too.
"Holy shit." Fury said.
Drax grabs peter arm, Rocket grabs Drax's hand. Power erupts from them as well.
"Badass." Ned said.
Ronan asks how he can do that if he's mortal.
Peter says that he said it himself that they're the Guardians of the Galaxy. They use the stone to kill Ronan.
Everyone started cheering.
Peter and Gamora put the stone in an orb. The purple smoke disappears. Yondu arrives and comments about the light show and tells Peter that he has business to attend to before the nookie-nookie starts.
"Before all the what starts?" Peggy asked.
Gamora tells Peter that he can't.
Peter tells Yondu to reconsider. He says that he doesn't know who Yondu is selling it to but the only way to make sure the universe is safe os to give the stone to the Nova Corps.
Yondu says that he may be as pretty as an angel but he sure as hell isn't one.
"Are you sure about that?" Sam asked.
He tells Peter to hand the orb over.
"I thought you said you didn't give it to Yondu?" Rhodey asked.
Peter tells Yondu not to open the orb because he's seen what it does to people.
"You tricked him." Coulson realized.
The ravagers are back on the ship. Kraglin says that Peter turned out okay.
"Thank you Kraglin." Quill said.
Kraglin says that it was good that they didn't deliver him to his father like they were hired to do.
The guardians nodded in the agreement.
"They were supposed to take you to your father?" Everyone asked, confused, they thought his father was human.
Yondu says that that guy was a jackass.
"He was worse than just a jackass." Rocket said.
Peter says that Yondu is going to be mad when he finds out he switched the orbs and he takes out the orb with the stone in it.
"That he is." Everyone agreed.
Gamora says that Yondu was going to kill him.
Peter says he knows then says that Yondu was the only family he had.
Gamora says he wasn't. Rocket is holding one of Groot's twigs crying.
Everyone looked confused, if Groot 'died' then how was he in the room with them? Or is it a different Groot?
Drax sits down next to him. He starts petting Rocket to comfort him.
"That is so demeaning." Rocket grumbled.
"Shut up, you know you like it." Gamora said.
They meet with nova prime. Peter asks how they would know that.
Dey says that they noticed an anomaly in his blood when they arrested him so they had it checked out.
Peter asks if he isn't terran.
Nova Prime says that he's half Terran because his mother was from Earth, She says that his father is something ancient that they haven't seen before.
"What is your father?" Thor asked.
Quill didn't answer.
Gamora says that that could be why he was able to hold the stone for as long as he was able to.
"Yes but on the flip side, that was how the bastard found us" Quill said.
Nova Prime says that the Nova Corps would like to show their gratitude for their help in saving Xandar. She tells them to follow Dey because he has something to show them.
Everyone leaned forward, wondering what the nova corps gave them.
Peter thanks her. They follow him out, Gamora walks up to Drax and tells him that his wife and child will rest well knowing that he's avenged them.
Drax says that Ronan was only a puppet and he really needs to kill Thanos.
"I hope you don't plan on taking him on alone." Maria said.
Dey shows them the restored Milano. He says that they tried to keep it close to the original and says that they salvaged as much as they could.
Peter thanks him. Dey says that he has a family who are alive because of them.
"In the moment, most people never even think about things like that." Steve said.
Dey says that their criminal records have been tarnished but he advises them against breaking any laws in the future.
Rocket asks if he sees something that belongs to someone else and he wants to take it.
"That's stealing." Hank said.
Dey says that he'll be arrested.
Rocked asks what of he wants it more than the person it belongs to.
"Still stealing." Hope said.
Dey says that it's still illegal.
Rocket says that that doesn't follow and says that he wants it more. Gamora laughs. Rocket asks why she's laughing then asks if he can't have a nice discussion with Dey.
"And now he's back to normal." Tony said.
Drax asks what if someone does something irksome and he removes their spine.
"That's murder." Everyone said.
Drax says that that is murder which is one of the worst crimes and says that it's illegal. Drax goes to the ship.
"Technically, it's only considered illegal if your not defending yourself or someone else." Natasha said.
Peter tells Dey that they'll be fine and he'll keep an eye on them.
"Really?"
Peter pulls out the present his mom gave him and reads the note. Meredith voice narrates, she says that she knows these past fer months have been hard for him but she's going to a better place. She says that she'll always be with him and says that he's the light of her life. She calls him Star Lord.
"So that's why you call yourself that." Gamora realized, and smiled at him.
He opens the present, which is 'Awesome mix vol. 2' He puts it in the player and 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' starts playing. Gamora joins him and starts nodding her head.
Gamora and Peter smiled at each other.
The ravagers are partying. Yondu opens the orb, revealing a troll doll, he smiles.
"So maybe he won't kill you."
Nova Prime locks the orb away. Dey comes home to his family.
Scott, May and Clint smiled at the screen.
Gamora walks up to Peter who's in a pilot's chair. Peter asks what they should do next and asks if they should do something good bad or both.
Gamora says that they'll follow his lead and calls him Star-Lord.
Peter says that they'll do a bit of both.
"Nice, find some middle ground." Tony said.
'I want you back' starts playing. Groot is dancing in his pot, stopping whenever Drax, who's cleaning his knives, looks at him.
Everyone laughed.
The collector is in his destroyed building, drinking. A dog licks his face. Howard the Duck asks why The Collector is letting the dog lick him. Howard the Duck is sitting in a broken bird cage he sips his drink and says that it burns going down.
