Miraculous: Tales of Dove Papillon, Cat Noir, Night Crow and crew.

Chapter 13: Copycat Averted.

(Author's notes: As the title suggests, Theo Barbot being Akumatized into Cat Noir's duplicate, Copycat, will be averted. The reason why is because not only is Marinette Dove Papillon instead of Ladybug, thus preventing Cat Noir for directly causing Theo to get Akumatized out of jealousy, but there is also this factor. Amrita Cheng/Ladybug will make it on time to the unveiling of the statues of Dove Papillon, Night Crow, Ladybug, Cat Noir and their team. At the same time, Night Crow will clarify for Theo that Ladybug is easily able to make it to events on time. Another factor is that Theo will clarify for Cat Noir and Dove Papillon that he admires Ladybug for her selfless actions, but not in the romantical sense.

Enjoy chapter 13.)

(Dupain Cheng bakery, Marinette's balcony, third person POV...)

Marinette is on her balcony with Nooroo, Daniel and Tally.

Marinette is designing while Daniel is practicing his angelic power and trying to combine it with his magic power to make himself more powerful.

Nooroo asks, "So, a fashion designer is someone who designs fashionable clothes for a living?"

Daniel answers, "In addition to designing optional jewelry and designing costumes on occasion."

Nooroo hums in curiosity.

Marinette suddenly asks Daniel, "Daniel, have you ever wanted to ask Sumalee to go out with you to the movies?"

Daniel answers while continuing his power practicing, "I initially wanted to do so back in the U.S., but unfortunately, I rediscovered some things about movie theaters that I didn't like when I was growing up. Such as the fact that bathroom breaks tend to make me miss important scenes, the snacks at the concessions stand tend to be overpriced, some people tend to be disruptive during the movie, there's some people who don't respect boundaries or my fear of germs, some people leave their garbage lying around, and some of the scenes of specific movies I watch tend to be the opposite of what I hope for."

Tally asks him, "Meaning what?"

Daniel answers, "For example, some superhero movies tend to kill off popular characters to make way for new characters or to signify that the supervillain of the day is one step closer to winning. And the moment one of my favorite superhero characters gets killed off in my favorite cartoons, movies or video games centered on superheroes, let's just say my metaphorical reviews afterwards are not so nice. And whenever my favorite cartoons, movies and video games don't end the way I believe they're supposed to, let's just say my fanfiction stories depicting my versions of their endings are not quite so nice for the antagonists who win or the supporting protagonists who choose to do nothing. One example is a supporting protagonist convincing the main protagonist to take the high road when it comes to a compulsive liar, who both protagonists are unaware is secretly working for the main antagonist of the story. Simply because both the liar and the stupid high road protagonist believe that the liar's lies aren't hurting anyone. In fact, if this dimension were a TV show, Lila Rossi would be the biggest example of such a liar who's working with the main antagonist – Hawk Moth – behind the scenes and Adrien would've been the biggest example of the supporting protagonist convincing the main protagonist – Marinette – to take the high road just because he thinks that Lila's lies aren't hurting anyone. But what Adrien failed to grasp in almost every single alternate timeline of our dimension except for this one is that taking the high road in business dealings and tabloid rumors and taking the high road with the lies of a compulsive liar/terrorist collaborator desperate for attention from his or her mother are two entirely different things. Gabriel Agreste might've taught Adrien to take the high road in terms of shady business rumors and dealing with tabloids, but that doesn't apply to compulsively lying bullies and terrorist collaborators."

Marinette, Nooroo and Tally look at each other as they process Daniel's little speech.

Marinette asks, "So, what exactly are fanfiction stories?"

Daniel smiles softly as he explains, "Fanfiction stories are fan-made digital stories of all forms of fiction – comic books, cartoons, movies, novels, musical bands, anime shows, and manga. And the story categories for fanfictions include angst which involves the character in a sad mood. Crossovers between two different forms of fiction to create something wacky or something truly awesome. Alternate universe-style what if scenarios featuring the characters in an alternate universe somewhere in the multiverse or scenarios in the chronological order of fiction in which a specific scene, character interaction or anything else in between plays out differently because of how the multiverse works in both real life and in fiction. Darker fanfics which are more grim or depressing than the original form of fiction. Fluffy fanfictions that feature only happy endings, even if some of them might be bittersweet. Hurt/comfort scenarios in which the character is in a traumatized experience and need to be comforted. Fix-it fanfics that detail stories which revise, or rewrite, chronological events in a form of fiction that the author of the story doesn't agree with and feels like the opposite of the events should've happened instead. Peggy Sue fanfictions that feature one of the characters being sent back in time years before they died with knowledge of the original plot and a newfound determination to rewrite the plot and the history of the world in the case of a final battle between heroes and villains resulting in the end of the world, not like what scriptures have hinted and partially told people about. Self-insert fanfictions which feature a version of the author being transported into the world in which the fanfiction done by the real author is based on. Song-based fanfictions that feature a story with one or more characters singing the lyrics of a relevant song related to the circumstances of the fanfiction in question. And of course, shipping fanfics that feature a variant of chronological romantic relationships between two characters either in the chronological sense, or in the sense of two people in a platonic relationship being paired together for the purpose of entertaining people who don't like specific chronological relationships. That's basically what you need to know about fanfiction stories."

Marinette, Nooroo and Tally hummed in curiosity about the explanation of fanfiction stories.

Of course, Marinette and Nooroo were unaware that Daniel was, in fact, from an alternate dimension where the Miraculouses and the lives of the heroes and villains of the world were entirely fictional.

Daniel was deadset on revealing the truth when the incidents of Volpina and The Collector come around.

Of course, two nights ago, Daniel made sure that there were no hidden microphones and no hidden cameras in Adrien's bedroom for added effect for his plans.

Just then, Daniel gets a call from Sumalee.

Daniel answers politely, "Yes, Sumalee, is there something urgent at hand?"

Sumalee answers on the other end of the call, "Yes. The unveiling of Theo Barbot's statues of our crew is starting in fifteen minutes at Place des Vosges."

Daniel says in response, "Okay. We're on our way."

Daniel hangs up and Marinette asks, "What did Sumalee say?"

Daniel answers, "Theo Barbot's unveiling statues of us and our crew in fifteen minutes at Place des Vosges. And we need to be there. Theo could get Akumatized if we don't get there and if he takes someone's words about any of us out of context."

Marinette nods in determination.

Concealed by smoke to hide from anyone downstairs that might look up, Daniel and Marinette call out, "Tally, Soaring Flight Wings On!" and "Nooroo, Bright Wings Rise!"

Night Crow and Dove Papillon take flight via their wings.

Interesting side-note: Dove Papillon managed to change her wings to make them not attached to a jetpack all the time, and instead have them under the three following circumstances: being attached to a deployable jetpack, being a part of a retractable winged cape that acts like Batman's cape in the Dark Knight trilogy, and being normal metallic retractable butterfly wings. Night Crow did the same thing, and he actually enjoyed having to do it, as he was also getting tired of having just a cape that would transform into a winged jetpack. Because of this, Night Crow and Dove Papillon looked more elegant while being prepared for battle on the ground and in the skies.

As Dove Papillon and Night Crow meet up with the rest of their crew at Place des Vosges, they are immediately faced with a big enough crowd, Mayor Andre Bourgeois and Theo Barbot.

Night Crow says casually, "You wanted us here for the statue unveiling? Well, here we are."

Leona states, "I'm sure you've outdone yourself, Theo."

Theo replies, "Oh, I have. It was my honor to Mayor Bourgeois. And I couldn't wait to meet Ladybug. Ladybug, could you sign this photo I used as inspiration for the statues?"

Ladybug smiles behind her mouth guard and autographs it.

Night Crow could sense Theo's romantical love for Ladybug despite being a few years older than her and despite Amrita Cheng being in her last year of high school. So, Night Crow inverted Theo's romantical feelings for Ladybug and turning them into platonic feelings of adoration.

Soon, the statues are unveiled while Night Crow poses along with his still life counterpart.

Everyone cheers as they take pictures, including Alya taking pictures for her Doveblog.

Theo bows in pride as Ladybug claps his shoulder gently.

Ladybug replied with her voice changer still on, "You did well. Um, except for one thing: Cat Noir is a little taller than me."

Theo compares the statue with the real Cat Noir and says to Ladybug, "Well, that's strange. I thought you two were at the same height."

Night Crow states, "Well, there's always gonna be times where we made an error. But what's most important from these errors is we learn from them. However, I will say this: I'm not here for Mayor Bourgeois. Neither is any member of my crew for that matter. We're here because Theo Barbot's works of art were a blessing. So, on behalf of the French Miraculous Superhero Team, I hereby say you're a true artist, Theo. We're truly honored that you made these statues to honor us."

Theo looked stunned, and then he grinned.

Night Crow's armored mask manipulated itself to reveal an angelic smile.

Of course, when Cat Noir was about to sneak up on him, Night Crow's angelic smile turned into a GHOSTLY DEMONIC EVIL SMILE.

Cat Noir screamed like a girl at the sight of something so scary and he ran away screaming.

Night Crow and everyone else broke out laughing.

Night Crow was laughing maniacally in particular.

Just then, Cat Noir comes running back and snarled, "And for future reference, Theo, Ladybug and I are a thing!"

Just before Theo can ask, Night Crow punches the black cat hero very hard in the face.

Cat Noir yells in pain as he feels blood coming out of his nose.

Cat Noir shouts, "What the hell, man?!"

Night Crow retorts, "YOU COULD'VE GOTTEN THEO AKUMATIZED INTO A PHYSICAL DUPLICATE OF YOURSELF, YOU F****** IDIOTA! And besides, you're already in a relationship with someone else, or did you forget that?"

Dove Papillon comes up and smacks Cat Noir upside his head with her butterfly cane.

Dove Papillon stated, "You're on thin ice for the next week and a half, partner. You better hope and pray that Night Crow doesn't create a Ghost Rider Tenshi, otherwise you'll have to suffer the penalty by usage of the Penance Stare. And your mother would be ashamed of you."

Theo crosses his arms in agreement as he states, "And you don't deserve Ladybug, I do!"

Everyone gasps in shock.

Night Crow snarls, "ENTITLED MUCH, F*****?!"

Night Crow electrocutes Theo and knocks him unconscious.

Night Crow sprinkles amnesia dust over Theo's head, erasing his memory of the entire encounter.

Night Crow turns to the audience and says, "As long as nobody mentions this encounter in any detail to him, he shouldn't be able to remember. I don't want him being Akumatized into a physical duplicate of either me or Cat Noir just to frame either of us for theft. Am I making myself clear?"

The audience nods their heads and voice their affirmatives.

Soon, the crowd disperses.

However, as everyone starts to leave, a kid calls out, "Akuma!"

But before Night Crow and Dove Papillon could purify it, the akuma lands in Theo's photograph of Ladybug.

And everyone manages to see Theo get back up and hear Hawk Moth say, "Hello, Copycat. I am Hawk Moth. Once you get rid of Cat Noir and anyone else Ladybug loves, you can take their places. And Ladybug will be yours forever."

But before the soon-to-be created Copycat could accept, Night Crow rips the photograph and Cataclysms the akuma.

Night Crow sneers, "Attempting to replace Cat Noir by framing him for theft and having him arrested in your place? That's the oldest supervillain trick in the book that people are familiar with thanks to Quentin Beck, AKA Mysterio."

Everyone murmurs in agreement.

Then, Night Crow throws a lot of amnesia dust to make Theo forget about the entire day overall.

In Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth is fuming about his newest failure.

Hawk Moth declares, "It doesn't matter how many supervillains I have to throw at you and your crew, Night Crow. No matter if my supervillains are physical duplicates of you and your crew or not, I will be victorious. It's only a matter of time. And with the added power of destruction at my fingertips, I will not lose."

Hawk Moth's window closes, thus engulfing his lair in darkness once again.

Meanwhile, Marinette was practicing her new ability to manipulate magic to unlock a new superpower, thanks to Daniel teaching her using a translated grimoire about the Butterfly Miraculous.

Marinette was instructed to call upon a swirl of purple magic and trace her finger in the air with her magic power.

Then she was instructed to make sure that the magic swirl was big enough to trace a butterfly symbol on it.

The symbol filled in to represent the butterfly symbol meant for Hawk Moth's transformations, but in a bright purple and white for the butterfly symbol.

The symbol fused itself with Marinette, showing her a magic hologram of her running at a greater form of super speed.

Marinette transforms into Dove Papillon and tests out her newly enhanced super speed.

And surprisingly, she managed to make it work.

Once Dove Papillon made it back to the bakery, Marinette and Adrien were in her room literally having a tickle fight.

Surprisingly, Adrien was extremely skilled at tickling Marinette.

Of course, Marinette's case wasn't helped when Adrien started tickling her feet.

Tom and Sabine watched in amusement and concern because on the one hand, Adrien seems to be enjoying himself, and Marinette a little less. But on the other hand, Marinette might try something to make Adrien admit he likes tickling her feet.

So, Tom and Sabine made contingency plans with Daniel behind the scenes to make sure such an inappropriate thing doesn't happen whatsoever.

And Marinette's hysterical laughter reaching a high octave signaled to Adrien that he better stop before Marinette busts a gut.

Soon, Marinette and Adrien went to the movie theater and went to watch the movie All About Them.

Surprisingly, even Marinette and Adrien enjoyed the movie.

As Marinette went to sleep that night, she entered a dreamlike reality with Night Crow sitting upon a birdlike throne.

Night Crow says, "Marinette, Adrien's birthday is coming. You must make him a scarf, and you must make sure to give it to him when you arrive at the school. If Gabriel denies Adrien a birthday party, make sure Nino doesn't try to get involved. Otherwise, Gabriel will definitely try to Akumatize Nino into The Bubbler after kicking Nino out of the mansion."

Marinette replies, "Leave it to me, boss."

The End.

(Author's notes: That's right: Dove Papillon has a greater form of super speed and everyone is made aware of Copycat's averted Akumatization. I didn't like the way Ladybug deduced Copycat's identity without any additional help – not including any otherwise hilarious fanfiction take on it that involves both Cat Noir and Copycat getting a wedgie.

Additionally, what Night Crow said is true: ever since Mysterio's debut in Marvel's The Amazing Spider-Man issue number thirteen, the practice of supervillains framing superheroes for theft and murder has literally become the oldest supervillain trick in the book. Such examples include Spellbinder framing Terry McGinnis/Batman II for murdering Mad Stan, and Makeshift impersonating Wheeljack in the Con Job episode of Transformers Prime.

See you all in chapter 14: The Bubbler.)
