Ch. 1

A/N: Hello, dear readers! This is an AU in which Harry has a twin sister. It's mostly canon, with only a few plot changes. But I will change almost nothing about Harry. Lily is mostly the one who changes it from being canon. Oh and Malfoy isn't such a jerk at first, when they're on the train.

Disclaimer: I do not own, or make claim to the Harry Potter franchise.

Voldemort walked down Godric's Hollow, heading to the Potter Mansion. Thanks to Pettigrew, he was able to surpass the Fidelus Charm and enter the house. James and Lily Potter were sitting in the living room. They took one look at Voldemort and somehow knew. Lily dashed up the stairs to protect her child, trusting James to hold him off. Internally, Voldemort scoffed. As if anyone could "hold off" the Dark Lord. James, however, stood his ground by the entrance to the stairs. Voldemort simply cast Avada Kedava and he was dead. 'Such a waste,' Voldemort thought. He walked up the stairs and saw Lily Potter standing over a crib.
"I won't let you hurt them," she said.
"You couldn't stop me. Step aside."
"No."
"Very well. Avada Kedava!" She fell to the floor, lifeless. He walked to the crib. "Well, if it isn't little Harry Potter." But something was wrong. There were two children, and they looked the exact same, only one was in pink clothing and the other in blue. Deciding to kill them both, he cast the fatal curse. Somehow, it backfired. Voldemort's body was no more.

The next morning, Petunia Dursley, of Number 4 Privet Drive, screamed at the sight of two young babies on her doorstep.

11 years later.

I couldn't believe it. Hagrid had told my brother and I that we were wizards. On our birthday, no less. I hadn't truly believed it until today, when I was sitting on the Hogwarts Express, holding my wand in my left hand. It was a beautiful wand, in my opinion. It was holly and phoenix feather, 12 inches. Almost an exact copy of my brother's, who had a holly and unicorn hair wand.
I was reading a book while Harry watched the window when the door of the compartment slid open. It was the red-headed boy who's mother had helped us get on the train, I realized. "Anyone sitting there?" he asked, pointing to an empty seat opposite Harry. "Everywhere else is full."
Harry shook his head and I turned back to my book.
"Hey Ron." his twin brothers were back. "Listen, we're going down to the middle of the train- Lee Joradan has his giant tarantula down there."
Ron had paled when the twins mentioned the spider. "M'kay," he mumbled.
"Oh, Harry, Lily, we forgot to introduce ourselves. Fred and George Weasley. That's Ron. Sadly, he doesn't have a twin like us," he grinned. I looked up at him and smiled a bit. They waved and left the compartment. I turned back to my book again. The silence lasted all of 30 seconds before Ron blurted out, "Are you really the Potter twins?" I rolled my eyes and stood up. "I'll be back, okay Harry?"
He nodded.
Leaving the compartment, I saw a toad hop towards me and jump in my hair. "He must have ran away from his owner," I mused. I gingerly extracted the toad from my short, messy hair. I'm told that I look exactly like my brother- which makes sense, seeing as we're twins- except for my freckles and my eyes, which Harry swears change colors sometimes when they're supposed to be bright green. Other than that, we look the same with short, messy black hair, round glasses -which were held together by tape, courtesy of Dudley's punches-and a thin lightning shaped scar on our foreheads. Finally getting the toad out of my hair- note to self: wash hair really well- I start walking down the train, asking people if they're missing a toad. As I walk back to my own compartment, I see a boy go in. I walk into the compartment and ask, "Hey are you missing a toad?" right as he says, "Have you seen a toad? I lost mine." We look at each other and laugh. "Here's your toad."
"Thanks. I'm Neville, by the way."
"I'm Lily. Lily Potter."
"Nice to meet- wait what?"
I'm really starting to like Neville.
"You're Lily Potter? No offense, but I thought you were a boy for a second. It's hard to tell when someone wears muggle clothes."
"None taken." I smiled.
"Alright, see you all later!"
"Bye Neville!" I sit down in my previous spot and pick up my book again. The compartment slid open just as Ron took out his wand to show Harry a spell he was going to cast on his rat. A girl with bushy brown hair and rather large front teeth said, "Had anyone seen a toad? Neville's lost one."
"Yes, I just gave it to him," I said. She gave a brisk nod and turned to leave. Then she saw Ron with his wand. "Oh are you doing magic? Let's see it then."
Ron looked slightly alarmed. "Er- alright." He cleared his throat and said,
"Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow
Turn this stupid, fat rat yellow"
He waved his wand and nothing happened. I tried to suppress a giggle and succeeded. The girl was rambling about how she learned all her course books by heart when she suddenly said, "I'm Hermione Granger, by the way. Who are you?"
"Ron Weasley," Ron muttered.
"I'm Lily Potter. And that's my brother-"
"Harry Potter," my brother said, interrupting me. Then Hermione started talking very fast again about what books we were in and what house she wanted to be in. I ignored her and turned back to my book. She suddenly said to me, "You like reading?"
"Yes."
"What book is that?" She motioned at the one I was reading.
"1000 Magical Herbs and Fungi."
She gave a nod and said, "Well, you better change because I expect we'll be there soon," and left.
I- finally- turned back to my book and wasn't interrupted for about an hour until the compartment slid open again. I looked up, ready to go off on whoever it was because honestly can't a person read in peace?! But three boys entered, and I shut my mouth because two of them looked rather like Dudley. The third boy was the pale boy Harry had talked to at Madam Malkin's in Diagon Alley. "Is it true?" he said. "They're saying all down the train that the Potter Twins are in this compartment. So it's you, is it?"
"Yes," said Harry. Harry seemed to be looking at the other two as well, because the boy said, "Oh, this is Crabbe and this is Goyle. And my name's Malfoy, Draco Malfoy."
"After the constellation, Draconis?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Oh, well I'm Lily, by the way, in case you couldn't tell us apart." I said jokingly.
"And I'm Harry."
"Ron Weasley."
"A Weasley? Of course, I dont know why I didnt see it before. My father tells me they all have freckles and red hair." Draco said. "You'll soon find out their are some wizarding families you'll want to avoid, Potters. I can help you there." He said this with a pointed glare at Ron and his hand held out as if to shake. Harry said, "I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks." Draco turned to me, but I had picked up my book again and ignored him. I needed to see what Draco meant by "families you'll want to avoid", and I couldn't do that unless he left. He spoke up, "What about you? Gonna reject me as well?" He seemed angry. I simply said, " You do realize that twins aren't carbon copies of each other, and we don't have to think alike." He gave me a thoughtful look, and left.
"We really should get into our school robes." I said. Harry and Ron nodded and I left so they could change. When they were changed, they did the same for me. I decided that I was getting changed before getting in the train next year to avoid the hassle. After we were all back in the compartment, I put my book back in my trunk, nearly dropping the trunk on my head in the process. Luckily, Ron helped me catch it before it hit. "Thanks Ron, and sorry, I was a bit cold to you earlier." I said.
"No problem, Lily. It's okay by the way, I could tell you just wanted to read. The look on your face when Malfoy came in was priceless! You looked so livid." He laughed. I gave a small smile. A voice rang through the train: "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately." I looked over at Harry and Ron. Both were pale and were cramming the last of their sweets they bought off the trolley into their pockets. I snatched a Chocolate Frog for later.
The train slowed down and stopped. People pushed and shoved out onto a small, dark platform. I shivered in the cold air. I felt Harry tap the palm of my hand, which was something we've taken to doing when one of us comes up behind the other in the dark or in a crowd. I looked around, trying to see over the heads of all the older students, when I saw a lantern bobbing over them and a familiar voice said, "Firs' years! Firs' years over here! All right there you two?" Hagrid big hairy face could be seen over all the heads. "C'mon, follow me- any more of you? Mind yer step now! Firs' years follow me!" I slipped in the mud and felt some one catch my arm before I fell. Thinking it was Harry or Ron, I turned to say thanks but was surprised to see Draco. "Oh... uh, thanks Draco."
"No problem Lily." I smiled at him. I turned back around and followed Hagrid.
"Yeh"ll get yer firs' sigh' o' Hogwarts in a mo'," Hagrid called over his shoulder, "jus' round this bend here."
I was shocked. Hogwarts was a magnificent castle on top of a high mountain on the other side of a great black lake.
"No more'n four to a boat!" Hagrid called. I then noticed a little fleet of boats sitting in the water near the shore. I tried to find Harry in time to get in his boat, but Ron, Neville and Hermione were already there. I sat in the last boat available and was joined by Draco, Crabbe, and some Italian kid who's name I didnt know.
"Everyone in? Right then- FORWARD!" shouted Hagrid, who seemed to have a boat to himself. The boat lurched forward and began to move across the lake. "Heads down!" Hagrid yelled. We all bent our heads as we were carried through a curtain of ivy. We went through a dark tunnel and reached some sort of underground harbor. We all clambered out of the boats onto rocks and pebbles that were on the ground. Hagrid checked all the boats and, seeming satisfied that no one was still in one, led us to the front of the castle in front of a huge oak door.
"Everyone here?" Hagrid knocked on the door.
