"The Irish coven are confused as to why they have to come see us instead of us seeing them if the situation to see them in person is so important." Carlisle had just gotten off the phone with Siobhan and had a hard time explaining the situation in a way he didn't seem crazy. He had told them it was a matter of upmost importance and that he couldn't say more over the phone and even though they had agreed to come he could tell they didn't actually trust him with the lack of information he provided. He just hoped that Isabella was right and Irina really was Maggie's mate because if she wasn't the Irish coven wouldn't be happy with coming to Forks for no reason.
"The reason for that is actually quite interesting." Eleazar said. He had been spending his time observing Isabella create the blocks but had been pulled away to help his coven make a plan about how to find Irina and Kate's mates. "Isabella has an extreme fear of any type of man made vehicle. She wouldn't ride with us in the car on our way here and when the mention of a plane ride came up she flat out refused to even go to the airport."
"That is interesting." Carlisle had never heard of a vampire that was afraid of traveling that way. It was one of many quirks that made Isabella that more intriguing though. He had hoped that even though she had made it very clear she wanted to go home that he would have a chance to ask her some more questions. The fact that she was the only one know to have her gift was simply astonishing and that wasn't even considering the way she could use her shield.
"So when will they be here?" Irina asked. She was getting impatient to finally meet her mate and the only reason she hadn't put up a fight to go to Ireland herself was the fact that the location of Kate's mate was still unknown. Tanya had reasoned with her that if the Irish coven was willing to travel here it would be helpful for Kate to unite with Garrett faster. She begrudgingly agreed that it would be unfair to make Kate wait if there was a way for everyone to find their mates sooner.
"Due to the urgency for the meet up they were going to take the first flight available to get here. I asked if they wanted us to pick them up but they said they preferred to run. I think they are extremely wary of this whole situation and don't want to be stuck in a way they would be unable to defend themselves." Carlisle told them.
"I don't blame them. It's not often someone contacts you and tells you they need to meet up but can't explain why. Now that we have a lead on Maggie I'm going to check on Bella." Tanya had left her mate with Isabella so the woman could explain more to Bella about how her shield worked. Isabella had mentioned that all other versions of her had the same powerful shield but needed to practice with it so Tanya hoped that even though she was human that Bella could learn a thing or to from the strange vampire. Isabella had also mentioned that she had returned to the different dimensions she traveled to so Tanya was hoping she could convince her to come back after Bella was changed to train her.
"Ok focus on Alice as she hasn't been shielded."Isabella told Jasper as the two sat across form each other. "The Alice I know is the definition of extreme emotions. So what I want you to do is close your eyes and focus on just her. In your mind I want you to imagine a box. When Alice's emotions start to become overwhelming I want you to put those emotions in that box and close the lid."
Jasper wasn't to convinced that Isabella could actually help him and wasn't just crazy but he would try anything if controlling his gift was the outcome. After initially feeling the block Isabella was now trying to teach him how to use it. So he put his skepticism aside and focused on Alice. Isabella was right Alice did everything in the extreme and the amount of happiness coming from her made him stager slightly. Taking a deep breath he imagined a box in his head, he then forced the feelings coming from Alice into the box and closed it with an imaginary lid. As soon as he did he no longer could feel Alice's emotions. He opened his eyes in surprised. "It worked."
"Amazing." Alice tackled Isabella in a hug. "Thank you so much. This is going to change everything."
"This is just the beginning of learning how to control your gift." Isabella cautioned. "After you practice more on individuals then you can start trying on multiple people. Eventually you won't need to think of the box at all. It is mainly used as a way to help you focus."
"How do I use my gift if it's contained like this?" Jasper asked. He was more than excited to try it out on others now that he knew the block helped.
"Simply envision taking the lid off the box."Bella explained. "If you practice enough you will be able to not only block all emotions from people around you but you will also be able to effect more people with your gift. Some of the others of you I have met have been able to control the emotions of large crowds."
"Amazing." Tanya whispered causing the groups attention to fall on her. Bella stood up and went to her mate happily snuggling into her arms. "Did you learn anything from Isabella?"
"Yes quite a few things. Although I won't be able to use the shield to the extent Isabella does until I'm turned she gave me some exercises to do to strengthen it enough to be able to use it partially while I'm human." Bella told her.
"She will be able to use her shield while human?" Tanya shouldn't have been surprised because it seemed like every time Isabella opened her mouth she told them some form of life changing information.
Isabella nodded. "Of course. While I was human I was able to not only shield my own mind but could summon a physical shield that could protect myself and up to three other people."
"And you believe that our Bella could be able to do the same thing?" Carlisle asked. He had joined the group with Eleazar to see how Jasper was coming along.
"If she practices. As of right now she will probably be immune to Kate's gift at least." Isabella told them like it was no big deal at all a human could physically block a gift used by a vampire.
"She can block my gift?" Kate ran up to the group after hearing this. Irina following right behind her also interested to see if it was possible.
Seeing the look in Kate's eyes Tanya knew what she was thinking. "No!"
"Oh come on." Kate whined.
"Kate you are not shocking my mate."Tanya held out her hand to stop Kate's pleading. "She is human if she isn't immune then you are going to hurt her badly or worse you could kill her."
"How about if I only use a low level. Nothing more than what would feel like if you got a static shock." Kate really wanted to see if the human could block her now that Isabella had made her gift useless on almost everyone except Edward. It amused Kate to no end that Isabella ignored all attempts Edward made to talk to her and ask her questions about the block. It was obvious he was trying to figure out a way to get around it and instead of calling him out on it Isabella just acted like he wasn't there. Of course this didn't stop him from going to Carlisle to try to get him to make Isabella tell them how it worked to make sure it was safe but Carlisle was to enamored with Isabella to do anything to upset her. Edward had taken off after that and no one had seen him since.
Bella tugged on Tanya's hand to get her attention. "I think I want to try."
"It could be very dangerous, sweetheart." Tanya didn't like the idea but she wouldn't stop Bella if she wanted to try.
"I know but all of this feels like a strange dream. Last night I was a simple teenage girl having a sleepover with her friends thinking Edward was my mate then this morning I find out that Edward was lying that you were my mate and me from another dimension travels to make sure we always end up together. Even though I have experienced all of this I still have it in the back of my mind that maybe I won't be as skilled as Isabella. I just want to be able to have some type of proof that what she says is true and I'm not just some dimensional defect that isn't as great as the other me's." Bella hoped Tanya understood her reasons because she was feeling really insecure watching Isabella so easily use her gift.
Tanya took a minute to actually go through all of the things Bella said. Her mate was feeling self conscience and the longer Isabella was around the more obvious she felt like she didn't add up to her other self. Tanya wouldn't never understand what that felt like as her other self wasn't here. Taking in her mate's mental health Tanya made a discussion. "Low level shock Kate. If you hurt her in any way nothing in this world will stop me from killing you."
"Yes." Kate cheered. She held out her hand for Bella. "Ok so don't feel bad if you can't block me. My gift is really powerful."
Bella grabbed Kate's hand and waited. When nothing happened she was confused. "You can start now Kate."
"I did start. I'm still trying to shock you." Kate said in frustration.
"Amazing." Eleazar said for what he felt like wouldn't be the last time as he was in Isabella's company. "To be not only a physical but a mental shield as a human. I've never heard of a vampire having both gifts. You are going to be incredibly strong as a vampire."
"She actually hasn't used her physical shield yet." Isabella told them.
"She blocked Kate's gift though." Eleazar said confused.
"Kate's gift is mental not physical."Isabella explained." That's why my block stops it."
"How is my gift not physical? I literally make electrical currents with my fingers." Kate didn't understand how that wasn't a physical gift.
"Your gift actually manifests in your mind. The electricity is actually an illusion. An illusion you aren't using to your full potential if you think you can only manifest it in your finger tips." Isabella added.
"I don't get it." Kate admitted. "Are you saying that my electrical current isn't real and there is a different way for me to use it?"
Isabella nodded her head. "It's real to those who you touch it with. It works in the same way Alec's gift works where you can see it manifest into a cloud of dark smoke. The reason you can only see it at your finger tips is because you haven't learned how to use it properly to not only cover your own body but to project it out to others when you aren't touching them."
"What the fuck!" Eleazar exclaimed causing the entire group except Isabella to stare at him in surprise. None of them had ever heard the man raise his voice let alone used profanity.
Tanya yelled over the many voices throwing out questions to Isabella. "Ok one at a time. Kate you first as this is your gift we are talking about."
"Cool. So you are saying that I could theoretically not only cover my whole body with my gift causing anyone who touched me to feel the electric charge but I could possible use it on another person without touching them." Kate didn't know if Isabella was telling the truth but everything else the woman had claimed so far that could be proven had. She just hoped that if this was that Isabella could teach her how to use her gift that way.
"I have seen my version of you take out an entire army of 70 vampires with your gift." Isabella told her like it was no big deal.
"Jesus." Tanya couldn't wrap her head around Kate's gift being that powerful. They had been together for over a thousand years and not once had she thought Kate would be able to do more than immobilize one person at a time with it.
"Can you teach me how to use my gift like that?" Kate asked. She hoped Isabella would because she didn't have a clue where to begin training.
Isabella shrugged. "Sure I mean I taught my Kate how to do it so it shouldn't be that much of a problem. That is if we have time. How is it coming on finding Garrett?"
"I've got a few glimpses of him and they are becoming stronger the more they come so I think we should have some kind of solid information on where he is soon." Alice told her. She kind of wished Isabella would stay longer. The woman was extremely easy going and it seemed every time she opened her mouth she gave them more incredible information. Looking over to Jasper who had a face full of concentration she was beyond grateful for Isabella's help.
"Well since I can't go home until we find him I might as well help whoever wants help with their gifts. Let's just hope that this doesn't take to long. I really want to get back to my mate." Isabella really did hope that Alice would get a solid vision soon because she needed to get home soon if she didn't want to deal with an irate mate.
