Chapter One: Finding The Words

A quick note from the author: I've been debating about starting this fic since every other Dramione fic that I start seems to wind up with writer's block, but I decided to give it a try and cross my fingers and hope for the best. Especially since I won't get to their official romance in Harry Snape The Next Chapter until book five and I'm currently only on book four. I hope you guys enjoy! :D

Oh yeah and I know that this first chapter focuses on the romance of Harry and Ginny more, but this is mostly a Dramione story. Just have a bit of Harry/Ginny and Neville/Luna thrown in here and there.

The war was over. Harry Potter had finally defeated the darkest wizard of all time Lord Voldemort. Harry, Ron, and Hermione had all decided to go back and finish up their final year of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. However, Harry was having an extremely difficult time taking all of his classes without Dumbledore there, but he was really glad that he still had Ginny Weasley back at his side.

The year had flown by and before everyone knew it, it was over already. The senior students had had a summer party for them in The Great Hall and since Harry, Ron, and Hermione had waited a year to finish school, Ginny was now a senior student as well and Draco had got held back a year so he would be graduating with them.

"Well this is it, it's finally over. After this we're leaving Hogwarts for good." Ron said as he, Harry, and Hermione had stepped out into the courtyard.

"Yeah and tomorrow we'll all be graduating." Hermione began before she turned her head and looked back into the window where a bunch of screaming witches were busy watching the legendary wizard boyband The Dragons perform. Ginny, being one of them. "You do realize that you're never going to be able to get her out of there right?" She questioned Ron.

"Seventeen years old and yet she still acts like she's seven." Ron commented. "I would have thought that dating Harry would have calmed her down a tad, but I should have learned to never underestimate her." He said as Harry stifled a laugh.

"Sorry, but it looks like even the company of the legendary Harry Potter doesn't compete with being in the company of the famous Dragons." Hermione told him when suddenly Ginny came outside to join them breathing heavily and Hermione turned her head to look over at her. "I stand corrected." She said as Ron turned to look back at her.

"Let me guess." He began. "You lost your voice from screaming so much so you figured the night air might do you some good and cool you off a bit." He finished.

"Umm,.. no, actually." Ginny began. "I wanted to talk to Hermione." She told him before glancing over at her. "I don't know how to tell you this, but I'm pretty sure that you're not going to believe me anyway, but Draco Malfoy is looking for you." She told her as Harry's eyes widened at her.

"Draco Malfoy? The blonde-haired Slytherin bastard whose hated Hermione ever since our early years at Hogwarts?" Ron questioned her in disbelief. "That Draco Malfoy? What would he want with her!?" He cried out.

"How am I supposed to know I never learned legilimency!" She yelled back at him and Hermione glanced back over at Harry and Ron.

"Do you think I should go talk to him and find out what he wants?" She wondered.

"I wouldn't but Harry is going to tell you to do the opposite anyways so he can have some alone time with Ginny and I'm getting tired anyways, so I think I'm going to leave you on your own and turn in for the night." Ron replied before letting out a great big yawn and stretch and going back inside the castle.

"Some help he is." Hermione began before turning to look over at Harry and Ginny. "However, I think I'll go ahead and go. You two have been separated long enough and need some time to catch up with each other." She finished as she smiled at them both and they exchanged smiles with her before she walked back inside.

"I don't know what Malfoy's up to, but all I know is that Hermione's like an older sister of mine, so he better not hurt her. That is unless he wants to be turned into a dragonfly and be placed into a pond of frogs." Ginny said once Hermione had disappeared, and Harry stifled a laugh and took her by the hand.

"It's good to know you haven't changed." He told her. "Still as feisty as ever." He added as she narrowed her eyebrows and glared at him.

"Yeah, speaking of that,.." she began before slapping him upside the head. "You scared me! I thought that Voldemort killed you! And what did you think that you were doing just leaving me here to suffer without you!?" She hollered angrily at him.

"Ginny listen I_" He began.

"No! You listen!" She shouted back at him. "Sometimes I think you take advantage of me because you know I'm tough growing up with six brothers! Well just because I hardly ever cry, doesn't mean that my heart is indestructible!" She yelled while quickly turning her head away from him and this had been one of the few times that she had cried in front of anybody else, for tears were now streaming down her cheeks and she let out a sniff.

Harry suddenly felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. "Ginny, can I just please talk to you for a second?" He questioned her. "I wasn't trying to take advantage of you." He began. "Breaking up with you and ending our relationship was the hardest thing I've ever had to do it even comes second to facing Voldemort. I had to though. I had to do it in order to protect you." He told her as she continued avoiding eye contact with him.

"Does this mean you're going to change your mind about me now?" She questioned him with another sniff as she continued to sob.

"Because you're human and you have feelings? No. Why would I? Cho cried over every little thing and only ever talked about Cedric and that's why our relationship ended. You're hurt. You have every right to cry right now even though I just want to kick myself in the ass." He told her before wrapping his arms around her and pulling her inside his chest. "I think I have something that will make you feel better though." He told her while smiling rather warmly and lovingly down at her as he rested his chin down on the top of her head.

"What's that?" She wondered.

"I've been wanting to tell you something for a long time now and I figured now is probably the best time." He began and Ginny widened her eyes and let out a quiet gasp as she already had a feeling she knew where this was going. "I guess the Potter family really has a thing for gingers because first it was my dad who fell in love with a ginger and now,.. so have I." He told her softly before planting a kiss on the top of her head as now Ginny was half laughing and half crying.

"I don't know what to say." She replied and then broke out of the embrace to face him. "Then again, sometimes words simply aren't needed." She added before they both closed their eyes and kissed underneath the moonlight.
