The Tragedy of Summerhal in 259 AC nearly ended the whole House of Targaryen. The Prince Jaehaerys was now the new King Jaehaerys II Targaryen.

His sister-wife Shaera became his Queen and their only surviving Child Rhaella, who had been forced by her parents to marry her own brother Aerys barely an year ago, was now a young widow and new mother. She gave birth to her son Rhaegar amidst the burning walls of Summerhall.

Jaehaerys and Shaera had barely managed to escape the great fires but no one else was so lucky.

Aegon the V. and his wife Queen Betha burned the same as Duncan the Small and his Jenny and Ser Duncan of the Kingsguard. Prince Aerys was crushed by a burning beam when he tried to escape selfishly, even though his sister-wife who was in labor, begged him to help her.

Rhaella gave birth alone while everyone around her died. She cried of fear and screamed through her pain while her babe pushed his way out of her too young body.

With the last bit of her fleeting strength, she managed to take her newborn babe in her arms and then the flames engulfed them both.

A small creature climbed through the burning ruins of Summerhall and when it reached Rhaellas bed, it climbed onto it and then carefully shuffled till it was buried against the young Princess's neck. It chirped and then fell asleep.

When the Ruins of Summerhall were carefully pulled apart a day later, the Princess Rhaella was found asleep. Everything was burned away from her, her hair, her clothes, her bedcovers and her newborn babe. The Babe was burned to ashes.

Rhaellas body though was unburned, it glowed healthily and a small creature had wound itself around her neck. The small beast was of cream and golden scales and blood-red tiny wings.

Summerhall resulted in one Dragon brought to life and many People losing theirs.
The King and Queen were speechless, the Princess though looked at her Dragon and knew that her parents could never made her bow again to their will.

...

Rhaella named her Dragon 'Summerborn' for it was born in the fire of Summerhall.
The King and the Queen were not happy about that but what could they do?

Summerborn hissed whenever Jaehaerys or Shaera tried to come near him or Rhaella. The Red Keep had a tense atmosphere because of this but Rhaella had now all power in her hands.

She often thought back to when she begged her Grandfather and Grandmother to not allow her parents to marry her to her hated brother. She knew that her Grandfather had tried to ban this horrible incestuous tradition before but her own parents broke his ban. Later, all believed the Woodwitch prophecy.

Well, thought Rhaella to herself, now the plans of her parents had been destroyed and her Grandfathers plans ended in so many deaths, including his own. Rhaella often thought about the Babe, her little son that she birthed that day, her little son that was born into a World of fire and that died through it before he could really draw his first breath. She forced herself to believe that he felt no pain when he died.

She though, she was alive and she was the last child of her parents and she had a Dragon that hated her own parents.

Two months after the tragedy of Summerhall happened and all official signs of mourning were gone from the City and the Red Keep, Princess Rhaella sent for the young Knight that crowned her the Queen of Love and Beauty before she was forced into her marriage. Ser Bonifer Hasty came as swiftly as possible and while nearly everyone gritted their teeth about how lowstandig the Knight was in relation to the Princess, Rhaella managed to still force her father to agree to her betrothal to the Knight.

After a year of mourning as a widow, she would marry the Knight, who would then lay down his name and all children that would hopefully come out of this marriage would be Targaryens. Everyone was against that but what should they do?

Summerborn grew rapidly on Dragonstone where Rhaella lived for her mourning year with only a couple of servants, while the Royal Court and her fiance stayed in the Red Keep.

A few weeks before the mourning time ended though, the 'War of the ninepenny Kings' broke out. Many fought against the enemies and many died before the last Blackfyre was killed by the young Knight Barristan Selmy. One of the many men who lost their live, was Rhaellas fiance. Ser Bonifer Hasty died through a swordstrike of Maelys Blackfyre, only moments before that monster was attacked by Ser Selmy, so the witnesses told the Princess afterwards.

Rhaella was now without a fiance, without a loved one again. Summerborn was now around the size of a large horse but still too young to ride or to fly on.

She was back in the Red Keep with her Dragon, looked at her parents and saw that both of them grew weak and weaker. The last few years were too much for the weak constitution of her father but everyone was rightfully surprised when the Queen was the first to die. Her heart gave out, half a year after the Ninepenny War ended.

The King followed barely four weeks later and so the Year 261 AC ended with Rhaella Targaryen becoming Queen at age 16.

Everyone had wanted immediately after the war for her to marry her Cousin and nearest Heir of Targaryen Blood, Steffon Baratheon but she denied. Now that she was Queen, he was already married to a Stormlander Lady and she was pregnant.

Rhaella knew that she had to marry soon, she was the first true Queen on the Iron Throne, the one time before, when a women had the right to be Queen, she was a bad one and had younger halfsiblings and it all ended in the Dance of the Dragons.

Queen Rhaella was supported by the Stormlands and her Dragon was a good argument too but she really needed a husband as quickly as possible.

Luckily there was a Knight that grew famous in the last War, was a great warrior and behaved uninterested in the Court when he was received by the King and Queen directly after the War.

Queen Rhaella send her offer to him and to his brother. His greedy brother immediately jumped for the honor to become goodbrother to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms but the Knight that Rhaella wanted to marry, tried to escape his brothers Keep.

He was caught though, bound tightly and then immediately shipped to King's Landing. When he arrived days later, he was seething and unwilling to agree to the Queens wishes.

The next couple of weeks were loud but then, six weeks after he was brought to the Red Keep and half a year after Rhaella became the first true Queen, he finally agreed.

A month later, Queen Rhaella married Ser Brynden Tully who let go of his family name for his new wife. The Dragon Summerborn was finally big enough to carry riders and the new couple flew seven rounds together on the shimmering Dragon around the Capital City.

It was the begin of a new era.
