For This, You Were Born
Summary: Hermione didn't want to leave, she wanted to stay. Looking up to the man she fell in love with, the man she knew she shouldn't have gotten close too for what he will do in the future...Hermione gave him a watery smile as she looked down at her hands which were slowly becoming transparent, "I'll find you again...No matter what...so please don't forget me." That was the last thing Tom Riddle heard before the only person he loved disappeared out of his life...and with her gone, his humanity disappeared.
Pairing: Hermione/Tom Riddle
Chapter One
Whispers
They were all around her, as she walked barefoot through the forest, the candle being held in her hands as he white lace dress, with blood spatters on the trim, brushed the forest floor. Her hair was loose, letting her somewhat tamed curls bounce against her back with each step.
The whispers grew, making her turn around, candle in hand. Her dark brown eyes, taking in her surroundings as a bird cawed overhead and flew away. She frowned as she saw the slight glow in the distance between the trees. Her curiosity getting the better of her, she moved off the path to go through a vine patch, before she was shown another path. This path was different though. The leaves and sticks have been moved away, and the whole path on each side had rocks. The ones that stuck out to her were Amethyst, obsidian, charoite. There were a few other rocks but she wouldn't name them on the top of her head. Hanging from the branches were bundles of herbs, scattered as they hung down above her head as she walked the path.
As she walked, the whispers started to sound more like chanting. It sounded like Latin, but she could only make out some of the words.
Protection.
Find
Gift
Power.
She frowned as she moved into a clearing, she frowned seeing a table filled to the brim with burning candles of all sizes. She neared and could see what looked like to be a gold chalice and a black dagger with no hilt, with gold runes carved into the blade. She felt herself take a step forward taking the dagger and cutting the palm of her hand as she held it over the chalice. Blood dripped down into the chalice.
Once
Twice
Thrice
...the cup glowed as she then added a few herbs that were sitting in small bottles, before adding water.
She breathed in before taking the chalice in one hand and dipping one of her fingers into the mixture, and the dark red, almost black liquid glittering in the full moon looking down on her. She then took the fingers with the mixture and drew on her forehead, before pain enveloped her, and her body hitting the ground as a scrap left her lips.
Hermione breathed in as she shot up in bed, the remnants of her dream on the forefront of her brain, she took a deep breath and propped herself up more in the bed, wincing as felt pain shot through her hand. Bringing her hand up, she paled as she saw blood dripping down from a long cut on the palm of her hand. It looked fresh as it was still bleeding freely.
"What the..." Hermione muttered as she felt something cool run down her face, she brought her hand up to her head to feel something on her face. Quickly getting out of her bed, making sure to be quiet as she glanced around the dorm room, everyone was still asleep. She grabbed her wand from the side table and quickly made her way into the conjoined bathroom to the dorm.
She blinked as she stood in front of one of the bathroom mirrors, eyes field with confusion as she saw her forehead smeared with dark red, dripping down the bridge of her nose and starting to run down her cheek. She ignored it. She turned the sink on, letting the water wash the blood on her hand away to see a clean-cut on her palm, pinky across the palm to her thumb. It wasn't too deep, but deep enough for it to bleed for a while.
Hermione quickly used her wand to do a simple healing spell and sighed when the cut closed and the stinging from the cut was gone. She then looked into the mirror again and touched the still wet substance on her face.
She had no clue what happened, and she knew none of her dorm mates would do something like this. She grabbed a washrag and wet it in the sink before slowly wiping her face, having to do it more than once to get the sticky feeling off her face. Once her face felt clean she looked up and gasped in horror.
There on her forehead were dark black markings, it was a symbol she had seen before, but she didn't know the meaning. She did remember that it was the markings of the moon phases, meaning the maiden, the mother, and the crone. She had only seen the symbol once but it had been so brief she would have to look it up again. Under the marks, there were three filled-in circles of different sizes, and lines on her nose and over her eyes. There were also two filled in circles above the main marking and two unfilled circles on each side of the main marking on her forehead.
Hermione gently touched the markings on her face and began to panic.
"What is going on..." She yelped as she used the rag with soap to try to get it off, but she had a feeling it would be to no avail. The markings looked more like tattoos than anything.
"What am I going to do." She bit her lip, setting the dirty cloth down, and turning the water off. She didn't know what to do and knew markings showing up on one's body like this was far from normal. Dread filled her stomach as Hermione glanced at the mirror again, something inside of her telling her to hide it. Tell no one.
Glancing at the door she heard movement and the sound of laughter, she tightened her hand on her wand and quickly muttered a concealment charm over her face, and bit her lip as she tried to figure out a way to get the markings to disappear.
Though, deep down she had a feeling they were going to be harder to get rid of than she wanted...if she could get rid of them.
She had been having these weird dreams for the last couple of weeks, but never had something like this be the outcome. She knew today, being Sunday, would be a day she would be stuck in the library figuring out what these markings meant. She had to figure it out.
"Good morning!" A chirpy voice came through the bathroom, startling her a bit. She forced a smile on her face as she turned to look at the person.
"Morning Lavender." the blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl grinned as she made her way to the mirror. The girl was dressed and Hermione knew her daily routine was going to start, hair and makeup.
"Happy Birthday too!" Lavender chirped, her bright smile making Hermione falter.
'Birthday.' Hermione thought, 'could that be why this happened?' She shook her head at the thought and gave Lavender a more genuine smile.
"Thank you. I almost forgot. I am afraid I am not fully awake yet. I didn't sleep that well last night." She was usually more put together in the mornings. She usually was dressed and ready before Lavender or any of the other girls in the dorm.
"I just figured you were taking a day to relax since it was your birthday. Did you have anything planned today?" Lavender asked as she was using spells to do her hair.
"No. I think I may relax and read and maybe go sit by the lake today." She was going to research today no matter what Harry and Ron said to her. It was her birthday so she would do as she pleased today.
"Then have a good birthday!" Lavender told her as she quickly made her way out of the bathroom, she was going to change and head down to breakfast. The quicker she got the necessities out of the way for the day, the quicker she would try to solve what was going on in her life.
As she got dressed, she didn't notice under the glamor charm, a few more markings appearing. She would be in for a rather big surprise once the charm was removed.
Yuki Note: I have the first few chapters of this done. I am testing the waters before I start to write more, seeing how people like it. If it is well received I plan to do two updates a week.
