Chapter 49 Moving Forward
Korra stood at the meditation center on Air Temple Island seeing the large statue of her husband that was built after they left Republic City three years ago with him stabbing the blade of Olympus down.
Ever since that fateful day when he died and came back Korra had trained beyond her limits to make herself even stronger than ever with both her bending and magic.
She even learned how to become a truth seer like Aiwei was before they learned he was a spy.
So she knew Sean was telling the Truth about coming here when he left 2 weeks ago.
Knowing that she could only worry about him since if he didn't arrive here something clearly had happened to him on his way here.
She knew Zeus wasn't the one since he would have just attacked when he was vulnerable since he wasn't fully corrupted just yet.
But she was still worried for her husband's life.
"Korra?" Tenzin said walking to her making her sigh.
"I can't stay here. I need to find him." Korra said.
"Listen I understand exactly what your going through but..." Tenzin tried to say.
"No you don't understand. I knew I shouldn't have let him go alone. I knew something might happen on his way here and I was right. Now he's missing again god knows whats happening to him." Korra said worried for his well being.
"Listen. I do understand. We will find him I promise. But right now you need to stay here since you being here puts people at ease since Kuvira...People are concerned about her because of her methods. They scare people. Thats why you need to stay here." Tenzin said making her sigh.
"Tenzin I can't lose him again. Things were perfect for those three years since we didn't have to worry about anything for the first time since Ares showed up. All we did was raise the girls and have a happy life." Korra said.
"I know. We will find him. Jinora, Ikki and Meelo are looking for him right now. But right now you need to stay." Tenzin said making her sigh.
"Ok." Korra said.
"Where is Daddy?" Annabeth asked making her presence known as she was behind the entrance making Korra smile as she picked her up.
"We're gonna find him honey I promise." Korra said.
"Is he coming back?" Annabeth asked.
"Of course he is. We just need to know what happened to him is all." Korra said holding her close.
Meanwhile
Sean sighed as he held his face in his hands.
"You've had quit an ordeal for the last three years." Hepheastus said working on something.
"You know about that Huh?" Sean asked.
"Rather difficult not to know. The whole world on the brink of destruction? Kinda hard not to figure out what exactly happened since there was no other explanation." Hephaestus said pounding his hammer down.
"So...How long have you been here?" Sean asked.
"Oh I've been here for the last 90 years or so. I move from one location to the next every two centuries to avoid detection. Your mother wasn't the only one in Greece to not be corrupted by the Devil himself." Hephaestus said.
"You knew?" Sean asked.
"I do now. Word travels in here. Toph is pretty connected through the vines." Hephaestus said.
"Wait Toph Beifong? Lin and Suyin's mother is here?" Sean asked surprised.
"Of course. She lives just north of here about a few miles. She checks up on me every now and then. Keep each other company. She wasn't exactly happy though when she learned Lin tried to have you killed by the law because of her flawed beliefs." Hephaestus said making him snort.
"Oh yeah. Thats something I don't forget so easily." Sean said.
"So you look physically fine. But emotionally on the other hand though. Your haunted by what had happened 3 years ago. Not hard to see. Though I can't blame you." Hephaestus said.
"Dying or coming close to death is not something one gets over easy. Sure I bounced back from the first time I almost died because of Unalaq. But this...That was just one fight too many and almost lost everything I love." Sean said.
"That I can perfectly understand. Death or coming close to it effects us all in many ways and those around us. But it can also lead to some good changes in our lives as well. I've seen this many times before hand." Hephaestus said.
"Meaning what?" Sean asked.
"Theres something I want you to do. Go to a certain part of the swamp. There is something you need to see. And you shall get some answers as to why you are here." Hephaestus said making him raise an eyebrow before standing up and left.
"You really think this will help?" Hephastus asked before Athena appeared.
"He needs to move past what he's been through. It's the only way he'll finally recover from his experience and move on." Athena said.
"I agree but still. Sending him here alone in his condition is risky." Hephaestus said.
"I know. But it needs to be done." Athena said.
Meanwhile
Korra laughed as she watched her daughters play in the water before Calliope waterbended Katara to the shore before she charged back in.
Just like their mother all three were pure water benders much to her joy so she could teach them.
"I see those three are having some fun here." Turok said sitting down next to her.
"HAHAHAHA! Even away from the South those three are still in their element." Korra laughed happy to see her daughters having fun despite their father was missing.
"So...You wanna talk about it? My brother?" Turok asked making her sigh.
"I just...I don't understand. I know he wasn't lying about coming here so what happened?" Korra asked.
"Maybe something came up. Maybe his mother has something to do with this." Turok said.
"Without telling me?" Korra asked.
"You can't be told about everything. Some things are meant to be done alone for certain outcomes. My brother helped me get past what happened to my tribe long ago before he ever went back to the South. Maybe she's trying to help him move past his experience and move on." Turok said.
"Maybe. I just...I don't want to feel helpless and not be there for him." Korra said.
"Relax. I'm sure he's fine wherever he is. Besides I'm sure Zeus is keeping an eye on him." Turok said.
"I hope so...I'm just so worried for him." Korra said before she got splashed by Annabeth making her look at her with a grin.
"Uh oh." Katara said.
"Oh you girls are gonna get it now." Korra said rushing down making them laugh and squeal while Turok chuckled.
"I get the feeling he's gonna be just fine wherever he is." Turok said.
Meanwhile
Sean sighed as he walked through the swamp area Hephaestus told him to go to.
"The hell am I even looking for anyway?" Sean asked.
Thats when he heard some strange noises coming from further in the swamp making him frown before moving further in to investigate.
When he did however he widened his eyes seeing Amon when he took Korra's bending away and how he was helpless to stop him from doing so.
"I told you I would destroy you." Amon said.
Growling he turned around only to see Unalaq heavily wound him with a sick grin on his face.
"NOW YOU DIE!" Unalaq roared before Sean snapped his neck and fell backwards from his wounds.
Panting from these memories he turned around before seeing himself screaming as his heart was crushed by Zaheer's parasite before Chaos erupted from his death with the power of the gods unleashed.
"AHHHH!" Sean yelled as he fell to his knees panting in exhaustion.
"I'm going to assume you saw some of your worst memories am I right?" Hephaestus asked walking to him.
"WHAT...Is this fucking place?" Sean asked.
"This swamp has a knack for showing us certain things. Things we lost...Things we want...And things we need to see." Hephaestus said.
"All I saw was my worst memories from the last 5 years." Sean said.
"Indeed. However you haven't moved past these events." Hephaestus said.
"I have moved past them." Sean said standing up.
"Clearly you haven't or they wouldn't have appeared. I know all about the dangers you faced shortly before that day. The enemies you fought and the gods you've killed and absorbed. But the ones like Amon, Unalaq and Zaheer you are still haunted by these memories." Hephaestus said.
"How would you know?" Sean asked.
"Let me ask you this? What did each of these people want? What did Amon want? Equality for all by taking everyone's bending away since in his view it was the source of all suffering in these lands. Unalaq? He wanted to bring back the spirits but at the same time destroy the world to make way for a new one in which he would have his way. And Zaheer and the Red Lotus believed in Freedom." Hephaestus said.
"Where you going with this?" Sean asked.
"The problem was, these people were completely out of balance, and they took their ideologies too far. Amon couldn't see the good in benders like you did. Unalaq couldn't accept the world wasn't like him. And Zaheer wanted chaos thinking it was the natural order which it never was" Hephastus said.
"I know that but I did get over these events since...They helped me and Korra lead to some good things in our lives." Sean said.
"My point exactly." Hephaestus said making him look at him. "After Amon was killed you revealed your father's most vile deed to Korra since you feared you would repeat it but she convinced you that wouldn't happen and her predecessor gave her bending back before you two confessed how you two felt. After Unalaq and Vaatu were defeated you two later decided to have a family of your own. And Zaheer? You decided to spend all your time with your family not caring that your connection to the other gods being broken." Hephaestus said making him nod.
"Yeah." Sean said smiling at those good things.
"You must accept what happened in your past and move forward. It's a step in reclaiming who you were." Hephaestus said tossing him his axe which Sean tried to hold before his hand began to shake for a few seconds. "Moving forward in your life is all we can do. If we remain chained to our past...We can never move on and enjoy the lives we have now." Hephaestus said as his hand stopped shaking. "Let me show you something." Hephaestus said as they walked away.
Arriving at the center of the Swamp they saw a large tree.
"Holy crap." Sean said impressed.
"The Roots of the Banyangrove tree spread out for miles in every direction, connecting this whole swamp." Hephaestus said.
"This whole swamp is connected?" Sean asked.
"To the whole world." Hephaestus said before Sean touched the roots before he began to see everywhere on Earth.
"Whoa." Sean said.
"SEAN!"
Sean turned before seeing Jinora and her siblings on Dojo.
"Guys?" Sean asked as they landed before the kids rushed to him and hugged him making him laugh. "My god look at you three. You keep growing." Sean said making them smile as Dojo wrapped his neck.
"Ah I missed you buddy." Dojo said making him chuckle before Hephastus cleared his throat.
"Oh. These are Jinora, Ikki, Meelo and Dojo. This is Hephaestus." Sean said.
"Wait the Smithing god?" Jinora asked.
"The very same. Athena wasn't the only one who avoided the corruption. There are so few of us left regretfully." Hephaestus said.
"We're here to bring you home. Korra and the girls miss you." Jinora said to Sean.
"Mmm." Sean said.
"It's time you let go of what happened in your past and move on and enjoy what you have now." Hephaestus said.
"Your right. Let's go home." Sean said as Dojo grew before they got on.
"You were right to send him here after all." Hephaestus said walking away.
Later
Korra laughed seeing her daughters play using waterbending on each other.
"Annabeth don't be so rough." Korra said.
"Yes Mommy." Annabeth said.
"They've grown up so much." Senna said making her smile before they spotted Dojo flying towards the island making Korra smile as she ran to them as Dojo landed before Sean and the others got off.
"Sean?" Korra said making him sigh before he faced her making her eyes widen seeing the scar on his chest before she walked to him placing her hand on it. "Oh honey." Korra said.
"It's all right. It's already healed. Sorry to worry ya." Sean said.
"Where the hell were you?" Korra asked.
"In the swamps. I was on my way here but when I fell asleep and woke up I found myself there. Figured my mother was trying to tell me something. And I found it." Sean said holding his axe for the first time in three years without it shaking making her smile.
"I'm just glad you're ok." Korra said making him smile as he held her before they heard the girls making him grin before he walked to them before seeing Annabeth freeze her sisters.
"I win!" Annabeth cheered.
"I don't think thats exactly fair sweetheart." Sean said making them look at him.
"Daddy!" They yelled rushing to him making him smile as he held them close.
"I missed you three so much." Sean said making Korra smile.
"Where'd you get that?" Calliope asked seeing his scar.
"Oh...I'll tell you another time." Sean said.
Later
"So you met Hephastus and he helped you gain some of your warrior spirit back?" Korra
"Partially. I can hold my Axe and blades of Chaos and Sokka's sword again. Not sure if I can actually fight though." Sean said holding his axe.
"Well, hopefully we don't have to find out soon." Tonraq said.
"We're just glad you're ok. But how did you end up in the swamp?" Senna asked.
"I think my mother sent me there. Last thing I remember was falling asleep on the boat to here and then I wake up there. Figured she was trying to tell me something." Sean said.
"She always is in some way." Mimir said on Sean's side.
Walking outside Sean sighed as he held his face looking at the beach seeing the girls playing in the water along with Naga making him smile.
"They really missed you." Korra said making him face her.
"I know. I hated leaving you and the girls like that but..." Sean tried to say before she kissed him.
"It's ok. I understand why you left two weeks early. I'm just glad you're ok." Korra said making him smile as he held her. "By the way...Since my parents are here why don't we let them watch the girls while we..." Korra trailed off making him chuckle.
"I knew you were gonna say that. You are so predictable." Sean said making her giggle as they walked off.
"Mom can you keep an eye on the girls while we're gone?" Korra asked her mother making her giggle.
"Don't worry I'll keep an eye on them." Senna said as the two left.
Soon they arrived at their old home they had in Republic City.
"Mmm. I missed this place." Sean said.
"So did I. I wanted to raise the girls here but Raiko was too dangerous back then." Korra said as he held her face and kissed her making her moan before he held her hair. "What?" Korra asked.
"I think you look better with longer hair." Sean said making her giggle smacking his chest.
"I can grow it back later. Right now though." Korra said removing her short before he took off her pants showing her blue bra and thong before Sean latched onto her neck making her sigh in bliss as he kissed her neck. "Mmm." Korra moaned before he took her bra off and latched onto her breasts making her whimper as she held his head.
Grabbing his lower clothing she pulled them off leaving him bare before she reached down and stroked him off making Sean growl lightly before he took her thong off and pushed her down on the bed making her giggle before he stood right over her making her smile as she wrapped her arms and legs around him before he thrusted into her deeply making her moan loudly before pulling him into a kiss.
Korra moaned as Sean continued to thrust into her before he pulled back from her mouth before kissing her neck making her whine lightly as she held his head close.
"I missed you so much." Korra said as he continued to thrust into her making him grin as he kissed her again.
"I missed you too." Sean said before changing positions with her on top of him as she bounced up and down on him with a grin.
Grasping her hips tightly Korra moaned louder as She bounced on him before he leaned up and latched onto her breast making her groan as she held him closer to her breasts while her held her hips tightly.
After a long while Korra felt her climax approaching before feeling him twitch inside her making her double her efforts before gasping as she came hard before whimpering as she felt him come inside her before both collapsed on the bed as Sean held her close.
"I love you so much." Korra said making him smile.
"I love you too...And I promise I won't leave you again." Sean said making her smile softly.
"I know." Korra said as they rested for a while before they would pick up the girls.
