Chapter 4: Preparations

Gohan quickly rode his bike until he reached the outskirts of the city. When he made sure no one was around, he got up and held the transportation device over his shoulder as he flew towards his house. If Videl's mom insisted on giving him a ride, they would have had a million questions; specially on how fast he would ride his bike so he could come back home before the sun sets.

He continued his trip, a big smile plastered on his face. Interacting with people his age was easier than what he thought. Erasa and Videl were very friendly, and Videl's mom was very wise. It seemed that she and her daughter had a very strong bond together. He was surprised when she didn't insist on paying for his lunch, at first she appeared very determined; but again, lunch in restaurants were more expensive than a home cooked meal, they didn't have to pay for his platter. But he couldn't wait to eat what his mom had prepared for dinner, her cooking was the best he's ever had.

A few minutes later, he landed near his house and set his bike near the door. He then knocked gently, to avoid startling his mother and he entered their small house. As soon as he opened the door, an aroma of noodles, vegetables, fish, and rice took over his senses and, in an instant, his stomach started demanding the amazing food his mother was so proud to prepare.

He entered the kitchen and saw his mother chopping vegetables and putting them in the frying pot. She smiled when she saw him, asking him about his day "So sweetie, how was your lunch?"
He kissed her cheek, helping her set the table "It was good. Videl's mother is very nice, and the girls are really friendly. But the portions are very small for their prices. I don't know why people like going to places like this a lot."
Chi-Chi chuckled lightly as she washed her hands "Sweetie, the portions are usually fine. You eat more food than normal humans, it's normal you find them small." She then looked at her son with her usual motherly glare "You didn't let them pay, yes? How much did it cost?"
Gohan nodded firmly at his mother "I paid. It's okay mom, I took it from my allowance. Can we eat? And where's Goten?"
Chi-Chi chuckled at her son, ruffling your hair "He's asleep. Go wash your hands. You're just like your father, always thinking about food. After you eat, you have to study."

Gohan nodded at his mother as he started to devour the mountain of food in front of him. He started to tell her more about Erasa, Videl and her mother. The Son matron seemed very interested in them, curiosity taking over her. These girls were becoming her son's friends, she was bound to know more about them. Were they well-mannered? Educated? Polite? She didn't want anyone to be a bad influence on her baby boy. She then started asking her son questions about what the girls wore, how they ate and spoke. But then again, Gohan was his father's son, and he surely was as oblivious as his father on these.

He scratched the back of his neck, chuckling lightly "I didn't pay attention to their clothes. I think Erasa was wearing a skirt and a shirt, Videl a dress, and her mother was wearing either a dress or pants, I don't know. Was I supposed to pay attention to these?"
Chi-Chi rolled her eyes, ruffling his hair "You're your father's son. No don't worry, you're too young for this." Gohan nodded and continued eating while his mother was thinking about something. She then looked at her son, a hint of excitement in her eyes "Why don't you invite them to pass a day here?" Gohan almost chocked on his food, as he started drinking water to pass it.

His mother rolled her eyes at him "Gohan, where are your manners?"
The teen blushed lightly "I'm sorry. Why do you want to invite them? We barely know them."
The mother nodded at him as she got up to start washing the accumulating plates "This is why. I know nothing about the girls you are spending your days with. We know their names, age, and that they go to school. I have the right to know more about them. Next time you go to the city, invite them for a day." She then started thinking "And Videl's mother, why not. If Erasa's want to come also. I should meet their mothers." She saw him nod at her shyly, and she smirked "Perfect then. And who knows, maybe one of them will become your future wife?"
Gohan turned red at his mother's words and he quickly shook his head. He was barely twelve, why is his mother thinking about this? She chuckled lightly at him before she ordered him to go wash and study. He had spent the whole day in the city, he had some catching up to do. That's the price you pay for playing all day.

Gohan reached his room and sat on his bed. How did he get into this mess? How did he pass from no friends at all to having friends coming over? It was nice, having a little normality. Having friends that were his age, and his, not his father. And even though he really enjoyed passing time with Piccolo, he was a green genderless alien. Maybe it could be a good thing, but what could they do here? How much time would it take them to come here? What if they got bored? What if they got hurt? How did his mind drifted from "it's nice to have friends" to this? He needed to sleep. He quickly finished the physics exercises he had and hopped to bed.

Erasa and Videl were sitting on the swings, talking about this and that. Their spring vacations were coming close and they didn't have any idea what to do. Videl's father was still away, and the girl barely wanted to talk to him. He didn't call the day he missed the school's event; instead, he waited for the next day and got an earful from her mother. A month had passed since this day, and the girl was getting angrier at him. Don't try and convince her he didn't have a single day off to come and spend the day with his family.

Then, someone started clicking their fingers in front of her, and Videl shook her head. She then fell off the swing when she saw Erasa's face up close to hers, which made the blonde girl laugh "You should see the look on your face. You with me? Your mom's gonna finish her shift soon. Wanna go home?"
Videl got up, dusting the sand of her clothes and she nodded her head at her friend. After she got clean, they made their way towards the Satan household.

They arrived, and saw the living room's light on and they quickly rushed inside. They saw Videl's mom on the phone, and she shushed them with her finger, motioning at them to sit on the couch "Okay? Perfect then. I'll tell them right now."

Videl knew very well the look on her mom's face. She looked at Erasa, as excited as ever, and her mother chuckled "Can't hide anything from you, can I?" She then looked at both of them, as she sat between them on the couch "What do you say we go on a small trip, the three of us, during your spring break? I just got Erasa's parents' confirmation. I just need your okay, so I can tell you my idea."
Both girls nodded and Hoshiko smiled at them "I don't know if that's your idea of vacation, but what do you say we go to the mountains?" They looked at her, waiting for more details "Look girls, Gohan seemed like a good guy, and you were very surprised when he told you about the way he lives. So I thought, why not ask him if we could pass a day or two in the mountains, and you can learn more about the culture there? I know it doesn't really sound like a vacation, but it can be nice." They tilted their head at her and she continued "Look, they are a lot of activities you can do there. The weather is perfect, and there are amazing places to swim."
Videl looked at her mother and Erasa who rose her shoulders at her "Mommy, don't you think it's a little early to ask Gohan that? I mean, you saw him once. And he didn't come to the city for a month."
Hoshiko chuckled lightly and she looked at the girls "Look, you're not kids anymore, so I can tell you this. People who live in the mountains don't always have a lot of money, okay? If Gohan comes here only for groceries, it will be when they can't find it up there. And here, everything is more expensive. Paying for his burger the last time he came, could have cost him his whole allowance. You both have the chance to be born into wealthy families, that can afford almost everything you want. You even have the chance to go to school, while he has to get home schooled so he and his brother can have dinner on their table every night. I'm not saying this so you pity him, I just want you both to be grateful for what you have, okay?" Both girls nodded and she smiled at him "I still have his home number and I was thinking of asking his mother about an inn to stay for the weekend. It could be nice for both you to experience this. You'll get to learn many things and meet different people."
Erasa nodded at Hoshiko "My parents are okay with me going?"
The mother shook her head "Yes, they thought it could be great. There are always activities you can do in the mountains that can be found in the city. The air is cleaner, you get to see a lot of new animals and plants. It's a great experience." She then ruffled their hair "Look, I know we barely know Gohan, but he seems to be a great boy. And to be honest, I was thinking about doing a trip like this for a long time, but since we met him, he could make it easier, give us some pointers. He doesn't have to stay with us if you don't want it, but it will help to have someone who knows the area. Give us some insights on the animals and which villages grows what so we know where to get our groceries. Think about it and let me know what you think, okay?"
They both nodded at her and she kissed the top of their head before she left them alone and went towards the kitchen.

Erasa looked at Videl, who was thinking about the situation "What do you say? Wanna go or not?"
Videl started rubbing her hands together, a habit she had when she was thinking about something. Eventually, she looked at her friend "Isn't it a little too soon to ask someone we barely know to plan us a trip? We've seen him twice and he ate with us once. We know nothing about him."
Erasa roller her eyes at her friend. She was way too pensive, it will be the end of her "Vi, we're only asking him about a few things. We already went to the beach last year, it could be fun. I always wanted to climb on trees. Imagine live sized monkey bars. And we won't have to see him every day. Just the first day so he can help us, then it's our vacation." Erasa then smirked at her, knowing very well how to convince her "Don't you wanna see if all the weird plants and animals you saw in this gross book you read are real? I know you're curious."
Videl rolled her eyes at her friend, trying to hide her excitement. She was right, maybe she could get to see them up close. She then thought for a while, clearly making a list of pros and cons while she counted things on her fingers, and she looked at Erasa who was watching her as if she was possessed "What?"
Erasa laughed at her "You are so weird. Let's tell your mom, come on." She then held her hand as she dragged her across the living room.

Hoshiko saw them entering the kitchen excitedly and she smiled at them "I take it that I can make the phone call?"
Both girls nodded and the Satan matron browsed through her phone for the number.

Chi-Chi was settling her living room in order, after a cyclone called Goten didn't keep anything in its place. This boy was way to energetic for his own good. And poor Gohan was the one who had to make him lose said energy before the youngest half-Saiyan destroyed the house.

While she was arranging the chairs around the dining table, she heard the phone and she went to pick it up "Hello, Son residence. How can I help you?"
She heard a voice she never heard before on the other line, and she prayed to Dende it wasn't one of those weird companies trying to sell her things "Hello. Is this Gohan's mother?"
Chi-Chi was startled when she heard her son's name, and she quickly glared at him through the window. Just what did this son of hers do this time? "Yes, I'm Chi-Chi. May I ask what this is about?"
The other voice quickly took an excited tone "Hello, I'm Hoshiko, Videl's mother. I don't know if Gohan told you about her." Chi-Chi replied with a yes, allowing the other mother to continue, appealing to the Son matron's curiosity. If Gohan did anything wrong, he would get an earful he'll never forget "Mrs. Son, I know our kids haven't known each other for a long time but, I wanted to ask you for a small favor."
Chi-Chi quickly rolled her eyes. These city people were so conciliatory, it was unbelievable. But she was polite, and decided to let the woman speak before she sent her packing "Mrs. Son, my daughter and her friend Erasa, I guess Gohan mentioned her too, have a small vacation from school coming next week. To be honest, I was always curious about how people live in the mountains and when I met your son, he struck my curiosity. So I decided to take the girls on a small trip to your area, to help them learn more about your ways of living. I thought it could be a good experience for them to know that they are people who live differently than us."
Chi-Chi was surprised to say the least. Never in her life she thought that the people in the city were actually curious about their ways of living. The Son mother decided to answer, seeing that the other mother was silent "I have to say I'm surprised. I never thought you would be interested in our ways of living. Can I ask what made you take this decision?"
She could hear the other mother chuckling lightly "I get your surprise. To be honest with you, I was always curious and I thought of taking the girls on a trip like this when they got older. But then something happened with your son that made me realize that now might be a good idea for them to know that they are other ways of living."
Chi-Chi quickly responded, not liking the mention of Gohan "With my son? What did he do? If he didn't behave well or hurt anyone in any way…"
The other mother quickly cut her off "Mrs. Son, I'm sorry, you misunderstood. Your son was nothing but a gentleman. And to tell you the truth, I feel like I owe him a little for the way he treated my daughter. I don't want to lie to you, it was actually his behavior at the restaurant that got me thinking. My daughter and her friend always had an easy life, thank Kami for that. Seeing that Gohan never set foot in a restaurant, or that he didn't let me pay, fearing that it will be too much for me, made me realize that I had to teach the girls the importance of what they have. You know, to be grateful. After Gohan explained to us how you live with the neighboring villages, I found it as the perfect opportunity to teach the girl this small lesson."
A small silence could be heard until Chi-Chi talked again "Thank you for this. We don't always get remarks like this. People in the city tend to think of us as cavemen, they don't know that people can have it hard. How can we be of help?"
She heard the other mother tell something to the girls, and Chi-Chi could hear them talk excitedly, an action that made the Son mother smile. Her son surely found good friends. Eventually, Hoshiko spoke "I want them to experience living in the mountains for a weekend. We can come on Friday morning until Sunday afternoon. If you could tell me if there's an inn where we could sleep, and if Gohan could help us prepare some small activities to pass the weekend."
Chi-Chi started thinking for a while, looking at her son by the window. She then smiled lightly as he waved at her from outside and she turned her attention back to the phone "I'm sorry I kept you waiting." She could hear the other mother tell her it was okay and she continued "You won't need an inn. You can come sleep at our house. I'm sure the kids can have a good time, and it will be easier if they need something from Gohan." She heard the mother telling her they didn't want to impose and Chi-Chi quickly continued "To tell you the truth, they aren't many inns in the areas. For this reason, renting a room in the ones present might be a little expensive."
Hoshiko quickly put the phone on speaker, motioning at the girls to stay quiet, ready to give them their first lesson "If you don't me asking, how much is the room? Do you have any idea?"
The girls heard Gohan's mother on the other line "If you want a room fitting enough for three people, it will cost you around 150 zenis for the night. If you want I can call the inn and reserve a room, but do you really want to pay 300 zenis for a room you won't really need? You didn't even pay for the food yet."
Hoshiko nodded firmly at the girls who were very surprised and she replied "You're right. But we really don't want to impose. We'll figure it out."
Chi-Chi quickly answered back "Non sense. You won't impose at all. I'm sure Gohan will be very happy to see you. It's the least I can do, it's been a while since I've seen him this happy. If you want to think about it, take your time and let me know what's your decision's gonna be."
The Satan mother smiled at the girls and replied "Sure, I'll call you tomorrow to work out the details. But I think we'll do it your way."
They heard Chi-Chi responding with "You're more than welcomed." before the line cut.

Both girls looked at Videl's mother, very surprised, and Videl spoke first "Only 150 zenis for the night? We spent more than that yesterday at the cake shop."
Hoshiko ruffled her hair "Now you know the blessings you have. You understand now when I told you that Gohan couldn't easily afford restaurants? The burger he paid costs almost 50 zenis, so you can imagine. That's your first lesson. Now, come and help me prepare dinner and we can discuss all the details for our trip."
Both girls nodded as they went to wash their hands.

Erasa elbowed Videl on their way to the bathroom "I feel bad for Gohan. Do you think we should bring him a little gift?"
Videl started thinking a little before she nodded "Yeah we can. But we do it. I don't want him to feel bad if we bought something. He might think it's because we pity him."
Erasa jumped excitedly, almost knowing her head off a counter "YEAH! We have art class tomorrow. We could do something then, and finish it at my house. My sister has a room full of painting and crafting stuff."
They both laughed and started jumping excitedly, preparing for this trip. Hoshiko saw them from the hallway and smiled. This was an excellent idea. It was an experience they'll never forget. And even though she knew both girls since they were babies, she was surprised to see them this grownup. Kids surely could surprise you.

In the Son's household, Gohan entered the house with a very tired Goten. Chi-Chi chuckled at him as she held her youngest son "He's finally out. Didn't give you too much trouble?"
Gohan smiled at his mother, taking a sip of water "It's okay, I'm used to this. Who was on the phone? Bulma?"
His mother shook her head as she entered her room to put Goten in his crib "No. You're not gonna believe who it was." Gohan tilted his head, waiting for his mother to come back from her room. When she got out, she closed the door behind her and smiled at her son "It was Videl's mom."
Gohan looked very surprised, not understanding a thing "Why? Did something happen to Videl? Did I do something wrong? I'm so sorry mother. I don't know how to act in public, I mustn't have payed attention and…"
Chi-Chi quickly stopped him, ruffling his hair "Gohan, sweetie. You did nothing wrong. It's quite the opposite actually, she loved you. She said something about owing you one for the way you treated Videl? What was that about?"
Gohan tilted his head "I have no idea. I saw her once. I followed a disturbed Ki and I went to check if someone what is trouble. I saw her crying and I asked her if everything was okay. I stayed with her a while then her mother came. That's when she invited me to lunch."
Chi-Chi smiled at her son. His gentle side was one of the many things she was proud of. And he didn't even notice that was what Videl's mom was talking about. He just acted the way he knew, with gentleness. She smiled at him, kissing his forehead "You are amazing sweetie. Anyways, she said that Videl and Erasa have a vacation coming by and she wanted to take them to a trip to the mountains. She asked me if you could help direct them a little, prepare some fun activities they could do for three days. They also wanted to learn how people live here, so I guess going to villages, tending to crops, going fishing, all of this we normally do on a daily basis that isn't present in the city."
Gohan nodded his head "It seems easy. I guess we can easily tell them how to pass their days. And there's the clearing if they want to go for a swim." He then saw his mother smiling lightly, and he didn't like that "Why are you smiling mom?"
She chuckled lightly "I love that you're invested. Start thinking because you will be their guide." He quickly looked at her with a look that said "why me" and she smiled at him "Because I invited them to sleep here. One night at the inn will cost them 150 zenis. Why pay this much money? We were going to invite them over to eat all the time, and you won't leave them alone. It's a lot of money to spend on a room to sleep only."
Gohan sighed. He knew his mother was right, but he didn't feel like it was a good idea "But mom. With Goten, and me? I always break stuff because of my powers. How can we explain that? Why if they think we aren't normal?"
She took his head, squeezing it tenderly "Gohan don't worry. Just be yourself, okay? Now, go finish your homework. If they're coming here for three days, you will have to study twice as hard. They may be on vacation but you're not mister. We'll discuss the details at dinner, okay?"
He nodded at her as she kissed his forehead.

He then went to his room and sighed loudly. How did he get into this mess? What if he did something wrong and they thought he was a freak? He didn't want to lose his only friends. What if they find him weird because of the way he lived. What if they made fun of him? Why was he being this negative? For all that Dende knows, everything could go perfectly fine and he was afraid for nothing. They would come on Friday. It was Sunday night. He had four days to prepare for this weekend, and he wanted them to have the time of their lives.

Videl and Erasa were sitting in their art class, discussing ideas on a gift to get Gohan. They didn't know a thing about him, so they needed something more general. But they didn't know what he already had, and they didn't want it to be too cliché. That was harder than what they expected.

Erasa started doodling things on scratch paper, sighing loudly "We didn't really think about this, huh? What can we get a boy we know nothing about? Is your mom getting something?"
Videl nodded understandingly, looking around the shelfs "She is decorating a vase. She said that she didn't want to get something expensive. They can either take it as an offense, or that we are using them to sleep for free when we can afford it, or something like that, I don't know. I didn't know your mom paints on vases."
Erasa chuckled playfully "We may not be very smart, but we are very artistic people. My sister won like three competitions. Now, focus. Gift, gift, gift? I don't know."
Their teacher noticed they were distracted and she went to them.

She was a graduate student who was doing teaching as a part-job. Her name was Umiko and she was of average height with brown curly hair and eyes, wearing jeans and a stripped t-shirt. She smiled at them and sat next to them on the chairs "Need a little inspiration girls? What's the matter? Erasa, you usually have a lot of ideas. And Videl, you're getting better, why stop now?"
Erasa shook her head proudly, while Videl blushed a little. So what, she wasn't good at art? What's the big deal?

Erasa giggled at the friend's embarrassed face and she looked at the teacher "We want to do a small gift for someone. We are going to sleep at our friend's place in the mountains and we wanted to get him a little something. But we don't know what. We never went to his place before."
The teacher nodded at them and started thinking out loud "Boy or girl?" The girls answered with "boy" and the teacher continued "He's around your age right? Does he have siblings or only child?" The girls told them he had a baby brother and the young teacher started rubbing her chin "That's a though one. Give me a minute to think."
The girls nodded understandingly. It was a hard idea. Then the teacher's face lit up and she looked at them "Can you stay a little after school?" Both girls nodded and the teacher winked playfully at them.

After the bell rung, Videl and Erasa quickly went to retrieve their stuff from their lockers before they rushed to the art classroom. They found Umiko smiling at them and she invited them to sit on a table, as she handed them protection glasses.

They were very surprised and waited for an explanation as they put them on "He may have something like this, I don't know. My aunt married someone from the mountains and they usually do this stuff for their kids but, we can always try." She then removed the cover that was on the table "Ta-da!"
The girls saw several painting colors, carving tools, and two sets of oval blocks of wood. Their teacher smiled excitedly "What do you think?" Both girls looked at her, clearly waiting for an explanation "You can do a sign for his door. We can carve his name and paint an animal. We can choose one you think fits best his character. And you can do one for his brother, so when he'll be old enough to have his own room, or share with his brother, he won't be left out."
The girls smiled happily, very pleased with the idea. Their teacher chuckled at them and stabilized the wood blocks "Okay so, write their names on a piece of paper so I can carve them. And you decide which animal you want to paint."

After a few minutes, the girls looked in awe as their teacher carved Gohan and Goten's names on the wood pieces. Her handwriting was very beautiful, and don't let them get started on the amazing craftwork she did. If anyone saw these, they could for sure believe that it was made using a professional machine. They saw she left an empty space on the right side of Gohan's name, and the left of Goten's, so the girls could paint their animals.

Umiko smiled as she removed the glasses "So? What do you think? I kept one on the right and the other on the left in case they are put on the same door. If not, let's hope we got the order correctly." The girls chuckled as they looked at the wood pieces. They were just stunning. The young adult couldn't but smile at them "I'm glad you liked them this much. We'll actually teach you how to do this when you're older. Now, did you choose the animals?"
Both teenagers nodded as Erasa motioned very gracefully at Videl to speak, and the latter couldn't but roll her eyes at her friend's anthics; but nevertheless, decided to play along "That's very kind of you Erasa. If you don't mind, could you call my secretary and tell her I have a very important meeting to attend and that I'll be late. And bring me some juice on your way back." Erasa quickly glared at her, making Videl and Umiko chuckle. She had it coming. Videl playfully stuck her tongue out at her friend and turned her attention back to her teacher "We want to do a deer for Gohan, because he is very gentle. And Goten is still a baby, but we figured he was curious and playful, so we chose a fox. What do you think?"
The young teacher approved with a single nod "I think that's perfect. Let's get going."

For the next hour or so, they all went to work on their designs. Umiko and Erasa drew the outlines for the animals while Videl painted them, contributing as much as she could, letting the other girls put the finishing touches. Their teacher then told Videl she will help her carve two small holes so they could add the cord and the raven girl started jumping excitedly. She put on her safety goggles and followed carefully her teacher's instructions. A few minutes later, the blocks were finished.

Umiko smiled at them, as she started to organize the room "You can come take them tomorrow after class. The paint should've dried. If not, I'll let you know. You take your vacations on Thursday, so we still have time if we need to add finishing touches. Just bring a cord with you, any color you like, and a small bag so we can wrap them up. Okay?"
The girls nodded happily as they wished their teacher good-bye. Umiko chuckled at them. Kids, their life was so much simpler.

The next day, Erasa and Videl waited impatiently for the school day to finish. When you're this excited, school hours surely passed even slower than usual. They then went to retrieve the gifts, adding the cords and Umiko sealed them with a little bit of glue, to make sure the knot wouldn't untie. They put some finishing touches and wrapped everything in a small paper bag. Their gifts were ready.

Eventually, Thursday night couldn't come by faster. Erasa went to sleep to Videl's so they could leave at their ease in the morning. They prepared their bags in the hall and organized the house before they all went to sleep.

The next morning, Hoshiko woke up, startled by her daughter jumping on her bed "Come on mommy. It's time to wake up."
Hoshiko chuckled at her daughter, surprised to see her up before her, specially since she wasn't a morning person. She then pinned her down playfully, tingling her a little "Someone's cheery today. You never woke up before me."
Videl laughed at the tingling before her mother stopped and poked her nose. The young girl sat on the bed legs crossed and smiled happily "I'm happy. It's been a long time since we've taken a vacation. And it's something new. And don't people wake up very early in the mountains? I'm just getting in the mood."
Hoshiko laughed at her daughter and rolled her eyes playfully at her. Her daughter was just amazing, being this invested. It was one of the many things she was proud of "Go wake up Erasa and do your beds. I'll finish breakfast. After we eat, we'll leave. Okay monkey?"
Videl nodded and quickly jumped of the bed, almost tripping over.

Her mother smiled happily. Maybe this trip would be better than what she planned. If everything goes right, Videl and Erasa would have learned a very valuable lesson, and they would get a new friend, possibly for life. Gohan didn't seem to be a bad boy, and who knows, he might open up their eyes to new realities. Afterall, it's not every day you get to befriend a mountain boy who wasn't following the stereotype. He could teach them a lot of things that could maybe be useful to them one day. And of course, to Videl's ignorance, she could get to know if the boy from the Cell Games had ulterior motives to this friendship, who knows?

After an hour, everyone ate and organized their rooms, and they all met up in the hallways, dressed up. Videl and Erasa decided to wear jeans and t-shirts under their hoodies. They didn't need to get all formal, it was a trip after all and they wanted to play. Hoshiko decided to wear a light dress with a jeans jacket. Who said you can't be sporty and chic? And it was the mountains, thankfully not a formal event. They were on vacation. She reminded the girls not to wear white sneakers and she closed the front door.

After they settled in the car, Videl quickly chose one the many CDs she and Erasa had prepared for the road and they started discussing which road games to play. Hoshiko smiled at them from the mirror. This trip was going to be amazing, she could feel it. She made the right call.
