Chapter Five: Across the Pond and First Classes

-Tonks Residence-

"Mum, I think Harry ran away." Tonks told her mother.

"Why do you think that honey?" Andromeda asked her daughter.

"He acted really strangely before he left when some unexpected business came up. And what kind of eleven year old conducts business?" Tonks asks rhetorically, she wasn't expecting an answer.

"Nymphadora, dear, you said Harry is a genius, right?" Ted Tonks asked, causing his daughter to nod her head in confirmation. "One thing I have learned about geniuses is that they are near impossible to understand if you are a regular person. There are specially trained mind healers in St. Mungo's, and not even they understand everything about geniuses. It could be that Harry just started a business and he has work to do starting it up."

"Dad, have you ever heard of an eleven year old starting a business?" Tonks asked incredulously.

"I have, it is fairly common in Slytherin." Andromeda answered. "They usually start a small unofficial business selling things to Hogwarts students, though it is like a black market in that you have to know a guy who sells and is willing to hook you up."

"Did you ever buy anything from those unofficial businesses?" Tonks asked her mother.

"I was a Black." Andromeda said as if it answered the question. Which if you knew anything about the Blacks, it did.

Tonks however did not know anything about the Blacks because her mother never really told her anything about the family. All Tonks really knew was that they were a dark family and that they disowned her mother for marrying her father. Nymphadora was just starting to understand the intricacies of the pureblood world, and was just now settling in about how much smarter Hadrian was compared to her.

"Is this another thing about pureblood politics?" Tonks asked, exasperated.

"Honey, everything is a lesson in politics. Experience is what makes a person's beliefs for politics, purebloods just set the stage." Andromeda told her daughter.

"That sounds like something Dumbledore would say." Nymphadora complained.

"Dumbledore is an extremely intelligent wizard, it would be stupid not to listen to what he teaches." Andromeda commented. "Dumbledore would also add on a piece about how everybody must be accepted and treated fairly."

"Nymphadora have you put any more thought into what you want to do outside of Hogwarts?" Ted Tonks asked, changing the topic. "An auror is a very dangerous job that only the best of the best wizards can do. Plus it isn't all it is cracked up to be."

"I am sure Dad that I want to be an auror. I want to prove to everyone that a halfblood metamorphmagus can be one of the best." Nymphadora said passionately.

"Are you sure you aren't doing all this to make an impression on Harry that you are powerful as well? Because I can tell you without a doubt in my mind that Harry finds you special." Ted told his daughter.

"How can you be sure, you were the one saying earlier that it is exceedingly difficult to know what is going on in a genius' mind?" Nymphadora asked, nervous because her father had hit the nail on the head.

"It is very difficult to understand what goes through a genius' mind. But understanding and knowing are two different things." Ted starts explaining. "I cannot fully understand what is going on in Harry's head, but I know what goes through it. Nymphadora, why do you think he treats you the way he did, Harry treated you differently than every other girl? Harry just didn't know how to properly express his feelings, so he turned to the way he was treated. I guarantee that Harry cares for you just like you care for him."

"And you are sure about this?" Tonks asked, blushing thinking about Hadrian. She wondered how her father was so sure about this.

"I was once Harry's age once, you know." Ted teased his daughter. "Now, I am sure that he is just very excited and busy after receiving his first ever Hogwarts letter. I wouldn't worry about it, he will probably send you a letter soon, or you will see him on the Hogwarts Express."

"Okay, thanks Dad." Tonks said, before skipping out of the kitchen.

"Do you really think Harry is just excited about his first Hogwarts letter?" Andromeda asked her husband, after putting up a privacy ward.

"I am not sure to be honest, I am just a lawyer unlike you. Your cousin ran away and you are a healer, what do you think?" Ted asked his wife, who was more knowledgeable in this subject.

"He definitely ran away. I am not sure if he is even going to Hogwarts, I have seen him perform wandless magic. I worry about him." Andromeda answered, concerned for the boy she saw as a son.

"I know that you care for the kid, but don't forget he is a genius, if he ran away he thought everything out and he will be okay." Ted reassured his wife.

-Scene break: The Burrow-

"Hey Bill, do you think something bad happened to Harry?" Charlie asked.

"What makes you think that Charlie?" Bill asked his younger brother.

"Well he ditched us when we were hanging out with him at Potter Manor on his birthday and we haven't heard from him since. Usually he apologizes in his own roundabout formal way." Charlie responded

"That's true." Bill replied and thought for a moment. "I like to believe that he finally got out of there, Potter Manor was a personal hell for Harry. I don't know what he went through but I doubt it was pleasant."

"You still think the Potters abused Harry?" Charlie asked.

"I do, once you learn to recognize the signs and really reflect on Harry's behavior it becomes obvious." Bill tells Charlie, before he continues listing off what signs Harry showed. "He always avoided physical touch, was always on high alert, wore clothing that didn't match up with the weather, and he was way too demanding. Those are what I noticed there are probably more, but I am not the person who would know that."

"You sure seem to have studied this, where did you learn it? And are sure any of these aren't just a part of Harry's natural personality?" Charlie asked his older brother.

"I used to go to Madam Pomfrey and ask about it, since she would be the patron healer of the hospital wing of Hogwarts she got training in nearly all medical fields. It would have to be incredibly rare and dangerous for a student to be sent to St. Mungo's , or the hospital wing to be full with more students needing a healer." Bill explained to Charlie. "Also, those signs may not have been part of Harry's original personality, but they were ingratiated quickly and will take years to undo."

"And you aren't worried about Harry even if he runs away?" Charlie asked in recap and skeptically.

"Charlie, don't be an idiot like Ron. Of course I am worried about Harry, he's my best friend, however I also believe the best thing for him would be to get away from the Potters." Bill explained. "Now, I have to get to work. I'll see you when I see you."

-Scene break: Malfoy Manor-

Today was Callisto Malfoy's eleventh birthday, and she would be getting her first Hogwarts letter today. Callisto was waiting with her family in the dining room for the letter when suddenly there was an unexpected knock on the doors for the manor.

"Dobby!" Lucius yells for the family elf. "Tell that visitor to kindly leave, we are having a family day today."

"Yes Master Lucius, Dobby be doing that." Dobby said before popping away to disway the visitor from visiting. About thirty seconds later Dobby pops back into the dining room. "Master Lucius, the person says they be from a magical school destined for greatness."

"Destined for greatness, what garbage! All Malfoys are destined to be great, and no other Malfoy has been invited to this school. This is a sham and Malfoys do not fall for shams!" Lucius rants to no one in particular.

"I assure you Lucius Malfoy, my school has its ways to find out just who is destined for greatness and those that fall into mediocrity." A silky smooth seductive voice answered and the voice was distinctly female. And then the woman walked with grace few could ever hope to match, she had long black hair, sky blue eyes, wore black dress robes with a blue outline that brought attention to her eyes. "Morgana LeFay, pleasure to meet you."

"Morgana died millenia ago, who are you really?" Lucius asked, clearly not believing her.

"I assure you I am who I say I am. How else would you explain me getting past all your fancy wards without you noticing." Morgana asked, almost daring him to disagree.

"Father, I think she is telling the truth. I don't know how I know but she seems to give out this ancient, knowledgeable, and powerful aura." Callisto interjects before her father could say anything else.

"Alright fine, let's say you are who you say you are. What do you want?" Lucius asked hesitantly, believing for the moment what his daughter said.

"I am here because I want your daughter to attend my school. It is called the LeFay, we normally send a student from the sister school to pick up our students. However, I couldn't let a student with the potential of your daughter slip through my fingers, so I decided I would come in person." Morgana explained to the pureblooded family.

"I've never heard of the LeFay Institute, this still all seems like one big sham to get your hands on the Malfoy family fortune. Well too bad-" Lucius started saying before getting cut off.

"I have no desire for your family's wealth, you forget that I was once royalty and have my own enormous wealth. And as to why you haven't heard of my school is because my staff and I go to great measures to make sure the general populace don't find out about it." Morgana explained to the head of the Malfoy family.

"What's so special about me?" Callisto asked, speaking up for the second time, Lucius was doing most of the talking for the Malfoy family. "I haven't done anything of note yet."

"That is true, you haven't done anything of note yet. And nobody expected you to, after all you are only eleven years old you would be hard pressed to do something legendary." Morgana replied to Callisto. "But Merlin seems to be planning to take on one of his new students as an apprentice, something he hasn't done in ages. I would know, I was the latest apprentice Merlin has taken. I simply cannot allow this to go unanswered, you have been found as a potential candidate to become my apprentice. After this discussion I can say with confidence that you are a perfect candidate. I believe you already know Merlin's new apprentice quite well, and unlike that fool I will not wait to begin training my apprentice."

'Harry! So that's what happened to him!' Callisto thought, not aware Morgana was subtly performing legilmancy on her. 'If this is what it takes to see my friend again then I must do it.'

"Wait a minute, what is the catch? This sounds too good to be true." Callisto asked, she wouldn't do anything if the price was too steep. She wouldn't knowingly make a deal with the devil.

"Well I wouldn't exactly call it a catch, but some people do. You must attend the school for seven full years, without any breaks. And you cannot contact anyone outside the two schools, and vice versa." Morgana explained. "However there are certain ways around the no contacting the outside world rule, for example if a parent becomes a professor because they are able to talk to others." Morgana was eyeing Narcissa as she said the second bit.

"I can't even see or talk to my friends or family?" Callisto asked, not seeing Morgana looking towards Narcissa as she mentioned professorship.

"Well we don't want the common rabble finding out about us, they'll just get jealous and you will end up losing them as friends anyways. Besides, you won't have to worry about them because you will make new friends that are equal to you."

"Is the school only for purebloods, or do you allow mudbloods to attend your school?" Lucius asked, finally believing this was indeed Morgana LeFay.

"The school only allows the elite in, and of those people mudbloods rarely decide to join. Once every couple of generations, and even then it is only the richest of mudbloods." Morgana informs Lucius, sharing his views on blood purity.

"I'm in." Callisto suddenly said. "I would like to attend your school, what do I need to do?"

"Excellent." Morgana seemingly purred. "First I will be taking you into town to get you your supplies, like your wand and textbooks, the first shopping trip is provided by the school. Usually you would have to pay for everything yourself, but since you will be my apprentice I will be purchasing your materials for you and teaching what I know."

"Will I be needing anything from here? I will be gone for nearly a decade after all." Callisto asked Morgana.

"Just what you would view as essential, and things to help you decorate where you will be living for the next several years." Morgana answered her new student.

Callisto had Dobby pack up for her, she would be packing her favorite robes and stuff she can use to decorate where she will be living. Of course she had no idea that she would be living in an apartment.

"Got everything? Good, follow me." Morgana bid without hearing Callisto's response to her question. Morgana left Malfoy Manor with Callisto following behind after saying goodbye to her family, as they were all proper purebloods they all kept their composure. "Grab my hand I will be side-along apparating you to the town the students do their shopping from." After that Callisto grabbed Morgana's hand while the headmistress apparated the two of them to the town. "This town is named Saint Stephen, it was originally supposed to be only for wizards but as time passed muggles began to move in to live in this town as well. And as such they also came to know about magic. Nowadays not many people move into Saint Stephens so the secret of magic existing is kept under wraps well."

"You just trust muggles to keep the secret of magic safe?" Callisto asked bewildered.

"They're Canadian." Morgana answered, Callisto didn't believe that it answered the question she asked. "First we will be getting you fitted for the Institute's uniform."

"I have to wear a uniform?" Callisto complained. "Are they at least robes like Hogwarts?"

"Yes you do, this is a very prestigious school. And no they will not be robes like Hogwarts." Morgana answered her complaining student. "You will be wearing a plain white button-up under a black blazer. The blazers will have different trims based on the class. You will also be wearing a skirt that follows the trim pattern as the blazer and will also be black like the blazer."

After getting outfitted for her new school uniform the pair head into the wand shop named Wild Wands.

"Hello, how may I help you out today Lady Morgana? The female clerk asked, she had a name tag on that said her name was Isabelle.

"Hello Isabelle, this is a new student named Callisto Malfoy. Callisto meet Isabelle Inkwood, she will be crafting your wand." Morgana said, mostly to Callisto.

"Pleasure to meet you Miss Malfoy, ready to start your wand crafting experience?" Isabelle asked Callisto, seeing the younger girl nod, Isabelle continued. "I do have to tell you that no wand I craft for you will be a perfect match, for a perfect match you have to craft your own wand. However, do not worry this wand will be perfect for you while you are learning how to perform all kinds of magic."

"You'll get the chance to create your own wand in a few years, so this will be a temporary wand or more accurately a spare wand." Morgana told Callisto.

"If you know how to extend your magic to feel certain things, then I recommend doing that as it is far quicker than the alternative. Otherwise if you don't know how to do it just yet then you will have to walk down the aisle slowly with your hand outstretched towards the woods and see what woods react to your presence." Isabelle said to Callisto. Callisto to first try and reach her magic out, but found she did not yet possess the ability, so she had to walk slowly down the aisle containing the woods. She ended up selecting red oak and elm. "Okay, good job. Now do the same thing with these wand cores." Callisto then repeated the process of walking down the aisle and she ended up selecting Acromantula Web and Rougarou Hair. "Excellent, your wand will be exceptionally gifted with duelling using the Dark Arts and it will be significantly easier for you to use your trademark spells. It will be a fantastic wand to craft, it will take up to three hours to complete. You can wait in here if you would like, or continue any shopping you may have left."

"Thank you for the offer, but we have some shopping yet to get done." Morgana told Isabelle poliety, receiving a nod in response. "Come along Callisto, we have more shopping to get done." Morgana said this to Callisto while she was walking out of Wild Wands. "We have to buy your textbooks, and while we are there any books that look useful to you. After the bookstore we will be going to a shop where you will hopefully be able to get a familiar."

Morgana and Callisto entered the book store oddly named Living Library first where Morgana used a spell to gather all of the textbooks Callisto would need. After gathering the necessary textbooks Morgana let Callisto wander around the store. Callisto ended up choosing; Guide to Emotional Sorcery, Newbie Guide to Strange Innovations, and Infamous Counter-curses. Callisto selected the books she would get by using the same method she did at the wand shop when selecting her materials, so her magic selected the books that would be most useful to her.

"Hmm good choices, the first and last books are the most useful and the second one is very informative." Morgana stated to Callisto, judging the choices. "Why did you choose these three?"

"Did you read all of these books already?" Callisto asked before explaining how she selected the books. "I used the scanning method I learned in the wand shop to select the materials for the wand, only this time I used it on the books."

"Well first of all you only chose three books that likely wouldn't be very difficult to read quickly. I was actually judging them by their cover, a very useful skill once you master it because wizards rarely hide what they are like." Morgana informed her student. "I don't have time to read every book that was written, after all I have a school to run. And that was an excellent idea to use the magic scanning to select the books, when we get to the Institute I will explain the magic behind it more thoroughly. In fact, that idea was a perfect sign because now I know that you will be able to pick up the mind arts quickly, they are an important part of your apprenticeship."

"Is there anything special apprenticing under you?" Callisto asks Morgana as the two entered the shop where Callisto supposed familiars can be bought.

"Asking the deeper questions, good I was wondering when you would ask. Well are quite a few advantages, one such advantage is that you get to have a pet. Sometimes when a wix gets a pet at a young age it has the chance to become a familiar." Morgana explained to her young apprentice as the two perused the store.

"What is the process of a pet becoming a familiar?" Callisto asked.

"Well there are actually several steps to the process." Morgana began explaining. "First is when you get the pet it will behave like it was originally supposed to, like any other of its species. Second is that it will start to notice its owner and seemingly looks towards them for admiration. Third is that it will get noticeably subdued and seemingly lazy while it is actually intensely studying its owner, it will remain subdued for the next couple steps. Fourth it increases in size, the more powerful the larger it grows. Fifth the owner will notice a tug on their magic as the creature bonds to the owner, Sixth is where most wix stop because the creature responds to the owner's commands, this also the last step where the creature is subdued. Seventh requires incredibly complicated magic because the familiar is able to share its magic with its owner." Morgana finished explaining. "Is anything in here reacting to your magic?"

"No, nothing stands out." Callisto responded.

"Well take another lap around the store, and go into the section for the more expensive and rarer creatures." Morgana instructed.

"Still nothing." Callisto responded ten minutes later when she returned to the spot where Morgana was waiting.

"Well that is unfortunate, perhaps we will try again in a few years, or you may find your familiar in the wild." Morgana said. "Well since you aren't getting a familiar I will spend the money on a new broom for you instead."

"Why would I need a broom?" Callisto asked nervously.

"To play quidditch of course." Morgana said as if it were obvious. Seeing Callisto still nervous and slightly confused she decided to elaborate. "Quidditch helps your reflexes immensely. Faster reflexes are better for duelling. And I want to continue beating Merlin's team of nerds." Morgana finished a moment later.

"Pardon me?" Callisto asked, she did not expect Merlin and Morgana's animosity to extend to quidditch.

"Of course our fighting has also extends to quidditch, luckily I have been winning the vast majority of our matches. Merlin likes to recruit a lot more nerds and as such his players are more nerdy than athletic, however every so often Merlin gets a player that can even out the playing field. I am narrowly winning the total number of games played so far, but if Merlin's Academy gets a star player it could turn the tides." Morgana explained.

"Lady Morgana, I am not very good at riding a broom." Callisto told Morgana. "I am honestly terrible at it."

"Well that just means you will have to practice, luckily for you there is no need for a new player on the team." Morgana said there was no option for Callisto not to play quidditch. The two were looking at the selection, Callisto was really just walking with Morgana, Callisto had never heard of some of the companies before. "Ah, here we go, this one should work excellently for you. This is a Lockridge Breeze, it is perfect for someone starting out and not looking to go fast, it focuses on handling more than speed. When you fly well enough to play on the team I will get you a better broom."

After Morgana told Callisto that, she went to pay for Callisto's new broom. Callisto was dreading flying because she knew she was absolutely dreadful at it. However, a moment later Morgana called Callisto over and told her it was time to pick up her new wand, Callisto was shocked that so much time seemed to just fly by. The two walked briskly to Wild Wands to pick up Callisto's wand for her school years.

"Welcome back Lady Morgana and Miss Malfoy." Isabelle greeted the two who just entered her shop. "You two are just in time to pick up the wand, of course I wouldn't expect anything else from Lady Morgana."

Callisto took one look at her wand and instantly fell in love with it, the woods twirled around each other in a spiral. She could not see the cores of the wand but she had no doubt that the two cores were just as magnificent as the woods. Morgana then handed Callisto a wand holster and Callisto was glad she wouldn't have to store her wand in her pocket like a common person. After Morgana paid for the wand and the two left the wand shop Callisto felt Morgana's hand on her shoulder and then the sensation of apparating. When Callisto felt the apparating stopped Callisto looked around to see where she was, only to find herself amazed once again. The buildings she was surrounded by were all designed to blend in and accentuate the nature they were surrounded by.

"Welcome to the LeFay Institute." Morgana said with a smile. She always enjoyed seeing the awe on students' faces when they saw the Institute for the first time. "I made sure when designing and constructing the buildings that they would match with nature. So often people overlook nature as a way to add beauty to a campus, I update the campus whenever there is a new, better, way to support both the needs of nature and our own needs. Luckily, a fair amount of the top magical architects are accepted here, and many decide to attend because of our obviously excellent architecture program."

"Wow." Callisto was still in awe trying to process everything, she could almost feel the magic thrumming through the campus. "Will I be learning how to do this?" Callisto asked.

"I wasn't planning to teach it to you personally, but if you are interested in it I believe I may be able to help you." Morgana said thoughtfully.

"If I am not going to learn cool magic like this, what will I be learning?" Callisto asked and slightly demanded.

"This is a discussion best to have in my office, follow me." Morgana instructed Callisto. Morgana led Callisto in the building right behind where they were standing. The building was designed to look like a log cabin with large tinted windows. "This is where the department heads, deputy headmistress, and I have our offices." Morgana explained as she lead Callisto to her office, after a few moments the two arrived. "I can tell you really want to know what you will be learning under me so I will tell you. The buildings were created by using one of the most esoteric parts of transfiguration and requires a massive amount of magic, and while I could teach you on how to perform magic like that I had planned on teaching you what I know of combat magic. I will be teaching you how to fight extremely powerful opponents-" Morgana explained but was cut off before she could finish.

"You mean defeat Merlin's apprentice, don't you?" Callisto asked, already knowing who Morgana was talking about.

"I do, yes." Morgana answered truthfully, and seeing Callisto start to protest her point she cut her off. "I know that Merlin's apprentice was a friend of yours, but don't you ever think he believes he is superior to you? Wouldn't you like to show him that you are skilled as well?" Morgana asked.

Callisto wanted to say that Hadrian wasn't constantly acting superior because he knew he was talented with magic. She wished she could say that she wasn't secretly hoping for years for some way to show him that she was better than him. But she couldn't, everything Morgana asked her was true. And that was when Morgana truly got her claws into Callisto.

"Very well, I am eager to learn what you are willing to teach me." Callisto said determinedly. Morgana smirked at Callisto's response.

-Scene break-

Hadrian was excited for today because it would be the first day of classes. During the first two years the class schedule will be in the total class format. What that means is that all of the classes would be held in one day for about an hour each. All of the classes were taught in the Egmont building, the Egmont was specially designed for the lower level classes.

As Hadrian headed to the kitchen to cook himself some breakfast he found a book with a note. He decided to read it as he was curious.

Hadrian,

Stop your transfiguration studies for now, that is a very difficult branch of magic to master and you may get lost in the esoteric magics. Study the subject of this book and others like it.

Merlin.

Merlin wanted him to stop his transfiguration studies, Hadrian felt like he was making good progress. When Hadrian read the title it all clicked, the book was named The Theory of Transportation Magic. Hadrian decided to try and make something simple for breakfast like scrambled eggs to eat while he starts to read his book. Hadrian decides while he is in the kitchen that he should get his hands on a cookbook. A couple minutes later Hadrian had successfully managed to cook scrambled eggs and was pretty proud of himself. He knew he had quite a bit of time before he had to begin his classes, and so he cast a charm he recently learned to make himself an alarm.

There are three well-known forms of magical travel; floo, portkey, and apparation. These are the three that will be discussed in this, however this is purely a book for learning theory. If you want to know how to create these magical transportations then you will have to learn somewhere else, perhaps my book on creating magical transport.

Starting off with the floo system, the floo is a form of magical transportation that is connected to a wix's fireplace. The floo is most efficient if used within the borders of one country, or if the countries are right next to them. The basic theory behind floo travel is that one takes a pinch of floo powder, tosses it into a fireplace and then steps in and clearly says their destination and then a moment later exits the fireplace. Interestingly the more powerful a wix is the more they get propelled out, it takes a lot of practice to exit with grace.

However, the more in-depth theory is more complicated. Floo powder is what actually allows a wix to move from fireplace to fireplace, but that is not the only necessary piece of magic. The fireplaces require intricate magics, for any experienced and knowledgeable wix that deals with very delicate magic could do it fairly simply, the magic of the fireplace must be connected to the floo system and the owner's house, and the house must be anchored to the Earth. The floo system actually utilizes a fraction of magic from the leylines.

Suddenly Hadrian was startled out of his reading when he heard his alarm go off, he grabbed his backpack and loaded what he believed he would need. He also decided to get another look at his class schedule:

Geography: 8:00-8:55am

Survival: 9:00-9:55am

Math: 10:00-10:55am

Runes: 11:00-11:55am

Lunch: 12:00-12:55pm

Potions: 1:00-1:55pm

History: 2:00-3:00pm

-Time Skip-

Hadrian was glad classes were over for the day, although they were relatively simple they went quickly in the class. In geography they mainly discussed the different climates in the world, in survival which is extremely similar and taught by the same professor they began learning how to survive in a forest, math was very similar to arithmancy, runes was interesting because they were used in all sorts of things, in potions the class learned how to make a healing potion as it is the most commonly used, in history they discussed what they would learning throughout the years and were dismissed early.

He decided to delve back into reading the book he was given on the three most commonly used forms of magical transportation. He knew the headmaster sometimes visited him to quiz him and occasionally duel him, so he figured he would be getting quizzed about what this book was about in the coming days. The real question for Hadrian was whether he would just be getting quizzed on just the theory or if he would be able cast the magic to use the transportation magics.

"I have to say, I am unsure about what my reaction should be for you going to class." Merlin's voice rang through the apartment.

"Why is that?" Hadrian asked in response.

"Did you ever notice that you were the only one of the six that went to the classes?" Merlin asked his young student. Hadrian's only response was a shake of his head. "That is because the only students that show up to the lectures are those who really need help with what is being taught. This school was creating for people that have the greatest potential in their future, and as such the top students are expected to be able to teach themselves." Merlin finished.

"Why? That is ridiculous." Hadrian commented.

"Is it? We are just trying to gauge how talented a student truly is, some students purposefully do not live up to their full potential. Some decide to become aurors, journalists, unspeakables, archivists, and hit wizards." Merlin listed off.

"Some of those are crucial to the safety of the wizarding world, aurors and hit wizards are responsible for catching dark wizards. Unspeakables study the nature of obscure magic and what could be done with them, journalists tell people what is going in the world, and archivists organize and correctly store wizarding history." Hadrian argued back.

"Aurors and hit wizards are not people who attend this academy, they are people that are marginally more talented than the average population of their country." Merlin began explaining. "Wix that attend this academy are supposed to join the guilds, they join a guild and then become world renowned experts in their field."

"I see where you are coming from, but I am still not sure if I agree with what you said." Hadrian reasoned to the headmaster. "What about students that go on to be professional duellers and quidditch players?"

"It is not well known but the overarching organizations of those sports are actually technically guilds as well. They don't officially file with the ICW to become known as a guild, but the definition of a guild is an organization only accepting the best there are to offer and make them known as experts in their field." The headmaster explained to Hadrian.

"Is there a guild that only accepts the best wix that excels in all areas of magic?" Hadrian asked.

"Well, not really." Merlin stated after a moment's thought. "The International Confederation of Wizards was once a council of the most powerful wix in the world, but was replaced with the modern ICW because the wix would always be getting in fights and killing loads of people."

"Oh, so a pretty dark past then?" Hadrian asked jokingly.

"One would think, but there is a book in the library that details what the Council of Mages, that was the name, ruled and the members. Right next to that book is a constantly updating book of possible members." Merlin not-so-subtly hinted to Hadrian. "If you truly feel that it is important to attend all your classes then you can do so, the only classes that are mandatory for you to attend are your geography and survival classes."

"I suppose that I forgot to mention that my classes grade attendance as well as the homework and tests." Hadrian commented with a smirk.

"I suppose you did." Merlin commented back with a smirk. "Just remember I will be testing you on your knowledge of the theory behind the floo system and if you can create a linked fireplace a week from now. The library is open 24/7."

'Man that guy is so strange sometimes.' Hadrian thought. He decided to do his homework before he got started anything else so he grabbed his arithmancy textbook and a notebook and began taking notes about how even simple charms like Lumos needed an arithmetic formula and messing even one number up could butcher the charm and could possibly be fatal.

A.N: So there it is another chapter! I said in the last chapter that I would delve into what the classes would be teaching, but as I was writing I noticed a glaring problem; I did not know everything about what would be taught. I may need to visit my university's library to catch up, arithmancy will be skipped entirely because I am god awful at math.

As you have probably noticed I started setting up apprenticeships, but since that is plain I will make each apprenticeship unique. I feel showing the differences in how a character learns shows everyone a bit more who they are and why they may behave the way they do. A lot of the story will probably take place at night since Hadrian removed the need for sleep.

I decided to shorten the options for pairings based on who got none:

Nymphadora Tonks: 12

Harem: 16

Fleur Delacour: 9

Callisto Malfoy: 1

Hestia Jones: 3

OC Celebrity: 3

So far harem is in the lead for pairing which I wasn't expecting but does open doors for unique opportunities. If anyone feels like it they can create their own character and I will probably put it in the story.

I will also be publishing a couple new stories in the next week, so if you are interested in that then keep a lookout. Not every story is Harry Potter, but one is.

Next chapter will be based on expanding the lore for the story but will have some battles that will actually have the magic said.
