A/N
Hi everyone.
Sorry this isn't the next chapter. My dad who as you might have read in the chapter notes from the last update, had his surgery to remove a cancerous tumour (that he was diagnosed with last fall) from his left lung in the beginning of April.
So I needed to step away for a few weeks, and be with my family. He went home after a couple weeks in the hospital and everything seemed to be healing fine. Then near the end of may things just seemed to go downhill and he ended up in emergency with a collapsed lung, From what we thought was pneumonia. Which after a major surgery and your immune system being compromised is relatively common. So we were half expecting it.
However it turns out he was in the 12% range of people to get what is called Acute kidney failure after enduring chemo and radiation.
He has been back in the hospital struggling for over a month. They found evidence of a severe infection in his kidneys which is as causing them to fail and fluid to build up. His oxygen to lower and CO2 to rise which had him unresponsive for days.
He has now sterted to improve once the antibiotics have finally started working against the infection and has had a couple rounds of Dialysis, but he's still in rough shape and we have no idea when he no will be on the mend. This is just the beginning of a long journey.
So as I'm sure you can all understand my focus has been elsewhere and I haven't had the drive to pick up and continue writing.
The hardest part of all this is, 7 years ago I moved across the country away from my family except one of my sisters who lives here with me (if a three hour drive away) and a cousin who Is more like a sister. Because of COVID and the fact that I don't wish to make my 3 year old travel that far and I have no one who can watch him long term as my husband works out of town a-lot. I can't just hop on a plane and go home to physically be there for my parents and other siblings. I have to take comfort with text messages, phone and video calls for updates and to give and receive support.
Which has taken a serious downward spiral on my mental state.
With all that said. I want you all to know I have read your comments, And I wish to tell you all how much I APPRECIATE your support, your kind words and well wishes for myself and my family and love seeing how much you are enjoying this story. Those of you who have gone back re-read what has already been posted again and again, and then comment as such fill me with awe that you enjoy what I have written so much!
I PROMISE that I WILL finish this Story. I will never abandon it. In fact I will have the next update up before the end of august. No matter what I intend to make sure to finish it and post by the end of summer!!!
There are less than 10 chapters left before this part of Harrison's journey is finished. So while I won't be able to update as frequently as I was before my dads surgery in the beginning of April. I will strive to have at least 1 chapter out each month until it is finally finished.
As soon as he's finally home again, healed up and back to his old self. I will post the next instalment with as much excitement and enthusiasm as this one started out with.
Thank you all once again for your Patience, kind words, and support!
