A/N: Sorry for just off-ing off like that, but genuinely I ran out of steam to just continue writing. though I do plan on doing one of my crossover ideas soon. So I'm probably gonna write about two things and hopefully make my text look nicer to look at. because let's be honest, It looks ugly. My writing is ugly, the way I write is ugly and my way of stylingthe text is also ugly...
But I do try to make it easier to read. Mainly because writing so much without adding a space in-between lines gravely annoys me. I haven't really done anything to improve previous chapters, mainly because dealing with school (doing internship and such) and partly because I'm a lazy idiot.
Also, it doesn't help that I have to do internship right now as well.
Also Also, I should've asked what speaking mannerism Marisa has, but y'know... I didn't, because I'm a dumbass...
Could someone tell me how Marisa speaks, for fu-?!
(Update, 1st July 2021: Ah, thanks Derago! My brain was off the entire time and for some reason recalling her speech mannerism was an impossible mission for me.)
Improvised Aid and Idiocy!
Ah, Hello. You wish for me to continue my story, would you?
Well, I shall! I am still sad that I lost my leg, but... Atleast it gives me a reason to sing sea shanties???
No, that's a horrid reason. It'd be an idiotic reason, but an optimistic one as well. Using a pegleg, by the way... Well, as close to a peg leg I can get.
Right, onto the story!
After I passed out on the dirt floor of the corridor, I managed to gain enough willpower to stay awake.
I needed to treat my injuries and fast. My leg is snapped, in horrid condition, with a few bones sticking out.
It was concerning at that point, because I needed to treat my wound, IMMEDIATELY!
The leg was just a mess. No way I would have salvaged the situation (and leg) With the current situation at hand. So, I went with one of the worst ideas in my mind...
Cutting off the leg.
It was a logical step, at the time. My backpack was near, I needed to treat it quickly and what's not quicker than cuttung the damn leg off?
Well, I had nothing to use to cut it, besides an axe...
I took the axe artached to my backpack and braced myself for the inevitable pain. I needed alcohol for this. thankfully, I had two types to use. One for just drinking and one for medicinal purposes.
I drank a bit of alcohol to numb the coming pain, and I got to work. I lifted the axe up from where I wanted to cut my leg off, which was a bit under the knee, and I quickly lowered it.
*CHOP* It pierced the skin, making me bleed while also scream.
*CHOP* I hit a piece of my leg bone, but that didn't bother me. I needed to treat my leg with any means available. And the only reliable thing I could think of, was cutting the leg off.
*CHOP* It's funny how much I rely on myself not getting sick. If I gotten sick, how would I bring food to the table? I'd be completely bed ridden.
*CHOP* I always took basic comodities for granted. Never really thought of "What would happen, if suddenly I didn't have access to plumbing, electicity, internet and such.
*CHOP* That was a chop that got through the bone. Now it was just flesh holding my leg in place.
*CHOP* Almost there...
*CHOP*...
Leg is detached now.
I quickly rummaged through my back to disinfect my leg, (Medicinal alcohol came in handy) and used it on my stump of a leg.
it.Was. PAINFUL!
But I did it for basic survival. I wrapped up my leg with bandages and did my best to keep it stable.
I needed to fit my leg with a peg leg or something, in order for me to walk semi-normally. Not exactly gonna hop on one leg constantly, now am I?
I still needed to continue building my fort. I needed to build the forge as well, so I could begin crafting more complex items.
I dragged myself towards the ladder, but my thought process was interrupted when I heard voices...
"shit" I thought, "I think it's those scary ass girls again.", because I'm pretty certain I heard those same two voices before.
I quickly crawled back towards the darkness of my hub room. I brandished my axe, ready to strike back if... No... WHEN an intruder comes by.
I then hear the hatch opening, signaling that they found the fort entrance. It sounds as if they are... Worried? or what? Maybe the sight of the blood before put them off and came to investigate?
Evidently, I thought that using the axe as a weapon would be a bad idea...
Damn, I'm hungry. My stomach growled at the idea of food, and for a brief moment, I thought that maybe canibalism would satisfy my hunger.
No... I ain't gonna stoop that low. One of the few things I dispise people doing, but it's understandable when you are in starvation. The world is cruel, nature is a calculative machine, which can ruin your life when it deems so.
My hand that was holding the axe, began shaking. It's not out of fear, or desire... It's out of desperation.
I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone after my arrival in this world. The only one I had a conversation with, was the maid in that red mansion. And even then, I could feel killing intent... Everything was messing with me.
The more and more I thought to myself, the more I realize how troubled I am.
Before my arrival, I was a nobody, enjoying life as it was, making fun of superstitious people.
My mother died in a car crash, while father never even showed his ugly mug to me even ONCE in my life. I was left alone do survive, and I secretly always wanted to escape reality, to escape my regrets.
But not like this... Not like trying to survive as a wild animal, a pray, an insect.
My mind did go vividly during those times, having an emotional meltdown. It's times like these, I wish I had a shoulder to cry on...
Fuck it, I would even cry on a shoulder of a complete stranger, because I don't like what my reality has become. All those thoughts, and I kept thinking "What if I can't support myself? What if, I lost limb or became sick or if ANYTHING ill happened to me? How would I continue surviving? I had nobody to support on."
All those thoughts, kept rapidly repeating in my head. My mind went on overdrive with those thoughts. It wasn't healthy for my sanity.
The final thought that came was... Home...
I dropped my axe finally, after depating with myself. "Even if I survived, I had no one to return to." I thought, as tears began to threaten to leak out of my eyes, "I have no family members, no friends, no nothing... All that would be found out, was that I didn't pay my taxes... But I still enjoyed my home. It was a quiet place, with a nice view and all. I never thought that I'd end up so far away, that I became home-sick."
I was lonely and broken...
My thought process came to an end, when I realized that there were those two still there. "Maybe they could help me?" I thought, "But they DID see blood coming down here... They may be on high alert. I wouldn't blame them... Hell, I forgot to get rid of the leg, It's still on the floor. They probably think there is a monster down here..."
I finally placed my axe down and I used the walls to support myself and keep myself upright. "Time to face the wind or something... or face the music?... Never knew which one do use..." I thought, as I slowly prepared myself for the worse.
I hopped forward, toward the door. I hear one of them say something. I assume it is something like "Show yourself" or "someone's still there" or SOMETHING.
I opened the door, only to be greeted by two silhoutes of two females. I recognized the one with a pointy hat, which made me think "Oh god, the powerful people are here".
And the other person... I have no idea what they are evidently supposed to be. But I was done hiding. I had no hope of survival... With a weak push, I fully opened the door and got ready to face the possible pummeling or death...
What surprised me was that the witch too a deep breath in surprise, I'm guessing and I was surprised when she said something in broken English. "It's you, ze! You're the person that I saw in the library!" She yelled in what seems to be excitement and worry?
The other person with her, turned their head and asked something with an eyebrow raised. Curiousity seems to be present in her voice.
The witch answered her while pointing at me. I don't even know what they are talking about.
Finally, the witch asked me "Why are you living underground, ze? And what's with the stuff lying around near the entrance? And WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR LEG?!" She asked me, in somewhat broken English.
I thought that I might as well answer, "I'm living underground, because it made sense at the time. I built this place you see around us with my own two hands, I needed a place to live. I've been here for a month or maybe more. And finally, I had an accident while bringing iron ore with me. You two saw the broken carts near here, right?" I told them, thinking that I would be killed.
"Is that your leg lying on the floor?" The other girl asked, also a bit in broken English, but better than the witch.
"Yes. It is my leg." I sighed, feeling fatigued. "I had to cut it off, because I had no way to treat it, other than losing my leg."
"You look a bit tired, are you okay?" The witch asked me with worried expression, causing the other girl to become worried as well.
I sigh, rubbing my eyes and say "Evidently not, I'm afraid." I then pat my stomach and say "I've not have anything to eat for a long while now. I'm starving. And honestly, I was ready to use my axe to try to kill both of you in an act of desperation. But I judged myself to be better than that. I was trying not to go so low and become a cannibal."
"Why were you bringing a bunch of ore anyway, ze? Where did you get the ore?" The witch asked me, still worried.
"Well, you saw the two carts, yeah?" They both nodded when I asked that, "Well, I built those two carts that are now broken. I got iron from the large mountain-."
"WHAT?!" They both yelled out, I assume it was in concern. "That was a stupidly, MONUMENTALLY IDIOTIC thing to do! Do you have any idea what could have happened to you?!" The other girl yelled.
"Well, I wouldn't have gone there, if I knew something was truly dangerous." I retorted, "I went almost to the top of the mountain to gain Iron ore."
"WHAT?!" she shrieked, evidently not happy about my actions, "ARE YOU TRYING TO GET YOURSELF KI-?!" But she was interrupted by the witch, who said "Reimu, calm down, ze! He's an Outsider! There's no need to be so harsh! He's wounded as well, ze!" (U/A/N: [The U stands for updated.] I just realized that this part makes no sense. She'd speak in her native language and not in English.)
The other girl, Reimu, sighed in irratation. "Fine. You got a point, Marisa." she said (U/A/N: Same deal as before, they should be talking in their native language.), before looking at me with a frown and saying "That doesn't explain your leg though."
I sighed again (I sigh a lot, don't I?) and said "Well, the two carts had brakes on them, and guess what happened to it when I tried to turn the brakes off."
The witch, Marisa, raised an eyebrow and asked "The brakes didn't work anymore?"
"No, the lever for the brakes snapped off." I said in irritation.
"Hey, no need to be angry with me, ze! I didn't do anything!" She... not so much as yelled, but more of exasperated- Exasopirated, Exasporated, Examblar-, Oh whatever. Y'know what emotion I'm talking about!
"I'm not angry, I'm irritated at my stupid choices in life" I said, sighing yet again. "Sorry that I seemed rude, but I forgot to introduce myself. I'm David Brew, and no, I don't own a brewery, but I do know how to brew alcohol. Family taught me how, also trade secret. And if you start making jokes about it, I will tell you my full name and title in order to confuse you two." I say, rather annoyed about how many jokes is made about my name.
"Oh? What's your full name then?" She asks, as her eyebrow raised in curiosity.
I take a deep breath and say "David Johnathan "Prepper" Carlson Brew, the fifth."
They both deadpan at my "name" and say "I don't believe that's your name."
I snap my finger and mutter out a "Damn it." then quickly focus back to the conversation "Anyway, as I stated before, I built this underground place all by myself. Now if you'll excuse me," I begin to move towards the ladder "I need to start carving a pegleg for my stump of a leg, from the lumber I still have left to use."
"Hey, come with us, ze! we could bring you to a doctor-!" Marisa begins to say, but I interupt her by saying "I already don't trust anything I see or hear since arrival, last thing I need is to distrust a doctor."
"That doesn't make any sense, ze!"
"It does in my mind!"
"You need to be treated!"
"Yes, and I already did so, didn't I?"
"But we know someone who can help you, ze!"
"Will ya leave me alone already?! I need to carve myself a pegleg, for god sake!" I yell in anger, quite annoyed by the fact that they are persistent of taking me to a clinic or a hospital or something.
"Fine! We'll leave you alone, you big idiot, ze!" Marisa yells back, clearly frustrated by my stubborness.
"I already know I'm a head taller than you two!" I yell back, as I climbed up the ladder and went toward the workbench. I dragged a piece of wood and began using the axe to cut up the piece of wood.
The two girls also came out of my fort, I heard one of them say "Let's just go, he isn't gonna listen to us."
I continue working on the wood, just to calm myself down. After a while, I began to sing to myself while working the piece of wood. I managed to carve it into a square-ish shape, so now I needed to carve the shape properly.
I brought out my knofe and continue carving.
"When on the road to sweet Athy,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"When on the road to sweet Athy,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I carved one of the corners of the rectangle to smoothen it out.
"When on the road to sweet Athy"
"A stick in the hand, A drop in the eye"
"A doleful damsel I heard cry"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I carved the second corner smooth.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
The third corner got carved to be smooth.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns"
"The enemy never slew ya"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
Finally, the fourth corner was carved off to be smooth, I began shaping it to be rounder on one side.
"Where are the eyes that looked so mild,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"Where are the eyes that looked so mild,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I carve another side to be more cylindrical.
"Where are the eyes that looked so mild"
"When my poor heart you first beguiled"
"Why did ya run from me and the child"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I carve yet another side of the pegleg.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
And another...
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns"
"The enemy never slew ya"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
And another side, just one more to go.
"Where are the legs with which you run,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"Where are the legs with which you run,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I finally carve the last side, the pegleg is half finished, it now needs something that would help fit it onto my leg stump.
I pick up another piece of wood and begin carving a bowl.
"Where are the legs with which you run,"
"When first you went to carry a gun"
"Indeed your dancing days are done"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I carve the inside of the soon-to-be bowl, It was about 30% Done or so.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I still kept carving the inside of the bowl out, making it more smooth, so it would fit better onto my leg.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns"
"The enemy never slew ya"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I begin carving the bottom of the bowl out with a hole, so I could wedge the pegleg part into the bottom of the bowl.
"You hadn't an arm, you hadn't a leg,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"You hadn't an arm, you hadn't a leg,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I continue carving the hole into the bowl, making sure not to carve through it.
"You hadn't an arm, you hadn't a leg"
"You're a spinless, boneless, chickenless egg"
"You'll Have to be put with the bowl to begJohnny I hardly knew ya"
I place the bowl thing onto my leg, to see if it fits onto my leg stump.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I continue working on the bowl, making it fit better on my leg stump.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns"
"The enemy never slew ya"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I wedged the pegleg part into the bowl, finally finishing a crude pegleg. But I wasn't satisfied, as the leg was to tall and ugly.
"I'm happy for to see ya home,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"I'm happy for to see ya home,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I began to cut off the height of the peg leg, so that it'd be comfortable to walk around.
"I'm happy for to see ya home"
"From the isle of Ceylon"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya"
I fit it back on, but still wasn't satisfied.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns,"
"Hurroo Hurroo"
I continue to work on the height, and making sure it fit snugly to my leg stump.
"We had guns and drums and drums and guns"
"The enemy never slew ya"
"Johnny I hardly knew ya..."
I finish my work, as I finish singing. I fit the pegleg onto my leg and begin walking around. It fot really well, I say. I should improve my peglegs stability, but this will do for now.
I was then surprised to hear a voice behind me saying "You're a really good at singing, Dave."
I quickly turn around and see that Reimu girl standing behind me with... Food on her hands? "What song was that?" She asks.
"Oh, well. It's a song called "Johnny I hardly knew ya". I mainly sang to keep myself energized while working..." I then feel my face burn up as I ask "How long have you been here?"
"from about the start of your singing." She answers.
I sigh and mutter "Of course..." Then I ask her "What is it you want?"
"Well, You mentioned you were hungry for a while and had no rations left, so I brought you some food to help you out of this desperate situation." She explains to me, a caring look on her face.
"Huh... Thanks. I don't mean to be rude, I haven't talked to anyone properly for a long time now, so I have a bit of trouble showing gratitude." I say, sheepishly scratching the back of my head while smiling.
I take the food from her hands and say "Still, thanks... Come by anytime if you want. It's nice for me to finally talk with little worry."
She nods her head and says "I will. see you later." and flew away...
She flew away...
Fuck! I need a way of transport and I'm not gonna be able to fly anytime soon! I'm gonna have to rely on my basic engineering skills and shit! I need to go and bring the stone into the forge and build a damn foundry! I'm determined to just build a bloody steam engine!
I walked toward the crash wreck that I made of the wagons and begin looting it for stone.
I transport large bricks of stone to the base, and to the forge area. I needed to make the room fireproof now, don't i? I lay the bricks down, one by one, slowly laying a floor down for the (pretty small) forge.
I kept going back up to the wagons, transporting the stone to the forge and continue laying a floor for the forge.
I finally stopped doing that, once I realized that I forgotten to eat yet again, so I grabbed the food tha Reimu gave me and began eating it.
I'll be honest, it was pretty damn tasty. Even more so, since I forgot to eat! It was fulfilling! Incredible even!...
But I had to continue working, so I finished the meal and went back to work. Specifically, I went back to transporting stone to the forge. Which takes a while, because LARGE STONE BRICKS ARE BLOODY HEAVY!
I then finally realized, that I forgot to go and wash off the trail of blood that leads to my hidden entrance. So I quickly went to the lake to grab some water with the ducttape pot i made a while ago and i brought the water back to my base.
I washed the grass near my entrance, so that there wouldn't be blood indicating of it's location. I just hoped it was enough.
But work needed to be done, so I went back to the destroyed wagons and continued to transport the stone to the Forge.
At the end of the day, the floor was about... lets say 40% done. So I needed to do the othe 60%. I could replace about 10% as wood, but it's safer to have it all stone.
I went to sleep that day, somewhat happy and...
somewhat terrified.
If those two had found my base, then who else noticed? Would I be killed in my sleep? Is it safe to be here? Will I be robbed? Is the darkness... Alive?
I was haunted by my thoughts. It plagued me. Interested me... The "what if"-s of this world of seemingly magical capabilities, made my imagination run wild.
Magic... The very word, perplexes me. We often describe magic as, to put in my words: "Unexplainable science and idiocy". Well, I was gravely mistaken.
This world is FULL of magic...
Well, from an outside perspective, it seems to be full, but I bet that for the denizens, it's a bit... Lacking...
Since magic IS real, I want to study it.
No, NEED do study it. Because if this is the case, I would make my goal as thus:
Find a way to exploit magic, in order to open portals.
Why portals? Why not? There's a loud of... Interesting things to be discovered with the use of portals...
And if this place exist... I want to make a portal, that leads to the Fallen London universe. Access to some of the materials there, would be splendid.
The damp, uncontrollable chaos of the Neath, lures me. The materials, the stories, the possible riches and experiences...
it lures me. it makes me wish. and it makes me think.
But that goal is so far off into the future. I have literally no clue how magic works, or how do utilize it. So for now, I will focus on immediate goals.
Sunrise and Sunshine
I wake up to darkness of my base, tired and thirsty.
Picking up my bag, I take out a bottle of water and drank it. I needed to do my basic everyday essentials of going to the loo, getting food and water.
I get up from my positsion and head towards the ladder, climbing up it and opening the hatch, only to be greeted by clouds...
As in, it was cloudy. That's it. Nothing special... Anyway, I got up out of the base and closed the hatch behind me. I took a deep breath of fresh air and let it out, and after a long silence...
"Fuck it." I say, as I am already annoyed by the day, but I need to deal with catching food and getting fresh water from the lake.
So I faced myself towards the lake, and began moving forward... Which was hard, since I now have a pegleg instead of an actual foot. Running was gonna be even harder, but fucking... don't care. I don't regret the way I treated my leg...
I should re-apply new bandages now, but I don't care. I needed to get some fish amd some fresh water.
After finally reaching the lake (It's surprisingly hard to walk, when you suddenly have a pegleg... And when you forget to make a foot attachment.), I grabbed my fishing spear and began to fish. I needed food. Needed food and water, but this is the only source of food I have right now.
I suppose I could trade with the villagers, but I assume the chances that they know English is next to none. Besides, I'd want my home to be done first. I still need to build the Forge (N-E; F.D.), Maybe a workshop next to the Forge. Or storage? Or maybe an actual living room and bedroom?... I'll deal with that later.
Oh, fish! Come here, fishy! And... Got ya! Got ya with the spear!
Oh, anyway. I got a decent-sized fish. Well... Decent enough to fill the stomach... No, I'm gonna catch more fish. Would rather have more fish, ya see? Though, a diet of mainly fish isn't good for me. I'm surprised I haven't gotten scurvy yet...
I shouldn't jinx it, though.
The waters, as always, are a bit... Well, how would I explain the damn waters? I ain't a sailor! OR a fisherman!... or fishman... My memory has been lacking, about my past... I've been forgetting info of what it was like before I ended up here.
'nother fish. There's another fish there. I ready my throw, and aimed... I threw... And I got the fish! A big one! These two will do.
Picking up the two fish, I began my trip to the fire place. I still would keep it far from my base, because I don't want a beacon to my base.
... I forgot the water... So I quckly went back to the lake, got a fair bit of water and resumed my trip to the fireplace, having wasted a bit of time.
The trip was uneventful, sadly. Though, now that I think about it, I feel like I am being watched... I don't like that thought. It makes me even more paranoid. I already have trouble sleeping as is, I don't need more.
AND I DON'T NEED TO DESCENT INTO INSANITY! I'd like to keep my common thoughts, thank you!
Anyway, I finally managed to reach the place where I normally cook the fish and purify the water, The so-called "fire pit"...
I'll be honest, it's just a scortch (scorch? Damn it! My brain just farted and I can't remember the word!) mark on the ground and that's about it. It's just a "place where there was fire" with a log for sitting next to it.
I place the two fish down, and chop up a log for some fire wood. I set up the fire and get something to ignite it... "Fück, My Lighter rän öut." Was the words that I said to myself, when I realized I can't light the fire easily anymore.
And then... The dread set in... "I'm gonna have to bang two rocks together, or use somesort of other tool to light the fire... Fuck."
I was, without a doubt, in a bad mood. My day for working and planning, ruined. I have to finda new ignition source... Hell, one of those sailor's lighters would be a great pick! But what are the chances of a sailor, who has one, end up here? And I'm talking about the lighter that uses rope as fuel. charred rope, to be specific. I heard it lasts for a LONG time. But finding that sort of lighter is a goal for the future. Besides, what are the chances? A soldier may have a lighter, but a sailor having that specific lighter? Nah, not gonna happen.
So I picked up a couple of rocks and began tying to light a fire... Without any sort of... Kindling, was it? Without anysort of way for the firewood to catch on fire.
I grabbed some tufts of grass and placed it on the firewood and I began working... And working... And working... And... Working... It took over an hour! A FUCKING HOUR!
Let it be known! Having a lighter is a fucking god's miracle! Being able to light the fire easily was SO GOOD! But banging rocks together IS TEDIOUS AND STUPID! I fucking hated it! But the finally was lit...
Anyway, The fire was finally lit... The fish were cleaned... Now, it was time to cook the fish until it is crispy. Then purifying the water using my makeshift purifying set... (It's just a ducttape pot with lake water being boiled and collected into one of my empty water bottles.)
That took another hour, but at the end it was done. The fish was crispy, the water was collected and purified...
I was in my own thoughts by then. It was mainly "Maybe I could trade with the villagers? Sell items, gain money, buy food and-" But a sudden stop came to my thoughts, because my logical side thought "The changes that they understand English, is slim to none. And they could be one of those villages that don't like outsiders. As in, they don't like unfamiliar faces, new faces..."
So, I decided not to bother going to the village and that going there would be too much of a hassle. I continued walking back towards the base...
Walking with a pegleg is still hard to get used to. I'm constantly afraid of falling over while walking. I never understood how hard it can be to walk with a pegleg.
I reached my base finally and I began transporting stone yet again. The forge was coming along nicely.
But while I was in my base when transporting stone, I thought I heard something. on the surface, so I quickly closed the hatch and listened...
Voices... It's voices yet again... I opened the hatch slowly, in order to peek and what I saw was the Ice flinger and her friend... I just quickly closed the hatch and continued waiting 'till they fucked off.
They eventually did fly off, but that event wasted precious time fro me to continue building the forge, So I went back to work.
I continued bringing the stone down to the forge and managed to build about 60% of the floor.
Thankfully I'm not running out of stone anytime soon.
The sun was fibally setting, so I had no choice but to fall asleep... And my thoughts went wild yet again.
What if winter is near? What if I'm not ready for winter? I hardly have any food to store somewhere. I'd be caught with my pants down, if winter would hit suddenly.
I needed to be ready, but I don't feel ready. I am still just not ready... How would I get home? At least when I was at home, I could-. Wait... I'd probably not have a home anymore... It'd be taken away probably, because of rent.
So... This is my home now... Underground, surviving each day with worry of trying not to get sick...
Fuck... I'm not giving up that easily. If this land wants to fuck with me and my mind, I'll fuck with it right back. I will bloody show how I am pissed off by this. And how I am willing to fuck up the land, just because of petty vengence. This... This is a promise... I will fuck up this land in any method possible.
I then finally fell asleep. My goal became from "Surviving and finding a way home" to "Fuck up the land, for fucking up my life". And I'll be damned before giving up my goal.
Another day of work.
I woke up and was greeted t darkness yet again... I got up, and went towards the ladder. I climbed up, opened the hatch and... Cloudy weather again. A bit stormy as well... Well, I should do my daily needs first, then continue working on the forge.
I got out of my base and closed the hatch behind me, then went toward the lake yet again and began fishing agai-.
dead body... There's a dead body there...
Poor sod... Looks to be female. Guts are torned out, sprained legs. Sad tosser didn't survive... This is a grim reminder of what this land can, no... WILL do to me, inevitably, if i don't do something... Jeez, It looks like she died screaming...
Well, I'm usually in a hurry, but I'm also respectful. So i bowed my head, placed my hat on my chest with my hand and muttered somesort of comforting prayer...
(A/N: I think the music "War Makes Men Mad" from the game "Valiant Hearts: the Great War" fits perfectly here.)
"Good god... I may be an atheist, I do believe you shouldn't have experienced such an ending... You took a gamble and failed, it seems... I may not know your name, but I hope you can forgive me for looting your corpse. I will try to bury you, because you deserve proper rest... I hope you got into whatever afterlife you wished for..."
I then begin dragging her corpse towards my base, my intent being to bury her body next to my base... It may seem like not much, but by my left bollock, I will not let it be such a sad end...
That corpse, could be me... And if I were to die, this is how I'd like to be treated... No grandiose, no coffins or anything. Just bury my body and that's it... Hell, I would've wanted someone from outside this world to talk to... Poor lass died though...
Shit, I'm mumbling my thoughts out now... I need to keep focus. Need to stay commited. Can't give up...
Finally, I made it back to my base. I picked up my axe and I began using it as a shovel to dig a shallow grave for the unknown corpse...
Damn, I wish I had my cider... The sweet taste of sparkling apple cider, one of the only few things that reminds me of home...
Finally, I'm done digging. I turn my head to the corpse and mutter "I'm sorry. But i need to loot you for items, because of my own survival..." and began searching the corpse...
Evidently, I found a couple of things. a lighter, a picture if her and her family... and a phone.
The phone seems to be in working order... But it's of course password protected... That's all that I found on her body, so I finally pushed her body into the makeshift grave and began burying her...
After I finally finish, I began work on building somesort of tombstone, a marking of her corpse being here... It was gonna be a simple wooden cross.
I went to my workbench, and began cutting up two boards of wood from a log. It was a... more painful task than i would have suspected... Maybe because i know it's for a corpse, a used-to-be living being... I feel sorry for her, even though she's completely unknown to me, but it just... Hits right in my heart, to see a person who died just a walk away... I hate that thought. It makes me think that I could have saved her, but I very well know that it wouldn't be a possibility.
Still... It doesn't mean i can't feel grief...
I finally finish cutting up the two boards and begin making the cross for her grave. a bit of clever wedging techniques and I manage to fully create the cross.
I place the cross over the the grave, hammer it down and step back... I then placed my hat on my chest again and bowed my head in a silent prayer...
I got back up and went towards the lake again, just to do my daily needs... I fished, I gathered water and i went back to the fire place... My morale was... Severely broken... I had the strength to do just m daily needs, but then... I'm not in the mood to continue my work on the Forge... I'll just take a day or two off... need to rest from this horrid event...
I then basically sat down and began thinking of what would happen to me, If something went wrong...
Well, I hope you fine folks enjoyed my new part of this ever-going story.
Now if you'll excuse me, I will head to sleep and try to enjoy sleeping
As always, this has been me and I hope you come back and listen in on more of my tales and exploits.
A/N: Well, I managed to get a chapter done. It's just that I will update less and that's it.
I've got more things to do in life and such. I hope I did a splendid job, but i felt a bit... weird? No, that's not the right word... Well, It didn't feel right on how I included the two characters.
But anyway, this has been ddomster19, but you can call me Harks, and I will be signing off...
(U/A/N: Well, hopefully it's good now. I'm not gonna fix some mistakes, because I want them to act as a reminder. Maybe one day I'll rewrite all this... Probably not.)
