-Roadway to the Hakurei Shrine, Nighttime-
BGM: Dolls in Pseudo Paradise - Eternal Shrine Maiden
Tenshi, Shimmy, and Shion were flying towards the direction of the Hakurei Shrine. Right now it was night.
The reason for this was receiving a mysterious message that said: "Meet me at the Hakurei Shrine tonight at midnight exactly. M. Hakurei".
"Do you know who sent it, Tenshi?" Sukuna asked.
"I don't know, Shimmy. But I'm sure we will get answers there…" Tenshi said.
When they got to the stairs they saw a big floating yin-yang similar to the ones used by Reimu.
Then it split into two parts. The yin and yang parts of the orb.
The white part of the orb which was the yin turned into a female priestess wearing red robes with long, flowing red hair, horns, and glowing red eyes.
And the red part of the orb which was the yang turned into a male priest wearing white and blue robes with glowing red eyes. He seemed to bear a slight resemblance to an onmyouji from Feudal Japan.
"I am Sin," the priestess said.
"I am Gyouko," the priest said.
"We are SinGyouko," the male and female said at once.
"Oh well, I never heard of you two before…" Tenshi said.
"We have come here to test all three of your strength to see if you are worthy," Sin said.
"I see! Well bring it on, I welcome a challenge!" Tenshi shouted.
"I'll help Tenshi!" Sukuna yelled out.
BGM: The Positive and Negative (Remastered Version 2)
Sin and Gyouko then turned back into the Giant Hakurei yin-yang orb which then rushed onward to them.
In response Tenshi, Shion and Sukuna fired at SinGyouko which did not do any damage to them in their combined Hakurei Yin-Yang orb, which in response began to fire danmaku at them. They had to dodge the danamku while also avoiding being crushed by the Hakurei Orb that SinGyouko tried to attack in.
"Rebound: The Guardians' Pounce!" SinGyouko shouted as they began to bounce on the floor, causing a lot of danamku to form whenever they land on the ground. There is also the fact they were in their big Hakurei yin-yang orb that was trying to crush Tenshi and co.
"Earthquake: Escarpment Evacuation Route!" Tenshi said as several keystones came down from the sky with one opening being present among the large amounts of keystones present. The keystones seemed to do damage as seen when this canceled out SinGyouko's spell card causing them to split back into Sin and Gyouko.
In response both Sin and Gyouko just fired white-shaped bullets and amulets at Tenshi, Shion, and Sukuna who dodged them in response.
"Misery: Notes of Misfortune!" Shion said as she fired dark purple lasers while firing a lot of papers that have curse signs on both Sin and Gyouko. They were hit by the attack.
In response, both of them turned into the Hakurei Orb and began to try to hit Shion, Tenshi, and Sukuna but they dodged the attack.
"Hakurei Gate: The Unbreakable Sight of the Guardians!" SinGyouko said as both turned into a yin orb and a yang orb and began to bounce everywhere, leaving lasers wherever they go.
Shion was unfortunate enough to be hit by the attack alongside Sukuna. However, Tenshi managed to avoid being hit by the attack.
"Unfortunate Wave!" Shion shouted as she let loose her wave which seemed to hit Sin and Gyouko at the same time, in a moment of bad luck.
"Fishing Sign: Adorable Tai Gong Wang!" Sukuna said as she hit Sin and Gyouko with her Shining Needle Sword which caused a blue blast to head to the ground and cause big blue fish-like danmaku that did seem to catch them which caused the duo of orbs to be hit and seemingly take damage. Canceling their spell cards and both revert back into their humanoid forms.
"FANTASY SEAL!" SinGyouko said as both used Fantasy Seal and shot a lot of homing orbs but it is twice as much due to both being present.
"Peach Sign: Hermit's Peach of Steadfast Durability!" Tenshi shouted as she took out a peach and ate it which seemed to cause a yellow aura to appear around her. "Get behind MEEEE!"
This caused Shion and Sukuna to be convinced and got behind the celestial. She ended up soaking up a lot of the attack.
"HATE SIGN: DESPAIR SPARK!" Shion shouted out loud as she began to now channel her power into the attack which hit SinGyouko.
Both Sin and Gyouko were clearly defeated and could not fight.
BGM End.
"You three are certainly worthy may we meet again…" SinGyouko said as both Sin and Gyouko turned into a big Hakurei Orb and disappeared.
"They were…an unexpected bunch…" Sukuna said.
"I know Shimmy, but we will probably find out why they were here soon…" Shion said.
They then flew up to the torii of the Hakurei Shrine.
Currently, the Hakurei Shrine looked abandoned and dark as Reimu was still going out giving back all the money she unjustly scammed from those of Gensokyo. Especially those from the Human Village.
"Who would even call us to go to the shrine?" Tenshi asked.
"I don't know, but don't worry I got you, Tenshi!" Sukuna shouted.
Tenshi smiled at her, and said: "Thank you, Shimmy…"
They then went toward the center of the Hakurei Shrine's courtyard.
"Now who has sent the message?" Shion asked.
"The message only said "M. Hakurei"," Tenshi said.
"Is that French for "Mr. Hakurei"?" Sukuna asked.
Tenshi saw someone open the sliding doors of the shrine and revealed herself as the moon shined its moonlight down on the mysterious stranger.
"Right on time," she said.
Said mysterious stranger looks like Reimu Hakurei and she has detached sleeves, wears combat boots, wears a red hakama, and a tight black leotard underneath. She has a hime cut and has a bow and hair tubes, like Reimu, and an ahoge sticking in her black hair. Her figure has a curvy and muscular look. This is Reimu's mother/predecessor, Misaki Hakurei.
"No. It must be the first letter of her-or rather YOUR name. Isn't it, Misaki Hakurei?" Tenshi asked.
"You guessed right, Tenshi Hinanawi," Misaki said.
"Wait as in the one before Reimu?" Sukuna asked with surprise.
"That is right," Misaki said.
"So that makes you the presumed dead Misaki Hakurei, right? Everyone has a different story. Some say you are at the Shrine while your daughter is solving Incidents. Some others say that you are dead and that your ghost is haunting the Shrine. But who is right and who is wrong, no one knows. Not even the Sages can agree on what state you are in, as they say," Tenshi said.
"I am simply here to do what I can do to help out the Hakurei Family line...but now I am wondering where did I go wrong with Reimu…" Misaki said.
"If you ask me, it's her birth. She never should've been born. She was born with a lazy and greedy soul that overcame any sense of duty," Tenshi said as she began to look angry at mentioning Reimu.
"Her causing this incident and her personality, in general, are now making me considering disowning her from the Hakurei Family…" Misaki said as she had a thoughtful look on her face.
"Good idea!" Tenshi approved.
"Yeah! What she did was inexcusable!" Sukuna shouted.
Shion nodded.
Misaki sighs.
"Speaking of which. What was your reason for calling me and my friends here," Tenshi said.
"To test the strength of the Celestial who has defeated Reimu twice," Misaki said.
"Oh...so it's a test then...well I say I am willing to do so, then!" Tenshi shouted.
Misaki grinned.
"Don't worry we'll help you Tenshi!" Shion shouted.
"Yeah! I'll help with my miracle mallet!" Sukuna shouted.
"It's your choice. Help or no help?" Misaki said.
"Help. I do not mind the help right now," Tenshi said.
"Yay!" Sukuna shouted.
"I see. Good to hear you are considerate of others," Misaki said.
"Well of course I am," Tenshi said.
BGM: Touhou Luna Nights BGM - Extra Stage Boss - Maiden's Capriccio
Misaki then pulled out her gohei, which looked like the one used by Reimu, and then immediately began to fire a lot of amulets at Tenshi, Shion, and Sukuna and they had to dodge them as there seems to be way more than what Reimu has done. The Predecessor of Reimu then teleported behind Sukuna and did a roundhouse kick which hit her a little far away. She was in her "big" form, so she wasn't hurt badly.
Tenshi went to try to hit Misaki with her Sword of Hisou but the Hakurei Miko avoided it and hit the Celestial with her gohei. It did more damage than what was expected as the blue-haired girl saw parts of her clothing was damaged by the hit.
"Spirit Sign: Sword of Meteorological Revelation!" Tenshi said as she sent forth a projectile that managed to hit Misaki. This ended up causing Mountain Vapor to appear meaning everyone unable to see their Spell Cards. And therefore, they don't know what they're about to use.
"]#]+^{{=*{{+**&$! (Sign: Mischance Scatter!)" Shion said as she began to fire purple curse signs in five different directions.
Misaki of course dodged and weaved through the signs coming towards her. Though she did not hear it being said that so she was a little caught off by surprise.
"}*+%^]=*[=[^+}*! (Prayer: Disaster-Dispelling Prayer!)" Misaki shouted as she fired red amulets that turned orange and create waves of amulets. There were way more amulets than usual since she was stronger than Reimu. Shion was hit by the onslaught of projectiles, tearing her clothing off further.
Misaki then teleported behind and tried to whack Tenshi behind her head but then Sukuna fished the Previous Hakurei Shrine Maiden over to her and hit her with the bowl. Shion and Tenshi shot their own projectiles at Misaki who took damage again.
"}*[^£]=_=•*]€_++:-? (Dream Land: Great Duplex Barrier)!" Misaki said as she created a barrier that warps bullets to the opposite side. However there were a lot more bullets present that were warped to the other side, this caused Tenshi to take some damage during the attack.
During this, Shion decided to unleash her power and assume her true form as she saw that Misaki isn't going to be as easy as Reimu was, even if this was just a test.
"}=^[%_^*]^#[^^%[ (Attack on Dwarf)!" Sukuna said as she began to fire danmaku in a circular pattern around her with openings where there are medium-sized purple orbs that stopped at a certain point and then homed in on Misaki. She of course grazed through the attack but was hit by one of the medium-sized orbs because Shion's bad luck kicked in ending up causing her to run into one.
"{[|¥£€^{*\++_= [%*_^^ (Bewitched Sword: Shining Needle Sword)!" Sukuna said as she began to fire out blue knives and big grey knives that homed in on Misaki.
Throughout the whole fight, no one was able to find out what spell card they were using and so were surprised by the attacks that occurred.
"=]*%~\£=_*\*+_=+\+\£ (Weather: Scarlet Weather Stimulation)!" Tenshi shouted as she shot temperaments at Misaki which managed to hit her, so the Mountain Vapor disappeared and was replaced by River Mist. Now objects and people were either closer or further than they seemed.
Sukuna who was far away was suddenly now in front of Misaki. In response to this, the Previous Hakurei Miko then hit the Inchling with her Gohei which did a lot of damage sending her a little bit away.
"Earthquake: Sword of Pleasure After Hardship!" Tenshi shouted as she stabbed her sword into the ground and suddenly it began to rock. Seeing this Misaki tried to get out of there, and then the weather kicked in and she was suddenly far away.
"Convenient for you," Tenshi said unamused.
"Mallet: Lavish Banquet of Legend!" Sukuna shouted as she then began to spin while swinging her Miracle Mallet. She appeared in front of Misaki due to the River Mist's effects. Misaki ended up slamming into the ground which ended up causing her to take a lot of damage as an earthquake happened due to Tenshi.
Despite taking a lot of damage she was shown to still be able to walk, showing off her strength.
"Holy Relic: Yin-Yang Kishin Orb!" Misaki shouted as she appeared before Shion and poured a LOT of holy power into her hand, and created a blue yin-yang orb that was twice as big as Reimu's version of the attack. She teleported close to Tenshi and had her take the brunt of the attack doing a lot of damage to the celestial. She then was hit by Sukuna and saw she was being shot at by Shion.
With Shion being far away and Sukuna close to Misaki due to the effects of the River Mist.
"Spell-Sealer!" Misaki shouted as she sent forth a seal that ended up hitting Sukuna and was attached to her. The Inchling tried to use a spell card but found out she couldn't use it.
'Uh oh! I can't use it because of the seal, isn't it?' Sukuna thought.
"Dream Sign: Fiend-Smiting Barriers!" Misaki yelled out as she began to fire out a lot of small barriers that began to home in on Shion, Sukuna, and Tenshi while also firing many amulets. They actually hit Shion due to her bad luck but Tenshi was able to endure the attack due to her insane durability as a celestial.
"The Most Despicable and Disastrous God of Destitution and Misery!" Shion shouted as she seemed to enter into a hole which then had Misaki also enter it. Once inside she saw a lot of purple curse signs coming from all directions, some big and some small.
She kept dodging them including the big ones as well. The Previous Hakurei Shrine Maiden was either grazing through the bullets, setting up barriers to prevent herself from being hit, or just teleported through them easily.
Misaki heard cracking noises as she proceeded to dodge the attacks coming towards her. She was hit several times but wasn't slowing down any time soon. A wall of purple curse signs tried to hit her but she avoided it by creating a barrier that blocked the majority of curse signs and she did not suffer a lot of damage from the attack.
The final attack was her being surrounded but of course, she was able to graze through the small openings and create borders to prevent herself from taking a lot of damage.
Then finally, there was a loud cracking sound akin to glass breaking and Misaki was back with Shion who was now firing a lot of Purple Curse Signs at Misaki.
BGM: [東方 Orchestral] [Liz Triangle] 深淵の災禍
Then the weather began to change and now there was an aurora that appeared. Replacing the River Mist. It randomly does weather effects on people so in this case, it will make it so people won't be stunned or flinch at all despite being hit, by Typhoon's weather effect.
"FANTASY SEAL!" Unlike Reimu's version of the legendary attack, there were way more homing orbs than usual and so they began to home in on Tenshi, Shion, and Sukuna which did a lot of damage to them. Due to the weather effects,' it causes them to be unflinching.
"Keystone: Kaname Funnel!" Tenshi yelled as she summoned keystones that locked on Reimu and began to fire lasers that hit Misaki. Though it didn't even make her flinch due to the weather's effect.
Throughout the battle, both sides took heavy damage. Misaki from the earthquake and some more from Shion's Last Spell Card used during the Possession Incident. Tenshi, Sukuna, and Shion themselves suffered damage from Misaki's Fantasy Seal which did more damage than what was expected. They all had tears in their clothing and showed off some of their skin and underwear with Misaki's muscles showing. Shion had a hole around the thigh that showed she couldn't afford underwear.
"So it seems that we've come to the closing end of our fight," Misaki said.
"Then let's do this!" Tenshi shouted as she was ready.
Misaki then teleported near Tenshi and was about to go and hit her but was hit in the face by Sukuna, though the Previous Hakurei Maiden created a barrier to prevent herself from being hit.
Shion then fired a lot more curse signs while Sukuna realized that the seal had come off.
"The Seven Issun-Boushi!" Sukuna shouted as she summoned six transparent versions of herself which began to fire orbs that relate to the colors of the rainbow with the original Inchling firing kunai-shaped bullets that have colors of those on the rainbow.
Misaki was hit by the attack but threw three persuasion needles at the girl but Shion got in front of her to take the brunt of the damage while also unleashing purple curse signs at the Previous Hakurei Shrine Maiden. Then Misaki teleported in front of Shion and hit her with the gohei which did damage to the girl and sending her away. Shion tried to retaliate but the Previous Shrine Maiden shot amulets that ended up hitting the girl. All while taking damage from being hit by Sukuna's projectiles from her final spell card.
"Divine Arts: Omnidirectional Oni-Binding Circle!" Misaki shouted as she summoned forth a pillar of light that did way more damage and caught both Sukuna and Shion which took them both out.
"Keystone: World Creation Press!" Tenshi said as she flew into the air and created a giant keystone in the sky. She came down with such great speeds it managed to hit Misaki.
This finally defeated the predecessor of Reimu Hakurei.
BGM End.
The big keystone was destroyed as soon as it hit. Showing off that Misaki was heavily damaged and seemed to not want to fight now. But she still got up like it was no big deal.
"Not bad," Misaki said and began to chuckle. "Not bad at all…You should've been born a Hakurei rather than a Hinanawi."
"Yep, I would have been perfect. The perfect shrine maiden," Tenshi said with a grin.
Misaki chuckled even more.
"Yes. Perfect," Shion said with a smile. Despite her shirt and skirt being so damaged she had to hold the both of them up.
"You would have been the best Hakurei Miko ever, Tenshi!" Sukuna shouted.
"Thanks, you two!" Tenshi shouted as she hugged them.
Misaki was smiling at them as they were hugging each other. She then left while saying: "I look forward to facing you again."
"And there she goes…" Tenshi said.
"I wonder when we will see her again…" Shion wondered.
"Me too…" Sukuna said.

-2 Hours Later, Nighttime; Heaven-
The trio was hanging out in Heaven. Right now the moon was high, signaling that it was still nighttime.
"You know, I just realized this…" Sukuna said.
"Realized what?" Shion asked.
Tenshi was eating a peach.
"Out of all things that happened…what was even SinGyouko anyways and why haven't we met them beforehand?" Sukuna said.
"Well, I heard that these two served the previous shrine maiden, who we fought right afterward," Tenshi said.
"But yet here they are now…you know isn't this is a bit suspicious though? Why would they be there then? They were testing us…but why?" Shion asked.
"Well, the so-called ghost of their master was there, right? These two must've tested us to see that we were worthy of facing her," Tenshi said.
"Don't you mean "see IF we were worthy"?" Shion asked.
"Nah. I knew we were worthy all along!" Tenshi shouted.
"I see…" Sukuna said.
Tenshi gave a hearty laugh.
"Speaking of which. I do wonder if the Hakurei God dislikes Reimu now for what she has done?" Sukuna asked.
"Yes. I think so," Shion said.
"If her mother was this displeased with her, I can only imagine how her god feels like," Tenshi said. "Speaking of which…I doubt Misaki is even a ghost at all…"
"What makes you say that?" Sukuna said.
"Well for one…ghosts usually look transparent-like…the Ghost Princess of the Netherworld is an example of this," Tenshi said. "And my sword reacts in a rather specific way to ghosts. And it didn't react like if I was facing a ghost."
"I see…" Shion said.
"What else makes you say that?" Sukuna said.
"She never called herself a ghost, and we all know that Hakureis are as good at lying as onis, so that must've been how she didn't reveal any lie, by omitting details," Tenshi said.
"Did Suika teach you how to detect liars?" Shion asked.
"She taught me the basics. I learned the rest from talking to Seija," Tenshi said.
"What is she hiding?" Shion wondered.
"More importantly…what happens now?" Sukuna asked.
"We await. For I am sure a huge Incident is coming very soon," Tenshi said with a serious look on her face, which then turned with a gentle grin. "So, anyone wanna hit the hot springs?"
"Yay!" Sukuna shouted
"I would love to," Shion said.
"Then let's go!" Tenshi shouted.
She hugs them as they fly away.

A/n: And there we go. The extra stage!
Yep, SinGyouko is the extra stage midboss. They don't usually show up a lot in Touhou fanfics and I do wish to change it.
Fun fact: SinGyouko is the FIRST boss that shows up in Touhou so there's that to note.
As for the extra stage boss, Misaki Hakurei is her name and she's going to be based on Hakurei Miko from the other media about her including appearance. The difference is that she is alive in this story and is strong as ever.
