Bonus Chapter: A Wispy Visit.
One month and two weeks later...During the events of "Sonic In Between"...
Life has been such a bliss lately. Quiet and maybe a bit boring, but for Sonic, something new always comes. He had tons of fun in his adventures with his little brother Tails in Isalenna, reuniting with their other brother Sun the Hedgehog who, a month before the duo's big adventure up in space, had to save the world from the dangerous and notorious criminals the Hybrians lead by Eggman's number 1 fan Dr. Starline and rescue Staria who's past was finally revealed, which was a shock to everyone including the lavender hedgehog. Sonic and Tails even helped to save the peaceful town of Tesrod from an evil Museum Cleaner who used a powerful artifact to grow into a giant, then the blue hedgehog was transported to an alternate world of King Arthur to save it as well as the king himself.
Then a week after returning home from where, Sonic and Tails continued their own adventure before returning home themselves, yet the hero of Mobius went on another solo adventure only to get caught up in an event which lead him to rescue and protect Princess Elise of Soleanna from the evil Julian Fredrick and his Organization called S.N.A.K.E.S who sought out to use the power of an evil Sun Stone, and with the help of his friends, he once again saved the world. That was two weeks ago now.
After such a crazy event from that adventure in Soleanna, Sonic decided to take it easy for a little while. As of now, the fifteen year old was taking a nap on a branch high up in a tree, hands behind his head and one leg over the other, looking very content as though his adventures involving Dark Gaia never happened, except he knew he had to be careful from now on. For the first time in ages, he felt in peace.
"Ah, yeah. Now this is life." Sonic sighed happily, a smile on his muzzle, his eyes closed as he wasn't fully asleep. "No robots, no near-end of the world crisis, no giant evil monsters or evil aliens, and especially no Eggman plotting to take over the world."
Even though the cobalt teenager knew that his life as a hero would never end as there would always be some random bad guy lurking somewhere, for now, he was enjoying the moment of peace and really, he wanted a break for once. Then again, he kind of missed saving the world from villains, and his legs were itching for another adventure, even just a peaceful visit somewhere. But he kept himself occupied by hanging out with his friends/family, going on runs, helping out people, even having a challenging race against Shadow when the emo black hedgehog had a little bit of time off from GUN.
He did miss some friends, though, ones he wouldn't see again but knew they were deep within his heart; Sharha in the Arabian Nights, Chip/Light Gaia who was sleeping for another millions of years, and Yacker and the Wisps, the very sweet, gentle, kind, brave and adorable little aliens with incredible powers, but had to be careful with due to the effects in losing those powers, the Hyper-Go-Ons, would cause.
'Hmmm, that reminds me. I wonder how Yacker, his mom and the other Wisps are doing? I wish there was a way to visit them.' Sonic thought to himself, now that thinking about his alien friends made him really miss the little guys. The only thing he didn't miss about them was their Nega-Wisp form whenever their powers were stolen. Boy, did the Frenzy and the Void abilities scare the heck out of him?
He was then strangely but gently brought out of his thoughts when he heard a familiar high-pitched gibberish squeals in front of him, and something small gently tap him on the nose. Confused and curious, half-thinking it was a Flicky with an unusual chirping or tweeting, Sonic opened his eyes and was about to yawn...when he saw one single eye, red in colour but cute looking with a familiar jellyfish shaped small body hover in front of him!
"AH!" Sonic yelped in fright as he leaned back at the unexpected sight. "What the!?"
The strange but familiar little creature squeaked in fright as well as it hovered back, flinching violently before it calmed down and then began giggling over the unsuspected blue hedgehog's little scare. It took him a few seconds to register on who was in front of him as his eyes widened in surprise and disbelief, recognizing the very cute Cyan-coloured alien. It was a Laser Wisp!
"Huh? You're...you're the Wisp with that Laser power!" Sonic realized, unable to believe it, and having finally managed to pronouce the little aliens' name properly. The cute Wisp nodded happily, as though it was so pleased to see him and it flew closer to the blue hedgehog who gently held out his opened gloved palms for it to sit in. "Where'd you come from, little guy? Did you get left behind or somethin'?"
The Cyan Wisp shook it's head, and began babbling in Wisp language. "Mm-mm. %$#& , #$%*$^ #%$&%^ %$%%^, #% %$^%?"
"Uhhhh...Sorry, little buddy. I still don't understand what you're trying to say." The blue hedgehog smiled apologetically with a shrug, before having an idea. "But I bet Tails will translate what you're saying. Wanna come with me to visit him?"
"Mm-hm!" The little cute alien nodded, with a look of happiness as while it knew the hero of Mobius didn't understand it, at least the two-tailed fox's Miles Electric's translation option would.
"Alright! Let's go!" Sonic declared smirking, and as he hopped down from the tree and landed on the ground, with his new friend gently landing on his head. "Ready, little guy?"
"^%$!" The Cyan Wisp saluted.
"Cool! Here we goooo!" The blue hedgehog declared as he sped off across the fields outside of Station Square with the Wisp clinging onto his quills, speeding towards the Mystic Ruins.
At the same time in the his workshop, Tails was busy reading through his Miles Electric, understanding something as he had a bit of a surprise himself with something hovering in front of him. A strange new Wisp that looked very cute, it was cobalt blue in colour like Sonic, but with a three curls on top of it's head, slim with two leg-like tails and four tentacle-like arms and two emerald-green eyes.
"This is amazing! I can't believe you're one of the newer kinds of Wisps with such an incrediable new power." The eight year old cub exclaimed in awe, and the new Wisp rubbed the back of it's head, bashfully with a hint of deep hue of pink just below it's eyes.
Just then, the two heard the sound of whooshing and looked to the left just in time to see Sonic and the Cyan Wisp come to a complete stop just in the doorway of the garage.
"Hey there, Tails. Look who came for a visit and found me?" Sonic greeted, pointing up at his passenger on his head as the little Wisp floated off and greeted with a squeal and a wave.
"Oh! Sonic! So that's where that Cyan Wisp went. You're just in time. I was just talking to a new friend right here." The two-tailed fox replied, gesturing at the Cobalt Wisp who floated over excitedly to it's fellow alien who squealed happily and the two floated around and flew playfully, much to the hedgehog's surprise when he took notice of the second visitor.
"Wow! A new Wisp that looks kind of like me? Way past cool!" Sonic exclaimed in awe. "Never seen this cute, handsome little guy before."
"Yeah, I just finished analyzing on what he said and this is the result." Tails explained as his big brother approached. "This new Wisp is called the Jumping Wisp. It was born just the other day along with a couple of other new Wisps that Mother Wisp has created."
"Pretty cool. I guess Yacker missed me so much that he asked his mom to give them new brothers and sisters that look alot like me." The blue hedgehog remarked.
The young kit nodded. "And that's not all. Despite the name of Jumping Wisp, or Jumper for short, these aliens are just learning a new power of their Hyper-Go-Ons to teleport to at least one world and back to their home of their choosing and take anyone with them, just as long as they're careful, according to the Mother Wisp, as this little guy just told me."
Sonic whistled, very impressed. "Pretty cool. That explains how these aliens got here to Mobius. When the Laser Wisp found me, I was worried that it got left behind and had to hide for one and a half months."
"Yeah, except...the Jumpers are still getting the hang of it, and while their first teleporation was a success, they had a bit of a bumpy landing and got separated with the ones they brought with them. The Cyan Wisps had the idea of coming to visit us." Tails explained, a little awkwardly, as the two aliens flew over and around the two Mobians who both smiled, and it was when they gazed at the Cyan alien, it was much more familiar to the best friends.
"I get it. You're one of the aliens I saved from Baldy McNosehair, right?" Sonic realized in amazement and familiarity at the Cyan Alien, who was one of the first three including Yacker he saved back in Eggman's Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park from Decoe, Bocoe, Bokkun, Orbot and Cubot.
The Cyan Wisp nodded, and happily hugged the teenager on the muzzle, prompting him to laugh.
"Ha ha ha ha ha! H-hey, that tickles!" The blue hedgehog laughed before he hugged it happily. "Aw, I knew you were familiar. It's great to see ya, pal!"
Tails giggle at the cute scene, before the Cyan Wisp then said something which had the young fox cub to translate on what it was saying. "The Cyan Wisp is saying that everybody misses us and was hoping we could come and visit their planet for a little while, promising to take us back home whenever we're ready."
"You know what? I don't see why not. Beside, I was kind of thinking of the same thing." Sonic smiled happily, liking the idea. "Looks like my wish in visiting them came true already. Whaddya say we go visit Planet Wisp, Tails?"
"Sure! I'd love to!" The eight year old exclaimed excitedly.
"Great! Then it's settled!" The hero of Mobius declared, turning to the Cyan Wisp. "Consider it a day-time visit, little guy."
The Cyan Wisp and the Jumping Wisp, already liking these two considering it was only about a week old and already trying to get the hang of it's powers, both cheered excitedly before the former hovered in the middle of the two Mobians and said something.
"He's saying to hold still as much of possible as Jumper is going to take us there..." Tails translated, before sweat-dropping nervously. "Uh...and he said that except to have a bit of a bumpy ride and landing."
"I'm sure we'll be fine. Besides, even if it's gonna be a hard landing and we end up split up, I'll find ya's in no-time flat." Sonic reassured, though he was a little bit uneasy with the crash landing part.
His best friend/little brother nodded, feeling more at ease knowing that the blue hedgehog was right. So the two stood as still as possible as they and the Cyan Wisp braced themselves, while the Jumping Wisp, being granted permission for the trip, then glowed in blue light, dissolving into sparkling lights and spun around the trio several times, with the two Mobians in awe by this new ability. Just then, they are being lifted off from the ground as a pillar of light surrounded all four of them and the next thing they knew, they vanished into being small orbs of light and shot up through the ceiling and into the sky, disappearing from Mobius and towards Planet Wisp.
One minute Sonic was feeling like he was flying in a speed of light, the next thing that happened, the sparkling light of the teleportation vanished and he had to blink a few times to adjust his vision. When he looked around, he found that he was outside and the sky was still as clear and blue with the white fluffy clouds...except that he didn't feel the ground beneath him.
"Huh?" The blue hedgehog muttered, before realizing to his horror, he was in mid-air. Flinching, he then shrugged helplessly to the viewers/readers, breaking the fourth wall. "Here comes the crash landing."
Then he fell towards the grass found below, screaming in alarm and fear, flailing his arms frantically, passing the familiar giant flower-shaped trees that had vines dangling. Just as he braced himself for another painful face-planting landing, suddenly Sonic found himself surrounded by the familiar magical energy like sphere that materialized and slowed his descended. Now confused, he looked around and found, to his surprise and relief, were the White Wisps, three of them, as they all looked on happily. It took a couple of moments for him to realize that, to his surprise, they were the three he saved and who had saved him when the Pink Wisps mistook him for the enemy.
"Hey...! It's you guys!" Sonic stated, smiling brightly.
The three White Wisps nodded, before they used their power to carry Sonic towards the ground and gently dropped him where he landed on his feet, dismissing the sphere and he sighed, wiping his forehead in relief.
"Thanks for the save. I thought for sure I was gonna have a crash landing." The blue hedgehog said gratefully. His friends squeelled happily and hugged him which hit his ticklish spot, making him laugh once more before he returned the embrace. "Oh man. I missed you guys, too!"
As the reunited group hugged and laughed, just then something green appeared in front of them, and at first Sonic thought it was the Green Wisp with the Hover ability...but what he saw made him shocked and quickly greatly worried. It was another Wisp, but in jade colour with a hood-like head with a pointy protrusion on the top and three tentacles that are wide near the middle and end in a jagged point, but like with the Nega-Wisps, it didn't have eyes, and it's mouth was wide, sharp fanged-like similar to a Jack'o Lantern on Halloween.
"AAAAH!" Sonic screamed, stumbling back and lost his balance before landing on the ground, crawling back a little. His heart hammered in fear, panic forming as deja vu was hitting him hard. "Oh no! What happened to you? How did you end up losing your Hyper-Go-On power? What's going on?"
It couldn't be Eggman, because that guy has been dead for almost two months now. Julian was dead as well and the S.N.A.K.E.S organization were still in jail back on Mobius, and Dr. Starline, while the blue hedgehog never met him, was also ancient history according to Sun. So what was causing the Wisps to lose their powers and become Nega-Wisps this time? Unless he missed some and had rendered in spending the rest of their lives as such. That thought brought up guilt in his chest. He thought that by smashing all of the Generators including smashing the factory which lost it's power on Asteroid Coaster that all of the Wisps had regained their Hyper-Go-Ons.
Did he and Tails miscalculate?
'No...That can't be...I thought...Oh, Chaos, how could I have-' Sonic thoughts were cut off when this new Jade-Nega-Wisp, who seemed to be confused while the White Wisps realized what was happening and attempted to reassure him, began to glow and dissolve into particles, making him gasp in horror as he realized it was about to lend him some kind of new power he might not like, and it wasn't going to be even just a little bit of the Hyper-Go-On, which to this day, he still felt uncomfortable in using in fear of accidentally using too much.
"No...No, please, wait! I don't wanna-" He didn't get the chance to finish as the new Jade Wisp flew right into his chest, making him scream in fear and expecting to feel the unwanted familiar pain of negative energy to fill up his senses, to trap his soul briefly within his own body and squeezed his eyes shut, bracing himself. "HELP ME! HELP ME!"
But to his surprise, the blue hedgehog didn't feel the painful negative energy as he thought he would. Instead, it was the familiar, warm, rainbow like energy that was exactly like the Hyper-Go-On power...In fact, it was the Hyper-Go-On, but this was so strange. Unlike the powers he burrowed before, he felt himself light and levitating, being at his own will as well as the new Wisp's, and found himself turning invisible and felt the need to do so, in such like...
"JADE GHOST!"
Sonic suddenly vanished and disappeared from the naked eye, yet he was still aware that he was there, and then began levitating and floating, similar to the Green Wisps and their Hover ability, but faster and almost like he was really flying. Despite the surprise and confusion, and not trapped like with the Nega-Wisps, the blue hedgehog in his current form began to quickly enjoying himself and flew around despite being invisible to the other Wisps who, sensing his and the Jade Wisp's presense, followed them. All fear and worries lifted as the teenage Mobian was cheering.
"YAAA-HOOOO!" Sonic cheered as he flew around the familiar and very beautiful sights of Planet Wisp, the alien world he loved so much. "Yeah! I'm flyin'!"
Eventually he landed just near the river as the new sun of the Planet Wisp's galaxy shone just like Mobius' sunlight shining down upon the world, and returned to normal while the new Jade Wisp flew out of his chest. As Sonic sighed while placing a hand to where his heart was still beating wildly, he looked up at the alien who was laughing cheekily like it was a mischief type. Seeing it do so while having felt it's naughty but fun personality, the blue hedgehog smiled in relief as his earlier claims about it being a Nega-Wisp were dismissed.
"Now I see. You didn't turn into a Nega-Wisp or lose your Hyper-Go-On. You're a prankster kind of little guy I've never seen before." Sonic realized, and the Jade-coloured alien nodded. He just laughed, before saying. "Hey, sorry for mistaking you for a Nega-Wisp. I was scared that you ended up losing your power or something, and, well...I had kind of an experience or two with the Frenzy and Void little guys before I turned them back to normal."
The Jade Wisp laughed and flew around the blue hedgehog and then seemed to grin with many other Wisps flying around and playing, seeing their hero and all looked so happy to see him again. When Sonic looked around, not only he saw all of the familiar Wisps, he caught sight of the aliens he never seen before, including more of the Jade Wisp and the Jumping Wisps. He saw red-round spiky Wisps with five eyes and six tentacles, light yellow Wisps with curls downward on their heads like they were hair with three blue eyes and one was holding a flower, violet purple Wisps that, unlike the Nega-Wisps, had eyes and looked just as cute, and gray Wisps that it's head was oddly shaped like a hammer.
"Wow!" Sonic breathed in awe at both of his familiar friends and the Wisps he didn't get the chance to see the last time he was here. Just then, the light-yellow Wisp flew over close to him after the other aliens gathered around him in a friendly greeting, the blue-eyes little alien held up a flower to him shyly, surprising him. "Huh? Is that for me?"
The Light-Yellow Wisp nodded, blushing a little.
"Aw, aren't you a sweet one? Thanks." The blue hedgehog said, genuiely surprised by the act of kindness and gently took the flower before sniffing, loving the scent. "It's beautiful."
The adorable little alien blushed even harder in happiness, squealing before going up to him and even though their mouths were invisible, Sonic blinked in surprise when it, or rather she, gave him a quick gentle kiss on the cheek in gratitude. Realizing that it was her way of saying thank you to him for saving their planet and all of their kind from the evil scientist, the hero of Mobius blushed in embarrassment with a sheepish chuckle. He then realized how he got here and looked around, remembering that Tails was with him but now his best friend/little brother was nowhere in sight.
"Hey, that reminds me. I forgot that the Jumping Wisp was still learning it's power. Gotta find Tails and see if he's okay." The fifteen year old muttered.
Suddenly just as he was thinking of where to go in order to find Tails, a huge shadow loomed over him which seemed to briefly block out the sun from his left. Confused yet hearing a gigantic musical, female sound over him, Sonic froze a little while his quills prickled the back of his neck, and when he looked up to see, he let out a frightened gasp as hovering and towering over him, was a familiar giant pink Wisp with heaps of tentacles, two blue fluffs on her torso, three eyes and lots of antennas on top of her head. While only having seen her briefly almost two months ago, even then he was that up close to the enormous alien he saved when she had been the Nega-Mother Wisp as he realized that this was the mother of Yacker and all of the Wisps.
The Mother Wisp seemed to hold a warm expression upon seeing the blue hedgehog who had saved her life, the lives of all of her children, and the planet she herself created long, long ago, while the hero of Mobius, not sure what to expect from the giant mother, felt very nervous. While he knew that she was a very caring mother, he was scared since in her Nega-form, only she had almost swallowed him whole when he was Super Sonic, but before that, she had, against her own will at the time, had gobbled up and swallowed Eggman whole, and now that he thought of it, the remains of the evil doctor was pretty much digested within her giant stomach by now.
"Uh...H-Hi, Yacker's Mom, ma'am." Sonic smiled weakly with a small wave, and a sweat drop. "Long time no see."
"&%$$#, #$%^%. (Hello, Sonic.)" The Mother Wisp greeted in return, feeling a little guilty for frightening the small, young and very brave Mobian, and understanding why he was so scared, considering she had almost swallowed him up after trapping him within her Nega-formed mouth, though he managed to escape at the time.
The teenager tried to remain calm, but softly gasped when the giant Wisp slowly reached out a tentacle, and he couldn't help whimpering in fear, his legs feeling frozen. Yet he was surprised that the very kind and loving alien mother just gently patted him on the head. It felt soothing and the tentacle was smooth and warm to the touch. Seeing her expression, Sonic could tell that, even though they both spoke in different languages, she was reassuring him that everything was alright and there was no need to be afraid. In fact, she reminded him of his own mother back at Green Hill Zone.
"I'm really glad everything's okay here. I heard that your new kids were born just the other day." Sonic sighed in relief, beginning to relax.
The Mother Wisp nodded with a happy and excited expression, as some of her children flew up to her face and hugged her, prompting the mother and smaller Wisps to giggle and laugh and the blue hedgehog laughed at the heart-warming and adorable scene before him.
"Hey, sorry to run off, but I gotta find my little bro Tails, since I'm guessing you haven't seen him yet." The fifteen year old said apologetically, since while he felt a bit guilty for taking a quick leave, he really wanted to find out where his two-tailed best friend was. "Not to mention I haven't seen Yacker yet either."
While the Wisps were forgiving and knew that the cobalt teenager didn't come alone, a couple of the Wisps that Sonic saved then had an idea in their way for helping and began talking to their mother, and unbeknownst to him, were asking her if they could help him find the two-tailed fox while gesturing at the top of her head in their way of saying thank you to him. The giant alien nodded, beaming at the idea before they all gazed back at the confused blue hedgehog who wondered what they were talking about and wished that Tails was around with his Miles Electric translating thingy.
The Mother Wisp then reached out which made him a bit on edge, then gently wrapped her giant tentacle around him by the waist and picked him up in a firm grip, causing him to yelp in shock and began to panic.
"Whoa! Hey, what're you doing!?" Sonic cried out, now once again scared as he tried to quickly pull himself free, not sure what was going on, being drawn close to the giant mother's head. "Please, let me go!"
The terrifying moment didn't last long, as the Mother Wisp then gently placed him on top of her head where the blue hedgehog, having thought he somehow made a mistake or made her angry, blinked in surprise while now sitting on the giant alien's head. Blinking on confusion while the smaller Wisps flew around him and held reassuring looks, he then yelped as she then began flying across the landscape and it was then he suddenly realized what was going on.
"Oh, I get it! You wanna help me to find Tails, right? And it was everybody else's idea that you let me ride on you?" He asked, and the mother carefully nodded while making sure he didn't fall off, before gently caressing him on the body which made him laugh. "Whoa, hey! You're tickling me! Ha ha ha!"
All of the aliens around him giggles, making Sonic feel comfortable once more now that he knew what was going on, giving them his thanks before they all heard a familiar welcoming voice from their right, making the Mother Wisp hover to a stop. There they saw Tails flying with his name-sakes spinning and with him were more Wisps, including the familiar cute Wisp with the familiar adorable curl on his head, Yacker the Wisp, squealing in excitement.
"Hey, Sonic! Over here!" Tails waved, and while he was stunned and rather frightened at just how huge the Mother Wisp was, when he saw his older brother on top of her head, the eight year old cub relaxed.
"#$%^#! #$%^#!(Sonic! Sonic!)" Yacker cheered happily and excitedly.
"Tails! Yacker! Hi!" Sonic waved back, very relieved that his little brother was safe and sound, and so happy to see his favorite little Wisp again. The Mother Wisp beamed before gesturing the very cute little flying fox to land onboard her head.
Despite looking a bit scared, Tails was then reassured by Yacker that it will be alright, so the young cub nodded and gently landed next to his big brother who moved over a little and the two, along with their reunited best alien friend, all shared a happy and great big hug, laughing
"Glad to see you're okay, little buddy!" The blue hedgehog said to his best friend, before adding to the cute little Wisp. "It's great to see you again, Yacker! We missed ya!"
"$^%& ^%*%^ ^!" Yacker squealed, tears forming in his eye as he was so happy to see his Mobian friends again.
"Yacker has missed us too. He found me after I ended up nearly landing near where the generator used to be, but the other Wisps saved me from crashing and I even saw new kinds of Wisps." The two-tailed fox explained.
Sonic laughed. "Same here. I met a Jade-coloured Wisp who has this cool power to levitate while turning invisble like a ghost and taught me how to do it. Pretty cool, huh? Though I kinda thought it was a Nega-Wisp, but boy am I glad that I was wrong?"
Tails nodded, pulling out his Miles Electric and explained. "That was a Jade Wisp. They can be quite mischief and love to play around by using their Jade Ghost abilities. Yacker told me that they like to play pranks on their brothers and sisters."
Yacker then sighed while shrugging in exasperation and shaking his head, muttering something.
"I guess your new Jade buddies are quite a handful, huh, Yacker?" Sonic remarked, having a good guess and his little friend nodded. He then turned to the giant mother the two Mobians were currently riding on and asked. "What about you, ma'am? Your kids are just as lively as ever."
The Mother Wisp said something with a giggle of her own, which Tails translated. "She says that the Jade Wisps really are a handful, sometimes wondering where they got their mischief behaviors from. The Jumping Wisps though seem to be everywhere on every planet we've been to and saved from Baldy Nosehair. Yesterday, some of them came home with tummy aches after visiting Sweet Mountain and eating too much of the candy, chocolate, cakes and ice cream."
"I did warn Tails and Yacker that eating too much sugar would make them sick." The blue hedgehog said half-teasingly, making all of his friends including the giant alien laugh, as the aforementioned two remembered that time as well.
Sonic and Tails spent most of the day exploring more parts of Planet Wisp, including areas that never been to, first half of their tour was the given ride on the Mother Wisp which she didn't mind at all, playing with their friends and making new ones, getting to now the newer kinds of the sweet and gentle aliens with many fun personalities, hearing kinds of stories and adventures the aliens that were with the Jumping Wisps in the worlds for the first time including Sweet Mountain, Aquarium Park, Starlight Road, and to their surprise, the first area of Mobius where the two Mobians lived but carefully out of sight from both humans and Mobians. The only place they didn't go to was the Asteriod Coaster since it was deserted and brought back too many terrible memories.
The blue hedgehog and his little adoptive brother shared their own stories of adventures to the Wisps not long after saving the Universe from Eggman, and the aliens were very fascinated by all of their sight-seeings and journeys. The two brothers were ever so glad that the alien world was recovering much quicker than they thought since the construction site was almost completely gone, with a few parts of metal still here and there, but not enough to be much of an issue.
Right now, Sonic and Tails on the edge of a cliff filled with knee-height grass and beautiful alien flowers, watching the sun set as the sunlight shone all across the towering landmass that viewed pretty much all of the Planet Wisp down below, with some of the aliens, including Yacker, beside them while the rest were flying around and playing, and the Mother Wisp watching over her children.
"Isn't this great, Tails?" Sonic whispered, feeling content with a warm smile on his muzzle.
"It sure is. Everything here is beautiful." Tails agreed.
The blue hedgehog nodded. "Yep. I love it here. Beautiful, peaceful, colourful...what more could everybody in this world want?"
"It's too bad we'll have to go home, soon. I wish we could stay just a little bit longer." The eight year old muttered, a little sad that they would be leaving soon, especially since everybody else back at home would be wondering where they are.
"Don't worry. I'm sure we'll come back for another visit soon." Said the fifteen year old, gently placing a comforting hand on his little brother's shoulder. "You do know that we can't stay here forever. That doesn't mean we won't be seeing it again."
Though deep down he was sad as well that they would be leaving, but at the same time, everybody in Mobius needed him and while the teenage hero loved it here, he was beginning to feel a little homesick. It had been fun, but as they say, there's no place like home.
The two-tailed fox nodded, smiling sadly as he knew that his best friend was right, and as Sonic pulled him into a loving brotherly embrace in one arm, and Yacker hopping in the middle to join in the group hug, the trio continued to gaze out over the horizon, feeling in peace as this visit was the most peaceful any of them had ever experienced in their entire lives.
They stayed like this for a little while longer before sighing as Sonic then stood up with Yacker flying up and helping Tails to stand, and the blue hedgehog announced. "Well, as much as I'd like stay here for a little bit longer, we should be getting back home."
"You're right. It is getting late and time may run a little differently here." Tails agreed, and while Yacker and the other Wisps around them all looked pretty sad to hear this, just then the Mother Wisp appeared and spoke in Wisp Language, reminding those who were hovering much closer to the two Mobians that they need to return to their world.
The Jumping Wisps and the other newer Wisps all looked ready to cry, but Yacker and all of the Wisps that were very close friends with the blue hedgehog and the two-tailed fox also told them otherwise and reassuring that it wasn't good bye forever, and despite that the younger aliens wanted Sonic and Tails to stay forever, to never leave ever again or at all(or even letting them since they wanted to keep the two Mobians, unknowingly against their will), the curl-headed Wisp and the giant mother told them that they had their own families and friends who would miss the duo and wanted them to come home.
"I guess some of these little guys don't want us to leave, huh?" Sonic remarked, scratching the top of his head as he felt a bit guilty when he saw tears in the young Wisps' eyes.
"They don't." Tails translated as he recorded everything the aliens were saying. "The newer Wisps are upset since we have to go home. Yacker, the other Wisps and their mother are trying to reassure them that it wasn't goodbye forever and they're trying to make them understand that we can't stay here for the rest of our lives."
"But they don't want that?" The blue hedgehog asked.
"Nope. They want us to stay here forever and not leave. They want to keep us here so that they can play with us all the time." The two-tailed kit confirmed.
"Aw, man...Poor little guys." The hero of Mobius sighed, and while he felt even more guilty, he didn't want himself or his best friend/little brother to be kept here as pets or toys just because the 'baby' Wisps were being very fussy. He just hoped that they wouldn't persuade the rest of the Wisps including the giant mother in forcing the two Mobians to stay.
That was scary, no matter how cute the Wisps were, which the younger aliens were making this like Sonic and Tails were actually kidnapped and forced to stay here for the rest of their lives.
Fortunately, the older Wisps had no intention of doing so, as Yacker shook his head more firmly. "#$%#. $ $% $% $%$."
"&^%$&$#! #*%& & $^%^#* *^%^#^%! (No, no, no! They can't leave! We want them to be with us forever!)" The young red-spiky headed Wisp protested while shaking it's head. It then flew straight towards Sonic and was clinging on his arm, nuzzling it's face on his skin. "##$ %%$? #$% #%%##? (Please, can't they stay? Why do they have to go home?)"
"##$% $$#%%%$!(Make them stay with us forever and ever!)" The other younger Wisps pleaded, hovering around the two Mobians who began to feel uncomfortable with sweat drops.
"Yacker's saying no, we can't stay here. But the little ones are pleading them to keep us here, pleading Yacker and their mother to make us stay with them forever and ever." The eight year old kit explained.
"$%#$ $. $%* $#$^%^, #$%& &^#%* $#% #^%#^%%* &^%^%, #$&^ ^$*%& ^ %%^#* $^%*# ^$^ % !&$*%#^#%$%*#^!%&$#^%* &$(Now, children. We know you want them to stay, but we can't force them. It is not right to make Sonic and Tails stay here against their will. They are like all of us; living beings with their own freedom and families. If we do, then we are no better than that horrible man who captured us before most of you were born.)" The Mother Wisp explained wisely, as gently but firm as possible, to which Tails translated, even as the younger Wisps looked heart-broken and about to burst into tears.
Sonic, realizing only he could make them understand, sighed before he began to the younger Wisps. "Don't cry, little guys. Look, I'm very sorry, but Tails and I can't stay here. It's like your family said, we have our own planet to go back to."
The young Wisps all looked tearfully at the blue hedgehog who sighed once more, holding a sad smile of his own.
"I know you don't wanna stay goodbye, and we're both sad to leave too, but you have to understand. We all have our own families and friends in both worlds, and really, you don't wanna be like that awful man Baldy McNosehair. You shouldn't force people to do just what you want do. You gotta respect each other's feelings and while it is hard to say goodbye, there's a part of us that stay behind in one place we are all born with and that's our hearts." The blue hedgehog explained, gently tapping at a Jumping Wisp's chest carefully, surprising all of the little ones.
"$%^?" The cobalt alien squeaked.
"And hey, it's not like we won't be seeing each other again. We can visit each other, and have more fun times someday soon. Sometimes we can't get what we always want, but we can't cry over it. In the end, friendship means caring for one another, sharing fun times and experiences and having fun in just hanging out, but everybody has families. Like you guys have each other. Me and Tails will come back for another visit. I promise." Sonic continued in a comforting warm smile.
With Yacker and Mother Wisp sighing in relief and telling the younger Wisps that the blue hedgehog always keeps his promises, the young aliens, still wishing for him and the two-tailed fox to stay, realized quickly that they were sounding selfish in forcing the two Mobians to stay against their will, before they flew and hugged the two who returned the embrace, all of them having tears while the two were doing their best to comfort them, while the 'babies' were now feeling guilty for what they wanted.
"They said their sorry for not understanding our feelings." Tails translated, while gently rubbing a light-yellow Wisp's head.
"It's okay. You're all still young and still learning. Learning is part of life too." Sonic reassured warmly, as Yacker and the other Wisps joined in while the giant Mother beamed warmly at the scene before scooping up all of them in two giant tentacles which made the two brothers yelp in fright at first, then realized that she was giving them a gentle but firm embrace as well, which they smiled and returned.
Though Yacker and the other Wisps did kind of wished their Mobian friends could stay, even the Mother Wisp already deeply loved the young heroes and had the urge to simply keep them both here, not letting them go, have them stay on Planet Wisp and never allow them to leave ever again, where Sonic and Tails would remain forever and ever, she and her older children knew it would make the two frightened as though they were being treated like pets and toys and remain imprisoned, which was very wrong and extremely selfish. They had family and friends waiting for them in their own world, and like the Wisps, the two Mobians had free will and lives to choose.
After a long moment and sharing a moment of the embrace and tearful goodbyes, the giant alien then gently put everyone down and letting them go, as Sonic and Tails sighed, before they nodded.
"We'll back soon and figure out how to visit you guys. I promise." Sonic vowed, and that was a good enough answer, before the same Cobalt Wisp that transported him and Tails here earlier hovered over, volunteering to take them back home, he turned to his brother and asked. "You ready, Tails?"
"Yep!" Tails nodded, before waving at all of the Wisps including Yacker. "Goodbye everyone! See you soon!"
"See ya, guys! Take care of each other." Sonic waved at the aliens who said their own goodbyes, and he, Yacker and Tails shared another high-five, before the Jumping Wisp used it's power to swirl around the two Mobians and before they knew it, they vanished from Planet Wisp the same way when they left Mobius, now teleporting back to their home world.
With the two Mobians gone, Yacker and all of the other Wisps looked tearful, but knew that they would see their Mobian friends again someday with warm expressions on their faces.
Back home on Mobius, after ending up split up briefly again, though surprisingly not too far as Sonic ended up just outside of the Mystic Ruins while Tails somehow ended up back in his Workshop, the blue hedgehog raced there and found to his relief that his little brother was there, though the Jumping Wisp ended up finding them as it got stuck in a tree before they helped it out, and after thanking it for the fun trip, they shared another farewell before it left to return to it's home world once more, and as luck would have it, time passed the same way as on Planet Wisp did.
"You know, Tails? It felt great to see them again." Sonic remarked as he and Tails stared up in the sky while the sun was setting and the first signs of the stars blinking were shown.
"You bet. I do sorry for the new Wisps though, even though it was kind of scary that they didn't want us to leave." Said the two-tailed fox.
"Same here, bro. But we'll see them again. Besides, even though being on Planet Wisp is great and being in space is fun, there's no place like home." The blue hedgehog smiled warmly.
His best friend/little brother nodded, sharing the smile before he and Sonic gazed up at the sky once more with peace still in place.
Yet even though he didn't know what kind of adventures and possible dangers lurked ahead, Sonic the Hedgehog knew of one thing; he was looking forward for the future excitement.
