The day ended like any other day in her fairytale, not so fairytale life.
They found another shard, killed another demon complete with blood and guts, and once again ran into Kikyo, who at this point decided to join them.
Her quest would be over soon, and so Kagome nor the others could argue her being there. Kikyo and Inuyasha had a bond none of them could really understand; she literally went to hell and back for him.
Miroku and Sango, of course, worried for Kagome's sake. She smiled and waved their worry off because today, she was going home for a break.
She promised to go trick or treating with Sota. Of course, she had thought about asking Inuyasha to go, he wouldn't have to hide his ears, and he would get to see what she meant by Halloween.
She quickly dismissed the idea. She should have been used to it; things never did go the way she wanted them to go. She sometimes knew fate was just fate, but sometimes she just wished things would go as planned, at least to her plans. But then again, this wasn't her place, and this wasn't her time, and he wasn't her soul mat; that much was clear.
"Are you sure you dont want me to come, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked as they all made their way to the well. It never got old, watching her vanish from their time to hers.
"Im sure Inuyasha, I promise I won't be long." She smiled, but his ears twitched with worry.
"Ill sure to bring some candy back for you, Shippo."
The little kit's tail twitched. "I wish I could go with you!"
She smiled softly at him. "I know I wish you could come to."
She turned her eyes to her friends "Be back soon." Then she waved as she sat on the lip of the well.
"Kagome,"
Kagome turned to look at Kikyo, her dull voice sending chills up Kagome's arm. "Yes?"
"You go and return, tell me has there been no change in your time when you return?"
"Um, no?"
"It is good that Naraku does not know about this well."
"K, he can't pass through it, only I can."
Kikyo looked at Inuyasha, "An interesting fact indeed," She stated.
"Should I be worried about something?" Kagome asked,
"Surely, Lady Kikyo, you are not making a threat?" Miroku asked with a look of concern on his face.
"I simply asked a question," Kikyo stated, "I find it odd he can pass, but I would assume it is due to the connection of our soul."
It was a clear reminder that Inuyasha and Kikyo were soul mates, not that she needed reminding.
"And just a reminder to her to be aware of her surroundings for every time she returns to us the path that could become the path that was."
"I've has been coming and going for two years now," Kagome stated,
"Indeed," Came Kikyo's voice.
Miroku knew that Kikyo was just as cryptic as Sesshomaru, which meant there was something to what she was saying, but they were not following. She knew something they didn't. But perhaps it was better they didnt know? Who knew.
"Should I not go?"
Kikyo turned, "By all means, return to your time." She then began to walk away.
Kagome looked at Inuyasha, who shrugged his shoulder; Kagome was hoping for more.
"K, ill be back," She said again before dropping down the well. The magic lifted, and then, she was gone.
On the other side, everything was as it should be, or at least it seemed that way. Kagome climbed out of the well and looked around. "Everything seems fine," But Kikyo's words had her hyper-aware.
The sun was going down, and so Kagome made her way inside. "Mom, Im home."
"Oh Kagome good, come in we have a guest."
"A guest," Kagome took off her shoes and dropped her bag.
"Yes, won't you come into the kitchen please," Her mother called.
"Coming!"
Kagome skipped to the kitchen and stopped dead in her tracks.
She gasped, and her hairs stood up. The woman in front of her, she didn't know her, but she did. It was unmistakable, undeniable.
"You look just like him," She whispered.
The woman smiled and a wicked smile.
"Your Sesshomaru's mother."
The woman smiled through Kagome was not totally deceived. That wasn't just any smile. Fear kept up her spine, and Kikyo's words came into play. Kagome's eyes darted around. "Is he here?"
The woman rose an eyebrow. "He who, my dear?"
"Your son."
"You seem worried like he is going to pop out at any moment and kill you."
"Well, he did try, twice," She said flat.
"I was unaware interesting."
Kagome looked at her mother, then back down at the woman.
"Sit," The woman commanded, and Kagome obeyed.
"How are you here."
"You should be asking me why I am here."
"Why are you here?" Of course, she wanted to know that.
"I need your assistance."
"Oh?" What else was new, "With what?"
The woman smiled. "With what else, my son, of course."
"The one who tried to kill me, that son?" It had been sometimes since he had tried, but it didnt change the fact that he had tried.
"Stop that," His mother stated fir.m, "It's quite unbecoming."
"What can I do?" Kagome questioned, "Not sure I can be much help; your son hates me."
"Save him."
